Fair play that's a nice approach to setting up a pc for a beginner 😊 I think you explained each topic well and nice to have the varieties covered of different components and manufacturers. I can add a recommendation to fan control is the software apley called "fancontrol". Justified by being able to do multiple fan curves for individual components. Also the ability to control the fans from the gpu not just the cpu. Also use the hottest component to ramp up the fans ❤
Jason, I just now finished my first ever PC build - Ryzen 7800x3D and 4090 included - and your guides on the order picking process, building setup, and this post build setup were crucial for getting me through everything. Thank you, I couldn't have done it without you, much appreciation for all your hard work!
Rebar / SAM works for some 5000 series GPUs as well! Works for my Sapphire Pulse 5700xt with a notable increase in performance. Also, undervolting is pretty easy to do for AMD cpus that have PBO2. Set my 5800X3D to a -20 volt curve and it runs about 1% faster, but more importantly 10% cooler. No stability issues so far. Well worth trying out.
This is an amazing video, really thorough and easy to understand. Massive thanks for it. I do have a question related to the NVidia drivers though, is there a meaningful performance difference in gaming/productivity workloads with either one of the driver sets installed? I wanna use my new pc for both and am unsure whether I should install the "game ready" drivers or the "studio drivers". Knowing if gaming performance suffers a lot with the studio drivers (or vice-versa) would be a great help.
I followed this video step by step on everything. This was my first pc build and first time ever doing anything like this before. Everything came up smooth and my pc runs great. Thank you for all your help and the great information in this video.

I am SO happy I found you! Thanks to a video from a TikTok creator who provided a "$800 PC build " video, I was able to get the basics of what I needed to build - and surprise surprise as I went further into my research I realized I didn't want that low of a budget as a first time builder who wants their PC to last a long a$$ time. Your channel helped me make final decisions on major parts of the PC and figure out what's best to be paired with all the parts I'm using. I almost made SEVERAL bad purchases thatd be hard to rectify by return/exchanges when all I want is this process to be as of a breeze as possible for the first time builder in me !! Not only are you informative without making the viewer feel inferior for not knowing things (a handful of people have given me a bad taste in my mouth because I felt that wa) and answer questions past what I thought I needed answered, but your enthusiasm and l personality are infectious in the BEST way! I've seen a lot of video's like this and most are decent but have unneeded bloat of some kind or have no order or structure for a sequence of events that someone that has zero experience needs. Its fine to say "do this this this and this" but still confusing and can intimidate you more when you don't have a clue. This video has pretty much no bloat and it gives you a sequence and an order that makes sense and confidence that you set your rig up right. Great job!
@PCBuilderChannel Just finished my first build. Literally last night and it works! Your parts list for a $1700 mid range and this video. Only difficulty was windows 11 said my new computer with a Ryzen 5 7600 and RTX 4070ti didn't meet minimum system specs and wouldn't install!? So I wasted money on a win11 pro key. So made a new win10 usb and its up and running. Though for some reason my Gigabyte motherboad is stopping at boot and I have to press N before windows loads up. No idea how to fix that. Thanks for what you do! Between the parts and the software recomendations and how to's I would have never even attempted it.
Great video, some of us will use it as a reference 😊. Also if your bios has a letter after the number, it’s a beater bios so keep checking back until there is one with just numbers.
Thanks! Honestly I've never really looked at the naming scheme for bios versions between companies. Gigabyte often uses a letter after to denote a slightly newer build of a previous bios (typically minor bug fixes) without changing the number. But you can always double check the bios notes on the website page.
Dude you're seriously awesome, I was having problems with ram overclocking, i could enable the xmp profile i wanted but it didnt actually change when i entered my pc and verified. Turns out all I had to do was disable CSM in my bios and voila, my ram speed finally reflected my xmp profile. 😊❤ You're THE BEST.
Just used your code for windows 10 on the pc my son and I built him after watching your video atpeast a dozen times. Thanks for info. Was a great experience with him.
This video has been an absolutely fantastic resource. One note, on my Asus Strix Z690-A Gaming Wifi D4 mobo: after Windows install from USB, I came to a halt because I needed to download and install the LAN/Wi-Fi drivers before I could connect to the internet. I used the same USB drive and 2nd PC to download and then install on the new machine. After that was back on track updating windows. Hopefully this helps if someone hits the same hiccup. Great video and amazing resource as always Jason! Just wrapping up my first build ever!!
Thanks for all the very helpful videos!!!! I was able to purchase, put together and optimize a great gaming rig with your help and now all that’s left it to wait for my games to download and install 😁

Great video bro, covered a lot of ground rapidly and succintly. I was curious about the AIO cooler settings, I'm glad you dropped a quick note in there on the settings you use and minimum allowed speeds. I just built out a vaporwave themed Raptor Lake build on a Z790 Elite AX, and she's so gorgeous. Custom airbrushing and lights, I'll post a video up on it soon. I use mine primarily for running engineering software, but wanted a sick-ass aesthetic for my home office - haven't tried to game yet, but it'll run Fusion360 and DaVinci Resolve 17 simultaneously. Damn I love all these cores 😍
Jason you can mark off another one, I completed my first build with your help. I brought my windows key through your link too. This guide is very helpful and makes be feel a bit more confident with the whole process, thanks man.😀
@@freak8615 Everything is running great mate. Just make sure to check the bios version of the motherboard and make sure you update it if its on an older version. Your videos are so incredibly concise and comprehensive I don't often leave comments but you have made my first pc build a breeze and minimised the time I had to spend looking stuff up. Thank you bro!
Glad I could help!
@@PCBuilderChannel 💞💞
I’m so upset that I didn’t find this channel years ago when I got into PCs. Your videos are just as long/short as all the other big name channels but you somehow manage to cover 10x as much you’re FAR more thorough at explanations, and you dont convolute the information making it much easier to understand the important stuff. Thanks yet again!
Thanks for the awesome feedback! It means a lot
This video is gold. Just built my first PC and this is exactly what I needed. Many thanks for the guide!
So glad it was helpful! Congrats on your first build! Show off a build pic if you like on twitter/threads @pcbuilderjason
I researched, built, and tweaked my new PC after watching a lot of your videos. I can't thank you enough for all the info and updated vids. I usually build a new PC every 8 years so I have to do all the research all over again each time. Your vids helped me get my new PC all bought and setup a lot faster than my previous builds. Much love, mate!

Cats: April fool's? You humans are fools year round.
Hahah here's a bricked mobo happy April fooled day
April may June July and August fools 😉
Holy cow I've had my PC for 3 years and not done anything like this. Wow! I was always scared to mess around with my bios but after you explained it, I had no issues!
Much needed thank you Jason! I'm just about to build another gaming PC for my second kid to play Fortnite with us for our RUclips channel, and everytime I get to this point I get nervous and pass it off to best buy to finish. This third build I will use this video to finish It myself!
You got this!!
Best wishes on the build (:
Just finished building my pc and want to get it game ready so far I’ve watch a few videos on this most said the same basic stuff but you really explained everything to us to show us why we want to do whatever your doing.
As I make thsi comment I am about to plug it in and get to work
Thank you! So glad it was helpful!!
Your videos are so detailed. Can't wait to give you the update on my PC on the next BMB. This really helped me with updating the BIOS. You explain things so easily and perfectly. Thank you, Jason.
Thank you Joeker! Looking forward to hearing about your upgrade!
Oh I love this tutorial. I'm doing most of these things but it's nice to have a complete list with step by step instructions.
So glad its helpful!!
I literally just got all my parts this is perfect
Great timing! Check out our How to Build your PC video too if that's helpful
@@PCBuilderChannel already planned ahah i also used one of your builds that uses the intel arc a750 gpu. Love the channel
Just built my first Pc following all your videos on RUclips. I have been watching them for 6-8 months, and I have learned so much from you. I also got good deals following your advice. Just wanted to come here and say Thank you. 😁

It's ok to have the BIOS and windows on the same drive? Or should they be on separate USB drives?
Yes same drive

First time pc builder here and been a macOS user the last 14 years. THANK YOU for actually showing detailed step by step process. I knew nothing about anything pc related, but after watching this video a couple of times I don’t feel as scared to fk up my soon to be new pc
So glad its helpful! You got this (:
That's amazing, congratulations on your first build! And what a combo! You're so welcome, thanks so much for tuning in :) Glad that worked out.
Ehat ig my computer sais it ran in to problem
SO good! Thanks for this video. I haven't built a system in maybe 15 years and so much has changed.
Happy to help! I actually started the channel when I came back to PC Building after a break and wishes there was a channel to catch me up
This is an amazing video, really thorough and easy to understand.
Same question, what option did you go for?
I followed this video step by step on everything. This was my first pc build and first time ever doing anything like this before. Everything came up smooth and my pc runs great. Thank you for all your help and the great information in this video.
That's awesome! Congrats on your first build and so glad we could help! Thanks for letting us know it means a lot

haha no joke I swear! Mr. Bear wouldn't let us (;

Very informative, great personality. From picking the parts, to building and setting up the PC, your videos walked me through it.
I just want to say thank you so much Jason, you are a life saver.
Why thank you so much! Glad you're finding the channel so helpful :) Thanks for tuning in!

YOU ARE A GOD! Thanks to your amazing Tutorial i was able to fully set up my new pc that thanks to your tutorial and other youtubers i was able to build it myself!
So happy that we could help you! Congratulations on your build! If you build it, it will run :))
Your videos are always a treat to watch!
You and @JayzTwoCents are my top two favorite PC/techie creators on YT 💓💓

Omg. I did it. I have a working gaming PC. Mostly thanks to these guide videos. Thank you so much
We love it!! Congrats on your build! So happy that we could help :)
the tip with ramping up the CPU cooler first was a really good one! for some reason i had all my fans (cpu + case fans) all on the same curve, i changed it now and put the CPU one to ramp up a lot sooner, has helped with temps and noise levels a lot!
Glad we were able to help! Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much Jason for a thorough guide on how to set a PC up! I finished assembling my build on the weekend and followed these instructions immediately after. For a 1st time build it went really smooth following the detailed steps and help links you provided. I am really happy with this new hobby and look forward to seeing your updates in the future over the current market environment for PC builds.

Just built my first rig and this was amazing content!
Great job!
Much appreciated, thanks for the feedback! Glad you found this one so clear and helpful.
Yay, glad it all worked out!! Happy to help! Thanks so much for watching :)
This has been one of the most helpful pages for me on my journey to build a Gaming PC. Thank you for all your work.
You're so welcome, glad you found this one so helpful! Thanks for watching :D
Just used your code for windows 10 on the pc my son and I built him after watching your video atpeast a dozen times. Thanks for info. Was a great experience with him.
How awesome to share that with your son!! Congrats on the build! Glad I could help!
Thank you and thanks for sharing!
Thanks for all the very helpful videos!!!! I was able to purchase, put together and optimize a great gaming rig with your help and now all that’s left it to wait for my games to download and install 😁
Amazing! Congrats on your new rig and so glad we could help!
I was so skeptical of this because of the date it was posted on, but this is amazing. Will definitely refer to this the next time I upgrade my system. Trying to remember every step is hard. Thank you thank you.
I know! We debated if we should post it on April 1st but didn't want to miss our constant Saturday upload schedule lol.
So glad its helpful!
I must have watched this over 20x's. I wish i Could like this video 2x that (40 likes)!!! Just soooooo good. Thanks man!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching (:
Jason you can mark off another one, I completed my first build with your help. I brought my windows key through your link too. I followed everything you said and only issue I had was the first boot up, MSI board needed bios update, I was confused at first but you mentioned this may happen. Thank you Jason your information was very helpful and I'm extremely happy 😁

I never knew about the SAM settings in BIOS! Thanks so much for making this guide
Great video man. I have built many pc's but the last time I have put a pc together was 7 years ago a 4790k and 980ti system and I have been saving for a while for my next pc. Finally got most of my parts together, just waiting for the 7800x3d chips to come out and I can put it all together. I have no experience with the new stuff especially with the AMD motherboards and bios settings. Nervous enough as it is and the first thing I have to do is use q flash to flash my Gigabyte bios, just hope nothing goes wrong. This guide is very helpful and makes be feel a bit more confident with the whole process, thanks man.😀
How did you make out? also I just recently bought a 7800 x3d how are you liking it so far? I am going to pair mine with an rx 7900 xtx
@@freak8615 Everything is running great mate. Just make sure to check the bios version of the motherboard and make sure you update it if its on an older version. The newer bios takes care of the voltage problems which were burning the cpu's and also help with ram compatibility. I think you will be very happy with cpu and the 7900xtx is an awesome card. Good luck mate, hope all goes well for you.
I really wish I found a video like this 4.5 years ago...
Im building a new PC tonight, but watching this made me check current setup BIOS. I left so many things disabled, not getting my full RAM speed, no PBO... Wow! 😅
So happy to help!
Man, I wish this video was out just a week ago. I must have been watching more than 10 different videos in comparison to your full guide and that many videos means having to figure out all the inconsistencies each video had with each other.
Gonna have to through these steps: power plan, resizable bar/smart access memory, PBO, Fan curve, and benchmarking.
To think all those hours of stress could have been averted if I had just waited for a week. Thank you for the video!
Sorry for the timing!
And glad to hear this guide is feeling helpful. Its a ton of info so I was hoping to get it all in one place for builders (:
