Appreciate you always sharing these errors and giving us guidance Vega, also condolences & keep your head up
I got you bro!
12v is better for the power stages - they'll run cooler. but yeah, not for the connector, esp when aggressively OCing. Btw, when you rebuild it, throw a better firmware on there while you're at it ;p
My 1st gen Veteran Miner cable melted on my KS0pro. He replaced it with the v2 cable and so far so good on stock. Still feels really hot and wouldn't OC with this setup.
My V2 failed 3 days ago.
@@dennisswainston411 Was it overclocked?
@@MassBoost Yes, @ 290Ghz with a cooling fan blowing on the power jack.
@@dennisswainston411 And that's why it failed. Those barrel jack/connectors are only rated for 10 amps, and even The Veteran Miner puts a disclaimer "We are not responsible for any damage to your Asic Miner from overclocking while using this product". The fan blowing on it might help to mitigate the heat produced by the added amperage, but that's not even proven. But was it the cable that failed, or the KS0 jack itself, because I have yet to see a failed V2 cable, only the center pin in the jack itself as it's the weakest point.
@@MassBoost Agreed. I will either solder the power cable directly to the PCB (clearing a pad for the 12V and Ground) or installing a 6 pin socket.
i would just solder it directly.
Sorry serpent, imho the solution is not cooling the barrel, what if something happen like a dead fan, or just like yours, the fan get bumped, the real solution is to prevent the connection heating up.
throw a 6 pin on and be done
A 4 pin would be all he needs.
@MassBoost that too. 6 pin just way more convenient
@@crypto440 How is it more convenient? Just just plug your 4/6/8 pin connector into the 4 pin socket, just like you can plug in your 8 pin connector into a 6 pin PCIe socket.
@MassBoost there are no 4 pin pci Connectors that I know of only 4 pin cpu which has a different pin out. Which is what I meant by more convenient every one has a 6 pin pci power.
@@crypto440 I'm pretty sure Molex makes one. EDIT: Yes they do, I just looked it up on their site, and on Digikey, as they carry them that will connect to a 6 pin connector.
