    Summary
    1. Stay present
    a. While listening to other people, don't try to translate every word.
    b. Don't try to make a response.
    c. Perfection is the enemy of fluency.
    2. Make English a necessity
    a. Make English speaking friends
    b. Make a commitment to yourself to practice. Whatever your daily life demand might be, try to find a chance to listen. For example, listen on youtube on how to repair a laptop, a recipe...
    3. Movies, TV shows, audio books... that you are interested in.
    4. Listen in many accents.
That's all. Thanks Teela with Deep English!

    Four tips:
    #1 Stay present
    - don't translate every word the other person says in your head.
    - don't try to make your response to what they're saying while they are still speaking.
    - perfection is the enemy of fluency.
#2 Make learning English a necessity
    - make a friend who only speaks English.
    - try to use English to solve daily problems.
    #3 Movies, TV Shows, Audio
    #4 Listen to many accents

I've to confess that i understood a speech literally first time. I am a Turk and i was good at speaking or writing and reading but wasn't at listening and i just improved my listening skills thanks to you. And exactly the first tip is more helper to enhance my listenin' skills. Thank you so much for this video and your sincerity. I will watch your all videos as possible as i can. I hope that could write correct. You are a perfect teacher 🖤

All tips are really helpful. But one tip that I want to follow immediately is 'Stay present'. Sometimes I concentrate on a word which I don't know the meaning or I can't understand. It makes me not to understand the whole meaning of the sentence and context. And it also stresses me out and then I get tired. From now on, I will not foucus on a word and be obsessed with perfection. Thank you teacher Teela. Your lessons are really really helpful to me.

Thank you very much, dear Teela! Your advice has slightly reduced my confusion. I have been studying English for many years. I understand everything you say (or 90-95 percent), but I need English subtitles for confidence, otherwise I feel like a person without support. At the second listening, I set the speed to 0.75, so that I could also mirror repeat after you. The fact is that I read: working on pronunciation improves listening comprehension. I am a Russian speaker, and the problem of most Russian speakers is that they hardly speak English. Stupor in speaking. I don't know why, but it is. I have reached the Intermediate level in learning English, and I am stuck on it. I started learning German from stress, and I really like it. Only now I was able to return to English. Thank you again.

Hi! I'm an English native speaker. If it's ok, I'd like to give you a tip on your English. You wrote, "do not translating" in your comment. Instead we would say, "do not translate" because "translating" would mean you are currently translating, which you are not. You just wish to avoid translating in your head in the future. So you would tell yourself, "do not (or don't) translate every word in my head"
      Hope this helps!

just because they speak faster on TV or movie than they do on youtube.

      @Olesia_Kurilo 6 лет назад +2

In the TV shows or in the movies, they talk faster, they use slang maybe. RUclipsrs try to speak out every word well. So for good listening comprehension you should listen challenging audios, not that you understand 100%, and listen it several times!

If you want to fluently communicate with different native English speakers, including British, Australian, or American, you should first learn how to pronounce English correctly.
There is only one way to help Vietnamese pronounce English correctly. You MUST use an English-English dictionary with SEPARATED SYLLABLES such as Longman dictionary. I suggest that you should not use Oxford ones.
