Note: USE BALANCED POWER PROFILE IF USING CHIPSET DRIVERS! Made a mistake at time of filming! Thank you for the hefty views over time. This tells me people are having a rough time with setting up the 7800x3d to this day😂 I'm considering making an updated setup guide for the 7950x3d also right before I give it to my girlfriend as an upgrade 👍
@@thedarkangelpt the boosting algorithms are tied to the power profiles on the 7000 X3D CPUs. Once the chipsets are installed, the balanced profile gets changed to boost the CPUs exactly as the chipset intends it. It generally is more important for consistency over anything, as most games work on High performance also...but just not all.
@@Beefy-Tech Ah.. AMD really needs to make this stuff clear. I have a 7950X3D and all I've done is set my ASUS X670E-E to the EXPO 1 profile. Of course out of habit in the OS I chose high performance for everything because I don't like windows shutting things down and what not. I noticed that I'm seeing boost over 6500mhz and NO WHERE online can I find anyone else experiencing this. I wonder if that's because I'm not using the balanced profile. I'll have to switch it when I get home to see if that changes the behavior. Also, AMD has now gotten rid of individual chipset driver downloads and require you to use an installer. The thing is, the installer doesn't detect your CPU if you have integrated graphics turned off in the bios. So, we now have to have integreated graphics turned on all the tiem - but now I'm wondering if this is also required for the X3D Vcache to work correctly on the 7000 series. AMD really needs to come out with a very clear step by step process of how to configure these chips.

Overvolting components won't make them run faster or more stable and the best thing you can do for the longevity of your hardware is always use the least amount of voltage that offers 100% stability.
HAGS dosen't work on AMD graphics cards. AMD has their own accelerated scheduler built in the cards hardware itself, and will always ignore whether it's on or off in windows settings. Frame Generation on Cyberpunk works fine on AMD cards stock. Especially better if you use the DLSS to FSR 3.1 mod found on Nexus Mods, a couple modders did a better job of implementing it than a full staff at CDPR, lol.

@@Beefy-Tech Hey mate! Nice video! With my experiences, uploaded onto my channel here and I know it's in German, but less Slang-Words used, so the automatic translation should work out, I showed how to overclo... nah, it's not really overclocking, it's more like optimization for more performance, but okay. I made a step further, to disable the CCD1 of my 7950X3D, to run a profile whcih is optimized for gaming only and there I had adjusted the BCLK2 to 103.9MHz which isn't only resulting in a higher Boost-Clock of 5.400MHz, but also on every Multiplicator-Stepping in higher frequencies. The ammount of performance that you gain by this is completely insane ... But I love it! I'm excited to see what your hardware is able to reach! Currently I'm in contact with ASUS a lot, to figure out some problems that I got with the ROG Strix X670E-E Gaming Wifi because I want to aim for the maximum performance possible with my CPU, but therefor I have to prevent some Cores of the CCD1 to go higher than 5.840MHz, but the Boost-Clock-Limit "per Core" is currently not working, so I have to wait until Chinas Holidays ended and they can work on my problems. Until further contact I leave with friendly greetings!
I find it absolutely disturbing that you actually try to give "props" to someone for doin whats normall for the majority of people and then actually believing thats good ... So happy you finally got the 7800x3d + 7900 xtx running, I have been waiting for a while now. @@MrCaptainTea No. Why should it be? It is the same, you just COULD use more features (HyperV, Remotedesktop, etc - which are off per default). The install ISO is the same. Just the key you insert for activating windows tells the system, which features you are allowed to have.
"It's not always best to have the chipset drivers installed", can you expand on this as I feel like this is something that need further information, is this reported somewhere as to the reason why you should vs shouldnt, is this something you have tested an experienced issues?
The boosting algorithms and the core allocations are affected by chipset drivers, but without them their behaviour gets dictated just by the power plans. Meaning high performance power plan and no chipset drivers will work for a 7800x3d, and so will chipset drivers + balanced power plan (chipset drivers change the boosting algorithms of balanced power plan to work well with 7800x3d) this basically gives you options to choose from in terms of setup.
It’s no longer correct to assert Windows 10 is preferable for 7800X3D. Considering the optimisations over time in AMD’s drivers and Microsoft’s thread scheduler, there’s no reason to avoid Win11 any more. I’ve recently set up a 7800X3D system with Win11 Pro and it works just fine

hi there, im using the same setup as you do. a 7800x3d and a 7900 XTX. i got a problem with the energy options, when i select ultimate performance it switches back to balanced as soon as i restart my pc or turn it on after shutdown.
Important: some settings will increase consumption, temperatures, and reduce the useful life of the processor depending on the overclock. I do not recommend overclocking modern processors. On the contrary, if your intention is to reduce consumption and temperatures without affecting performance, it is better to undervolt. High performance power modes will keep processor frequencies at maximum constantly (not usage). Balanced mode will cause these frequencies to fluctuate based on system demand.
Hey thanks for the video - very informative as I am building my new PC. What I am worried about is cooling for the 7800x3d. I changed PBO to -30 all cores. PBO limits to motherboard. CPU Boost Clock override to limit 200 (positive). And I got worse fps but lower temps ingame. Is this expected result?
No, if you got worse results, your OC is improper, and most likely unstable. Change it to -15 best core, -25 all other cores, then set CPU boost clock override to 0 (this only HURTS performance on a 7000x3d, it doesn't boost clocks above threshold at all) and set the cpu limits to "Motherboard".
first of all pbo is used to sustain cpu frequency. You’re getting diminishing returns because you are using 2 settings that do the same thing…. Just use pbo & pbo limits. set the thermal throttle limit to 60c. on ryzen the boost clocks are inconsistent past 60c. Your welcome
@@Rinnzlerr try an all core of- 25 first without out using a thermal throttle limit. I found that it is better to not use a limit. depending on your motherboard, ram ic’s, timings, frequency & voltage I can help you set up your ram & mobo settings

Be careful with setting pbo limit to motherboard as it can affect your cpu lifespan with higher voltage. Also, if you have like a 3080 or 4080 then disabling integrated graphics won’t be much of a performance boost as your system is going to prioritize the gpu rather then the integrated gpu

hello sir , if u can share your toughts on this plz. i want to use 7000mhz , 7200mhz ram speed while using xmp or expo for my gaming experience. Its easy to just turn on expo on x3d series and reach 7200? do i need to do manual setting or its impossible. Would appriciate if you reply sir. Great content btw
I recommend either aiming for 6400mhz at 1:1 manual settings or aiming 7800-8000mhz 2:1 manual settings. Going for 7200mhz means you'll need to run the FCLK, MCLK, and UCLK uncoupled...but with only 7200mhz you aren't making up for the latency penalty of running 2:1 as your frequency isn't high enough, so you'll lose performance over both 6400mhz 1:1 or 7800-8000mhz 2:1. I recommend 6400mhz option at 1:1 settings for the fact it's easy and consistent to achieve and it performs 99% of the way of DDR5 8000mhz at 2:1.
Decided to get 14700k instead of 7800x3d for gaming. High frames are good but smooth gameplay is better , saw 7800x3d frame drops from 350 to 250 while intel frame drops from 260 to 230-240 , i guess this will give us users a bit more smooth experience even tho it got less fps than amd. Would it be possible for you to do a video for the ryzen 7950x3d? I just built a PC with this processor and have the same motherboard as you. Would love to see a similar video for that CPU
I wonder if you can make a video with the TUF GAMING bios settings? I watched several times the video and the settings and their naming is completely different. So, in my BIOS i set the resize bar to on (it was on), disabled the integrated GPU, enabled expo II, enabled memory context (because without it, the boot was very long or didn't boot at all), enabled PBO (didn't touch other PBO settings) and set the curve to negative 20. Thats all I did in the bios. After that, when I stress with AIDA 64, it puts the CPU at 5.04, but when I enable FPU stress or memory stress along with the CPU stress, the clocks drop to 4.6. Is that normal behaviour? Shouldn't it stay at 5.05 all the time?
23.5.1 driver is the best currently? Since the last 2 drivers 23.8.2 and 23.9.1 my screen goes completely black in the middle of a game and the PC restarts by itself..
23.5.2 still holds my all-time highest GPU score in the MW2 bench at 433fps on gpu avg at 1440p. Mind you, this means you may have issues running starfield as 23.5.2 is an old driver, but runs way better on cod.
I recently build myself a new system with the ryzen 7800x3d in Asus b650e-f and a 4070ti. I noticed after building my pc that for some reason my games were having terrible drops in fps. The 1% lows were like 10 fps in easy games to run. I noticed windows download radeon drivers for the integrated graphics automatically and they would boot up with the system. For some reason whenever I closed the radeon software in task manager my fps would be fixed. I had my display cables on the gpu so Im not sure how to fix this :/. I’ve tried everything but still stuttering. My only solution is closing the radeon thing on task manager. Whenever I open google or another application in the background the problem comes back tho. I was wondering if you’d know what to do
can undervolting a 7800x3d possibly hurt anything? Like the internal memory controller? The reason I ask is that I recently had to replace my 7800x3d because of a bad memory controller. I had a -30 on all cores PBO on mine. I would run some stress test and I never had any problems. To be honest I never really had any issues running -35 on all cores either. ITs just the gains were marginal so I just set it at -35. But one day my computer woudn't post to bios. I thought it might be a bad RAM, or MOBO, so I replaced those, and I still couldn't post. It wasn't until I tried replacing the CPU did it just boot up just fine. I probably replaced the mobo and ram for no reason. I actually didn't replace the ram, I bought new ram to see if it was the issue and it wasn't. I was trying to run AMD EXPO of 6400 cl32, but I capped the speed at 6000 just because peopel said the 1:1 ratio for the infinity cache was optimal at this speed. I'm trying to find out what could have caused my CPU Internal memory controller to go bad only 3 months old. Could it have been running AMD EXPO? Could it have been running undervolt on cpu? Could it have been the damn cable mod extensions?

That's because the config improves performance across the board, and allows the GPU to boost its performance a lot. 90% cpu bottleneck just means your GPU is now way faster than before. Look at the individual cpu and gou results to get the full picture of your system performance.

Since i had only XMP ram, I had to do 2 clicks instead of 1 in the bios to get them to their rated 6000mhz cl30 speed. That 1 more click saved me 100€. Worth it in my opinion 😂😂 DOCP and XMP are basically just the programming they have to get the ram to go faster, and only the difference in certified kits is only price and 30 seconds of your time
Hi! My configuration: asus b650e-e, 7800x3d, ddr5 gskill 6400 32cl (2x16). Water cooling of the processor. Is it safe to use your settings if there are no fans on gskill?
game boost on or off? I have it on, but default should be off... variable refresh rate and game mode on? I have 165hz and about at least 3-400 fps average in competitive fps games
Those results make consider getting a R7 7800X3D, I am currently using a i7-12700K with a 4090 and I am getting (CPU result) Avg: 277 FPS, Low 5th: 233 FPS, Low 1st: 210 FPS, Bottleneck: 92%. I am undecided on which AM5 MB and RAM sticks to get. I know for a fact that I do not want A-Die rams, so any recomendations?
I'm going to convince you to go for a 7800x3d even more. After I finished overclocking my 7800x3d, it turned out to be a better bin than my 7950x3d, which meant it was easily able to run 6400mhz at cl28 36 36 36 + subtimings, and in turn it BEAT my 7950x3d by 10FPS in averages, and by 15-20FPS in the 1% lows :D. Do keep in mind, I did this on A-die ram, on M die ud lose about 5-7fps because you can't push it as far, but 5-7FPS isn't much so I wouldn't worry about it. If you don't want A die, your literal only option is M die. If you are going for M die, motherboard doesn't matter at all basically, and you can go for virtually any mobo you like. The cheapest good mobo you can possibly get is either a Giganyte B650 Aorus Elite,ASUS ROG Strix B650-A, or the MSI B650 EDGE WIFI. If you want higher end, the Asrock Steel Legend X670E, or the ASUS X670E CROSSHAIR GENE are great.

Note: USE BALANCED POWER PROFILE IF USING CHIPSET DRIVERS! Made a mistake at time of filming!
Thank you for the hefty views over time. This tells me people are having a rough time with setting up the 7800x3d to this day😂 I'm considering making an updated setup guide for the 7950x3d also right before I give it to my girlfriend as an upgrade 👍
any reason ?

FYI: You need Accelerated Hardware GPU Sheduling enabled for Cyberpunk 2077 Frame generation to work.
FSR 2.3 which is on Cyberpunk doesn't have FG.

So better leave it to the balance?

No, if you got worse results, your OC is improper, and most likely unstable.
Change it to -15 best core, -25 all other cores, then set CPU boost clock override to 0 (this only HURTS performance on a 7000x3d, it doesn't boost clocks above threshold at all) and set the cpu limits to "Motherboard".

I recommend 6400mhz option at 1:1 settings for the fact it's easy and consistent to achieve and it performs 99% of the way of DDR5 8000mhz at 2:1.

since Win10 one can use the ssd and boot another hardware up with it. A few rounds of Windows Updates and you are good to go. If it is just an office PC and there are a LOT of things you would have to make new, then you may consider it.
BUT: always use a fresh system!
Why it is "slower" in your case i don't know. Maybe on you old ssd there was Windows 10 and now you reinstalled windows 11?
What about Antivirus software etc? Is memory integrity and vbs OFF when using Windows 11?
Whats graphics card do you have and what and in what order do you install everything?
And, since this is 6 months old: did you "resolve your issue"?
Never worked and made changes in bios before. Have same cpu and 4070ti and playing Wukong that crashes constantly.. not sure what should i do, update bios and check voltage?
in helldivers 2 per hardware info 64 , i get my soc voltage for under a second during a 40 minute run spikes to 2.4v! and cpu average to 140!
tdie to 140 as well...im hopefull its a reporting error...i have a -30 offset and a vdd negative offset incase im wrong asrocks newest bios 🤞
Did you set your vsoc? Even on auto it shouldn't go higher than 1.3v. I've set mine on 1.2v and it's fine. 1.25v is ok as well.
Hello beefy-tech,. i got a 7800x3d on the way, Absolutely great videos man, just undecided, i ordered a x670e gaming plus MSI board, that literally has no reviews or videos anywhere, not sure why, maybe you have seen this board or heard something good/bad about it, if not i will add my experience when i set it up. I wanted to ask about ram, basically i want a gskill trident Z5 kit in silver or white, but it seems im only able to find them in XMP configurations in my side of europe... could you potentially reccomend any ram you had experience with from gskill xmp? i wouldnt mind tweaking things myself, just unsure about which one to go for.. looking at 2x32gb 6400 cl32, 6000 cl30 and similar, would you reccomend a higher speed one ? i could go for 2x16gb kit aswell. Rest of the configuration will be gallahad ii 360 aio, nzxt h7 flow and 4080 most likely.

I'm using windows 11 home, I don't understand why I need to switch back to windows 10 pro. It seemed ridiculous to me.
This video is many months old. During this period W11 23h2 wasn't widely available, and 22h2 was way worse. Now, as of the last 4 months, Windows 11 23H2 is widely available and is equal or even better in most games.
What are your considerations for windows 10 vs 11? What makes windows 10 superior?
windows 11 now
I used your config file and for some reason the fps went up but now shows my CPU as 90% bottleneck? I have the same processor and gpu.
That's because the config improves performance across the board, and allows the GPU to boost its performance a lot. 90% cpu bottleneck just means your GPU is now way faster than before. Look at the individual cpu and gou results to get the full picture of your system performance.
@@Beefy-Tech or does it mean the GPU is used because of all the low settings, the more settings I turn to max, the more it relies on the GPU? Its a good config btw, I had mine set this way before I chose to let the game pick my settings automatically.
@@blacklightrr it makes life easier for the gpu basically, so yes.
I have 7800x3d with 240mm AIO. If I set to quiet fan curve it basically runs the CPU at 60 degrees. If I use a more aggressive fan curve it runs about 45 degrees but fans go up and down every time I load a webpage or open a program etc.
Is it OK to have CPU run steady 60 degrees?
What adbout if I don’t want to go back to windows 11? Any advice for bios setup with 11?

I have 4080 with 7800x3d paired with a micron 5200 cl40 that I overclocked to 5400 cl36. Should I upgrade my ram if I mainly play on high settings?
Basically, you don't have to upgrade your ram as the 7800x3d barely scales at all with ram speed increases. If you have spare money, and nothing else to upgrade, go for the ram upgrade, but if 2-3% fps gains aren't worth your time and money, then don't worry about it👍
@@Beefy-Tech Thank you! I was worried that I was missing out on a big performance gain. I plan to move to 4K gaming, which will make my GPU the bottleneck, so RAM should be a lesser issue. You save me the problem of selling and buying a new ram kit.
@@mapringg no problem fam! Hope you enjoy the 4K upgrade, its definitely a whole different experience.
Even at 1440p ram makes barely any difference on 7800x3d. I tested my ram kit at maxed out ddr5 6400mhz cl28-36 36 against completely STOCK XMP OFF and in call of duty warzone it was a 11 FPS difference in the benchmark from 507fps cpu avg xmp off to 518fps avg max OC ram...basically it makes no real difference for gaming.
Proceed with caution. I made the recommended changes to my MSI Pro 650 and then my computer didn’t boot up. The orange DRAM and red CPU lights appeared on my motherboard. Hopefully reflashing my bios will fix this issue
@@erik5627 only the X670E gene motherboard is capable of these speeds. Generic motherboards that have 4 dimm slots won't work with this. You just have to clear CMOS to fix the booting issue, which you can do by removing physical battery off the motherboard, or reflashing bios.
@@Beefy-TechThank you for the tip. I'll try clearing the CMOS because I've been unsuccessful at reflashing the bios.

Hi beefy, I have a 3080 ti and I intend to upgrade my 10700k with a 13700k, I will use it mainly for gaming and for programs like matlab and davinci resolve studio, but in this case I use the GPU encoder. So, do you think 7800x3d is a better choice? Will you do a comparison between the two? A certain RUclipsr terrified me about the 1% lows. Thank you for your transparency and professionalism
Definitely think the 7800x3d is the play fam. For gaming it will be easily winning, for multi threading it'll lose, but the multi threading difference for normal consumer use won't be insanely noticeable, but the gaming difference will be insanely noticeable!
The 1% lows on AMD are not a problem, infact they are awesome.
The 7800x3d will future proof up to a 4090 guaranteed, and it provides a multiple year upgrade path, while LGA 1700 only has 14th gen left in it.

Are you using the t-force delta cl 28 dimms on this rig? Will these settings work on a 7950x3d with this ram kit?
I'm using a G skill 7600mhz 32gb kit detuned to 6400Mhz at CL28, with full manual timings. If your Tforce delta lot is a 7200mhz+ kit, it will most likely work with my settings IF you have a good cpu bin.

I recommend disabling HAGS 100% for sure. Only time hags on is better is for laptops, where the occasional laptop will perform better with HAGS on.

I still think that playing on a XTX at 1090mv without crashes is a total myth
Foreals I have to put the voltage up to 1125mv
It worked perfectly fine until about season 5 reloaded, I then updated drivers and issues started arriving in Al Mazrah. I now run 1110mv on it to never get a crash in al Mazrah.
1125 seems stable to me but it's really tricky to know for sure as I still get driver crashes in games that may be a bit unoptimized. Trying just a minimal install of adrenaline and msi afterburner to see if it's more stable.
@@matthewcooksey5411I tried MSI Afterburner and it was the same. I rather just leave it at stock so I never crash. Performance gains from UV are negligible.
Hello Sir!
Is it big of an issue if my RAM doesnt support EXPO? I'm planning on upgrading my CPU (and literally everything else, just so you know) and wanted to get a 7800x3d myself. But since my RAM (Corsair Venegance 32gb 6000 (which I was going to buy)) says "XMP ready" i kinda got curious if it will even work properly with the ryzen.
Just hoping for some help since you seem to be very experienced in this niche. I'm not aiming for overclocking my system. But being able to use the performance I paid for, would be a pleasure.
Hi! I use gskill 6400 xpm, with a 7800x3d processor, everything is fine, the ddr5 profile in the xpm bios, you can safely take ryzen
Buildzoid has a video on youtube how to set RAM on AMD system. He didn't use EXPO, all settings he does manually. Many people confirmed that his method is working in their computers.
I have a 64gb 6000mhz cl30 G.skill ram kit which is only XMP certified with my 7800x3d and X670E-F strix. The ram is not on the QVL list of working ram kits, but it's other model which was just expo certified (voltage and timings were identical), is instead, and it still works great. It doesnt matter at all if it's certified in any way up until you turn on DOCP, since it runs at the default frequency which is way lower. Since i had only XMP ram, I had to do 2 clicks instead of 1 in the bios to get them to their rated 6000mhz cl30 speed. That 1 more click saved me 100€. Worth it in my opinion 😂😂
DOCP and XMP are basically just the programming they have to get the ram to go faster, and only the difference in certified kits is only price and 30 seconds of your time
Hi! My configuration: asus b650e-e, 7800x3d, ddr5 gskill 6400 32cl (2x16). Water cooling of the processor. Is it safe to use your settings if there are no fans on gskill?
Can someone explain what does 10x scalar actually do?
game boost on or off?
