Just bought a 2004 silverado z71 1500. I average 17mpg with 200k, rebuilt trans, fuel pump, and several other things for $3800. Runs like a raped ape, can't wait to start the build
Loved this story, only thing I found funny is the "loaded down trailer". 3 days ago I towed my 20 foot enclosed trailer packed to the tits (7605 pounds) over 600 miles through the mountains with my half ton. Sure it was a bit slow going up hills but the truck handled it just fine! 10/10 would do it again!
@@JWMontoya only way to solve this is to put different gear ratios to restore the power . Should've had 3:42 gear ratio. I did the exact same set up on a 2006 and went back with 3:73's. I didnt want to lose a lot of top end power with the 4:10 ratio but had I went 37s I would've ( I also had 3 in body lift ). I just went with a different offset and wider wheels and tires. 22x9
I absolutely hate bfg ko2 just bc when I worked at Robertson I always had to throw 80+ out of the semi truck we got. They do look sexy tho but they are heavy
If you would have regeared that truck, it would have pulled a lot better. Those trucks have the power, but you have to regear if you want to do anything else than drive around and look cool

Truck looks great. Word to the wise, anyone reading this. Do not get eBay tow mirrors.. 1A Auto makes a set far superior to even OEM in my opinion. Had an eBay set. Mirror fell off.. janky, not sturdy. Better off spending another 150 or so getting a set that is amazing quality. The Marker light looks way better than any OEM mirror. Wrap the caps with vinyl for cheap too. 3M.

Are you on 35s and 6” lift too? Truck felt much sluggish after 35s and pulling a trailer didn’t help
@@JWMontoya this is true. Mine has 33s at stock height but that's nothing compared to 35s.
