It’s funny to see some comments jabbing at the regular 6s when the 6s plus I have still works like it did the day I bought it. Nobody seems to really talk about the plus model of the 6s and how much better it seems to perform even with the updates over the years. It's weird that that is even an issue because Apples chips are very potent and iOS is an extremely limited and feature-lacking operational system that changes very little over time, even with degraded batteries the SOCs shouldn't have to draw too much power
If 🍎 doesn’t do that you can’t get those latest software updates like iOS 15 even if your phone is 6 years old like iPhone 6s and later,it will be like android, you can keep your software up to date for 1 year if 🍎 doesn’t do that. That’s not an excuse, they just come to interfere. And as Greg said you will get unexpected shutdown if 🍎 doesn’t slow down your iPhone or iPad,I experience it sometimes very rarely when I run heavy apps or games like Genshion impact on my surprisingly old iPad mini 2. That’s why I am planning to buy that iPad mini 6 which is coming this fall.
That is a physical problem. When the battery degrades, its internal resistance increases. Following Ohm‘s law, if the processor now draws a lot of power, the voltage of the battery drops below the point where it is able to satisfy the demand so the device shuts down.
Well yes they didn’t really say much about it when they should have, people shouldn’t be mad at them for slowing it down, if they’re going to be mad they should be mad about them not saying anything
Great video Sir!.. I get that Apple needs to do this.. but what is questionable is Apple made no efforts to explain or inform it's users.. that's a bad Apple..
they're just blowing smoke on peoples faces, the real reason is that they want you to buy new phones! Nvidia did this with their GPU's as well, every update would cause the older gpus to perform worse and worse, but nowadays even old ones get better with each upgrade after costumers called them out for this! Why did they do it? because they need to sell or they go bankrupt. that's why.
this is why I dont pay for a product that will be manipulated by its manufacturer. no matter what excuse they use and just because it makes sense doesnt mean I cant still see past the lie.
Oh my gosh for the last few days, my phone has been pretty slow l as well. Like widgetsmith was being laggy, me opening apps and swiping is delayed and stuff. which makes me have to restart my phone like 2 times a day. it thought it was just me. thanks for this video!

My old iPhone has all these problems. It was randomly shutting down at both high and low battery percentage and battery also was really bad, even though it was replaced it 2 times and nothing has changed, so recently I've replaced this 9 years old iPhone 6s with the new SE 2nd gen
This is not the only side to the story. My old EXTREMELY SLOW and laggy iphone has a battery at 82% of max capacity and it says it is already "supporting normal peak performance". Therefore, something else caused my old iphone to dramatically slow down after updating
I had an iPhone 6 and despite the processor getting throttled it still unexpectedly shut down The battery was absolute junk though and had never been replaced before so I guess that was to be expected
I mean paying apple to replace it is way more convenient if you replace the better yourself you want have water resistance anymore and you can damage it with a mistake way better to pay than running a risk and loosing a very good feature which is water resistance
Do not touch anything without permission. In reality, they are pushing you to buy a new one. In my case it backfired because I switch to android as soon as I noticed their nose stuck where it don't belong. Never going back.
Sorry Greg. I believe the same thing when battery gate was a thing expecting it to work like new. I replaced the battery of my iPhone 7 and it still didn’t work like new. Then after I bought my XR I replaced the battery again after 18 months of use, I don’t know what it is but it never works the same. Can anyone explain why they were able to shoot RUclips videos with the iPhone 7 but the camera now feels like a potato? Many would argue that we’re just feeling it because the newer phones are that much better. It sucks that Apple is doing this. The camera on my XR takes 30 seconds to open completely!
The actual problem is the software optimization: when you put a good processor in your phone, you don't want to come up with clever ideas to optimize the software.
I don’t know, bro… My iPad is dead because of this issue. It’s so slow, it takes me over 40 seconds just to open up my web browser… And I can’t update it to the OS where “peak performance” mode was added. That makes sense! When I charge my phone, I either put it on airplane mode or disconnect it from Internet connectivity and turn off Bluetooth connections. I always upgrade my phone every two or three years.
Its 100% to move others to upgrade like my brand new iphone is running ios 12 everything is brand new had nothing but network and overheating issues, i updated my software to ios 14 and it now runs reasonably well considering how bad it was to begin with, ill be sticking to android as they actually let you use the full potential of the hardware/software purchased
Still doesn’t explain why my old iPhone 6S Plus with 87% battery health (battery was replaced for $29 under that special program Apple had a few years back) is slower at launching apps that it did when it shipped with iOS 9. Even with iOS 12, it was faster than how it behaves with iOS 14. The Home app is very slow to launch on iOS 14 than iOS 12. Even with a full DFU restore and setup as a new phone (not restored from any backup) launching maps, Messages, Safari, Music, Home, etc is slower on iOS 14 compared to iOS 12. I know since my 6S Plus is running it and my mom’s old iPhone 6S is still on iOS 12. It may not be “intentional” but the stock apps shouldn’t be slowed down with new software updates. It’s not a huge deal since the iPhone 6S Plus is just used for music and RUclips when I’m charging my iPhone 11 Pro Max, but still annoying.
later IOS versions eat up more performance for more features, and newer apps also eat up more resources. and yes, even STOCK apps get updates with IOS. Its just that, at this point, the 6S isn't really cutting it. android phones don'r run into this problem casue... you replace a droid after 2 years, which is around the point battery and IRL performance would prop to around 85%...

Why dont they just slow it down when the battery reaches 40%? And if its plugged in, why not run at full power?
The sudden increase in power (while charging and slow performance when not ) will drastically affect its battery health.

@@thebravegallade731 I understand your argument, but my point is that Apple doesn’t optimize software and updates for older devices.
my xr already does a ton of heavy tasks and is usually doing heavy tasks, I’m going to upgrade to the iPhone 12 because my xr just isn’t holding up as much as I need it to. awesome video.
I got iPhone 8 is okay
Just replace the battery. This is well known by now
@@jimjamjon2285 I thought about doing that but I decided I wanted a 12 anyways, I have a MagSafe Duo that my dad didn’t want and I could use the 5G capabilities, the processing power, etc.
@@leatherbirkins Just wait 3 weeks until the 13 is available and buy the 13 for the exact same price as the 12. No one should be buying the iPhone 12 this close to the 13 launch
How is your xr not holding up when my 6s is perfectly fine.
Thank you for sharing this amazing info man, keep it up!
People are mad about apple trying make batteries last longer. The just don’t understand it
Yeah…
I'de take the faster performance over longer battery life....

Video suggestion: Why doesn’t the Apple pencil work on Iphone
