I'm really intrigued by this band. How come I haven't heard of them before? Out of all the big bands I've listened to recently, this ensemble have the best performance, guest selection, and song choice. Their quality is so good, it could even warrant a live album. It's a shame that I can't see them live in person. I hope the RUclips algorithm can recommend some of their videos.
Hello. We are a local/Dallas big band that flew artists in to live record. Initially, tracks were going to be part of a live album to sell. Instead, I thought it would be fun just to post that audio with video from each of the 25 live sessions for all to enjoy. I learn something from each video we posted. Hopefully, others will, too. Enjoy!
@@RAJEJAZZ Thank you for sharing these recordings with me. Even if a full live album were to be released, I would have still wanted to purchase it. The performances of this band are truly outstanding and will remembered as one of the best in big band history, thanks to the excellent guest appearance and song selection. They really couldn't have been any better.
Love it. I was wondering if this thought is reality... Louis: "I found a tiny place we can squeeze our 20-person band for a gig. We are going to have to set up around the ATM machine and poker machines but there should be room. I'll probably have to play behind the hostess station. Each of you will have to bring $5000 worth of music gear in their $500 car for this gig that pays $50. Who's in????" Entire band: All hands raise shouting hell ya!
This is not his band, this is the rebel alliance out of Dallas. They can absolutely cook! They used to meet at buzzbrews in deep ellum every Sunday night. Don’t know where they play now or if they do. When they aren’t hosting epic guests, here’s a hint: the shorter blonde trumpet player on the far right is the reason there is very little paint left on the interior of buzzbrews. Dude can make bats fighting in a microwave sound like low notes. Also the taller trumpet player 2nd from left is Donnie and he runs the band and can destroy lead on just about any chart you put in front of him. I think he enjoys getting other lead players to sit in when he brings guests because he is also trying to run the rehearsal/recording/concert plus he’s in charge of all of the live emergency mouthpiece customizing or modding. Works for me because we get to see lead players from around the country we wouldn’t normally see or have exposure to. It’s like he knows what he’s doing, maybe, probably not, but definitely. 😂
you can watch the best music here for free in good audio quality and you are here complaining about the video quality. So go there and film it better for us.
And now... Herbert L. Clarke's The Maid of the Mist played by Louis Dowdeswell on cornet. Live. Not. But, I dare you - followed by many other Clarke solos, yes??? Let's hear it. I think you can do it, Louis.

@@RAJEJAZZ agree the band sound super tight. How do you get funding to fly all these incredible players in?
@@awreckingball by working a lot of hours.
Dallas is near Denton which is the home of UNT which is the hottest big band program on the planet. Creates for a pool of unreal players.
Louis has never sounded better! Hope I can hear him and the band live some day...
I’ve known this arrangement for years and I’m still in awe
Sure be nice to have the band members listed, they truly deserve the credit.
That's a good idea. On FB, members are tagged, but I can start listing musicians here.
This ensemble is really top notch.
Wow - everything Louis plays is so effortless !
Best Musicants💥💥💥
Louis -Super Bomb🎺💥⚡🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Incredible...
Incredible tune written for trumpet 🐬
wow, that drummer is phenomenal!
Man these are all killin!! Damn!
Damn Louis!!! Mad control bro, and effortless. You’re a master for sure.
How in the WORLD does he hit those screaming high notes so effortlessly????
First tim I have seen him and the band. Not the last.
That had some Smoke on it. Whew, nicely done!
Spettacolare come Louis suona queste note sovracute senza sforzo veramente un campione.
Impressionnant... et tout en détente. Bravo!!
와우 최고예요 goooooood!
Awesome. Very good arrangement as well.
Louis was on fire that night

D7 on fire baby! Always love listening to Louis and his band. Good work chaps!

Usually I think of other things when some talks about Double D, but this is just as exciting, honestly. 🌡🔥
Great performance from the whole band! Everything Louis plays seems so effortless. He must've spent quite some hours building his chops.
Ain't no music like live music.
I like Louis's conducting. It's very, "it gets the job done and I don't give a f$#@".
Ááááááá Brutál!!!❤❤❤
Loving this guy's thank you
casually drinks his beer. what a bad ass...
The alto solo is very tasty
Bruce for the win 🐬
Great flugel cadenza 🐬
To bad that the whole session has been recorded with a calculator from the 80s instead of using a modern mobile phone. 🤦♂
I mean at least the audio quality is top notch🤷♂️ totally agree about the video quality though lol
you can watch the best music here for free in good audio quality and you are here complaining about the video quality. So go there and film it better for us.
If you have seen how well it went for the guy recording on a mobile phone. This is a huge improvement
Oh I don’t mind the video quality, what matters is listening to the music (as a jazz drummer/singer)
When does Rebel Alliance Jazz Ensemble plan to bring in its next guest high-range trumpet soloist? This recording was from 2019.
You’re gonna split the trumpet open!😱
This dude can play!
Who is writing the charts? Callus Au? Are they available?
Band sounds great and Louis effortless as always. Beautiful work!!
On his website I believe yes, all charts are available
And now... Herbert L. Clarke's The Maid of the Mist played by Louis Dowdeswell on cornet. Live. Not.
But, I dare you - followed by many other Clarke solos, yes??? Let's hear it.
I think you can do it, Louis.
Fantastic band and leader on trumpet. The guy taking pictures with his cell phone has ruined the video though.
not rlly
I feel like it got a bit warmer in there. Some adjusting out might have fixed some sharpness but 💯
Yo creo que actualmente junto a bergeron es el mejor lead del mundo.
Who is the alto sax player? omg
Bruce Bohnstengel. He's awesome!
I will pay for a live album, please take my money 😂
трубач божественный музыкант!
Who is the tenor sax player
It's me. Alan Burton. 😎
Trumpet model and mouthpiece please.??🤔😮😂
Who was playing lead? Not Louis, the other guy
I would believe Brian MacDonald. He was playing lead in some of Allen Vizzutti's recordings in this studio, such as Fire Dance.
Someone ought to open a coffee shop/recording studio...I'd post a sign, "No flash photography."
Every big band has one; a weird guy wearing a hat indoors.
wtf even was that note at the end on the trumpet omg
Double D
double D
I'm but sorry that performance did not yield anywhere near enough applause. Well done.
Ed Sheeran on Keys
His high notes look like he’s cheating lol
