Though difficult for many stylists to hear, as a customer it's refreshing to me that you called out those in the profession that aren't learning their trade. It's about time one of your own admitted what goes on. There are too many stylists out there masquerading as such who have minimal skills at best, and unfortunately I've run into quite a lot of them. I have blonde hair and have had it turned green, pink and orange after asking for highlights. it got so bad I finally got consultation from my niece who was a blonde specialist and started doing it myself, and it looks great, and I have not destroyed my hair. As for cuts, don't get me started. I cannot tell you how many times I've sought consultation - with numerous photos - asking the stylist if he/she can create the hair style on me, given my hair texture, length, etc. I even tell the person that if they can't do the cut that's okay, I'll pay them for the consult. Without fail I'm always told yes, and then they proceed to butcher my hair AND charge me $$$ for doing so. Just try to tell a stylist that what you requested via a picture looks nothing like what they cut. I've only done that twice after being butchered, and both times the stylist was condescending and rude. This has happened at high and low end salons. There's a problem in the business that needs to be fixed. As a consumer I'm tired of being charged big money for crappy service.
this is honestly the most seamless and beautiful layered haircut I have ever seen! you're incredibly skilled and I am very thankful you have shared it. Thank you so much !
Ok I have to say this is my ultimate favorite look I've never really seen layers like this. I kind of watch this video like 5 times a day and have shown a few friends. I also love the mullet look with the dryer looking hair and kind of textured look. I do also enjoy seeing your haircuts from start to finish because I learn a lot. And you're right about hairdressers I am terrified to go to another stylist and ask for something fun because I've had such bad experiences and then blamed for not liking their service. I will be trying this look on myself, with the help of my husband I am so excited!!
👏👏 Well said jake! I totally agree with you about how some hairdressers are willing to colour hair badly, send the clients out with a curly blow, beach wave look, only for it to look totally crap when it's straight😡😠
Jake, agree 1,000%. Work your craft and keep building skill. It all starts with the cut, period! This is a stunning cut...not only just as it is, but also, a versatile base for future creative styling. Love your format, serious demo techniques and, for me, your sense of humor. Thanks for the great inspo...much appreciated!
You're so right!I've seen so many hairdressers cutting and trying to hide the bad results with their Curling irons and beach waves so we can't see the end result.Thank you so much! What kind of shears are apropriate for This technique?Slide cutting shears, or regular?❤️👍
A M A Z I N G And i detest having hair curled after a cut. I want to see it! One stylist was my best ever until she retired. Best long layer point cutter ever/this type of cut technique in the video person ever. No one like her sense, so I am now DIY.
Manner! I so AGREE with the CRAP! HAIRCUTS! Thank you for saying that! I am in the INDUSTRY...30 PLUS YEARS! YAY. I believe that a GREAT HAIRCUT is really the basis for a great style! I'm retired. I can't get a GOOD HAIRCUT ANYWHERE 😩 IM ALWAYS ENVIOUS OF THE CLIENTS/FRIENDS, AND FAMILY THAT I STILL DO HAIR FOR) BECAUSE MY HAIRCUTS ARE AWESOME! I TAKE THE TIME TO CONTINUE TO EDUCATE MYSELF! And I actually know what elevation is and angles and BEING PRECISE! ABLE TO CONSULT, BLA BLA...I Want to personally Thank you! You are a great EDUCATOR! KEEP DOING YOUR CHANNEL! GET BETTER JOKES! WAY TO GO W.THE SUGAR WITHDRAWL! (That is a TOUGH THING,giving up something you love! I relate! Maybe we will live longer, having become aware of that sugar baby effect 😉) love your styles! I think I've watched every long layer tutorial u have! Thanx again!
You are so correct !!!! My hairdresser doesn’t know how to do seamless layers . All the time the back of my hair looks so chopped . Looks like I have just two layers not blended , I have to go back in myself and fix my own hair , and doing the back is almost impossible…..
Wish I had someone like you to cut my hair. I cam count on one hand the good haircuts I've had and I am 60 years old. And yes I'm talking about salon haircuts
Man ! Im in love with this hair ! That's what im looking for 😻 i so wish I could do my hair by an intelligent hairdresser like you. Respect and love ❤️
This is gorgeous and so perfectly proportional without any obvious layer cuts! Question 🙋🏼♀️: What was it that you sprayed before blowing it dry- something for hold, a heat protectant? Thanks so much!
Love that effect 🤩 ..I've always been looking for a haircut which gives me a volume effect..never could get what I wanted. Last 10 years I cut my hair myself 😅 gave up on hairdressers. How will this technique work on thin hair?
So impressed! Could you please recommend me a talented hairdresser that has your approach towards the layers as you do in Orlando/Tampa/Miami area? You can save my life:)
So my question I asked in the more elvira video using the same technique was in regard to a side part. You did address that, but just let me confirm: If I do want a side part protected, I just simply begin the first triangle at the side part, and essentially let that be the pointiest point of the cut and focus. Correct? Thanks!
I assume if there's an existing fringe, we just section that out and create a point of reference at the apex? Also, there's no over direction, right? Super cool approach and the "funnel" visual may really help some of us. Although, I agree with your observation of the quality of work we sometimes see, my only "criticism" is that I really think this industry can be soul-crushing. It's not a good look when someone of your expertise and talent calls other hairdressers "Crap Hairdressers." It may be true, and sure, some people truly LOVE seeing others called out for mistakes, (Lord knows I've worked alongside my share of them) but we really don't need to say that part out aloud or bulldoze over others to get the point across. The ones who struggle know who they are. I hope if they're watching, they grab a mannequin and practice.
@,Rain...I worked with a stylist named Rain in Austin years ago...one of the best stylists I've ever had the pleasure to know n work with ..his technique was excellent n so was his way with clients... clients always asked for the stylist that looked like Prince...if that's you Rain...pray you are doing well... some of us Stylists DO stay up on our continuing ed... that's why we watch this guy...n yes Rain your comment was on point
I want this cut, but can't do it on myself. Most hairdressers can't do it either. The amount of times my layered cut has been curled by the hairdresser, only to find out choppy it is later on. Last time, the hairdresser had to ask a colleague what point cutting was, because I asked for it. Any hairdressers in the UK here that can do this??
I freakin’ love what you threw out @+/-9.27! I’ve been actually encouraged by salon owners and self-proclaimed “experts” to always encourage the client to opt for beach waves so that you can hide color and cut mistakes and mediocracy bc according to them, “there will always be mistakes” and you have to make the style “IG friendly” for your portfolio. 🤮
😀I Love your technique and your style , not so much the hip hop jive, it doesn't match your classy style or your classy hairstyles You Are The Best😊 I rarely watch others anymore, I see their mistakes , they won't check their work on camera either and cover it with a curl just as you say I think their motto is "Fake it til you make it" I guess 😞 Carla
I gave you a thumbs down. There is never space to utter the words "there are crap hair dressers out there" if you must shatter others you might want to look into a little self inventory.
BUT, he is right. he's not saying they ALL are crappy!! I am not going back to mine, because she/he will not do anything but a blunt cut and face frame. plus for other reasons.

Well said and I totally agree!
Me too. It’s ridiculous how limited so many stylists are. I always go to an old person who owns their own salon because they have seen it all.
My thoughts exactly!!!
Yep you are right. Thats why i cut my own hair....
Flip that comb, you haircutting beast!!! Lol🤗
