This was the Fantus Clinic in Chicago, IL. It was the outpatient clinic of the old Cook County Hospital complex. It was a separate building from the Hospital itself. Patients came here for doctor appointments just like you would see your own doctor. No patients ever stayed here overnight. They came for their appointments and left. If they presented with something requiring inpatient care, they were admitted to the Cook County Hospital across the street. This building was built in 1959, not 2002. It was about 57 years old when it stopped being used for patient care. The very quiet room seen in the early part of the video was not an X-ray or "cancer treatment" suite as the "explorers" guess. It was an audiology booth used to test a patient's hearing. The patient would sit in the sound proof booth wearing headphones. The audiologist sat in an adjacent room to conduct the test and would visually observe the patient through the glass window, as shown in the video.
I work at Stroger. This is Fantus clinic not the main hospital. It’s torn down now and the new clinic building is on Polk st. The old cook county hospital is now being renovated into a hotel and shops believe.
@@grizzlycountry1030 Or did the commenter mean "worked", past tense? Since Stroger is a county hospital, not saying anything is an example of "Good enough for government work"
Wow what a good video. It is so unfortunate that these cities are lowing these buildings that are in seemingly really great condition to just allow them to sit there and decay when so many poor people are sleeping out on the streets. It is a disgrace and someone with a voice and clout need to stop this waste of millions of dollars, for what to deteriorate back to the earth. What a friggin shame!!! But, enjoyed the video. Keep em coming!!!
Sad how our corrupt Politicians Close down these Hugh expensive building and so many Homeless and Drug addiction on the street dying in the winter time , meanwhile here a place that could be converted into Community help center ..
Bro if you get a wide angle lens for your camera like 14mm for your bando explorations that shit would pop. It would be so much easier for the viewer to get a sense of the space. Good stuff though
The sound proof room at the beginning is used for an audiologist to test a person’s hearing. It’s not an X-ray booth. I’ve been inside them while they’re being used cause I used to be super hard of hearing.
I believe you were in the Fantus building, which was basically like Stroger professional building that houses clinics. It was recently shut down because it is set to be demolished to make way for a parking lot and all of the offices are being relocated to the new building that should be opening up in the next few months.
Yep! I was talking to someone at the new Stroger building and they said they want to demolish it but it’s registered as a historical building and so they can’t demolish it.
Do you do any research on these places before you visit? The info you presented here is not correct at all. The building you were in was the Fantus Health Center. The old Cook County Hospital is across the street...the long narrow building. The old hospital was closed in 2002 and the new hospital (John H. Stroger, Jr Hospital), located behind it, was opened.
I REMEMBER THE OLD COOK COUNTY HOSPITAL BUILDING. I WAS BORN AT THE OLD BUILDING IN THE LATE 70'S. I WONDER WHAT THE CITY GOING TO DO WITH THE BUILDING. THE BUILDING ITSELF IS HISTORICAL.
I was born in 2000 and I never went inside because it was closed I recently been going to the other cool country. But i wish I'll go inside just one time
By the looks of the John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital on Google Earth it shows they are building on to this hospital as of 4/7/2017 and it is still shown as being part of the NRHP. NRHP reference # 06001017. I can't believe this place opened in 2002... not 1972 by the use of the tiles. Now this building is gone...
On Google Earth it shows cranes and other machinery in the area right next to it. If I could post a Google Earth screen shot I would do that to help explain.
Interesting. Yeah see I don’t see that. But they did build a wall around it and tear a bunch of stuff down in 2017, so that might be what you see. If you drive by you’ll see that the building is abandoned now.

This is where I use to go for my appointments from 2010 til closing down, brings back memories.

Did you notify stroger police of criminal trespass since you work there or are you willing to risk your job for failure to report it?
@@grizzlycountry1030 Or did the commenter mean "worked", past tense?
Since Stroger is a county hospital, not saying anything is an example of "Good enough for government work"
Hotel an shops for gredy, nasty rich people?
Even though the patients are gone, the germs and diseases are still lurking on everything. Including the door handles you just touched.
Germs and viruses don't live that long outside a host
I remember this place, they had you waiting all damn day to see a doctor and I remember those orange plastic card they give you!

Great video I love watching Abandoned Hospitals.
I was born there in 1976 in the old building
that was fantus where they prescribed psych meds and also had a pediatrician there I used to go there when I was in rehab
Sad how our corrupt Politicians Close down these Hugh expensive building and so many Homeless and Drug addiction on the street dying in the winter time , meanwhile here a place that could be converted into Community help center ..
That was an audiology booth to test your hearing.
They finally revamped the place into an awesome new Hyatt Hotel that has been completely modernized.
This is the clinic, not the hospital as people have said, it even says it on the posters...

No excuse why a 15year old building has issues so bad that it was closed and abandoned.

Shameka Jackson ruclips.net/video/Xj1f12s84lM/видео.html this is a video of the old cook county hospital. They’re currently restoring it!
Good video. Thanks for filming.
Nice on getting it done, looks like a really cool explore, I’ll sub you 👌🏻
This was Fantus. As an employee Stroger we are still open and taking patients. You should change the name of your post, very misleading.

We don't live too far from the medical district. Thanks for sharing this. I think the building is gone now.
Did I just see a file on Ebola Updates at 4:16?

Kinda weird it had older stuff in it and looked older inside to be opened in 2002 ? And then they close it in that short amount of time ? Odd
yeah the building is old. It was opened as the John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital in 2002
The building is older than 2002 it's from 1959
Chris this is actually Fantus Clinic
I was born in 2000 and I never went inside because it was closed I recently been going to the other cool country. But i wish I'll go inside just one time
3:50 those rooms are used for testing hearing.
Ohhhhhhhh. How embarrassing...thought it was for X-rays haha. I totally understand though it was totally sound deadened
ironically , I just took a pre employment hearing test at the new Stroger hospital today ❤
This building looks older than 2002
Yes. The dates are a bit confusing. I was a patient there in 1973.

Will Butter this is the Fantus clinic, much older than the Stroger hospital which is still running. It’s been torn down now
This is the Fantus Clinic. I used to go here to see my old psychiatrist. I haven't been there in years.

There's an abandoned hospital in aurora - I think it used to be mercy hospital.

IS AMERICA CAVING INTO ITSELF IMPLODING?

Yes sir. It is on the NRHP that’s why they haven’t torn it down yet. Why do you say it looks like they’re building on to it?

Any one could be in that building I'd be scared
Jessica Garcia me too. I wonder if it's hunted or not. But I would be scared for real
at the end the sign on the wall said 2014. so it must have recently closed . also this is built in 1959
I took anxiety therapy here
Why was this closed?
Is this still abandoned like this light on and all??!! I need to go asap haha

What is the deal with that awful, ugly rectangular tile on the walls.
la institución se ve aún en Buenas condiciones. y el hecho de que tenga energía eléctrica. nada destruido solo un poco sucio. por que lo abandonaría
