Gosh, I continue to appreciate what a treasure this channel is. Handling the gear solo and keeping the experience authentic is impressive. There are plenty of glitzy channels out there, which I'm happy to ignore. You keep it real, and your excellent videography makes the simplicity all the more appealing. I hope your hard work can be appreciated by the channel growing and thriving. You deserve it. Thanks again for taking us along.
In my younger days i used to be like this shooting fishing diving on exmoor devon when i was on days off , bringing home lobster scallops and venison for my family. Now i'm old and i'm living my life vicariously through this lad. thanks so much Ollie.
Great video I’m very jealous of your dinner I’m in Auckland hospital recovering after 2 life saving surgeries and my dinner did not look that good thanks for helping kill the time
I got to say those overnight boating trips with fishing and foraging is probably the best time an outdoor enthusiast can have. For me at least. You can cook your catch, you can night fish, have good sleep, and when you are ready to go home, you pull the anker and hit that throttle. Only thing that has to play along is the wind really.
Hey my bro your videos always make me homesick😮😢😅 Just got myself a COBB the other week after watching dozens of your 'Product Testing Sessions' 🎉 those dudes need to hook you up as an embassador🤗 Keep up the Primo Mahi 😊😊😊
They do hook me up and I have a link I put in the descriptions for you to get a discount and I get a small kickback I hoped you used it!? They are awesome grills though bro! I love them. Thanks so much for the support too bro! really appreciate that!
@@olliecraig-primalpursuit aww nah i didn't know, didn't think to look🤦🏻♂️😅😅 oh well glad they look after ya anyway😅😅😅 Sorry bro my bad, will check next time🤗
The presence of mind to change up your strategy was a really good take away for me here. Great video again mate. Your mates must love the constant kaimoana deliveries!
Yeah mate, I've got a quote in front of my desk at home which reads ''Don't keep doing the same things and expect different results'' Applies to a lot of things in life.
So awesome mate. New Zealand looks like a dream place to live at, and your lifestyle hunting and fishing there is what I see as the ideal way of life and what I am working towards achieving.
Ol, you seriously are a king, living like a king, eating kingy. I could taste that poke bowl you made. That king fish was massive! Leaking plenty on you as you were trying to lift it up for the shot 😂 Your set up is perfect bro. Everything you use is fit for purpose, built to purpose, no stuffing around, just humble and straight at it! Chur bro! Thanks again for another wicked video from an Aussie in london! 🎉 that kingy! Ffs bro, what an absolute mammoth!
@@olliecraig-primalpursuit I enjoy everything you do, anyone to be able to go dive with you will learn so much in such a short time. My ears are screwed and damaged so I can’t go deep anymore, but would be honoured to wing man it on your trips any day. I was wondering though, do you ever camp up on any islands, or you want to stay clear of rangers?
@@olliecraig-primalpursuit that and you got me on the Koheru - for me im 98% rod fishing so much harder to get them onboard as they have soft lips and fight hard and are also line shy. But a challenge and worth the work.
This is my second vid of you and i am glad i found this channel. Always nice seeing hidden gems. Wish you the best. Also that king fish is insane it didnt look that big until you brought it up to the surface 🤯
I love watching these fresh fish cook ups, reminds me of your earlier videos where you used to make wraps after a long day's spearfishing. Always makes me hungry. 😄
After all your years in and in the water you've never caught a fish in spawn? Tried your mayo and crumb combo, very good! Always inspirational, thank you Ollie.
I haven't had much luck on Kingfish in years past as I was unable to access offshore islands where they are still caught through winter. Hard to come by them in the inshore reefs over the winter months. Now with a bigger boat a different story!
High Mark Premium Dark Soy Sauce is my favourite! Grew up drinking it 😅 Love the vids man! Living the kiwi dream and we get to experience it through your awesome narration ❤
Yeah, I think the knockers are a bit captured by the branding. The Premium Dark So is way less salty to taste than Kikoman in a side by side test. I used to go with Kikoman until I did a trip to a part of NZ where I realised I'd left my soy back at home and the local 4 Square only had cheaper brands, and I thought 'hang on, this has a milder, nicer flavour'.
Yeah I agree, I’ll have to compare the ingredients list or what not side by side. I grew up on the ‘cheap’ stuff then actually got gifted a bottle of ‘high end’ Japanese sushi soy sauce and I thought it was crap. I guess as long as the cheap stuff isn’t made in way that it’s worse for your health then who gives a shit!
Another great video Ollie, after a decade of diving I still won't trust a roller gun over an old-school double band, it also might be time to consider a double flopper spear mate. Cheers
Have never had issues until these last two seasons where I have tried to be a hero and going for brain/stone shots. all years up until these last two, I used to shoot kingies just behind pec fin and never lost a single fish. Double floppers very overkill for nz in my opinion. def less room for error with traditional setup!
We don't get anything like kingfish around my island (Jersey) but it is all relative so I think we can all relate in some way or another. Your advice at the end struck a chord. I am getting in as often as the tides (very big) and weather permits hunting bass and bream. We can't take lobsters or crays diving over here but we can take crabs. Your videos are inspirational. Keep up the good work.
Yo nice job ollie great video and that was an epic battle with the kingi. Also the cook up looks delicious and i know i have said this in other video comments but keep up the great videos as its awesome to be out there in the ocean and to see what nz offers
Very thrilling and heartwarming video. I do some spear fishing myself. But nothing compared to yours. I'm from the island know as the isle of spice. GRENADA. I hope some day I can be as good as you are, and also own a boat to do the same. Keep up the great job and keep safe. 🙏🏾
I'm just amazed at the beauty of New Zealand. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures with us. Have you ever thought about doing some rock climbing in that area. I'm sure Alex Hannold would love to do some climbing there.
Best spearfishing content on RUclips bro. Just lucky for me that the backdrop is home, which is the other side of the world these days. Finally get the tent now. Shots of the tent up in the past from the drone mean you needed to have half of the tent down to fly the drone. I kept wondering if you were just putting a tarp over legs to deal with the dew/rain etc. Guessing that was the Aldermans eh. Are they still rahui/protected for going ashore?
Yeah mate, tent stays half erect until even after sunset. Nice to lie down and look at the stars etc winding down before sleep and close the last piece. I believe the Aldermen's is still no stepping foot ashore. Doubt that will ever change
Nice job well done. I just wonder what kind of leading line you use pn your speargun, I think it's not monofilament. Can you please give a little bit about your line setup. Thanks
I’m not sold on the rollers. I know the kingy getting off doesn’t prove a thing either way but I have a 105 with a reverse mech and double 14mm bands stretched to 360% with a 7mm shaft and I string fish that I swear I have no business stringing all the time.
I'll be sure to show my aussies mates tomorrow at mahi bro(brisbane) they envy our abundance of kingfish (haku) especially hearing all my yarns🙄 back in my day living in Coromandel, Keep it up brother may Tangaroa keep you safe
Love that you’re on the anti canola wagon, that shits poison. The only decent one I’ve found is primal kitchen mayo (suitably named 😂) it’s made with avocado oil and is meant to be great, they also have heaps of aoilis. They sell it in Australia so I’m sure you guys can get it too! Thanks for the content, always get me fired up for diving!

Used to spearfishing in my younger days. Now I'm 73 yrs and love watching videos about fishing from my bedroom.
Мне 70 и я ещё ныряю на 25 м и стреляю там рыбу. 6 лет назад меня обокрали и забрали камеру, с тех пор не снимаю.
