@larrow no, an Anglophone by definition is someone who usese an Anglosaxon derived language, Anglo= Anglosaxon and Phone= phonos which means sound. The definition you're giving is an English native speaker

Hi teacher! Nice to meet you! I'm Brazilian, I'm 63'. I studied a little bit of English when I was younger, after I studied a little bit more at 90', without results! But, at the pandemic times, I dove on Netflix and Brazilian English teachers on RUclips for two and half years, and now I already can write this text without translator help! I'm trying to improve my listening and you are been of big help! Thanks!
Man, I thought that I would have to turn on the subtitles, but you spoke SO CLEARLY that I really understand everything! As for this lesson, I'll be honest with you, from this 25 mins I learned more then on 3 lessons in school! Thank you so much, I'll follow you^^

To anyone learning English I give you my deepest respect. The only reason I understand is because I grew up with it. It is a very difficult language to learn.
I studied abroad for more than 5 years and I had no problem following lecturers or presentation. Even your quick speech I still can follow. However, speaking in US series is what I still can follow at most 90%. When my American friends speaking to each other in the diner table, I almost understand nothing.
I always have troubles with understanting Americans in games because they talk fast like goddamm machine gun. I translate one sentence and they have five more already told...
@@funtecstudiovideos4102 I’m a native English speaker, and don’t worry, I share the same issue. Generally speaking, many English speakers online have bad habits when it comes to pronunciation and whatnot. Just know, that most of the time when you can’t understand them, it’s usually because they’re angry at something. (:
Americans also have an absurd amount of slang and words with multiple meanings. An American trying to say "I'm going to go make some money, im serious" might very well say "finna get this bread, no cap"
I gave my test today and i was asked the following questions: Part 1 1. Do you work or study? 2. What subjects you are studying? 3. Why you choose these subjects? 4. Do you think you'll achieve what you are aiming for? 5. Will the subjects you have chosen assist you in achieving your goal? Part 2 Describe a film you have watched. Where and when did you watch it? What did you like the most in it? What were the characters and how did they inspire you? Part 3 1. What type of movie genres are famous in your country? 2. Why do you historical movies are famous? 3. Why hit movies always have famous actors? 4. Then why some movies with least famous actors hit the box office and make more money? 5. Why are effects used in creating movies? What role does film based on real life person plays in our lives?

I'm not fond of youtube-course of languages most time and also don't interested in ENG but this video is really helpful I always tell my friends they will never learn to hear and understand English speech in "audio lessons" where all the text for you clearly speaks the narrator But your video I can recommend to all friends who are learning English 'cause it really will help them Your speech is clear and friendly to beginners but not perfectly clean The speech we will hear from any carrier and native That’s what we all need Thky so much
All languages do the things he mentions. It’s always helpful to sit back and listen. So this video is particularly useful to those who do not have a native speaker to practice with.

Nicolas Albert.
Keith, when I meet English language learners, I’ll recommend your channel! I’m a native speaker (U.S.). If I could find a teacher like you, who uses similar methods to teach my favorite foreign languages, I would be thankful!

@@mikimiyazaki Native English speaker, just means someone who's mother tongue or first language is English. It doesn't matter where you're from (England/America/ etc.).
English speaker here, didn't fully understand what he said in the beginning I only picked up on 'have a good day' so dont feel bad for missing something in a conversation, you're doing great.
True. And the “shwee” at the beginning sounds odd. I think it’s because many people don’t follow the “use shall for first person rule,.” In fact, it can even sound rather formal. So when people do say it then tend to fully pronounce it-or at least sound like “shallwe” if they were to say this sentence. Finally, the “shwee” could just be how people might say it in his dialect.
Watching this video really made a difference ! I recommend it for everyone that is having a hard time listening to series or anything in English ! Thank you for your class
I found this video totally by chance and clicked only out of curiosity. I am pretty confident in my listening and speaking skills in english although it's not my native language. I am quite happy to see I wasn't being mistaken on my skills. Yet this video is very interesting and helpful even for me. I had a very hard time, for years, getting these things you talk about in your video. Still I don't think I have a british accent, although I really worked for years on getting it, but I guess I'm close enough. Apparently enough to have americans and canadians thinking that I actually am british. It's very hard to get the subtleties of a spoken language. I mainly had to learn through listening as many times as needed, uk tv shows(without subtitles 😂)... For real!! It helped a lot to get every little tips you give in this video, so today I can measure how useful is this video for non natives. I guess every language can be difficult for a non native to understand on first hearing... I do myself contract a lot of words and sentences in my own mother tongue. Sometimes so much that now I have to do an effort and be careful to clearly pronounce the words without contracting them too much, because even relatives happen not to get what I say... I guess this must be because of being used to adopt this contracting tendancy when I speak english and that I reproduce it when speaking french 😅 Anyway, I just would like to tell you that doing this type of video is really cool of you! It can really help people, I'm saying it only in case you didn't already know. I wish the best to everyone who wants to improve their english. And don't forget, that no matter how good you are; there is always a way to improve your linguistic skills a little more. That's why I looked at this vid, because I thought that maybe it could be helpful even to me, even if I have nothing do be ashamed of about my english level.
Sir, I thought you're the best English speakers I've ever seen. I don't even use translate from RUclips for it. Just listen and learn how you speak for the pronunciation for each section, and I totally understood what are you talking about. Thank you, Sir. Much love and respect.
To be honest sir ive been trying clear my versant test to get a job but, i failed many times to understand the proper word so after getting tired of being stressed ..... Brilliant lesson by a great teacher. I have been living and working in the UK since 2012. I got the CAE in 2019 and the CPE in 2020 and I find this lesson very useful. I mean, I still make mistakes when speaking, have an accent which is driving me mad because I can't get rid off it, and not the speaking level I should have due to an excessive focusing on grammar, listening, reading and writing rather than SPEAKING AND PRONUNCIATION. I would say that as soon as you get good enough at grammar, writing and listening, just a decent level , jumping into practicing Connected Speech with intent on a daily basis and trying to apply it in real-life conversational situations consciously is the real key to progress.

Hi I'm a spanish native speaker and I'll give you a little trick here, just start to watch movies with subtitles in your language and that's all. Could be helpful too use the google translation, there you have an option to hear the pronunciation. 🤜🤛
First things first : this is a concise straight forward, and simplified course that opens up the students ' appetite for more practice. Thumbs up for that ! With no intention to undermine such considerable efforts to teach and learn listening comprehension, it is advisable to remember that listening is like swimming. There is a difference between learning about swimming and swimming itself. The only way you can become a good swimmer is by going into the water. Very much like that is listening; the more you listen, the more you understand. The hints in the video , as useful as they certainly are, you can unconsciously pick them up on the way. It's good to have someone teach you how to do it, but actually if you don't do a lot of listening yourself the teaching can hardly help you achieve a native like listening comprehension level. Remember you learn to swim by swimming.
I am a native english speaker, so I have no idea why this was recommended to me, but it makes me happy that it seems like the video helped a lot of people.
I initially understood something like "Should we go, and have a good day?" but I had to play that twice to be sure. I usually have problems with understanding to movies, but I can understand videos like this almost without any problem. Good to hear someone who speaks understandably. :D

Hi Keith! Your advanced listening lesson on understanding native English speakers is really helpful! I appreciate the way you highlight the biggest mistake students make - they focus too much on individual words and not on the context and connected language. This matches my own experience of language learning. You explained how words change in context and how sounds shift when words are joined or dropped, which are essential aspects of fluent speech that learners often overlook. Your emphasis on word stress, weak forms, contractions and connected speech is spot on. Understanding these aspects has greatly improved my ability to understand spoken English. Moreover, your suggestion to practise both intensive and extensive listening is invaluable. It's important to analyse specific aspects of speech in short clips, while also exposing oneself to longer audio or video content for overall comprehension. Your lesson feels like a trip to the "" Fluency Gym"" where we strengthen our listening muscles! Thank you for sharing such useful tips and techniques to improve our listening skills.

I can honestly say in my 2 decades of being a native English speaker I have never heard anyone pronounce "shall we" as "shwe" mostly because people don't often use "shall" in every day language, it's more often used dramatically or ironically and as such is enunciated separately
He sounds British, “shall” is used heavily in British English, from what i’ve been exposed to. As is “shwe”. This is coming from a American though, and I understand our accents are pretty strange to others too lol
As a native English speaker in the U.S, I and most others I know use "shall" quite often. But I'm sure it's probably because of the area I live. When I traveled across the country a few years ago, it was pointed out to me that my speaking habits were odd. Mostly using phrases like "fixing to". I find it funny and fascinating how it seems like our language can subtlety change in just a few hundred miles, or even a few citys/towns over.
@@stevenreynolds8287 absolutely. I am from the Urban Southeast USA, so my speaking habits are substantially different than those of people just a few miles out of the city. I studied abroad for more than 5 years and I had no problem following lecturers or presentation. Even your quick speech I still can follow. However, speaking in US series is what I still can follow at most 90%. When my American friends speaking to each other in the diner table, I almost understand nothing.

Nicolas Albert.

English speaker here, didn't fully understand what he said in the beginning I only picked up on 'have a good day' so dont feel bad for missing something in a conversation, you're doing great.
I think it's because it's a sentence that no one would ever say n
True
I'm more used to hearing American people talking, so I couldn't make out what he was trying to say, too.
@@rorynolan2322 it's an English (by that I mean British) expression. Yeah that's not something we would say in America, typically.

I guess this must be because of being used to adopt this contracting tendancy when I speak english and that I reproduce it when speaking french 😅
Anyway, I just would like to tell you that doing this type of video is really cool of you!

Brilliant lesson by a great teacher. I have been living and working in the UK since 2012. I got the CAE in 2019 and the CPE in 2020 and I find this lesson very useful. I would say that as soon as you get good enough at grammar, writing and listening, just a decent level , jumping into practicing Connected Speech with intent on a daily basis and trying to apply it in real-life conversational situations consciously is the real key to progress.

Brazilian Portuguese native here '-'
First things first : this is a concise straight forward, and simplified course that opens up the students ' appetite for more practice.

I'm a native English speaker and I'm so glad there's resources out here for others, good luck with your learning everyone!!
Gracias!
Bedankt!
merci ! (thank you)
This lesson is fantastic for really getting into the rhythm of natural English! As a tutor, I always encourage my students to immerse themselves in native conversations like these to get comfortable with the flow and expressions. It’s amazing how much more confident you can feel with consistent practice! To anyone working on advanced listening skills, my advice is to focus on key phrases and tone-they’re often just as important as the vocabulary itself. Thank you for such a practical and engaging lesson! 👏"
Hello Ma'am, May i have a conversation with you in english?
I have recently started my youtube channel, where I post english conversational videos to help people
@@NavalAjmera98 Yes of course!
@TylaAnnGurney1024 Could you please let me know when you will be available for a conversation? Could you also schedule a time that is convenient for you? And, would it be possible for you to connect on Skype?
I'm a beginning ESL teacher and this video is just SO good. Seriously you covered all the bases to understanding the way native Anglophones actually speak, and you broke it down into very understandable chunks.
I can speak quite natively. But I hardly noticed I’ve been speaking it that way like dropping the sound etc when we have two words combined or so.
This is gonna be very helpful for beginners. Great tips there!
Quite natively, indeed!
Splendid! Somehow I had figure this out in halves. How refreshing it is hearing these great tips straight from the horse's mouth. Thank you so much.
I am very glad that now people who speak different languages can talk to each other, and for this it is not necessary to study a new language for years. Let's continue to make steps towards each other!
For me, learning English has always been a wonderful hobby, but due to the inability to communicate with native speakers and the lack of money for a good teacher, it was difficult for me to understand my level of language proficiency. Now with the advent of an online translator, I am happy to meet people who live in other countries, and this is great.
Probably the main idea that every person needs to realize and accept in this difficult time is that we are all people, politics, religion, financial prosperity, thousands of kilometers of water and land are trying to divide us, but at the same time, for me, sometimes an American who sincerely talks about his life in a blog is kinder than a living neighbor on the same street with me, and for 10 years he has never said "hello! How are you?"
With fervent greetings from Russia!
It’s absolutely crazy just how diverse the United States is alone, let alone combined with all the other English speaking areas of the world. Mind boggling.
Being non-english speaker I can say that this video are good for those people like me who are trying practicing their english skills. Sorry if there's some grammatical error I'm not good in English.
Your English is sir👌🏾
I can understand you just fine! There are a couple mistakes, but you are doing good! 😁
You know what sir, you tend to change my confidence level and boost my vocals aggregating all to change my way of thought about my English speaking skills. A heart full of thank you sir😊. You are beautiful!
