    Had my 150A-SL ages but never used it. Took it out of the packet today to use on my DR10. Plugged in the 2S battery and smoke appeared. It was only £20 or so but what a disappointment.

      so the 12 = 11? The strange thing is that in the table of values the 11 does not mark any parameter, perhaps there is no option to modify the 11.

    I ordered one for 25 bucks. This seems to be the only video on this esc right now. I would love to see some running footage. I wonder how the cogging is on start up. I hope they are good quality. The price seems too good to be true.

    • @carloswright

      Installed mine in my Kyosho Inferno Neo VE today. Ran great through the first 4s pack. Came with no brakes set, and I had to reverse my motor rotation. I have had cheap esc's with bad start up before, but this one does well. I lowered the minimum force for both motor directions as well.

      @@carloswright I need a cheap ESC for an overseas 1/8 E buggy race. You think this will be okay for racing. We don't run E buggy in our country but I want to run 2 classes at this overseas race just for the heck of it. I want to mate it with a 2000kv motor and 4s battery. Your thoughts?

    • @carloswright
      @carloswright Год назад +1

      @drewreyes851 I only have one pack through it, but it did well. The motor in mine is 2000kv and I used a 5200mah 75c SMC lipo. If it were me, I wouldn't be scared to run it. You need to solder 6.5mm bullets on your motor if you don't run them already.

    • @drewreyes851

      @@carloswright the only motor I have available in our country is 3670 1900kv and it has some wires and bullets already on them. It doesn't have soldering tabs. It comes pre-wired. As for battery I have 2s 7.6v 6500mah 150c shorty batteries available locally I can wire to 4s. That is what most are running with my car 2pc 2s shorty. If it can last 5 days of racing I will be happy. Is throttle response good? No cogging? The motor is a surpass hobbies one not sensored. I am hoping it will support the 1900kv with no issue.

    • @carloswright
      @carloswright Год назад

      @drewreyes851 Obviously, it is a budget esc. It's not the best option for racing out there. I have 15 minutes of run time with it, not a lot of use. It does cog a little, but not bad. I have had other cheap esc's that I have thrown away because the start-up and responsiveness were awful. The bec is only 5.8v, and it doesn't have any timing options. Good luck with your racing.

    I think I did a #KevinTalbot with mine.
    After adding two 50v 4000k+ microfarad caps, I connected it to the motor, plugged in a 4s 120c 9700mAh SMC lipo, slowly ramped up the throttle. Hit brake, reverse, then full throttle, then the magic smoke got out 🤷🏾‍♂️
    Was only $25 USD. Just gave up on it 🤦🏾‍♂️

    TO GIVE MY ESC MORE WEATHER PROTECTION IS IT WISE TO PUT SILICONE WHERE ALL THE WIRES ARE ON THE ESC PLEASE LET ME KNOW THANKS

    • @madhatterrcchats7164
      @madhatterrcchats7164  11 месяцев назад

      These ESCs are waterproof from new. You can see the sealing resin at the top of the board on them.
      On any ESC a bit of silcone sealant around the wires will do no harm.
      GT85 is a silicon spray and spraying your cars plastics after a run, and the electronics with this after cleaning will nourish the plastics, prevent corrosion on the plugs and leave a light water repellent coating on everything.
      In general the level of waterproofing on other makes of RC car waterproof ESCs (this post is about the Platinium range) runs from splash proof, strong jets of water to running partially or fully submerged.
      A big branded manufacturer like Arrma or Spektrum will tell you in the instructions how waterproof the ESC is and how long for in the instructions. ESCs are not waterproof full stop but only for so long and the more wet the shorter time they are waterproof for in one go. Say maybe wet grass for up to two hours, submerged 10 mins etc.
      You can buy something called conformal coating to paint onto your ESC circuit board to make it waterproof.
      You can then seal the ESC as well afterwards. The manufacturers use a resin of some kind.
      Silicon can be tried but you need airflow for cooling and the typical silicon sealer may not be rated enough for the heat generated by your ESC.
      You can buy specific liquid electrical insulation repair tape which dries like silicon, is for water proofing and is usually heat rated enough for an ESC.
      So conformal coating on the board, then seal with liquid insulation tape remembering to ensure the fan can still work moving air around. To make a non-waterproof ESC waterproof as above it would be trial and error to see how waterproof and how long it is waterproof for.
      If you take the heatsink off the board (the fets) to use the conformal coating you might need thermal compound (like used for computer chips) to bond the heat sink back onto the fets.
      I would only recommend doing this if you are experienced at working with electronic circuit boards or can afford to lose the ESC if you damage the board during the process.

      That said this ESC has forward and reverse but not sure if the lack of air flow inside a boat might give you over-heating.....

      I think these cheapie (Max8 copies?) will be like all cheaper brands, bit less quality control, so you will get a great one runs for ever out of the packet or faulty out of the packet. I run lots of "budget" "clone" ESCs, either unbranded or budget branded and honestly from memory one no go out the pack and refunded by AliExpress and rest all good for bashing about. If speed running or racing you need premium radio, ESC and servos but mainly for best software meaning quicker response times or telemetry feedback ....
