I’d like to see more service videos on this truck. Diff service or cleaning up anything leaking on this GMC. In short, making this thing mint again. Maybe some interior improvements/ mods as well. Lights, steering wheel etc….
I just acquired a 2005 sierra, and subsequently I started looking for videos on this vehicle, which is how I ran across your videos. And I’m definitely picking up on some good ideas and things to do with my truck. I’ve really been enjoying watching and learning some of the ins and outs of this truck. Thank you for the good information.
When checking ball joints, try and jack from the lower control arm so that the suspension doesn’t droop all the way out. Get the tire a few inches off the ground and then slide a pry bar under it and pry up and down. Sometimes on an IFS jacking from the frame to check a ball joint and allowing the suspension to droop out will hide a sloppy ball joint. Just a suggestion. Also, great way to identify worn steering components is to have a helper start the truck and wiggle the steering wheel back and forth with the tires on the ground while you crawl under and visually inspect each component. You’ll be able to easily see any play in steering components this way.
@@nsant I think he’ll do well. Not immediately this first year but I think he will learn a lot and if he can adapt quickly will maybe get some better results later in the season. I think it’s great to see more American racers racing in MotoGP.
When I got my used truck, the first thing I did was detail the interior. I used some Mother’s VLR, and oh man it did an amazing job at removing all the caked on grim and crap. All the high touched areas like the steering wheel and column shifter felt so much better afterwards.
I have a 2006 Sierra 4WD also. Awesome truck since I bought it new. Get ready to pull your instrument cluster, replace the stepper motors and resolder all the cracked solder joints. They pretty much all go bad. There is also a steering shaft clunk issue (you will feel it at low speeds going through parking areas), on these that is easily remedied by packing grease into the steering shaft tube that the shaft goes through. Last year of the great trucks! After that they started with the cylinder management nonsense.
Getting my first truck (second vehicle) on Monday man I’m excited as hell. It’s a well kept 2001 GMC Sierra and the dude has all the maintenance done on it

You got a good one I have an 04. It's hard to find the 1/2 tons with a crew cab and 4×4. Most 4x4 in these body styles are only extended cab and most crew cabs are only 2 wheel drive

just a service tip dont pre fill filters through the middle of the filter so you just put unfiltered oil in the filter. filtration is through the smaller holes along the outside
