The Chechen War's Unforgivable Crimes

- It’s a familiar story: a former area of the Soviet Union tries to pursue independence from Moscow, and soon Russian tanks are rolling across its borders and killing civilians by the thousands. No, not Ukraine, nor Georgia, but Chechnya, a tiny nation in the Caucasus whose long struggle with Russia was filled with war crimes and atrocities.
The Chechen Crisis
The Chechens themselves are mostly Muslim with a distinct culture that made them a target for persecution throughout history. Stalin had deported and killed hundreds of thousands of them, so when the time came to throw off the Communists, Chechnya was eager for it. They declared independence in 1991 under the leadership of Dzhokhar Dudayev, just as the Soviet Union was unravelling everywhere, but the new post-Communist government did not recognise their claim. Still, Moscow was too distracted with establishing the new Russia to bother with little Chechnya. That was until 1994.
Tired of Chechnya’s insubordination, President Boris Yeltsin funded and supported an anti-separatist Chechen militia to overthrow Dudayev’s separatist government. It failed spectacularly. The Chechynan separatists proved overwhelmingly loyal to Dudayev and his forces crushed the coup and captured Russian soldiers embedded in the groups.
Embarrassed, Yeltsin decided full military intervention was needed, and on November 30th signed Presidential Decree 2137 to, quote, “re-establish law and order in… the Chechen Republic.” The conflicts that followed consumed thousands of lives over the next 20 years.

BTW unlike Russia we don't invade and kill our neighbors.
Things are not as simple as they seem and don't forget Iraq Iran war and Iraq invasion of kuwait, wmd was xcuse to eliminate saddam
Bush said that yes, but that isn’t all he said, also wasn’t even the main goal of being Iraq, the main focus of the war in Iraq was to remove Saddam Hussein (It was literally called Operation Iraqi freedom, not Operation remove weapons of amss destruction💀) who was murdering Iraqi’s, which wasn’t the Nato’s business prior, but it became a world problem when Saddam started “Terrorist Extremist Attacks” in France, Afghanistan, the UK etc… which is why the US wasn’t the only nation in Iraq, Australia, Denmark, Poland, every Nation in the United Kingdom, The Netherlands etc.. was all in Iraq with the US.. It was a Worldwide Operation for a reason, bc it was affecting “the world”, or are you one of them people who thinks the US is the world 💀
Netanyahu floated that lie to the USA.
If there’s one thing I have to asks about Russian history it’s simply, why so much corruption? From the beginning to the fall of the Tsars, the similar rise of fall of the Soviet Union and post Soviet Russia it’s always been a constant.
Same with Mexico.... why?
Because both Russia and Mexico are founded on inherently Autocratic, State Centric, Elitist, and Exploitative foundations. I recommend watching Kraut’s videos on the Mexican-American Border and on the origins of Russian Authoritarianism to get to the thick of it as well as to see why the United States for all its flaws is a prosperous nation and at least fulfills part of the promise of a nation by the people for people.
Because they are built on big names and autocracy. On top of that the communist regime left alot of room for exploitation just in its function. And once its rooted in it is very difficult to remove
I don't know northwest Europe seems least corrupt though
As if corruption ain't a worldwide phenom lol, and that Brandie and son HaunteR are saints on this regard. ;P (Fun fact: Ukraine is the most corrupt country in Europe, making them pariah to the EU joining).

I wonder how the author knows an exact number of rifles requested by Russian military from the village but did not know that Chechnya was a part of Russia after USSR collapse.
Chechnya was part of the USSR, and after the collapse of the Union it chose to declare independence. It was a "part of Russia" as much as Georgia was ( for example) prior to 1991. It declared independence and that idea was quashed. People from the Caucasus don't have much in common with russians in the Russian homeland.
For all intents and purposes the two Chechen wars could've been completely avoided and the same state of affairs we have today between Chechnya and Russia would have been reached.

It was not a former area of the USSR, but an Autonomous Republic within the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (today's Russian Federation), the largest Republic within the USSR. Already at the start of the video, a mistake is made intentionally or by accident, but this gives the right to the Autonomous Republic to secede, and according to the Constitution of the USSR, not even the Soviet Republics could do that at first, but only with some constitutional changes were they before the dissolution of the USSR itself, the above-mentioned constitutional changes were made, so that the peaceful dissolution of the USSR could even happen. They had been given autonomy. But they pushed forward radical islam.
@@Stuntmandouble08 No, they didn't. Only a ruzzian can believe such a thing.
America citizens are well armed, but I don’t think their organized and battle hardened to fight like Chechens, or Russians; maybe the down trodden and poor Americans would stand and fight because they have nothing to lose!
Yes
It's a shame having to put up with the American way of dropping the definate article, 'the' when I hear dates being given.
Already we have the inversion, & now either: December 25 (the absolute worst), December 25th, but no not never not often enough anyway, December THE 25th.
The 25th of December. Le vingt-cinq-décembre. The article matters and British youtubers should use it, or become, 'just another American'?
You sound like you hate Russia 😂😂😂
He wants Chechens to fight against Russia again 😂
As one should. Russia is and always was a bully
Any sane person does.
humans in general that live near russia do this

"Independence" fueled by a Wahhabi sect imported from Saudi Arabia. Same game that was later played on Syria. Same game that was previously played on Afghanistan.
2 days ago i see Chechen King meet Putin and he is Putin pupet 😂😂 now he is in Ukraine war

Chechen king is too powerful now, Putin Fears him but at the same time needs him to keep his back safe from other rivals in the Kremlin
Putin still funds him with lots of money & Arms & as long as that continues there won't a problem
Chechen king?
@@NOKHCHlBORZ more like dictator and war dog

What about the Americans in Vietnam
Fun fact: Russia may be refused to pay "reparations", but they paid pensions to retired Chechen in Chechnya. Despite the fact that these money often falls into the hands of warlords.
Btw democratic not authoritarian Ukraine refuse to pay pensions to retired people of Donbass sinse 2014. Because democracy.
Every story @ least has 3 versions (this is one version) in a divorce issue for example, there is a version of the wife, the husband & the truth...
That's not a divorce. It's a slave who tried to flee from it's master. So the master beat his slave into submission.
@@funki4896 yes, it wasnt about a divorce. Did u read vry well my statements?
