- You can’t miss what you’ve never known! That doesn’t make any sense!!!! You miss things that you have experienced and no longer have. You can miss your ex. You can miss being a kid with no responsibilities. You can miss living in another country. You can miss a long passed relative.
Do i miss the village? No! I’ve never experienced it. I’ve experienced snippets! I have some amazing friends and neighbours where i currently live, and that’s a glimmer of a village. But I’ve still never experienced what I’m describing. I lone for it, but i can’t miss it.
And expecting your partner to read your mind never ends well. This is also why the neurosparkly folk just straight up say what we mean rather than expecting you to infer a meaning.

So I actually really liked these lines cos of what I now know is the way I interpreted them and not necessarily the obvious meaning 😂
For ease I'm gonna use she/her pronouns for the singer, and he/him pronouns for the intended, also cos the CRJ music video is hilarious 😂
The "before you came into my life I missed you so bad" I took to be an exaggeration of the whole premise that they just met and she's super into him. So she loves him so much that when he wasnt around, before they met, she even missed him then. OR she is saying she wishes she'd had him in her life sooner, like missing someone when they're gone but a desire to have known them earlier.
And I always thought the "thought you should know that" was another way of saying "I am telling you because I think it is important that you know". Like "I thought you should know there's a baby seagull out the window because I know birds are a special interest for you". But obviously with it being lyrics the usual emphasis to show this is pretty much lost 😂
tl;dr: "I missed you so bad" = I love you so much it has created a wormhole and I now love you backwards in time too. And "thought you should know that" = I am telling you this because it's important for you ❤

While I don't disagree--like at all--I interpreted it as "before we met but after we saw each other," which doesn't make it less toxic, but it is mildly less incomprehensible.
