Gave up on waiting for my stylist to have an opening. I fell in love with her when she first cut my hair and I stupidly told everyone I know. Now because they all go to her and then the pandemic, she books like 6 months out! 😫 so . . .
Just gave myself the wolf cut last night. While I loved it, I had the exact issue of not enough texture, volume, or lift at the back of the crown. After doing this cut, I noticed volume before I even tousled it! And I have TONS of baby fine flat hair that barely holds a curl!
Finally a cut that gives my pancake hair some texture and lift! Thank you for your thorough explanations!

Yay!!! No more trying to explain six different photographs of what I want but DON’T want!! It’s pretty funny how the concept of “shag” varies from person to person. It seems every time I find someone who “gets” it they either move or retire!!! I think the Farrah flip - NOT an updated version - should be mandatory mastery to graduate from salon school. Thank you for “getting” it!!

Awesome!! You obviously know what you're doing. I have repeatedly asked stylists to give me layers/volume, and they keep giving me the basic two- or three-layer cut that is still way too long at the shortest layer, and it becomes flat within a day. I don't know why stylists can't listen to their clients and create volume, especially in the back/crown where I want it, like you indicated!! Thanks for this video.

I have thin hair and it's thinning a lot at the very front after COVID. Still gonna try this on my one length lob - it's looking too stringy. I just tried this technique, and its exactly what my hair needed!! I took off about 3 inches. My hair is a little past my shoulders and I like to blow it out with a round brush for alot volume when I style it. I use to have super thick curly hair, but it has thinned out alot around the crown area and in the back due to covid. This simple cut really helped in this area!! I definitely recommend doing this for some extra volume!! Thanks so much! 😁

I started cutting my own hair when I moved to a rural area, most stylists don't get my long wild wavy curly hair that grows like a weed, I rarely got what I wanted anyway, so I started with the unicorn cut , but it wasn't really giving me the volume I needed, I tried your last two diy cuts and I'm getting compliments left and right! Even though it's hard to do because I'm doing a longer version it's hard to see what I'm doing lol, I'm definitely going to add this video to my routine!
How would you recommend diy'ing cutting the bottom part of this cut for the look you have in this video?
My hair and I Thank you so much for making these videos! 😍🤗

I did it! I didn't cut it short enough the first time and it didn't look quite the same as the video. I went back and did it again, cutting it shorter and it looks great. Thanks for the video!

Mine didn't turn out good either, but I didn't cut it as short as he did on video. I'm kind of afraid to cut it shorter, It seems too disconnected from the rest of my hair.

I’ve been cutting my own hair since the last hair cut I had at a hairdresser which was in the 8th grade … that was 1986. Every person I meet tells me my hair is gorgeous , wants to know what do I put in my hair , how do I get it that way etc. i do my own color also. My hair grows over 18 inches in a year and I will chop 10 inches off of it layer it with arms behind my head and cutting from below in about an hour half the year I wear it between my upper and lower waist then I chop it again lol. Hair is personal… I have permed chopped colored and cut the hair or practically everyone I know at least once lol my nephew has incredible crazy curly hair that is all different levels of curls depending upon which part of his head you have to cut ,,& I once spent 2 hours working to make him look like Al Pacino at his best lol totally transformed him from a mess to amazing he was shocked his friends were shocked … hair is so very specific from one person to the next; what way will make you look great and compliment a very different face . Some people including myself just don’t have the Face for the flat or straight cuts that everyone today has. I myself absolutely cannot pull off any straight hair cut and look like total SHIT with it because of the plains of my face being very flat and having a bumpy crooked nose. Therefore I curl and create volume but still the hair has got to be cut completely uniquely for lack of a better word. All of the nutty ways women would wear their hair in photos from Victorian times with weird bumps and or one big curl etc those basically all look better on me… I maintain they all had different ways of making the bun or the curl because they all had different faces . It’s easy to cut on a cut face because let’s face it some people could look good with any and MANY cuts… but try to make a person who believes they are ugly ‘beautiful’ with the right cut… that takes the right stylist, and nowadays that’s rare.

Someone else asked, can you go over cutting the bottom portion? You did it so fast! I can’t tell if it is just blunt cut, or beveled a bit. Thanks! I did the top ponytail section and it looks great.

I just tried this. I am not scared of the scissors at all. It did give volume. I've been cutting my hair for the past 7 years. If you are nervous, just cut small at first.

You can get them for really cheap but good quality on Ali express just takes a while to get here. Amazon is the next best place but it will be a little bit more expensive. If you don’t wanna wait to have them shipped you can go to Sally’s but they’re pretty pricey there.

ruclips.net/video/itsFr072trI/видео.html I commented once I don’t see it here, but if it does show up, here is his video I mentioned where he links the chunk texturized scissors in the description and he will get a cut 😂 Incase your not familiar click the teeny arrow lookn button ^ (but facing down lol) and it will drop down to the description of the video and there are the links😉 my other comment had the direct Amazon link ..you can also switch over to the smaller texturizer scissors I believe too

After watching this tutorial SEVERAL times tonight..I've decided I'm going in for the 'chop' today !✌🤞.
Do you have any words of advice for me ?......anything at all ??????? LOL

    • @JaneSmith0709
      @JaneSmith0709 2 года назад

@@ange2370 Well, my hair is very very thick, so the hardest part was cutting through that thick ponytail. It took about 5 solid minutes and a lot of arm power, so I recommend cutting sections of the ponytail at a time instead of trying to cut through the entire thing at once.
Also, when cutting the pony, be sure to keep that angle he showed; it's easy to forget the angle when you're fighting just to get the scissors through the hair. I went a little shorter than I wanted to so err on the side of caution.
I recommend flat ironing your hair as much as possible before cutting. And after you cut the ponytail, go back in and point cut the layers so they don't look so choppy.
Overall, the cut came out so cute and I love it! I've gotten nothing but compliments on it, even from my harshest critics. I feel like this is about as foolproof a home haircut as there is for women. As long as you don't go too short you'll be fine. Let me know how it goes!

My only concern when doing a big section layer cut like this is if your hairline dips in quite a bit on the sides of your head there tends to be a shelf-effect because there is no hair there to bridge the gradation in length, especially on thicker hair. Just be careful. You can try to blend if this happens...
