The lack of enemy variety on the last one was my only major gripe. Every time another troll/ogre popped up it was depressing.
I completely agree, every other aspect of the game is 10 out of 10 but some draugr is the first enemy encounter of the game, and they never go away. I’m so tired of fighting them.

Yeah that was just due to funding for the last game. They just didn't have as much money bc it had been a long time since a GOW game. This time they have a LOT more money, and there is a LOT of enemy variety

When I first saw the trailer for God of War (2018) I wasn’t too excited for it due to all the changes they made, but once I played it I feel in love with the combat. This is definitely one of my most anticipated games of 2022 and I can not wait for it to come out.

I didn't find the puzzles annoying in the 2018 game tbh. I wouldn't even consider them as puzzles.
I feel the same actually, gow 2018 is the only game where I didn't mind doing the "puzzles" over and over again and felt so good beating them.
Idk, it was hard to figure out how to make the bridge stay in place.
I would call them environmental exploration and traversal segments.
They don’t puzzle me, but I do explore and traverse.
They kinda were annoying tbh, it's clear they were filler content.

I remember rushing to GameStop on release day to get gow 2018. Me and my buddy sat inside and just played it all day long. When my buddy left my apartment, he went straight to gamestop and bought a ps4 and gow 2018 😂

I love that all the reviewers I watch have gone out of their way to not spoil anything. it says a lot about how they feel about the game. and it says a lot about how the publisher feels about the game that the embargo isn't super restrictive. this is the only game I've been hyped for this year!
God of War 2018 absolutely blew me away. Even now it remains one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. I remember beating it and finding the “secret” ending when you go back to the house only to wake up to lighting falling from the sky and the god of thunder waiting for you. All I could think was “I don’t want to wait years for more”……. And now the wait is finally over
You have rose in the ranks of my favorite RUclipsrs for respecting the fact that we want to experience the story for ourselves. You could’ve went into all the crazy details about the story and probably gotten more views. Kudos for not doing that Luke :). I will definitely check out the full review once I’ve finished playing the game.

I used to think God of War 2018 was a horrible game only because I never played single-player games before but after giving it a shot I fell in love with the story and the characters. I'm even going for the platinum trophy to play the game again. I am genuinely excited for God of War Ragnorok

God of War Ragnarok is a masterpiece, the gameplay, graphics, story all top notch, loved the 2018 God of War and Santa Monica Studio outdid themselves with Ragnarok 👏👏👏👏
Shocker. A game developer that actually cares enough about the quality of what they put out there to not release it until it is actually really finished. Because if it ain't polished, it ain't finished.
I'm excited for the conversations we will have in a few months after the hype has died down. I know this game is going to be amazing, but I'm interested in how we will talk about it differently, once everyone has played it and had time to think about it in comparison to the first and other games.

I definitely think the puzzles are better in this game than last time and get better in the later half, and the difficulty id def say is a step up later on so im excited to see your overall thoughts later.

ooph, I'm replaying GOW 2018 on easy mode and I'm enjoying the puzzles a lot and I couldn't care less about the combat :)
the puzzles make me truly appreciate the wonderfully detailed environments because they force me to look closely. Yes, they are easy. But that's good. You wouldn't want to be stuck in a room for an hour, it would kill the game's pacing, you want to feel engaged at all times, and these puzzles achieve that.
How often is a game everything we hoped it would be? 😅 Everything nowadays seems to fall short of expectations or shockingly exceed them

It'll run great regardless. It is, at its core, still a PS4 game that has just received a boost in performance for PS5.
So excited for this game. Im an OG GOW fan but I honestly slept on this game back in 2018. There were just too many good games out.
I was distracted by Monster Hunter, Red Dead2, Destiny, and Assassins Creed Odyssey. It not that I didn't like GOW 2018, my friends bugged me about it but I kept saying I'll get back to it but never did.
I reloaded GOW when I got my PS5 and it just hooked me. So I went completionist mode(I still have PTSD from those damn Valkyries, had to buy a new controller becuz of those bastards) to try to plat the game.
I failed. Only trophy I missed was Fire and Brimstone (trials of Muspelheim), my hands felt like fire and brimstone from those Valkyries so I just let that trophy go lol
Can't wait to finish the story.

Bro even on easy mode with all my stats maxed out I got my ass whooped over 50 times by the stupid Valkyrie queen😭😂 haven’t raged this hard in any game including dark souls lol. I finally got the platinum though
Lets fucking go. My biggest issue with GoW2018 was the lack of boss diversity. GoW3 is my favorite game of all time and so going from that to GoW2018 was definitely disappointing in terms of boss fights. I’m happy to see they took criticism to heart and fixed it.

Just got a LG C2 48 in anticipation of this game, I did a quick run through on GOW 2018 on PC to get ready for ragnarok and man it was so good, can't wait, only 5 more days. I'm taking 3 days off work and then it's the weekend hell yeah 👍

The game awards are gonna be in between this, Elden ring, and a plague tale(I am just saying this cause the judges have a knack for Action, linear, non-open world, story-telling games (2020-Last of us part 2, 2021- It takes two)
It takes two was a really weird game of the year winner. I played it and while I enjoyed it I never would have even considered it. But yeah it's going to be this game or Elden Ring. Between the two I'm leaning more towards Elden Ring because it broke ALL the records in terms of sales and such.

To be honest, the game awards are worthless. The winner nowadays is the one who bribes the judges the most and not the game that was actually good. The same thing happened in 2018 with GOW and RDR2; and in 2020 with TLOU2 and every other game.
There are lots of indies that are better than any of those aaa games.
Indies know how to make games with deep combat mechanics. AAA are now totally outdated movies.
It is mainly because these are the kind of games not tainted by microtransactions or battle passes
i didn't think the previous one was as good as everyone was saying, but i still loved it. Looking forward to this because i feel it'll really fix where the last was lacking.

I just beat the game last night and I agree with everything Luke said here, the game's a 10/10 masterpiece and better than the first one in every conceivable way. In fact it's even managed to dethrone The Last of Us to become my second favorite game of all time, which I wasn't expecting. Although the one thing I disagree with is that the 'Give Me Balance' difficulty is not too easy, it's a decent challenge, so IDK what Luke's talking about LOL.

i can't wait to see other types of mythologies and from what I've seen there's still Egyptian and Japanese mythology to check out (there was some kind of tablet with norse, greek, egyptian and japanese symbols, so this is where my suspicion comes from)

Every review I've seen so far of this game is saying this game has basically "no flaws, best game ever, this game will solve all of humanities problems". From what I’ve seen and what you’ve said in this video the combat hasn’t had much of an overhaul which is a real shame for me because I found the combat in 2018 to be very clunky and underwhelming, it got better when the blades were introduced but still sub par
This is why I'm not excited for this game.. Everyones praise will soly focus on the story and then say the combat "is good".. I miss when God of war was all about the gameplay.. The story was dessert, the combat was the main meal...

Every review I've seen have said Ragnarok's combat has greatly improved from the 2018 game. Not changed or different, but added and improved. IGN even said it takes some inspiration/reminiscent of the original god of war games since fights can be more erratic and fast paced. So there's a chance you may like Ragnarok's combat better, but it's still built on the same foundation as the 2018 game, so take that as you will
Unlike most, I thought 2018 GoW was decent but not great; had more fun with the older games. Still fun, it just felt like the stepping stone to a truly great game, which this obviously will be.

The fact that they don’t kill kratos was stupid after setting it up last game and the ending where it included Egypt was just stupid as well. I figured it would have been a great chance to hand the franchise over to the son since I figured that was the reason he even exists. For me the game was a 2.5/10 I can see why they called it dlc. And it was originally planned as dlc. Becaise it’s just pretty much more of the same. Plenty of areas with same enemies rinse and repeat low enemy variety. Not to difficult bosses.

after finishing GOW 2018 on PC i knew i needed to play the sequel and i was willing to wait but after hearing all these reviews and after seeing some of the gameplay im 100% heading to gamestop next Wednesday to get a PS5 Ragnarok edition just to play this.

Luke,… talking about the tedium… you play video games for a living so I’m sure you’re taking that into account when it comes to the puzzles. What is immediately obvious for you may be a bit more challenging for others. I’ve been home gaming since PONG came out (I’m 57) so things are pretty obvious to me too. I haven’t played the game yet so I don’t know how simple they are, but …
I hope they are at least as inventive as the puzzles that are in Odyssey Fenyx Rising because I like Zelda-style challenges (which is how I kind of think of these things). Just remember that if those puzzles just went away and weren’t in GOW Ragnarok, people would be sharpening the points of their pitchforks and heading for Santa Monica Studios.

The constant puzzles would ruin my rythme and some puzzles I would get stuck on for 25 minutes at a time and I’d just get bored and stuck then just quite
Or I’d get lost and not know where to go/how to get there
I’m considering playing the game again with a guide for the puzzles and parts where I get stuck so I can enjoy the game and then play the second one as well
@@Shertowin Thats right bro, these puzzles destroy the experience, and those chests that you had to throw the axe to 3 different places having the limit of time, was so frustrating and boring. Plus the fact that every time you throw the axe you have to remember to press the button again to bring it back, all these ruin the gameplay. Gow used to be the best hack and slash game ever, and they changed that. I dislike games when you constantly need to pause playing and watch a walkthrough or a guide in order to know how to proceed.
