  • Today we're replacing the barrel jack connector on a KS0 Pro owned by SerpentX Tech. This issue will become more common as people are running the KS0 Pro on 12v instead of the designed voltage of 19V. This ends up putting too much amperage through the barrel jack connector and overheating it.
    Sorry for some out of focus areas in this video, I was experimenting with a 15x macro lens for the GoPro 12 since it has a fixed focus.

    Good job. Would recommend adding low melt to the legs before removal. But you got it done.

    I used arctic 1mm thick on the top rails and seems to work well. I use 6.5"× 1/2" x 1mm thick

    Hey Mad Electron, new sub here.
    Can you comment on the safety and/or suitability of a 24v PSU ?
    I was wondering if the the KS0 Pro hardware could run on 24v input, and if this would resolve the issue of too many amps through the barrel plug.
    The 24v PSU's are the same style (like a laptop charger) and intended for running LED driver boards.
    Thanks for the great content!

    At 12 volts it only takes 120 watts to reach 10 amps. There’s going to be a lot of these getting fried by people using the server PSUs. At 19.5 volts it takes 195 watts to reach 10 amps.

      So 19.5 would be the safer option, but if your of above 300gh what is a wattage?

    • @MyLibertyTV
      @MyLibertyTV 2 месяца назад

      @@cadendgama1427above 300GH it gets into the 170+w range, I recommend using a 230w power supply when clocking over 300GH.

      @@MyLibertyTV thank you! I am going to be using a 19.5v 230w psu

    This is definitely not the ideal way to do this repair. Leaving low temp solder in the joint is almost a 100%guarantee of a future failure. Never leave low temp solder in ANY joint, especially on a board that you KNOW is going to be under constant thermal stress. If you're going to do it, do it right. Use the low melt to wick/solder sucker ALL the solder out of the joints. Then use leaded solder to install the new part

    Then influencers should stop recommending things that can burn down our house. 12v to 19v. I’ll bet ice river laughing all way to bank when they see this crap. I don’t get it. If they don’t know electrical principles they shouldn’t recommend such things.
