Samsung Galaxy S3, I remember it being really snappy, now when I fire it up it is only a shell of its former self. I think there is more to it then battery degradation - (replaced it), software updates, apps and data and planned obsolescence, it seems as though the actual SOC degraded over time. Maybe it's just me.
Iphone 4 on ios 7, 4s on ios 9, 5s on ios 11. My next phone is the first gen SE which still runs great on ios 15 (best last ios version) and i am currently using a 12 mini now as my main phone with the SE as backup. Moving from ios 10 to 11 on the 5s is as terrible at ios 8 to 9 on the 4s. You really feel the phone struggling on those firmwares. Ios 12 made the 5s 25% better but still worst than ios 10.
I see all these problems at ALL Windows, Linux, Android and Iphones, but not on Symbian old devices (devices with 12 years or more)... and, until now, I have no "engineering explanations" why. ...I believe its some kind of "tricky technology" like old videogames keep doing great but new "social status" consoles are failuring miserable trying to be good options.
I'm always very miserly with resources - I like my devices clutter free and as fast as possible, so I live within the device limits for RAM and storage. Also stick to best practice for li-ion battery longevity. Generally speaking, I just don't see this dramatic 'slowing down' over time very much. And proven it over and over with work devices of the same spec issued to me and my colleagues. Theirs are a sluggish cluttered mess while mine are still flying 🤷♂
Most modern phones even 4 years old run better thanks to OS updates as they make it more optimized for the physical hardware on the device. While the video is correct in some aspects of new features slowing down phones. The optimization done alongside it makes the updates more of a positive than negative. Plus, most phones have more than enough power fit day to day tasks.
Which device have you experienced the biggest slow down with and what do you think caused it?

That’s definitely a possibility!

planned obsolescence
I like your channel so much 👍
Thank you!
my iPhone Xs Max is 6 years old running iOS 17.5 and it's still running well but I need to change the battery 🔋
Nice! Will you be doing the battery change yourself?

Interesting I will have to look into why that might be

iPhone 4s with iOS 8 and 9
Yes I had the 4s myself and remembering it getting particularly slow as it got old!
Oneplus 7 pro still running fast.
Glad to hear it!
