according to British English, I would love to listen to BBC podcasts, they have a lot of programs such as English 1 minutes for the beginner, the English we speak or English 6 minutes, etc. I feel like the pronunciation of the British is super charming, I really love it.
speaking of American English, I usually listen to Rachel's English, she analysis very clearly how the native speaker says in reality.
I think my level is pre-intermediate and now most of the time I focus on speaking skills.

I could understand about 95% of what you said on this video. Last year I didn't understand almost anything , so this year , 20 January I guess I stated watching videos in English every day from 6 PM to 11:30 PM , and it's helped a lot with my listening and my pronunciation , sometimes I can't get across what I feel, it's crazy for me to understand 95% native English Speaker , I studied American English, but I prefer British one .
But sometimes when I am speaking it seems like I can't find the right words . But I will improve my English

If it comes to alter what helps me the most I would definitely say that podcasts (especially BBC English, TED), youtube channels (like yours, Papa Teach Me, ETJ English, Learn English With TV Series) but as well reading books and then listening to the ones I read, watching movies and TV series (rly vital to start with the level you are able to understand and then one step at a time enhance the level of difficulty). Nevertheless, this is not going to help if you do not work consistently. Consistency is a key to learn anything. Do not ever dare to give up, since it is going to be just worse.

For me a really good exercise to improve all the skills at the same time is "transcription". Just take and audio as for example the one of this video and write all what the speaker says and then speak aloud at the same time that you are reading what you typed. It is a really good process to internalize the language.

Thanks for the interesting video and, most of all, for something that really felt "eye-opening" for me, when you say that even you native speakers can find it so difficult to understand movies or music. I got a C2 Proficiency level many years ago, but listening has often been frustrating for me. If not in conversations or watching videos, surely when watching some movies (where I istinctively turn up the volume to understand and sometimes with no benefit...) or listening to songs, where I have to pay attention to get the lyrics, and also in this case not always successfully. Always telling myself in frustration "you are a C2 level, you are supposed to understand everything!"... So thank you for the suggestions to improve, but also for this "little secret"... that no native speaker had never told me before!

I watch Scrubs,How I met your mother,Malcolm and other stories where I‘m familiar with. The more I hear the more it feels naturally .Every video I watch is in English it doesn’t matter what ,my native language German is dead at least in terms of media consumption.Unfortunately it doesn’t help me with my speaking skills, therefore they‘re terrible.

The course of English in the university is so deep. I am afraid that I can’t pass the English exam. When you are a university student , it means you need to learn by yourself.(Maybe not) I find that English is hard to study when I need to remember a lot of vocabularies. I wasn’t active to learn English in the past because I always failed my test. But now I have been a university student and choose a double degree about Chinese, I still need to learn English. So sad. Every day, driving to work for about 40 minutes, I tune my car radio on BBCWorld News, and I basically get the meaning of every topic.
I sometimes struggle with some weird accents, as when I try to follow conversations between Irish and Scottish people (pilots, crew members, etc.). I work at Ryanair Training Center in Milano (Orio al Serio) airport; such conversations are quite frequent.

A podcast that I like is All Ears English, girls full of energy while talking. And a SitCom that I have found the most entertaining for me is because with it is a efficient way to enrich my vocabulary it is called "The Big Bang theory", as you say is specific for me, is enjoyable and is comprehensible (although sometimes I don't understand because of high level vocabulary, but they tend to repeat those words, so I can memorize it, also they speak so fast is hard to catch what Sheldon says).

M'y conclusion from the video I watched is that if you want to improve your listening skills in English you have to listen as much as possible and there is so many ways you can use like listening to podcasts, watching movies or listening to a story that you know before because understanding the general idea of what you're listening is so much important then focus on the words word by word
Also you have to listen to a different accent's to make sure that you will understand Avery thing you hear

Hello! I think my English level is Medium. I have to speak in English in my work, so for me this is very useful. In my book I have learned a lot by watching videos with English subtitles, because in some cases it is easier to identify words that you don't know and then search for the meaning.
    Thanks for the new knowledge!

It's an awesome video and I would recommend other English learners that they should watch TV shows in their target language and listening to songs is another very effective way of learning a language because when you listen to the songs you will automatically learn grammar and vocab so I think listening to songs would be a better one

Thanks a million for such great advice. I really enjoy watching your videos, because I find them really helpful. I'm an Egyptian English teacher, and YES, listening is a troublesome skill to the most of EFL learners:D I always recommend them to practice it as much as they can to master these skills. I think English-subtitled videos are a good start to improve listening skill. They help the brain to process spoken language and get used to it.

Guys, ABL takes a lot of time, you can not say that im going to be listening for one month and I will be perfect at the end of the month. it really takes time. for me, for the past two years, all the news, tips, DIYs, video tutorials, literally everything I wanted to hear/see, I listen to it in English. and now I can proudly say that I have understood every single word in your video using a speed of 1.75 cuz the normal one sounds a bit not normal to me.

Loved your accent, thanks for sharing this video, it’d be amazing to watch a video of yourself explaining the origin of your accent (I’m quite curious), I know England has a lot of different accents.. I’m upper intermediate level (B2), currently learning more expressions from series -like Los Simpsons and Futurama; they have a lot of expressions I’ve used with American speakers, and also other series such as The IT Crowd and Sherlock Holmes to understand British accent.

Thanks for this useful video :) Even though it was a long one, I completely enjoyed it since I found myself able to understand everything you said.
Now, to answer your question, I reckon we all know what we need to do, at some level in this learning process, to improve a determined area, but still remain stagnant waiting for someone else to tell us what we should do. An example could be, in terms of pronunciation, that I have noticed that too many people always ask how to pronounce words, although they don't usually take a little bit of their time to search them. That's frustrating. I wager that most of English learners do not know about the IPA which it could become a "lifesaver" when it comes to reinforce that subject. I fathom there are lots of dialects with different pronunciation, yet still I believe it is quite important to have it in mind because as we all know, English is a non-phonetic language.
Which sort of resources would I recommend? I think you have listed pretty well what we can choose in this whole spectrum, depending on our level of course. Personally I enjoy listening to audios concerning to philosophy. Yeah! I could say that because they make me think of words I did not know existed, therefore as an option I can deploy them in the future. And on top of that, make me ponder about life itself.
Cheers mate, keep doing a wonderful job.

I'm upper intermediate. I try to listen as much as i can, but when it comes to TV shows .. there are American movies way more than British ones , so i ended up speaking the two accents mixed together 😥. Another thing, while listening most of the time its hard to remember the new words..or even it's hard to understand them, so sometimes i feel there's no improving at all 😫 Thank you for your video.
