Cheers for stopping by everyone! To check out my Merch and New Primal Pursuit Caps - www.primalpursuit.co.nz/ Thanks for all your support. And please, If you know the area no need to mention it! Onto the next adventure!
My 4 year old and I have been watching some spearfishing this evening and he's been asking to see Ollie Craig hunting. Great timing, made the father son evening!
Epic hunt ! Recon you have the best attitude for hunting. Respecting the animal and appreciating the experiance, you not hunting to feed your ego for sure. Thank you.
Good on ya mate for getting up there and going solo. There nothing better than being up on the tops by yourself. It’s my happy place. Well done on the alpine double. 🤙🤙
Exactly Ollie, hunt for your own rewards. I'm the same I like huge animals, but the adventure is the deal for me. Beautiful Chamois and Tar both great shots. Thank you for giving us a little rifle run down on caliber and equipment. Great video beautiful views. 👍
Great little Adventure, Ollie!!! You definitely have the right attitude towards hunting be it Kingfish or Chamois or Red Deer! Sad that so many others just shoot without any consideration to the animal or the terrain and either take the first animal they can get within range of (usually taking a questionable shot), that or they are obsessed with the Horns or the Length etc. and take the horns and leave the rest of the meat to rot and be eaten by carrion scavengers like hawks or vultures. So glad that I found your channel several years back as it's nice to see a young sportsman with some ethics!! Take care, Mate!! - Dave
Cheers Dave, I took what I could and would have taken it all if coming by chopper. Agree, but we all start somewhere and unfortunately lots without a good mentor in regard to choosing animal etc. need a lot more public awareness about that stuff which I’ll try to include on future videos cheers
@@olliecraig-primalpursuit That's why I keep returning to watch your adventures!! I wasn't knocking your hunting Ollie, I fully understand you can only carry down so much. Hunters like you aren't the issue. Here in Canada I've run across full White-tail Bucks with the antlers removed with the top of the head and the backstraps taken and that was it the rest of a 200+ pound animal left to rot and attract bears/mountain lions and wolves among other creatures eager to clean up the kill and at the same time introducing these predators into the area where people walk through or even set up hunting camps. Nothing like seeing a Lion outside your canvas wall tent first thing in the morning to give you chills for days. You do things right. I don't know who your mentor was but they did a fantastic job and in return you now have this knowledge plus the experiences you have to pass on to others, and I'm delighted to watch you do that!! Take care!! - Dave
That's more than a "half decent" buck in anyone's book!! Weldone! Just a headsup on those little bushbuck tents, they WONT handle a decent alpine wind!!
Your brave solo expedition in the mountain wilderness for three days is truly inspiring, showcasing your resilience and love for adventure. Your ability to share such thrilling experiences with honesty and passion captivates and motivates. And I am Floating Village Life
Great vid enjoyed the watch. Your comment about the wind mid vid. In calm conditions wind will head uphill when the sun has warmed the faces...so depending on season and aspect of the face from mid/late morning till evening it will head uphill....then as it cools it will fall back down the hill during evening night and early morning. Hope this helps future hunts.
Awesome footage Ollie. I really enjoyed watching this episode. I've seen other hunting vids but got bored and swiped to another video of something else. For some reason I watched the whole journey and enjoyed it. It looked stunning the scenery and breath taking. Keep up the great job bro.
That’s great too hear! Feel free to let me know parts which were boring or could Improve on too, as hunting episodes are new for me so lots to improve on
Awesome video nice hunt thanks for sharing,… I know you had a long ways to go but to the ribs of any animal is the best part sad to see u didn’t take them
I agree, ribs are amazing! I have access to Deer not far from home which I hunt for meat regularly. For those animals I Utilise everything, Liver, Heart, Ribs, etc etc.
Cool vid bro. I think urll find those prints are hears🐇. I thought I once ran into a pack of wild dogs once until I started seeing hears everywhere haha
Oh yeah...another great video my man. This is really good stuff Ollie, well done... Question: Wouldnt it be good to take someone with you thats never done this before? What an experience for him and safer for you.
Very impressive hunt, and good on you for chasing down the injured animal. I can hardly believe you do this. You're off trail in incredibly rugged country, carrying your hunting and filming gear in addition to your backpacking gear. How do you pack out the meat when you are already so loaded down? Like I said, very impressive. Something you might find amusing is that the YT speech recognition wrote "suppresa" when you said "suppressor". Probably the same that it would have done for a strong Baaawston (Boston) accent here in the States.
Hey Ollie! love the spear fishing videos, you pretty much taught me how to spear fish haha what boots are you running in this video, I'm looking at getting into more hunting and cant figure out which boots to get?
Hey mate using meindl Gufforts they have been great to me. Lots of good options out there I’ve been hearing lots of good stuff about the crispi boots lately. Not sure what I’ll go next maybe try for something with bit more width even though these are supposed to be one of the more wider pairs.
The films along with scenes from mission impossible etc were shot a bit further south from here. Closer to Queenstown but still along the southern alps of the south island
ollie, why do you guys waste the meat. i grew up on a farm in South Africa and my father and grandfather made emphasis on the fact you kill it you eat it, no waste. I will never dare just cut the back straps out then just leave the rest, my dad would have wipped the daily lights out of me. you got an awesome hunt in but now you waste, you could debone most meat then leave the rest. i really enjoy your style and content , kudos to you Sir.

Not cheesey at all,Bro. Pretty genuine emotions after you got the buck with the effort you went too. You bloody earned that Chamois that's for sure.

Just the one mans? I did notice they are quite high. The two man's go hard I've had those in some shit, but not much time in the one man
@@olliecraig-primalpursuit yeah I can't speak for the others but I saw 2 of the one man tents go in a decent alpine blow.
That's pretty awesome mate well done
Thank you! Cheers!

The films along with scenes from mission impossible etc were shot a bit further south from here. Closer to Queenstown but still along the southern alps of the south island
Do you pack out all the meat from both animals?
Would weigh a lot

Будь осторожен, Олли. Там очень много акул.
There is nothing wrong with that Chamois Buck. Anything over 9 inches is a trophy and 10" bucks are quite rare..

Throw some baking soda on your meat for 10 mins then wash off, if it's going to be tough.
hunting and collecting just the mounts ? idk if its ethical
