Brian's lead sound has always "cut through" without sounding obnoxious. Just watching him his mechanics/technique look flawless. Center core airflow. The cat has it together....
That's a Conn Constellation small bore! Gosh I should have never traded mine for a Bach Strad in 1972! Brian certainly smokes lead trumpet! This is a great band!!! 🎺🎵🎶👍
I was very pleasantly surprised to see Brian MacDonald performing flawlessly as always, and likely one of the best lead players I've ever ever heard. Plus, I was glad not to see Allen Vizzutti performing. I know it sounds negative but Brian it's such a pleasure to listen to. Again, he might be one of the best lead-players around today.
So Many great high note players used Constellations, Maynard did for years, Cat Anderson, Al Stanwyck, and many others. I think Maynard sounded best when using his Constellations, but he was also in his prime at that time.
Hi Brian! Cutting edge buddy! I was checking out your fingering on some notes, coming down you played the D 1&3 and then 1 and dble C's 1&3. you are all playing Constellations! Sounds amazing Brian, Congrats! Mike Balogh
I agree that they should have gave Brian some credit. I think Allen Vizzutti was in the title to denote that this came from the same session as his recordings, so it was more about organization than anything else.
It was a tune originally recorded by Maynard Ferguson. The Vizzutti listing is an error, but this band does have several videos that were recorded in this same venue, with Vizzutti as a guest artist.

I love the part where Allen vizzutti was playing!
This is my memory of EVERY jazz gig. 20 people in the audience. lol

Give me a hundred different trumpets and I'll always know which one the Constellation is immediately !

You are correct. He does have his own signature trumpet now also.
Great lead and section!:)
@4:05 Anyone else noticed that the trumpets mimicked the echo effect from the album? Not easy to do.
Dang right it’s not easy - and how cool it was!

🎺..Wonderful
So clean trumpets, that’s the way 💪🏻
Any note above top G - 1st & 3rd...
He was playing his As on 1st and 2nd I thought, but regardless; what extraordinary consistency and intonation :O
@@trumpetbrain7302 indeed.
What is the reasoning behind doing that might I ask?
@Blue Python Productions better tuning, timbre or intonation.
It's an individual thing and depends on the player and their equipment.
Do you mean double G??
Didn't see Allen in the band unless he was videoing.. give Brian McDonald that credit!

Brian is top lead player... this is the soud you want to have
Where's the audience at these gigs? Great tenor sound/solo.
Thanks!
Outstanding ensemble sound and uh yea . . .doesn't hurt ONE BIT to have Brian V in there.
Mein Kompliment!
rockin' that Conn constellation!
Fantastic
Nice little gem. Happy it came up in my feed. Great sound, tight band.
Why is Maynard and Vizzutti listed for this? They aren't on the recording.

What's with the Conn Connstellations?
Sick saxaphone solo!!!
I expected to see Allen.
❤😊
I never heard a constellation sound so sweet, but he could probably get a good sound from a hose and a funnel!
Wow’
Приятно слушать оркестр
0:04 What is that guy doin'? lol
I would really like to know where this was recorded. After watching Brian MacDonald play, I have another trumpet player to idolize.
What are the names of the Conn38B Conn36B Connstellation Players? Awesome....!
Brian MacDonald 1, Joshua Kauffman 2, Eric Trevino 4
Stark!👍😊
Brian = King Lead Trumpet!
Click bait...and pleasantly surprised for a change. Brian's got legit chops.
where's allen vizzutti??
Bro, how did this guys got the conn s
What song were they playing?
Whats the Name of this Song
Anybody know what brand of mouthpiece he’s using? I know he’s usually on a shew 1 but this definitely looks different
I remember him saying he used a Shew 1 with a 5 sleeve. It looks similar to a Greg Black blank.
Are they playing in a Chipotle? WTF kind of venue is that?
N.3 CONN CONSTELLATION TRUMPET BIG PERFORMANCE+++++++++++++++++
WOW.......Wayne Bergeron take a step back,,,,,,this lead trumpet is OFF THE CHARTS ! Fantastic band
Hahahahah. This guy rocks, but Wayne could also step in and preform just as well.
Lead trumpet = Brian McDonald. Period. End of story.
I used to scream on my Connstelation.
