The “Ethnic-Cleansing” Mainstream Media REFUSES To Talk About

- Even today, Josef Stalin is making people miserable. One hundred years ago, he was the "People's Commissar for Nationalities" in the Soviet Union - just one of the many positions he held on his way to the top of the Soviet hierarchy. Stalin did not have an easy job because the new "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics" was a group of smaller ethnic, cultural, and religious groups. Often, these groups were bitter historical enemies. Two were the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic and the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic. Despite what most people think, Stalin would listen to the opinion of others, especially in the early years of the USSR, and he listened to leaders from both Armenia and Azerbaijan - then he made his decision - and that was that - even that early in his career, no one was going to gainsay Stalin, at least not anyone from regions that could fit inside Russia 1000's of times over.
Azerbaijan and Armenia sit side by side towards the southern end of the Caucasus. The Armenians are among the oldest Christian groups in the world. Christianity had been spreading in Armenia since the 1st century AD, and in 301 AD, King Tiridates III declared Christianity the official state religion - the very first Christian kingdom on Earth.
The Azerbaijanis are Muslim. From 700 through the early 1300s, Islam gradually became the dominant religion in Azerbaijan.
Within what became the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic is the enclave of Nagorno-Karabakh, which measures about fifty miles from north to south and 30 from east to west. Before 2020, when the Armenians found themselves on the losing end of yet another war against the Azerbaijanis, between 85-90% of the people in the region were Armenians. The rest of the population were mainly Azeris living in the territory's north and east. About 1-3% of the population were Russians, Kurds, and ethnic Greeks.

@@LittkeTMArmenia had nowhere to turn to. If Armenia was elevated to UN status, then it would have more political clout. But given that the huge Russian moloth lies between Europe and Armenia and is waging war on it's European neighbour, how realistic do you think that would be? The best solutions would be to get rid of Turkey from the EU as there is nothing European about Turkey, certainly not their religion and cultural views, and for the Armenians to keep their unfortunate alliance to Russia, until Russia becomes a fully functioning European democracy, and that's not likely ever to happen. Bans should be placed on Israeli arms traffic to Azerbaijan as most likely those traded arms are from the US, biggest supporter of Israel. You make it seem like a religious conflict, but it’s not. Azerbaijan, despite being nominally majority-Muslim, is a secular state and most Azeris aren’t very religious. Additionally, Azerbaijan is supported by Israel and to a lesser extent, Georgia, which is Christian, while Armenia is supported by Islamic Iran. Russia is also not a very good ally of Armenia. They’ve maintained good relations with Azerbaijan since independence and their relationship with Armenia has worsened recently due to Armenia moving towards the West.
Nagorno-Karabakh wasn’t given to Azerbaijan by Stalin. He just decided to keep it as part of Azerbaijan. It had been under Azeri/Turkic rule for centuries before (although Armenians have lived there for thousands of years). It’s currently recognized by the whole world, even Armenia, as part of Azerbaijan.
While there was ethnic cleaning during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War, this more recent military action in September can’t really be called that. The Armenians, as you mentioned, left on their own. They probably were in fear of ethnic cleansing, but Azerbaijan did not actually force them out or encourage them to leave.

Interesting but you haven't researched why now mojority of the population are armenians. Before 90s it was nearly equal. But then during USSR there were 2 airoports who had access outside of USSR one was in Moscow and the other was in modern day Armenian territories. And around the 80s Azerbaijani people were forced to leave not just Karabakh, but also there were lots of Azerbaijanies living in Yerevan they were also forced to move to Ganja barefoot without any help from USSR government. The reason being told to Azeris were: "Armenians living in Europe and USA are tired living in capitalist west and want to have "better" lives here in Socialist USSR. And houses of Azerbaijanis living in Yerevan were given to the new commers. If Armenians want to talk about how they were forced to leave modern day Azerbaijani territories, It would be great to see them talk about How they forced Azerbaijanis out of modern day Armenian territories.
To summarize to me these 30 years of war is just made up by Russia and The West, because it gives them power and reason to enter these 2 countries and control the region. before 80s there were armenians living in Azerbaijan and azerbaijanis livin in Armenia like neighbours. So sad to see these meaningless wars just for the money and power of the rich. At the end poor young men from both countries are dying in all of this.

Azerbaijan and Turkey keep growing and expanding their influence we are heading to the age of Western Oghuz Turks, bring it on !
And what will this age bring? Innovation? Better technology? Less corruption? Peace and stability? A freer society? If not, nobody cares.
Nothing says peaceful religion more than any Muslim country
YES, the peaceful religion of bombs
Bro your sooooo smart ( stupid )
I would usually agree, but Azerbaijan’s a pretty heavily secular country. The conflict between them and Armenia is purely ethnic. Azerbaijan is actually supported by Israel and to a lesser extent, Georgia (which is Christian), while Armenia is supported by Islamic Iran.
Armenia is legit supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran🤦♂️ this is what happens, when you know nothing of the specifics and just ought to over-generalise thing. I agree with the first reply, that you are actually stupid.
just a reminder Azerbaijan is a close ally of israel
i am iranian and we have approximately 12-15 % caucasian DNA.
In primary school maths, we had something called Greatest Common Factor.
WHAT is the gcf in all these problems in the world?
I in no way disagree with the long history of Armenian people living in Nagorno Karabakh or their right to be there. My problem is that they basically just ran away and put up no real fight for the land they are apparently so strongly connected to, so rather than being a genocide or cleansing of any kind it would seem to me they were chased out simples !!
Bro what were Armenians supposed to do? Population of less than 3 mill with a small GDP backed by mostly itself compared to an oil-rich 10 mill population that's essentially a military dictatorship that is backed by Israel and Turkey. For the record, many did fight and they died. That's like saying "why didn't the Natives fight the British?"
@@arnezargarian4583 I won't pretend to be or know better but I am Irish and after almost a millennia we are almost finished throwing Britain back out, but they never made us run away en masse !!
@@EamonCoyle Yes, the Irish like us were persecuted, and like us they fought back and eventually won. However, Ireland is an island with access to water, meaning historically you're not spending much on defense and a much bigger population than Armenia meaning more people to fight. Armenia is not only landlocked geographically, but politically. Almost all its neighbors are against Armenia and Armenia is basically on its own. If the US backed Armenia the same way it backed Israel, Armenia would have no problem securing the region. Sadly, the message the world has sent Armenia is "sucks to be you" and we Armenians are aware of it and have lost trust in the international community.
@@arnezargarian4583 I really have no desire to argue who had it tougher historically and who fought back better although I certainly started it lol....I fully support the right of those Armenian's who were in Nagorno Karabakh to continue to live and grow in their historic lands but the world agreed it was part of Azerbaijan and you need to respect and adapt to it as well. My opinion is that had the ethnic Armenian's stayed, fought and ultimately suffered retribution it would have shown their commitment to their lands.
@@EamonCoyle they did tho and it didn't work, they held a referendum and 98 percent wanted independance but the world doesn't care because Azerbaijan is rich and has oil which the world wants so they continue to please them as much as possible
Your channel is WAY TOO UNDERRATED!!!
This is an example of FAFA. Armenia displaced tens of thousands of ethnic Azeris in the 90s from N-K. The ethnic Armenians from that region have been agitating a complete take-over for decades. The Azeris ended the recent agitation in 2023 and re-took some areas and grabbed some others.
Ethnic cleansing? That region STILL has ethnic Armenians. If the ethnic Armenians had won, we would NOT see ethnic Azeris there.
Glad India stand with Armenia, I always see india not follow trends, back in the the day help Bangladesh, thank you India from fellow Sri lankan
every comment is going to be : Armenia is better than Azerbaijan but i think the point is more that neither are better. this conflict is a result of cynical goverments that is costing the lives of people living there armenians, azeris etc. the point is though that in the end they are all just people, nationality is a label that oppressors use to manipulate people.
Nobody ever talked about the khojaly genocide. So now why are people attacking azeri people online for something the soviets have done by drawing those god awful borders?
How tf is it a genocide? Barely a dozen people died, it's literally nothing more than maybe a massacre.

A coupleof years ago, I watched the documentary called 'The Endless Corridor' in which it was The Armenias, aided by the Russians who commited to massacres.
why is nobody talking about how armenia toke those lands... they wipe erverything and dishonored and disrepected holy places. So do not cry if brave Azeris toke back what is in their right and intresty.
You fraud, Armenians took what belonged to them, no one talks about it, since becuz it didnt happen and becuz ur country has no history
Armenia was ancient when Azeris didn't even exist.
They didnt take anything back what is theirs, the population is Aremnian and the history+buildings/lonuments are Armenian. Cope Azergaycani bot.
I do not think that he ordered anyone to leave, but the Armenians did not want to live under Azerbaijani rule, so they left quietly. You say that he ordered them to leave, and this falls under hatred and betting on the lack of knowledge of the details of the events for those who listen to you.
In a sense of way he did actually ordered them to leave.
Imagine being blocked for nine months with no normal or almost zero lack of provisions. Afterwards your house gets bombed. They make a trophy park where your people are displayed as a mockery with clothes from real dead soldiers.
State media is controlled by a Dictator (Aliyev) wich sprouts everyday ethnic hate about Armenians. Also since the 2000s schoolbooks changed in Azerbaijan under proganda policy against Armenians where they describe them as Bandits, wild Savage tribe, Animals. They teach hate to their young children already in school against Armenians.
Not to mention Azerbaijanis getting rewarded a medal by the President when dicapitating Armenians in their sleep like Ramil Safarov. Or they try to erase your history by descrating your old centuries churches, monasteries, cemeteries and so forth.
There is almost no human rights for Azerbaijani themselves in Azerbaijan. With one of the lowest freedom press index on the charts. A state controlled by Dictator ruled for 30 years by him and his father.
Would you live under azerbaijani rule or flee?
"Genocide and Forced Deportation: Nagorno-Karabakh" is a very interesting read on the subject.
@@michaelmelkonjan8889 They were only prevented from going to Armenia to get supplies. The Azerbaijani government allowed them to go through Aghdam to get food from Azerbaijan, but Artsakh’s government didn’t let its people through that way.
@@capncake8837
They weren't even stopped from doing that, the Armenians simply refused to accept Azerbaijani checkpoints, because they were smuggling weapons in there. A good old blockade broke their defenses in just one year. And one day, all it took for them to surrender.
I believe there has to be compromise for peace and a lasting agreement.
The compromise so far has been that Armenia loses everything and then Azerbaijan comes back demanding even more.
@@user-sc7fk5ys6x Loses everything? Nagorno-Karabakh isn’t even part of Armenia. It was illegally occupied for thirty years, then Azerbaijan took it back.

The media do NOT refuse to discuss this or other eastern europe/asia issues. I heard and learned about the Armenian genocide long ago. US citizens, like most peoples of the world, we tend to care more for what lies near us, what are our daily challenges. While I agree that most US citizens don't seem to give a hoot about what they don't know, this is not a media driven issue - more of a cultural one.
Oh i didn't know, Ukraine, Russia, Israel, Palestine were near to your country!
armenian genocide is a different story tho
@karmapeople1735 Tbh the russia and ukraine one is mostly about using ukraine to whittle down and weaken russia while also containing russian projection of political power. While the israel and palestine one is mostly about how far USA goes to protect israel and gives them borderline anything they ask for, so people in the USA have a lot bigger chance to now about palestinian suffering compared to armenians. What does the USA have to do with the armenian genocide y’know what I mean?
Through fear, force, and (mostly) moolah; the republics of the Caucasus were very well off when compared to the Russian SSR, for instance.
Thank you
Any Islamist upset about what is happening in the Jorden river better fucking recognize.
Ironic. It is Islamic Iran that supports Armenia the most!
@@ivannaharmoni I think you’re missing the point. And by supporters, you mean not actively trying to drone. Roger that.
@@jukelohnson5095 Nah, they’ve publicly thrown their support behind Armenia and have historical connections.
A lot of Azerbaijanis are actually very pro-Israel, funnily enough. Meanwhile Iran supports Armenia. Despite what the video implies, it’s not really a a religious conflict, as Azeris aren’t very religious. It’s just an ethnic one.
