The Hovertank was one of the most unique mechas of Robotech; not your typical fighter/battloid/guardian transformer. (The cyclones were my all-time favorite Mechs) For the hovertank, I really like the battloid and cannon modes but never cared much for hover-vehicle. The toy has a nice size.
While I don't particularly love this design, I do appreciate its aesthetic and construction; definitely a cool mech in any event. Good to see an updated review, makes for a far superior viewing experience.
Aww yeah the Veritech Hovertank :D :D A friend of mine had one of theses. I haven't watched Choujikuu Kidan Southern Cross yet, but I do have it... uh.. acquired.
I'm quite new to your channel, and I really appreciate your content choices. Unique product and opinion, you've got a good head on your shoulders. BTW, his ass flap looks a bit like a mantis' head. Ha!
You have the coolest toys Dan. I love the super mecha Robotech look, it's chunky and has a strong realism to it. Fansproject's Assaulter (Broadside) is clearly someone's love letter to these designs.
Assaulter definitely has a very alpha fighter/valk jet matched with a space cruiser matched with a heavy destroid thing going on that I love. Maybe they should do some unofficial macross/mospeada! Love to see a cyclone by them!
Thats saying a lot considering the mospeada and macross designs usually get all the glory! I dig the open chariot style of the hovertank, a lot more stylized than any of the other RT mechs. Thanks for watching!
I had this for a very short while as a kid but for some reason returned it to the store ( I think it and it's replacement was broken...would have been nice to have it today)
In my experience in various forums the Robotech vs Macross debate is 50-50, but few talk of how Mospeada and once in a blue moon, someone say they like the Southern Cross part; neither original series have defenders or fans unlike Macross! Part 2 and 3 of Robotech are more well-known because they were in Robotech and are almost forgotten outside of it!
One of the things people don't know, something that has only come to light in the last few years, is that Popy was the toy sponsor of SDC: Southern Cross. They went bankrupt before the show aired, which severely hobbled its chances of success. Nowadays, of course, things are turning around due to technology like 3D Printing being able to fill in the gaps. A fan of Southern Cross in Japan did their own version of the Spartas toy, which is fairly good for a scratch/hand built version without access to an entire department of toy builders. hobbycom.jp/my/f6e739420d/photo/products/34317
WOW! That fan made figure is AWESOME. It´s sad Southern Cross/ The masters saga mechas never had the recognition they deserved; sure, some designs sucks like the airplane that only had gerwalk-vehicle mode, but the Spartan-Hovertank macha design wasn´t cool but still decent.
@@Gridseeker Yeah.... that "....airplane that only had gerwalk-vehicle mode"...that was the 'Logan' vehicle, Really Weak!! But I was fond of the A.J.A.C.S. helicopter veritech vehicle. Shoot, I was surprised to see a 'Bioroid' toy not to long ago, on YT!!
@@michaelbenjmitchell1 OH....... but it Doesn't ( J/K ) I have a model of a 'Red Bioroid'... and One-of-these-days... I tend to build that Bioroid and mount it upon that toy hovercraft. NOT too sure of scale, but I'll try it out.
I want to say that toy is so advanced for that time but then I remember that g1 was mostly toys that were designed in the 70's. Once the season 3 bots started coming out they were very Limited and luckluster with a few exceptions like Galvatron.
yeah, when hasbro actually started making their own toys it was ROUGH. it really wasnt until the last 10 years they have actually made truly good transformers imo.
+TMan978 MP1 was a HUGE statement. after that we knew what was possible, so yeah, I'm with ya that's a good point. and alternators/Binaltech was like crack for me, love it!
I had the Exo-Squad crossover variant of the Hovertank. I had for a good decade or two before I got rid of it. Now I have a LEGO moc of it, with full transformation, including vehicle-mode: images.moc-pages.com/user_images/53259/1425256053m_SPLASH.jpg
Yeah, I found one years ago and was very happy to own it, but it would only go to battloid and cannon mode. It had enough space to go to hovertank mode, but I guess it was a cost decision to leave it out?
I like the overall design but man the articulation was bad yo. Still it's nice to see Southern Cross get some love. wish they remade this but most Robotech fans are still sour at this section.

What a nice piece dude. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of your viewers checked ebay for this tank before the vid was even done. Great choice.
it's definitely not a toy that's seen everyday, I'm glad to have one! thanks for the kind words man.

+Cho Cho hahahahahahahahaha it does! I never thought of that before, normally that's the first thing I notice!
I have him, have had him for years, hes missing the longer gun and I want to know how much it would be worth since I'm not really into robotech

Southern Cross was my favorite Robotech segment.
You are lucky man !!!! This figure not found in my country Chile !!!!!!!
the hovertank was my favorite mech in the series.

MackieStingray2040 It's a favorite of mine for sure!
That is a pretty machine. I love when the molds have battle damage built right in.
I loved the robotech line...except this one,lol..HOWEVER, now that I am older, I appreciate it much more. Cant wait to see more redo reviews
thanks man, I agree this was the least attractive design back in the day, with valkeries and cyclones and whatnot available.

Sadly never owned anything Robotech. Always liked the toyline though....looks so cool.
the designs from mospeada in particular have always been favorites of mine. alpha/beta fighter, cyclone motorcycle, awesome stuff.
Somebody knows if the VFH-12 AJACS LIMITED EDITION MODEL from ROBOTECH MASTERS´ SAGA was realesed? And where can I buy it?

thanks for watching Ben!
I always found this thing's transformation in the anime questionable practicality-wise but it works so well as a toy!

Released in 1994?
i wish they can remake this guy dx style
Too bad there isn’t new company that will take a new approach to this mech.
Maybe someday. Lord knows they tend to do the same stuff over and over, why not change it up?!
