    Otomo is one of the all time greatest artists of all time. Akira is an epic and Steve Olaf’s colours were perfect.

    Both KABA volumes are truly gorgeous. All of his manga works are being reprinted in Japan this year. He’s just done so much in advertising, film, and sequential illustration. He even nearly made a film for Dreamworks over 20 years ago called ASH

    Mindblowing artwork. Otomo manages to create so much detail without it feeling overly cluttered.

      Sucks that he hasn't made any manga or many illustration books. He's better than Katsuhiro.

    • @MicahBuzanMUSIC
      @MicahBuzanMUSIC 2 года назад +2

      @@PiroKUSS Nah, he's not better. Just different - both are extremely skilled artists. Shohei draws extremely detailed humans, but his range of work and style isn't nearly as diverse as his father.

    I found my copy of KABA at Fat Jack's in Philly back in 1998-1999 while attending art school. It cost me around $20 bucks....and I still have it. Glad I bought it then, because that means I don't have to spend $200+ on eBay!

    Great video! I’ve had this beauty in my collection since it came out! A total impulse buy and Jim is not kidding about being intimidated by the sheer volume of variety in this book! I’m a little bit of a better artist than I was 30yrs ago but this creative process is gd stellar! As always you guys showcase a worldwide view of comics artists creating! Thanks!

    Does that say 1984 on the TV drop? Looks a lot like the famous Ai Weiwei urn drop from 1995, wonder if there was some inspiration there.

    Yo, fellas. "Fireball" is actually the name of Otomo's first published manga that he never completed. That image was used as the front cover for the complete published edition of the manga, I think.

    Looks too good to be a bootleg, maybe a reprint?
    Can anyone confirm?
