There are people who live like this today in the modern world. People can get used to a wide range of living conditions and eventually find them normal.
i personally really enjoy this. Shows that not everything is sunshine and rainbow under the UEE, even on microTech. Shows cast system as well. But yeah can't wait to see the normal settlements too that we saw couples year ago at citCon.
They showed them off in Pyro last citcon at the end of october o7 and in the pyro playtest (The starengine trailer also showed something of the sort on microtech too) So I imagine we will get none-derelict ones soon in Stanton too First though.. those FPS problems around them need to be fixed.. @@AuraMaster_7never been to Detroit huh?😂 Unfortunately here in the US most of the big major cities only have a few nice areas in them and the rest of it is junk and waste and rundown areas. Its unfortunate but the people who love their keep voting on the same politicians from the same party every single year. The same cities are top contributors to murder, Grape pollution and basically everything bad about the country and if you removed the top 10 of these places the US would have some of the best and lowest statistics for these things in the worlds. The US is a strange place because of its political dichotomy.
The reason why there are run down shanty towns is because the intention is to have a caste system similar to the Roman Empire (or Starship Troopers!) where "Citizenship must be earned". To live on Microtech's nice areas, there is no way you'd be allowed unless you have citizen status or some kind of authorisation. There will absolutely be a second class of person in the UEE itself. This is core to Star Citizen and "Citizen" is even in the name of the game! You will need to earn citizenship through military service (SQ42) or some other means. Essentially, in ancient Rome citizens were expected to do certain duties for the state in order to keep their citizenship, you might lose privileges if you refuse to perform those acts. If you do not have citizenship then you may not have the right to live in modern (nice) areas. We can expect something like this in the future when the reputation system is fully implemented.
I have to agree. A derelict settlement like that would have to exist in some star citizen where there wasn't a ton of space traffic going by all the time. It's we are castaways, on the Big Island of Hawaii, out in the woods. I remember in Mass Effect there was the derelict of the Hugo Gurnsback, but it was an exploration ship that disappeared and nobody knew where to find it, not on the regularly trafficked planet.
The new settlements are whats left of the first settlers who civilized Stanton before the corporations bought the planets for themselves. Since the mega corps are more focused on their main landing zones, other uee systems who are not like this might have another kind of places and more modern settlements. But really cool video!
Eh. I really like them. They are finally delivering on the promise of Derelicts and the old Lost and Found trailer they made. They always kept talking about more "lived in" derelicts and reclaimed settlements. I think they're awesome.
People who don't want to live by the rules of big companies live outside the system. And then under conditions that are just not so good, but with more freedom. I think it fits.
I agree, but not in metal Hauses without doors and windows. Did you saw that Volture at the beginning eating scrap? Well that would happen to this reclaimer. They could live in nice wooden houses. That makes sense. Not this.
The lore talks about having to clear squatters (unapproved settlers) from the planets after the corps bought them. This is what's left when you forcibly move people from their homes and don't build a suburb. A lot of people may not be able to afford living in the stylish city of New Babbage, or want that sort of environment of enforced wellness. It's not all unicorns and rainbows in the UEE. This ain't Star Trek.
You need to tale a look at Brazilian favelas. And those are in the same world than New York, Paris and Tokyo. We already have both extremes in the game so I hope they add towns in the future. Not as nice as the great cities, but not as ugly as.the settlements.
Yeah, but favelas are functional , this settlements don t even have door and windows. I come from Bosnia and there was war there when I was kid and still it was not like this lol.
@@infinitespace239 I'm from Chile and I have seen this kind of constructions with my own eyes. Even worse. Yeah, but it is not just points of interest that are important, but quality. What good are all these things if we can't interact with basic stuff. I don't know that is just my opinion
Yeah Shanty towns in a star system that is within UEE controlled space. Why dont they have pre fabricated living pods etc??? Why so slum like???? Makes no sense whatsoever and is worrying as its a sign they havnt done much development on other asset types.....
I agree with you, this settlement makes no sense. No one would live there, they could get a free ride down the street to New Babbs and from there head anywhere.
I would live there 😅, RP diversity is the real sauce of this game, if we only would have futuristic luxury city the game would turn out to be too flat imo
@@grifson_1065 Anyone who wanted to give them a ride down the street. Plenty of people would do that. It'd be easy. They're definitely not stuck there. I think the lore reason is humans.
