  • The X-Men Universe is full of mutants of various shapes, sizes, and powers. While some have weird and quirky abilities, others have mutations that give them access to so much power that they have the potential to be extremely dangerous and all-consuming. This video is about one such mutant that seems to have immense power, likening him almost to a God. It is none other than - Apocalypse.
He is one of the world's first mutants and was a significant enemy for the original X-Factor team, as well as the X-Men and their spin-offs. Apocalypse was the brainchild of writer Louise Simonson and artist Jackson Guice and originally appeared in X-Factor #5 in May 1986. Apocalypse is one of the Marvel Universe's most powerful entities. The character has starred in a variety of X-Men titles since his debut. This video has all you need to know about this absolute force of nature.

To mention the TAS version of Apocalypse and not talk about the AMAZING dialogue is a travesty.
"I am the rocks of the eternal shore! Crash against me and be *BROKEN!"* "I am as far beyond mutants as they are beyond you." "Spare me your petty judgement! They spring from a mind too meager to comprehend MY reality!" "There exists no freedom from me. There is only freedom through me!" "Beast. How many peoples have dreamed of my end? You are no closer than the Babylonians with their swords and fire sticks!"
And those are just the ones I know off the top of my head. His voice actor starred in theater plays and it showed in his delivery.
Bonus trivia! In the season four finale, Bishop goes to the Axis of Time and meets a crazy "caretaker" who gives him strange, but useful advice. When Apocalypse is defeated and everyone leave, the caretaker returns and reveals his true self. Immortius, a temporal offshoot of Kang the Conqueror. It was a nice nod to the comics and suggests that the Axis of Time is, in fact, Limbo.

      @michaelkottler Год назад

Having academic and real-life training in computer science including computer design, programming, networking and more, I am informed enough to have to wonder at the sheer comedy that is "universal technology interfaces". On the most basic level, consider the hit film Independence Day when the good Dr. "uploads a virus" to the naughty alien's mainframe despite the fact that he had no comprehension of: their computing paradigm which might be vastly different from our own, alien machine language if any, type(s) of higher-level methods of controlling alien computer-based devices like our programming languages (PASCAL, BASIC, C, C++, JAVA, etc), alien programming compilers that transform all that coding into an executable app (if that's even how their process works), in this case a virus, and a means by which uploading to the alien computer is possible. Do they just happen to utilize the exact same TCP/IP and other systems that we use to locate and transmit information between computers? As a plot device it's an appealing and seemingly clever idea unless you understand the basics regarding what a computer is, how it works, and how networks like the World Wide Web and LANs operate and then the improbability of uploading a virus to a completely alien no pun intended computer system becomes clear. In other words, unless the aliens just happened to create and operate their computer and networking systems exactly as we do and also just happen to use the same operating system (Windows, Apple OS X, Unix, etc) and networking protocols PLUS either party being capable of bridging the language barrier if required, this kind of handy plot device just won't work because of massive incompatibility problems. The same holds true for ALL information system interface devices. Celestial tech or not, that's a very tall order requiring astounding to the point of being impossible methods of transcending time and space in such a manner as to allow access to all intelligent beings' computer and similar devices including all the related data on operation, development and so on and informational storage so that all data is accessible and immediately usable in terms of promptly connecting computer system A to computer system or whatever device you have in mind and most of all a "universally applicable" method for allowing two completely different systems to "understand" one another. It honestly seems impossible. But perhaps given hyper-advanced technological and other resources we might someday, somehow be capable of developing or borrowing the technology for such a device or something that at least comes close. But given the ineffable, difficult and highly complex nature of the problem of developing a universal interface which will require barely imaginable advances in so many areas, it's just not a realistic expectation now or in any foreseeable future. On the other hand, it's just a comic book, and is meant to entertain. At the same time, so many of our modern-day technologies and capabilities began as an idea from some science fiction (or other genre) writer's story, novella or book. So who knows what the future holds? It's just unlikely that we'll see a universal interface device anytime soon, if ever. But again, if we can ever figure out how to manipulate gravity and space/time effectively enough to enable the kind of real warp drives the NSA and NASA have been toying with for years, that'd open up several possibilities integral in creating such a seemingly utterly impossible device. But one massive advancement at a time, right?

In the more recent comics, its been revealed that original Horsemen were his biological children by a woman named Genesis.
It's also important to note that he has many descendants - including New Mutants/Generation X members Clarice Ferguson (Blink) and Jonothon Starmore (Chamber) - and is often connected to the transformation of Dr. Nathanial Essex to Mr. Sinister.
You showed a lot of the 90s animated series, but I think the version from X-Men Evolution should have been mentioned as well. While he didn't have the camp of the 90s versions, he had the God-like presence at least during his awakening. The 90s version was loud and boasted a lot, but the Evo version was silent and powerful in his appearance.

Sadly Marvel hit him with the Jobber Bat, despite how powerful he is he constantly loses to shit that shouldn't even faze him.
Like the time he ran away from Namor, after having to dodge a wooden coffee table thrown by Namor. He felt so threatened by common WOOD that he had to avoid it.
And can't forget he got his ass kicked by Dracula.
Despite tanking everything the X-Men and Inhumans had to throw at him at once and laughing it off, last I saw him he turned to run with his tail between his legs when he saw Black Bolt. BB was even included in the effort he laughed off.
I'd love to see Marvel give him his own big event where he's the Uber big bad and it takes multiple teams of heroes to take him down.
Hell, give him a rematch with Thor. Sure the Thunder God would love to throw down after Apocalypse forced him to flee, when he was younger.

I just can't get myself to even mildly like the movie but he was portrayed brilliantly in the 1990s X-Men animated series. In fact, that portrayal was the best. Better than in X-Men Evolution and far better than in the movie. The actor who portrayed him in the movie was, let's just say very far from the best suited one to do it. But in the 1990s animated series his portrayal truly bordered genius at times. His megalomaniac, narcissistic nature combined with his deep hatred and contempt for people was so well portrayed for instance. The way he used to call people "filth" will always get stuck in my mind LOL. A brilliant portrayal, his design was great and the voice acting and his writing were phenomenal. The movie however kind of did him dirty LOL. I do hope that sometime in the future Hollywood and television sets will start making quality movies again and then we will see some high quality big and small screen adaptations of these comics and their characters.

I can't help wondering what would happen if Apocalypse clashed with The Phalanx, The Juggernaut, Galactus, Omega Red, or even Thanos!
Of course, I've often wondered what would happen if any of them (except Thanos vs. Galactus) faced off against one another!

Seriously, if the apocalypse character was more like the comic books in terms of appearance and time travel plot, you could have had a series story arc like avengers
