- I saw many videos on youtube about the "film look" with old digital cameras with CCD sensor. So I immediately bought 25 cameras. I will test them. Today, the Canon IXUS 80 from 2008

The magic of old Canon DIGIC chips
Exactly, I enjoyed POV much more with the old camera than with the new ones. These compacts have their charms and they work great with the presets. More videos like this please.👌👌👌

i have an ixus 105 from 2010 and i think it's pretty similar to this ixus 80. Do you mind sharing some camera settings that you use in this street photography video? Thanks in advance :)
Yes, basically all Ixus cameras are the same. I don't have much to give away. It's very simple. I always use the automatic mode.
Looks nothing like film. Looks like photos from a small sensor digicam.

I enjoyed your video. Recently I found a Canon Elph 180 at a thrift store for $4. (US) I will add it to my collection of old digi-cams Canon Powershot SD1100 & 1200, S90, Kodak, Nikon, Samsung, Olympus, Casio, Vivitar. Pretty soon it will be hard to know which camera to take with me. lol Best of luck in your photography journey.

I think my favorite is the Kodak Easy Share M577 with the touch screen, Schneider lens, and the film filters Kodacolor, extachrome, Kodachrome, Tri-X, Sepia, and I believe B&W.

I always use the full automatic mode on old digital cameras. I did that here too. Then I did a bit of editing in Lightroom, used the vintage filters there and that was it.

Adopted this beauty from my mom's cubbard and I'm in love ❤️ The colours and the handling is excellent 👌 I use it to back up my B&W Ricoh GRD. It's a sleeper build, a real wolf in sheep's clothing. Both cams are used for Jpeg shots that I just touch up quickly. I love them both.

@@pixelkiez They are my everyday carry cams as they fit in small pockets easily. They're so small I bring them along even when I use my DSLR's.
I am watching this video on 4k monitor and those photos look totally great to me. Compositionaly of course, but also technically. No need for more mpx or newer sensors.
Absolutely. If you want to take good photos quickly and easily, you don't need the latest technology or spend a lot of money.

I own a simple Canon DSLR but also still old Canon one shot Cam, i it because it does pretty good Videos for Cam of this Generation , photography also looks pretty neat when you know how to use them. 12 MP Cam but had it on 8 MP all the time to reduce Noise while shooting Photos. Today i enjoy having RAW but JPG only was my start and how i learned it not having RAW on my Hands

with chdk, the ixus 80 can shoot in raw (dng) and if you process the raws not in adobe camera raw but a better converter that does it mathematically corret, the results are excellent, way superior in most lighting conditions to in-camera jpeg, while still maintaining the typical colours of this cam. and with todays ai tools like topaz, you can quadruple the resolution while still looking non artifical if you mix it with the original photo. 3 dollar camera > priceless photos
Thanks for your comment. I had already gotten the tip with chdk, but somehow I couldn't get the software to run in the Canon. Which isn't a bad thing either. The jpegs are completely sufficient for me. And as you said, with the new AI tools there are even more options to get the best out of the photos.
@@pixelkiez if you tried raw on the ixus 80, you probably dont wanna go back to jpeg in most cases, raw gives addional dynamic range which is cut off in jpeg mode, and cant be substituted/recovered/faked by anything afterwards. chdk is easy to set up with sdminste or other methods, important is to use the correct firmware version, there are 2 or 3 for this camera. when it runs, leave everything on default and just activate raw,dng in the menu, done.
btw chdk has timelapse scripts, for which the ixus 80 is ideal because of its colour reproduction: ruclips.net/video/i0UZA_bUo3Y/видео.html

Hey, thank you very much. I only used the flash in the underground car park and then turned it off. My white balance was on auto and the rest of the camera was completely in auto mode. But the images were then edited with Lightroom.

Hallo und vielen Dank. Schau mal bei Sekunde 0:44 im Video. ;-) Ich habe vor über einem Jahr über 20 Kameras bei ebay kleinanzeigen für 80 Euro gekauft. Da war die Ixus 80 mit dabei. Habe also weniger als 5 Euro dafür bezahlt. Da die Kamera mittlerweile so im Hype ist, weiß ich dass die Preise mittlerweile viel zu hoch sind. Es wird leider sehr schwierig werden, die Kamera nochmal billig zu bekommen.
I was goin to buy fujifilm x100t found it abt 150$ then this video was suggested to me lol, I mean fuji has better image quality but canon still have good images especially its price, found it abt 25$ wut do u think should I go for? I already own a nikon d3400, all I was gonna buy first is the 35mm dx but then I asked myself why don't I choose the fujifilm since has same price as the lens lol

So I would choose the Fujifilm X100T. This is a very good always-on camera in my opinion. And with the film simulations you have a lot of fun

I think so. Since there is also a CCD sensor installed.
If u enjoy digicams try the canon s90 or s 95 shoots raw and Is pretty neat..only issue is the size lol... awesome pov ...btw u got a load of cams for that price .. collect em while u can prices going like hot cakes

i have a S110 and it is a great EDC Camera. Still looking for a S95 for the nice CCD.

what do you think about ixus 190? would it be somehow better / faster than this one? i think sensor is same, optics maybe better?
The Ixus 190 should be a lot better. She is 9 years older and was one of the last with a CCD sensor. The autofocus should be a lot faster. And of course 20MP is better than 8MP. And above all, the display is much better.
Do not want to bother you, but I think you should blur the registration plates of these cars. I think in Germany there could be an issues with privacy
Thanks, but it's not necessary. Anyone who photographs a car and then puts the picture on the Internet did not first have to make the license plate unrecognizable. The District Court of Kassel decided as early as 2007 (Ref.: 1 T 75/07). Accordingly, license plates are not sensitive data. They are freely accessible and visible to everyone. The situation is different if it is clear when the recording was made. Therefore, German dashcam channels have to make the license plates unrecognizable.

I bet from a distance people viewed you as using a cell phone to photograph. Looks capable of rendering good photos. Would imagine tough situations, lighting wise, could be difficult for the camera, but mostly great results, as in all about the story anyway. The two young ladies with the puppy -- love that shot! Have never eaten at Angry Chicken. But it has to be good. And yes, the burrito store has tamales, too. They are delicious. With the camera you really don't notice anymore. In low light, nothing works without a flash. But it was still fun. Greetings to California.

You can use any Fuji / Canon / Panasonic with a CCD sensor that has 8-12 megapixels. They usually deliver very good pictures. It always depends on what is available to you.

I simply use the automatic mode on the camera and then edit the pictures in Lightroom.
Hübsch gemachtes Video und sind auch beeindruckende Aufnahmen dabei. Habe selbst eine Sammlung alter Digicams und benutze sie auch. Aus den Biestern kann man mehr rausholen als man glaubt :-).

Als ich dein Video gesehen habe, fing mein Hirn an zu rattern. Da war doch irgendwo, da muss doch, und siehe da ganz hinten im Schrank eine alte Canon PowerShot A 590, mal sehen was die so kann.
Na das klingt doch perfekt. Ich glaube mit der kann man auch viel Spaß haben. Hat auch nen alten CCD Sensor verbaut, macht sicher gute Bilder.
I really enjoyed this video!! I have a Canon SD1100, SD1200, and S90 plus other older digi-cams I have found at thrift stores. I've enjoyed shooting with them! I prefer a viewfinder because the LCD screen is hard to see in bright sunlight. Best of luck in your photography journey!!

Du holst ne Menge raus aus der kleinen Kiste, alle Achtung! Probier mal die Canon S95, die hat auch den "Film-Look" wegen ihres CCD-Sensors, liefert aber auch RAW und hat beinahe professionelle Einstellungen, inklusive fixer Zoombrennweiten.

@@pixelkiez Thanks for your reply. I just watched the video - at the beginning you said you must shoot in RAW, but the Ixus 80 doesn't shoot in RAW, so do you just apply this preset anyway and adjust accordingly?
@@pduna90 Yes it still works. You can't edit Jpeg as well as RAW, but a little is always possible.

What settings did u use for the editing on the Bentley pics
I used fully automatic mode. With flash. Then simply pulled the highlights down a bit in Lightroom. And finally added a little more black value.

@@Afnan423 Yes, I think the combination of an old camera and new possibilities for image processing is a good way to go. Basically, the images from old digital cameras, out of the camera, look almost the same. I have tested so many and have only seen minimal differences.
@@pixelkiez really? I have the same camera for 7 dollars at my local area for sale, should I grab one? I really love nostalgic photos, and if the camera produces similar results and I don't need to go thourgh the process of editing, I think it is worth it.
Editing requires some time which at first seems okay but really becomes a barrier after some time and I tend to keep the photos as it came out.
@@Afnan423 7 dollars is a really good price at the moment. At least here in Germany they are now selling for 70-80 dollars. If you like the nostalgic look, you will also like the out of camera pictures. You can't go wrong.

Hey, nein. Die Kamera kann nur jpeg. Ein bisschen Bearbeitung geht, aber halt nicht so krass wie mit raw.

@@M.okudan Hey, I have on 16.03. released a video where I show how to create my most used preset. You can easily replicate this. The video is called "How i edit my Canon G7X Mark II Photos (and other cameras) in Lightroom" I use this preset for 90 percent of all my pictures.
