I can think in English, but I can´t speak fluently yet. When I was a beginner English student I didn't like to use a monolingual English to English dictionary I found it hard and frustraiting, but now I can say I prefer using a monolingual English dictionary, I find it more exiting, I think my brain has changed it is thinking in English much more than before.

You speak slowly enough to help beginner students follow, catch and understand what you are saying. What a friendly teacher! I want to share a little. After a long time, I have learned English I recognized that we only need to do one thing to become better. Repetion. In your free time, turning on any videos as long as you prefer on RUclips to watch, repeat, mimicking the speaker in video. You can read newspapers as well. But in my opinion, the BBC and CNN are quite difficult. I also don't pay much attention to it. Instead, I read English local news because this news provides closer and useful information to my life. Good luck!

This is my two cents for you. Learn the vocabulary and meaning of the words. Grammar of course. Because what matters is that u speak, read and write English correctly. The accent is something else. Someone told me once to read outloud when you're alone. Because u are gonna be listening to yourself get use to it and are going to loose the fear of speaking. You also will be working in your accent. Don't be afraid I live in the U.S. and for some reason I've sometimes got transfered calls to people in the Phillipines, Colombia etc. And what actually for me matters is not a perfect English speaker. I just want them to help w. whatever I need. Matter of fact I am still learning my English. And right now I am trying to help you. And I am practicing at the same time. Take care.

Great video Keith, they're all good advices, I've been speaking english with myself at home for many years, my husband and sons think I'm getting crazy, haha. I'd like to share a game I do to improve my "english moments" to fluency. All I need is 3 minutes and a serie of topics. I answer the questions in just a minute while I'm recording them with my phone. Next minute I listen and focus on improving areas, sometimes is grammar, pronuciation, etc... after that, the last minute I try to build a new answer, trying not to make the same mistakes. It works, it's fun, and perfect if you don't have time. I hope this idea can help anyone. Keith I also hope you get well soon.

I made a summary here. Hope it helps.
"7 Smart Ways to Think in English" by Keith from the Keith Speaking Academy provides practical tips to help individuals think in English and improve their fluency. Keith discusses the challenges of breaking the habit of translating and emphasizes the importance of surrounding oneself with English, using familiar words, starting small and building up, talking to oneself, writing in English, practicing with others, and using a monolingual dictionary.
    Highlights
🎧 Surround yourself with English through activities like listening to podcasts, reading, and watching TV series or films in English.
📚 Use only words you already know when speaking in English to improve fluency and avoid relying on translations.
🏞 Start small by thinking in single words, then progress to collocations and phrases, using pictures or the environment around you.
🗣 Talk to yourself in English to reinforce the habit of thinking in the language and enhance fluency.
✍ Write in English, starting with simple tasks like making shopping lists or leaving notes, to reinforce thinking in English.
👥 Practice speaking with others, focusing on thinking in English during conversations, to improve communication skills.
📖 Switch to a monolingual dictionary to look up words in English, which forces you to think in the language and enhances language learning.
    Enjoy your thinking in English!

One of the most result-oriented tips that teachers ignore to mention and learners avoid is to listen to top-notch podcast (like Global news podcast), note down the necessary vocabulary and collocations, and then ,after listening, try to reproduce the subject or news that was discussed in the original podcast. This is a hard-to-do and daunting exercise but the beneficial outcome far outweigh the effort went into doing it in the first place.

It's a huge pleasure to come across your channel, Mr. O'Hare! I was so used to write down the translations of new words, so I doubted it's gonna work out if I'll focus only on the definitions in English instead. Although I've already heard that it's not the only approach to learn new words/collocations or phrases. Some time ago I was almost ready to get rid of translations but unfortunately I didn't have enough time to learn English with progress and to plan how exactly am I going to fill the blanks in my knowledge of grammar rules, what am I going to write, how am I going to improve my pronunciation and so on... So I often ended up just going with the flow. I realized that the most difficult and big step is to change your habits. I've already built a habit of reading articles and listening to lectures/lessons/scientific movies in English, and I'm completely satisfied with the result. Because I can explore new topics related to programming and physics/astronomy in English even by listening without subtitles and do not feel the language barrier. (when I finished school I've been struggling with listening comprehension a lot...) I'm making the next big step - to start thinking, writing and speaking every day. I was always afraid of speaking, though the last time I've tried, I've improved the skill. I see that for programmers in Ukraine there is no other way to get a job without speaking English, the HRs check your level during the interview and for some (unknown to me) reason, a lot of companies prefer discussing projects in video/audio format instead of writing text, so now I realize that I 100% need to develop this skill as well and I just can't let myself to be afraid anymore. Until that moment I've seen that speaking is good to activate your vocabulary but was hard to speak to myself when I didn't need to communicate with anyone in English, so it seemed weird to speak to myself and I didn't have enough motivation to come over my fear. Now, I'm really determined to move to the next level and aim to become a confident and fluent English speaker :)

    1) Surround yourself with English (10 -30 mins everyday): movies, podcasts, books...
    - listen passively
    - repeat words, phrases you hear
    2) Only use words you know
If you lack words to impress: - paraphrase
    - speak sth else (let the idea go)
    3) Start small and build up
    - look at a picture and ''think'' the things you can see or look around and try to describe things you see on your head ( do it as a daily habit)
    - build up phrases, collocations or sentences
    4) Talk to yourself (about your plan for the day, an activity that you are doing, review your day...)
    5) Write in English (a diary, a note...)
    6) Practice with others
    7) Be monolingual ( use monolingual dictionary)
    - there is no such thing as a free lunch=you have to pay to get some benefits
    - the proof is in the pudding=only when you do sth, can you know if it works

@@dhirujha4966 hi, I'm sorry but don't have an idea about the information in your country. I'm from the Philippines. Here, if we want to migrate or study abroad, we will go to a consulting agency. It will cost us quite a large amount, for the agency fee and the cost of migrating or study abroad. The estimated minimum amount to spend is Canadian$10,000.This will not include the airfare, housing allowance, plus proof of income. I hope this helps!

Keith, you are so right by saying to keep the language simple, using a complex vocabulary when you don't have the basis, is just a car crash and that's one of the reasons why children learn faster, because they use elementary words. When I first started English I was given fairy tales to read, because the language was simple, then from there you build up.
