If that were true why weren't the civilians slaughtered during this conflict. The Azeris literally behaved in the exact opposite fashion to how the Armenians behaved when they conquered this region in the 1990s and ethnically cleansed 850,000 civilians, brutally so.

despite I'm neutral in this conflict, I have to say Arte is very biased. using "the FORCED repopulation policy" regarding the refuges returning back is more than funny. those people had been dreaming about this moment for decades.
Absolutely biased. Werstern media is always like this against any nonewestern country. They are now supporting the genocide against the Palestinians.
What are you rambling about? From 9:94 onward the refugees themselves express dissatisfaction and one of them ask: "why did you bring us here?", the govt. official just laughs at them. Does them wanting to return for decades mean that they are willing to return under less than satisfactory conditions, and not on their own terms? I think not.

I am sad seeing how people cannot live together, and this leading to people being dislocated from their homes and suffering hardships. The Azris fled many years ago, now the Armenians fled. A lot of suffering for both communities and inter-ethnic hate that will lead to further conflicts. The only solution to peace would be the promotion of understanding between the two communities.

I think this documentary is a little bit biased . I dont think its fair to say these people were forced to live there . I dont believe any Azerbaijani can be forced to live somewhere. Its not North Korea. These people are definitely hard core encouraged to move there but by no means they are forced.

You're must be a real genius. Those lands are internationally recognized by Azerbaijan and except the Karabagh, the Azerbaijani majority lived in all other 7 territories. They buy weapons from multiple countries, such as Russia, Turkey, Pakistan etc... NOT just Israel. And Israel support for Azerbaijan is because of common threat of Iran.
Territorial conquest? it is called the liberation and deoccupation by the international law, by the logic and a common sense.
Armenians have been a big majority in that area for over a thousand years (longer then the Turks). Maybe you should look up Turkish history (which is the same as Azeri since they are the same people). Then you will find out that the Turks came from the steppe of which is now South East Russia, and conquered their way to Anatolia. Armenians have lived in that area long before the Turks even thought of going West. About international recognized territories you're right, about fairness totally not.

If international law worked like that 90% of the planet would have to relocate. There was a point in time where everyone decided that these borders are the internationally recognized borders, any nation which is part of the UN signed on that dotted line so these ridiculous wars of "oh this land is mine because of 1000 years ago" and people slaughtering each other non stop would end.
The fact is you can't simply start invading another nation's internationally recognized territory, ethnically cleanse 850,000 civilians and then pretend to be the side of morality. It doesn't work like that.

Now they have been successfully ethnically cleansed out of the region by Azerbaijan, just like the Turks ethnicly cleansed Greeks and Armenians out of Anatolia.
Then tell me, if 98.8% voted for independance from the authoritarian regime of Azerbaijan would it then be called liberation? If 100 procent of the people don't want Azeri government there how could u call it liberation and reoccupation when the people actively ran away from aliyev, it's like a murder victim running away from a murderer, but the murderer catches him and murders him, but then he is called a hero for saving the victims life? When he is litterly dead on the ground. That's what's happening with the nagarno Karabakh situation rn, I'd suggest doing independant research and to not look at Armenian or Azeri (biased) (made) stories but rather at independant studies from for example Americans or British or Dutch or German. A lot of them will teach u about the real history

I am Pakistani and I know how it feels to lose of life especially your beloved one. I am also currently living in Azerbaijan which is prospering very rapidly and at a fast pace. I somewhere encourage Azerbaijani and Armenians to have reconciliation, I know it would be super difficult but it would be important for both to reconcile as there's a quote "Revenge only brings revenge." Hence, forgiveness and respect for both countries should go on and wish Azerbaijan more prosperity
Azerbaijan has Guranteed protection and equality under the law to the Armenian population of Azerbaijan. They rejected it and left for Armenia. No ethnic cleansing or Genocide. Civilians were not harmed. President Aliev is a mature and balanced humanitarian leader in the region. I hope my Iranian family in Tehran will not fuel tensions in this volatile area of the world.
I definitely support Azerbaijan on this conflict BUT why would any Armenian trust the promise of protection and equality claims of Azerbaijan? Same would apply if the sides switched. They have done both to each other in this conflict (even though ultimately azeri side was right) to never trust a member of their nations ever again. Both nations are fully capable of doing the lip service and continue oppressing the other because the level of animosity between the nations is very high.
Also, Azerbaijan for sure would populate the land with Azeris to diminish any future war and revolt and those people could also very well harass Armenians. If this was the start of the conflict, peaceful coexistence could have worked but honestly it is all too late for that, so I understand why they feel compelled to leave.

This is absurd! Armenia (regardless of religion) occupied 20% of the neighboring country, kicked out 700k native population and held it illegally for 30 years! After 30 years of patience and fruitless diplomatic efforts Azerbaijan freed its internationally recognized territories. What else is there to discuss?

Can u provide ur source of their "diplomatic efforts" that don't include full Azeri integration or taking land? Because that wouldn't be diplomatic efforts that would just be conquest of lands that the natives don't want taken from them. Nobody in Karabakh wanted to be part of Azerbaijan and u can see from the 2 referendums held in karabakh

@@manotenkerian When Cyprus declared its independence from Britain, Britain, Turkiye and Greece were granted guarantorship of the Island. These three were given the responsibility to maintain the equality between two societies. Cyprus was founded as a binational state where president was Greek and the prime minister was Turkish. The state mechanism was equally shared by two ethnicities. However, with a coup d'etat, Greeks tried enosis (annexation) with Greece. Without consent of Turks, they tried capture the state, cast out all Turks in the state mechanism and made it into a Hellenic state. Greeks tried to downgrade Turks from equal owners of the state to a minority. That was illegal.
Since then Greeks never accepted a shared state, they proposed a minority status for Turks. Turks will not accept minority status, they will not let Cyprus to be turned into a Greek state and live under Greek authority. Turkish intervention and military presence in the island is to protect Turks of the island. Those who talk about Solution in Cyprus should stop supporting Greek side unilaterally, surrender rights of Turks as founders and equal owners of the state. Otherwise, nothing will be solved. Eventually isolated and unrecognized Turks will have to unite with Turkiye. Look, Turks wait for recognition for forty years. If Turks did not really look forward to solution and a real reunification of the island, they could unite with Turkiye long time ago. In any case Turkiye is seen as "occupant", in one way or another. Cyrpiot Turks would have get rid of isolation by uniting Turkiye. But they still wait.
Three options:
1-Recognize Turks as equal owners of the state, share power and go on as a binational federative state.
2-Recognize Turkish state internationally.That will strengthen Turkish hands in bargaining for powersharing and federation, if not possible, they will go on as an independent state.
3-After so many years of isolation and sanctions, Turks'only remedy will be annexed by Turkiye.
Reminder: As an Armenian you are no way entitled to form a view on Cyprus, especially after your nation invaded 20% of another country and while you have no idea about Cyprus issue. Do not poke your Armenian nose into things you do not know about. Just work for Armenia to develop and prosper. Armenia will not develop with anti-Turk stance and expansionism.

Azerbajian is a wealthy country. Why did they let refugees live in deplorable conditions for 30 years.
There were around 900000 refugee after war. Azerbaijan started selling oil and gas from 2000 approximately. You can't imagine how hard times it was.
The UN states that Nagorno-Karabakh Autonomous Oblast is a disputed region that has the right to self-determination, the surrounding regions are considered occupied. The UN states there is no military solution to this conflict and the OSCE Minsk Group Protocol Protocol will be used for negotiations and a resolution to this conflict.
Now don't try to start quoting outdated UN resolutions before the war ended, weren't binding, or had little votes supporting the resolutions.
If the surrounding regions were very important, then Azerbaijan could have recognized the independence of NKAO with a corridor to Armenia for them returned
The whole point of Azerbaijan is the erdication of Armenia. We can see it everyday by its unfriendly attitude against Armenia, eventhough they took the whole Karabakh region.
I was interested in watching this until the narrator said "propaganda or reality it's impossible to verify" pertaining to the Marijauna fields.
All the plants and fields are right there, verifying would be quite easy. Just walk over and look at them, smell them lol

I am glad that Azerbaijan regains it national territory of Ngorno-Karabakh. I was all on the side of Azerbaijan during its war to regain Nagorno Karabakh. Karabakh is an internationally recognized part of Azaerbaijan & should be reintegrated into Azerbaijan. However, I will immediately side wit Armenia if Azerbaijan launches a war to seize even an inch of territory that belong2 to Armenia proper. I will be on the side of Armenia if Azerbaijan tries to seize Syunik province from Armenia to create the Zangezour Corridor with Nakhichevan. I am Muslim, just like Azerbaijan, but I do not judge based on religion but on justice. ! will not accept injustice by non-Muslims on Muslims, and I will not accept injustice by Muslims on non-Muslims.
There is no big difference between Nazi Germany capturing Sudetenland and Armenia capturing Karabakh. German aggression was punished by land loss and contribution payments, but Armenian aggression remains unpunished. Azerbaijan has all rights to enforce Armenian commitment signed on November 9, 2020 to ensure unobstructed communication from Azerbaijan to Azerbaijan (Nakchivan) through Armenian territory.

see history of Artsakh (Karabakh). Artsakh was never part of Azerbaijan Nakhijevan. During the USSR they signed and gave it to Azerbaijan. Now there is no USSR, it has been destroyed and these signatures have also been destroyed! Azerbaijan History as a State 100 years! I do not accept this decision, supposedly Artsakh is part of Azerbaijan if it is part of Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan is part of Iran!!!!

I don't think so. If in 50 years armenians decide to reconquer lands internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan, they will need to officially attack from the territory of the republic of Armenia, which in this case will be international conflict. Till now it was defacto war was between Azerbaijan and Armenia, but on the paper it was an internal conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenian backed separatist of Nagorno Karabakh. Something similiar what was happening in Ukraine till 2022, defacto Ukraine was at war with Russia from 2014, but on the paper till 2022 it was an internal conflict, Ukraine fought against Russian backed separatists in Donetsk and Lugansk.
In 50 years the will be no Armenia.
as was commented that would now be an international conflict and would be valid grounds for Turkey to also active partake in this war. Armenians should focus on developing their country and economy to attract the Armenian diaspora to repatriate if they want to have any future in the region, instead of chasing after impossible dreams in the region and yelling war crime every single time it doesn't go the way they want in a conflict they themselves have started.

Before the Armenians, there were people who were killed by the Armenians in the same way as the Jews of the Canaanites. Armenia recouped this territory by expelling Azerbaijanis, hundreds of thousands, women and children walked through the snow in winter for a thousand kilometers and died. Now these children have returned and not to say that they have taken revenge for what they did.

I think it will be hard for Azerbaijan to convince Azeris to leave where they live now and go to the rural mountainous region of Nagorno-Karabakh. They will invest a lot of their petro-money there, but wait 20 years and we will see, that few people will really permanently go to live there. Why, because they prefer urban live along the coast of the Caspian Sea than living as goat herders somewhere far away in the mountains.
The whole Nagorno-Karabakh thing is more a national propaganda myth than a real social movement. The same is true for a lot of revisionist myths around the world. Just imagine that Germany would suddenly get back East Prussia. Do you think a lot of Germans would cherfully move there to make it a German populated region once again? I don't think so.

Don't compare Azerbaijanis with Armenia. It was Armenia that occupied Karabakh and after that 7 regions of Azerbaijan, and claimed that those 7 regions, which was equal to the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh itself, as buffer territory so called "Security belt" and then Armenia added these regions later to the so-called "NKR" along with ethnic cleansing of the 700 thousands of Azerbaijanis. Now Armenia expects that Azerbaijan will do the same. Azerbaijanis are not Armenians. Azerbaijanis don't barbarically loot territories, do not still personal belongings of Armenians, instead Azerbaijanis offered Armenia peace, economic cooperation, and rebuild Karabakh. Armenians proved that they are failed state. They only capable to steel houses of the Azerbaijanis.

The same happened with Nakhchivan, which also has always been Armenian historically, but was gifted to Azerbaijan during USSR
