Did the RUclips algorythm skip your channel? I mean this review is better than 90% of all the other tablet reviews I've seen the last week (which is a lot). I'm sure you will do great on youtube! Keep up the amazing content :)
Your comment is helping to fix the algorithm 😁. Thank you so much I really appreciate your kind words. I'm happy I could help, I'll have more good stuff to come!
This is one of the most honest reviews I've ever watched. You nailed when you said you're an ambitious amateur. That makes me feel like I can do art too!
just finished watching like 8 other reviews of the cintiq 22 and a handful of xp pen tablets and this is by far the most down to earth, average user perspective I found. Really good, useful human review. I can always look up things like hardware specs and features but seeing them all in the hands of a normal person and your impressions was hugely helpful, thank you!
This video and your reviewing style are so much better than pretty much every other video I've seen reviewing Graphics Tablets, and I have watched a lot. Other reviewers seem to overly bloat the review and the message they are trying to get across gets more and more blurred. This video felt very straightforward, genuine, and factual to the everyday person wanting to do digital art. It was perfect and helped me make up my mind on which tablet to get, and I was very close to getting the Wacom 22 prior to this video and will now be going XP Pen. Thank you!
I don't know you, have not heard of you, and have never seen a video from you, but I immediately trust your judgement. The way you are blunt, straight to the point, and how you explain things makes this review one that I liked right away. I loved your little helper! So cute.
I hope you become internet famous! Enjoyed your blunt review! Not anyone would dare buy multiple tablets simultaneously and review them just to upgrade. I knew Wacom are so overpriced, and since I'm not rich, I'd be contented with saving up a Wacom One Pen Display with the Remote. I've seen lots of negative reviews from Huion and XP-Pen tablets, not denying that they have happy customers as well, but I wouldn't take the risk buying a less durable tablet with hard earned money. At least with Wacom, I know their drivers are stable, last longer and have less chances of busting up.
i had paid about 110$ for a medium size tablet of Huion, it's f*cked up at the 5th month that i used it. Lmao, Its pen was terrible and it couldn't connect with any drawing apps that i downloaded after nearly a year i bought it. From that day, i've never buy any stuffs of Huion anymore lol i switch to wacom with a small size and it still work pretty well 'til now. So i would reccomend every one like a starter drawing/artist, choose the one although it's overprice but it can stay with you like 5 or maybe 8 years somehow idk, it worths for that price
I have to say thank you so much! I've been googling for months on this and your review I just happened to find by accident and glad I did. I'm a hobby artist primarily sketch/charcoal/pastels and wanted to venture into the digital realm so I don't do it for a career or sell art and I was worried if I chose the wrong one it might deter me away from going into digital art. This short review gave me the straight answers I needed!!!
Thanks for the video. It's rare to see a head-to-head comparison on RUclips from someone who has actually used both products, not just running down a list of pros and cons from a spec sheet or reviews they've read.
YES! This is how reviews should be! Damn! Hearing the words "Do not" somehow removes the sting in my belly. Straight to the point. Been thinking of considering buying the Cintiq 22! And you confirmed it that I should not buy it. THANK YOU!
Really helpful review! Thanks for including little shots of your daughter. Reminds me of 33 years ago when my son was about 6 months old, holding him and trying to get work done on the computer. Cherish those memories.
😢 😢 😢 This hit me hard (in a good way). I can't bear to look at old photos because I feel like it was just yesterday we brought her home from the hospital, and now she's telling me she loves me to acquire more dessert.
Much appreciated, and happy to help! Also love hearing from a fellow dad who knows the struggle 😅. They suck you in the the cuteness and then you're trapped.
Never comment on videos but yours was so honest and relatable and saved so much bullshit from the other reviews I had to say well done and subscribed and liked fair play man
Thank you so much, this really means a lot to me. Glad to have you along for the ride, there's going to be more good stuff coming! I won't let you down 😁
God BLESS you sir, I love how direct you are. While going down the rabbit hole of reviewers, I started to lose track of what was what and it was honestly stressful. I'm starting school for animation this fall and was leaning towards the Cintiq 22 but it clearly isn't worth it. Now the question is whether or not I'm willing to sink thousands of dollars into a tablet that will no doubt last me a long ass time or one that will most likely last until my graduating year. Love your stuff dude, keep it up!
Happy I could help 😊 and thanks for your kind words. That's a tough one, trying to figure out what tools to get for school is challenging. Maybe you could consider a 16 inch tablet so that it's portable? I did a review of the Kamvas Pro 16 and I loved it, I was able to make really high quality art and it was more affordable. Best of both worlds! Good luck 😁
been spending hours looking at reviews just like you did, except your review is better than the rest. thank you for the honest opinion, and I love your humor. hope to see you review other products in the future! and yes, the baby was the star here :)
I agree with this comment or, I went through a similar cycle as you Taylor, started with a drawing pad, then xp pen pro display, and then a refurb Wacom 32and refurb ergo stand. I love the Wacom,it was speedy but no regrets except for not doing it sooner, but if I had I would not have seen the refurb section on wacoms site. The refurb price is what pushed me over the deciding point. I saved almost a grand by going refurb and I got it in 3days from waycom standard free shipping, so far themultitouch has been amazing for things other then drawing and sculpting, my kid loves it, the express remote I thought was junk but I really like it for zbrush and other apps, I stil, use the keyboard, but for cruising and certain phases of my creation the remote adds a nice balance to working on the screen. I have been in heaven. my xp pen now sits, its a smaller backup travel friendly screen, wish it had the multitouch like the Wacom. great video!! like the comment or said not a lot of really truly informative videos on this topic.
@@ChangeHere Thanks so much! I'm so glad you found this helpful. Was the refurbished Wacom basically the same as a new one? I saw that on the site, and it seemed like a great way to save money but I was a little nervous because you never know what you might end up with. It sounds like you're getting a lot of really good use out of it, so it was definitely the right purchase!
Appreciate the honesty, especially from an amateur artist perspective. The cintiq pro is so expensive because they surely don't sell a lot of them, and it's pretty much king of the hill technology. Their lower tier tablets being somewhat garbage is them getting some profit off that name - they've always done that but only recently have other companies stepped in and filled that void. From a professional artist's perspective, that $2k price tag of the pro is not an issue, that extra $900 you complain about burning is pretty much canceled out in a few weeks of work. I've had my last cintiq for 8 years, so if the new ones last even half that long and are still better than the competition, I'm not really worried about the price tag.
This is a great point, I love this perspective. If you're converting your art into money, that $900 is well worth the price. If you're a professional you're in that category of people where those slight differences can make a huge impact on your output. I'd love to be there someday 😁.
Exactly. I love my Wacoms, but I don't recommend any of the non-Pro Wacom lineup anymore: there's just no reason for it. Huion and XP-PEN are the new kings of that, and boy do they do it well for cheaper. As someone who first started around 2007, I'm so glad the days when Wacom was the only choice for art tablets are gone.
@@HipposHateWater Yup, I actually just ordered the Pro 24 the other day and it's definitely nothing I'd recommend to anyone. BUT if you're making a career out of your Art and tablet, I think you should be thinking of it as an investment and not something you bought. You should be generally okay paying more for quality. I 100 percent agree with his perspective too. My main factor in choosing it over the others was the 4K and the feel. Other tablets are finally getting the 4k and are actually getting to be not too far off in price so at that point I'll stick with Wacom lol
I've been in the same boat, checking out so many reviews and kinda getting nowhere. I had started to lean towards the xp-pen and this just confirms it, thank you! :)
Thank you! this is some legit high quality content. no frills and no bloating the video longer than it needs to be. thanks for helping me choose too. i've been erring and arring on whether that cintiq 22 was good or not, glad i saw this before taking the leap. Going to go with XP now. much love and i hope this video gets more views cause it's deserving.
That’s so great to hear this helped you out! This makes me quite happy 😊. I feel like I have to sit through a lot of power points at work that have a lot of extra “fills” so I figured I would try to spare my viewers that headache. Glad you like the style! Lots more good stuff to come.
i didnt look this video up but it was recommended, so i guess it's a good sign for your channel. pls keep doing your style of content, no bs but entertaining
I'm so happy this helped! You have a ton of really cool content on your channel, I hope your tablet helps you keep making great stuff! I think it's really cool I could help out such a high quality creator 😁.
I would have suggested buying the cintiq 16 Pro. Its MUCH cheaper than the 24 inch model and has the newest technology and the highest resolution screen which you may not use while drawing but you can still use the resolution to see the image as it would be as a finished product
when/if you get a tablet you should upload speed paints while reading the stories, i know as a personal fan id definitely watch that (of course you do what you want to do but its a cool idea i think)
This is a really nice change from all the typical reviews out there. Being a beginner artist myself, I found this review to be way more relatable. Thank you for this review 👍 I also found it really cute how you were trying to draw an outline of your baby's hand and how it looked like she was trying to eat the pen
Great reviews! I just would like to add my experience from December of just last year. My wife dropped a huge amount of coin on a brand new Cintiq 24 Pro because she knew I had always coveted one for years. Just wanted to report that it was a big wake up call. What a piece of garbage. Oh yeah,..it felt great with the Matte screen but immediately it was plagued with QC issues. I think many do not realize that Cintiqs are also made in China. The screen was not sealed properly at the upper right corner where the controls are and it would stick and randomly turn touch on and off etc. I would have to press really hard about 10 times before it would recognize any input. It was, to be blunt, an embarrassment as well as a big disappointment. I MEAN you could SEE the separation between the glass and the screen. I could push it down and it would stick for about 3 minutes and then pop out again. GREAT workmanship Wacom! NICE for $2500. Are you kidding me? I returned it and I have decided against purchasing ANY type of replacement.; ESPECIALLY another Wacom product. So as I approach a full year in December of 2021, I still have no desire to own a Wacom product. It was a hassle boxing that piece of nonsense back up and I'm stuck with an overpriced Wacom Display arm that cannot be used for anything else. That alone cost my wife over $300. What a rip off. At least she got her $2500 back. I'm sharing this to say that do NOT fall for the hype that the Wacom worshippers try to dish out. At the end of the day,..it is just a device like all of the others. It can be defective and it can break and have issues just like any other piece of tech out there today. You may get lucky and get a great one or you may not. That's all I'm saying. It's not a guarantee either way. These are made in the same places that most tech is made and so you get what you get. If I decide to buy any of these things,...I would likely just grab a 4K XP Pen or Huion. If it lasts 3-5 years, that's fine because at the pace technology advances, there will likely be something better out there anyway.
Oh geez really?!? Ugh, that is so annoying! Those keys in the upper right aren't something I mentioned in the review because I didn't really think about them, but now that I've used them more they drive me nuts-- I'm always accidentally pressing them and I almost never want to. It's funny you bring up the stand, my neck has been hurting lately so I went to look at a stand and I realized I the Cintiq pro isn't VESA mount compatible! Which is obviously a money grab to sell more stands. I do love using the Cintiq pro, but it sucks that you had such a bad experience 😕. Sending good vibes!
I totally agree. I have owned both and now have a XP-PEN Pro 22e and love it. Also I have recommended it to my students and many of them have purchased it also. They share my views of loving the tablet. I also must say this. XP-PEN support is top notch. They are fast to respond and when one of my students had an issue they were quick to work to get it resolved. Even to the point of sending a replacement tablet out, though the issue I do not believe was the tablet. Even if you are just starting out in digital art or graphics pick up one of there low end models for under $50.00. I have one I carry in my laptop bag to use when I am out. Good luck and good drawing.
Thank you! I'm glad you're on board with XP-Pen, I really did love the tablet. I didn't get to interact with their support, but it's so great to hear that you had a good experience -- I've definitely been hearing a mixed bag of reviews about support from different companies.
Thank you so much for making this video! Your honest review really helps! Also I love that you said all artists are worthy of a nice tablet, I needed to hear that. Hope you and your lovely family have a good day!
So happy I could help, thanks for the well wishes! It's so true, sometimes it's hard (for me at least) to justify getting something if I don't feel like I'm at a certain level, but that's all in your head. You deserve the best tools!
I was thinking about the Cintiq 22 HD as a budget Wacom solution but you just answered my question... really fast lol Thanks for putting this together, super helpful!
Man I really rarely comment on videos, but one thing needs to be said! This is an excellent and super honest and relatable video for normal people. I can't understand how your channel is still so small. Hoping for the best for you! Enjoyed watching the video a lot
This video was exactly what I have been looking for. Most folks I know use a Wacom but I heard so many good things about the XP Pen I had to find some unbiased reviews. The way you talk about the feel rather than just stats helps so much. This confirms what I suspected: Wacom is better but not enough to justify the price. And hey, at time of writing, the Artist 24 Pro is on sale for 25% off! Bargain!
Hilarious review. To paraphrase you, Taylor, I apparently hate saving money as I purchased the 32” Cintiq Touch (DTH3220) in March 2019. I previously owned the 24” and loved using it for the ten years I had it. Tragically after six months with the new 32” Cintiq, I started to see what looked like pixelation or fixed pattern noise that covered about 1/3 of the screen. I sent the display to Wacom and pleaded with them to replace it. Instead I was told they would repair it with a “refurbished display”. Needless to say I was not impressed with my brand new display getting a used part. Fast forward to April 2021 and I have again sent my display back to Wacom for the exact same issue! I’d be curious to know if you experience any pixel-related issues. Obviously, I sure hope not. And your skills are top-drawer.
Thanks a lot! And sorry about that, that's my inner jealousy at not buying the 32" myself coming out 😁. What??? That is insane! I haven't had to deal with their customer service, but that sounds like such a pain. Especially when so much of your hard earned money is at stake! Dumb question, but what display connection are you using? I've had really good luck with usb-c to usb-c. I haven't seen this issue yet, but I will definitely keep my eyes open. If it does come up, this RUclips channel is going to be dedicated to complaining about it, that I can assure you! Thanks for your support!
I have a Cintiq 16 and while I do love using it I also have a few rather negative things to say about Wacom lately. Especially in regards to the screen on the regular Cintiqs. They wear out like the regular Wacom tablets. Fast. After only 1 - 2 years I had that very smooth spot where I would usually draw and due to some minor surface scratching the tablet also had some strwaks of chromatic abberation. And they do NOT offer replaceable screen protectors. On surface that recieves mechanic wear, constantly. That is for me the biggest problem with the cheap cintiq line. After nearly 30 years of using Wacom products I am also ready to give one of their competitors a try. It's really good to hear from the perspective of someone who just bought all pen displays for the first time. Thanks. Hope you got a good price back for the ones you didn't use ^^
Man, I hope you know how much I appreciate this video. I've got into pixel art and remastering photos on photoshop. I've been looking at a few tablets these 3 are in my top 10 of things I'm narrowing down to purchase and you answered one of my big questions about the Pen Pro. I think I'm going to pull the trigger and get that one, because you guys are in such another level of me that, that tablet is all I'll ever need until I get good enough for a upgrade and by then they'll probably have something better. Thanks for making such a informative video and saving me money.
A fantastic review! You're such a lovely person and how you weighted your criticism is absolutely relatable to me. I wasn't even looking for any of these models and I still feel very informed, thanks for that! I hope all of you are doing good, if not, great!
broooo I'm really thankful for your review!! currently on the same page but cintiq pro is waaay over my budget so I was torn between cintiq 22 vs huion/xp pen 22-24 inch models so thank you for the comparison! I heard good things about xp pen 24 too, even pros in Japan use it so yeah I think I'm gonna go with xp pen or huion now!
Thank you for your review...... I was going nuts trying to figure out the same questions you had. I finally purchased the XP Pen Pro w bluetooth for my daughter for her birthday prior to watching your awesome video. Glad I made the right choice and took the blue pill!!! LOL : )
THANK YOU! Fellow parent and 'ambitious amateur' who was equally nonplussed by all the existing reviews. I also have had hands on the Wacoms at illustration conferences; I agree there felt like there was a pricing mismatch. My fellow art friends are "all-in" on Wacom and I still couldn't feel like it was worth it. PS. I use a matte screen protector on my iPad that should help with the 'pen on glass' feeling of the XP Pen. So, all in all, I think I will just keep waiting and using the iPad until there's better options out there. I personally hate that the bezel of the wacom is 3-4 inches of wasted desk space. Honestly hoping someone in the TV monitor market will see this niched gap and come fill it. Quickly.
Love hearing from a fellow parent! The struggle is real (I'm finding, now that the little one in that video is 1 🥺). There's definitely something to be said for the clout of the name "Wacom". I haven't been able to evaluate longevity since I've only had the tablets for a few months, but the Intuous S I had still runs great. I have an iPad too, and I totally agree that matt screen protector is a life saver. You almost can't even use the iPad when you first open it without that protector. I wish they made that for a bigger tablet, I would buy it immediately (maybe I could just paste a few on together 😅. The bezel takes up SO much space compared to a tablet without. I'm currently trying out the Huion Kamvas 24 plus pro, which has no bezels, and I didn't realize how much it annoyed me until they weren't there. Thanks for the comment!
with the xp pen sale bringing the pro 24 down to 600€ I've found myself looking at reviews about its general performance. Your review definitely was one of the more down-to-earth humanely feeling! Thanks for the video, even 2 years later it's still incredibly useful!
Tha k you so much for making this video! Watching this helped me slash out the cintiq 22 from my consideration list. I’ll still probably go try it out in a store, but I think I’m leaning toward some Huion ones I found videos on. Will go try the Huion ones in a store too and decide which one to get :)
This was the more honest review I have seen on a while, really, I was ALMOST going to get the Cintiq 22 and then started to see more and more good messages about XP-PEN Artist pro 24... awesomeness, and how it felt really as good as the Cintiq top dog 24 pro, but by far more affordable.
amazing video!! SUPER CUTE BABY! I'm still torn, I wish i had the balls to buy all 3 just to test LOL. I was really considering the 22 but now after this I'm considering just sending it and going for the pro 24.
Thank you! You know how when you drink a lot of coffee and suddenly everything seems possible? Basically what happened 😁. The pro 24 is the main one if used, and except for the lack of a good stand, I've loved it.
@@TaylorStine omg I love coffee LOL I totally understand, daily drinker here! I’m working on my own NFT collection right now and I’ve came a strangely far way drawing with my mouse which is surprisingly fine but I feel like to speed up my process and really use my skills to my best ability I feel like I should just get one asap ! before trying digital art I was mainly a painter but always felt discouraged because I’d never wanted to sell something I took so long to make if that makes sense? But with digital art/NFTs it’s just so much different! Digital art overall makes me feel more confident that I can be an artist for a living I guess haha
ha right?? Same! That makes sense to me -- if you pour so much effort into something you've made by hand, it's difficult to let it go. I feel the same way when I give away the pottery I make (which is terrible, but still). With NFTs, you can at least feel like you still have some ownership! You might even consider a non-display tablet -- the Wacom Intuous Pro I started using was really great and if you're already used to using a mouse it should be a pretty easy switch.
@@TaylorStine exactlyyyyy! right! it's cool knowing it exists in the metaverse instead of it only being a tangible item that could become damaged over time! I will definitely look into that!! I think that might be the most reasonable tablet to start with in my case then maybe later on I'll see if I want to upgrade!
I just returned my XP Pen tablet (same as the one in the video) after 2 months of use. Issues I had: 1.Express keys constantly resetting (once every 10-20 minutes) to factory settings 2.Express keys malfunctioning and spamming by themselves 3.Tablet doesn't work if it's not being set as a main display (you can use the pen but the cursos will be on your main monitor which defeats the purpose of a screen tablet) 4. Sometimes out of the blue the tablet would enter in sleep mode even if you're currently working on it. You can fix it ONLY by restarting your computer (turning on and off just the tablet doesn't work) These are all complaints I never heard from cintiq users. So I returned it and I'm going to save some money to get a cintiq, hope that will fix. Disclaimer: There are people that are not experiencing those problems at all, my friend has an xp pen pro 16 and is really happy with it. Maybe its just a compatibility issue with my pc, I don't know.
Ugh! that's so unfortunate -- this only cropped up 2 months after you got it? I haven't seen anything like that, but this is a really good thing to know! It's great that they let you return it -- hopefully you had a good customer service experience.
@@TaylorStine I'm from romania so I didn't interact with them but with the local store I bought it from. I paid a little extra to be able to return it in 2 months, seems like it paid off. However...I believe I bought an already defect product, hopefully they will fix it if they don't accept the return.
The 24 pro is actually around the price you mentioned for the non touch now. I am going for it, I want to see what it's like to draw on a big fancy screen. XD
this is THE review I've been looking for. God, I wasted so much time watching so much content from people who have good points but don't have the same "use case" in digital art as me, thus irrelevant, or just people who don't have good points and just needed content (and sponsor money) for RUclips channel stuff
@@TaylorStine oh I needed it for classes in my game art degree, ranging from animation and drawing classes to 3D modeling and etc, as well as hobby game development with my girlfriend. we're making a game about an otter living in a jungle forest full of waterslides 🌊🦦 and I ended up getting xp-pen pro 16
Taylor, Thank you! That was very helpful. Great presentation and great visuals. I'll get back to you with a "catch phrase" idea later. Again, thank you!
after using Wacom intuos and cintiq 13hd for years i was ready for and upgrade as far a the screen goes, i was ready to put that bill on my CC and after diving deep on the unboxing review work of youtube i decided to save my money and pull the trigger on the xp-pen 24 pro, i don not regret it, yes you can tell the built quality difference but as far as being able to work there is no difference, i do like the buttons one the side, is great for shortcuts. Xp-pen is incredible !
I totally agree, XP pen may not be as flashy or well known but they really get the job done. I'm glad your happy with your tablet! I think you made a great call, it's so hard to know until you've used it for a little while.
This was a great review. Professional artist here 🙋🏾♀️. I've been using the xp-pen artist 22e HD which I think now they call the XP-Pen 22 pro - for about 5 years but I'm looking to upgrade and was really curious to know if the wacom would be worth it. Prior to the xp-pen I used the Intuos Pro which was nice but drawing directly on the screen is soooo much nicer. Anyway, I actually really like xp-pen. And I think this review confirms a lot of things for me. My only qualm about the xp-pen that I currently use is the color matching - it displays brighter than it should and the adjustments aren't great - but again I think this is just the case with my older model. Anywho, from someone who uses xp-pen, even with the older model, I really like it and I'll stick with the company a while longer....unless Wacom has some kind of magical sale or something...then we'll see 😁😏
Thanks. I am looking for one to get for my wife and it is extremely rare to get a comparison of so many models and from someone who knows how to use them, and what to look for.
this review was really helpful and to the point! im a student planning on pursuing a career in professional art and im leaning more towards the cintiq pro 24 than the xp pen because of the 4k display and better feel, but my only concerns are the infamous amount of hardware and software issues with the cintiq 24 and the extra $700 for the stand which is crazy. i figure that if i have the extra money i should just throw it on the cintiq 24 and live with it since i'm going to need a good pen display in the future anyways, but I also want to wait a bit in case xp-pen or huion releases a 4k 24 display sometime soon. once again i really appreciate this combined review!!
Thank you for the kind words! I really think you can't go wrong with the Cintiq Pro, especially if you're a student just starting your art career. You'll keep it for a long time. One thing I would consider is, will you have a permanent desk? If not, you might consider a smaller tablet. I have a review of the Huion Kamvas Pro 16 coming out and if I were a student that may be the one I chose for the size and price (The Cintiq Pro also comes in a 16" option).
I'm also am ambitious amateur looking to upgrade from a no-screen tablet (which is... circa 2005, but ANYWAY) to a screen tablet. This was amazingly helpful to me as I tried to sort out what the heck would be the best fit for my skill/commitment level.
Thank you that was great! I have been a 3d artist for 15 or so years and have been using wacom this whole time only really because its what we grew up using. Never considered XP pen till today but everything im seeing and hearing from them sounds great! you just saved me a ton of cash :D
I'm glad it helped! Wow 15 years is a long time, I'd love to see your work 😀. When one company dominates the market it's so easy to overlook the others (I was the same way with Wacom for the longest time). Happy I could save you some hard earned cash!
This review was really helpful in making my decision on what tablet to buy and I appreciate your delivery style. Informative and honest but still funny. Suggestion: maybe your “catchphrase” could be a recurring joke about you not having a catchphrase?
I have the xp pen artist 22 E and actually love it better than my Wacom mobile studio pro 13''. I used to be a Wacom purist, but I could. get a much bigger tablet than I could with Wacom due to not wanting to bankrupt myself. Also your honesty, humor, and cute daughter earned a sub. Hi new friend.
Thank you! I had a tough time getting going today, and I needed to see this 😊. I just took a look at the specs for the 22 E, and that looks like a really great tablet. Based on my experience with the Artist display pro, I'm not surprised it can compete with Wacom. Glad you're enjoying it!
@@TaylorStine I'm glad I helped, :) This is a fantastic video and deserves all the love. I was actually, the only thing I hate about it is the cheap pen like you described after being used to the nice and sturdy Wacom ones lol. But they fixed a lot of the icky "bounce" it used to have! its a bit more firm now.
@@yaminogame7805 😊😊. I really wish they made a premium pen, even if it was $100 I would still probably buy it. Then it would really rival the Cintiq pro. Ha I'll send them an email and tell them that 😁.
I had the XP-Pen22r Pro for 2 and half years, and didn’t have any issues until a few weeks ago. The display suddenly had green vertical lines running along the entire screen. Messaged their support, and they couldn’t do anything about it so it’s basically dead. Had to use my Cintiq 13HD (almost 10+ years old) and it still worked with no issue. So after this I’ll be getting Wacom for the longer term investment
I wish I could measure this better in my reviews, since it's not the first time I've heard of it happening. I'm just going to keep using my Kamvas tablet until something bad happens, the I'm going to re-review / freak out. For now, everything is working well though.
The 22inch model is very old, I would have suggested buying the cintiq 16 Pro. Its MUCH cheaper than the 24 inch model and has the newest technology and the highest resolution screen which you may not use while drawing but you can still use the resolution to see the image as it would be as a finished product. I have just ordered the latest iteration of the Wacom 16 inch Pro. I also think the size is really good if using it over many hours as its not so large requiring a great deal of arm, hand and head movement while using.
Once I tried out the 16" Kamvas Pro, I realized I should have probably given the 16" Cintiq pro a go as well. The 16" size is really nice because you can actually have room on your desk for other stuff.
Great review, I trust this more than a lot of the other videos on RUclips, I was considering upgrading from my 13hd cintiq but I can't for the life of me decide what to get, I think Wacom is out of my price this time to be honest. I found your review when trying to get a comparison of the huion 24 and the xppen 24, but I'm not sure if 24 is a little big for me now, there seems to be a few 22 which might be a happy medium, but as you mentioned, I am hearing the 1080 resolution with those isn't enough.
Glad you liked it! Honestly I think the difference between the 24 and the 22 is probably small enough that you wouldn't notice over the long run. I've been using the Huion Kavmas Pro 24" 4K and I have been loving it. Even though the screen is the same size as the Cintiq Pro, it takes up so much less space on my desk because it doesn't have the extra bezels. You might consider that -- I've been using it for 9 months and while the screen doesn't feel quite as good as the Cintiq, I don't have any serious complaints.
i just purchased the EX-PEN 21.5 pro and i think it is suitable for my transition to digital art from sketchbooks and old fashion media. I m very much looking forward to learn how to use it and create stuff.
I defiantly enjoyed your overview of the products. I am getting into 3d sculpting and I need a decent Pen tablet and I was leaning towards 2020 HUION KAMVAS 22 Plus but now i might check the XP-PEN Artist24 Pro 23.8". I normally do vector art and hard surface modeling but this feels like is a good investment
Thanks for watching! I was the same way - modeling anything organic was terrifying for me (and in many ways still is) but I had decent hard surface skills. I haven't done a review of these yet, but if you're just getting in to 3d sculpting, you might really enjoy using a pen tablet like the Wacom Intuos. Using a non-display tablet actually feels pretty good when 3d sculpting (since your hand doesn't get in the way of trying to see your model) and it might save you some money. It can be hard to sculpt super intricate details without a screen, but I got a ton of value out of using just a pen tablet.
@@TaylorStine Nice. I got a cheap tablet but I kind of need a screen when I draw or do an over sketch. I will sub to see your personal progress too. Good luck buddy!
I did read however that Xp pen and Huion develop significant scratches on the surface over time. Vs Wacom which ... does not seem to have this problem across most of its models. Since this was a recent use video I wanted to share this detail I have read overall from consumers comparing them who have used them long term.
I do have some scuffs (not necessarily scratches) on my Kamvas pro, but I only ever see them when the screen is off (and they're pretty light at that). Once I turn the screen on I can't see them at all. You're right, that I haven't noticed any scratches on the Cintiq (but I'll have to double check)
Haha yes I had exactly same thought. I read your reply after I just wrote mine haha I had same week wasted time videos for a product
concur
Keep it up. Subscribed! Loved your review, also I love that your child is featured in this video 😋 as a father myself, I approve hahaha
I agree
It’s tragic this doesn’t have more views.
Bro, that first wholesome shot of you and your baby on the tablet put the biggest grin on my face. Thanks for the reviews
I appreciate your honesty, your simplicity, and the fact you analised the FEEL, nor specs. That`s the ultimate information we need. Thanks, man!
Happy to help!
This is one of the most honest reviews I've ever watched. You nailed when you said you're an ambitious amateur. That makes me feel like I can do art too!
Glad you found it helpful! Being an amateur is the best because no one expects too much from you, and I fit right into that mold 😄.
just finished watching like 8 other reviews of the cintiq 22 and a handful of xp pen tablets and this is by far the most down to earth, average user perspective I found. Really good, useful human review. I can always look up things like hardware specs and features but seeing them all in the hands of a normal person and your impressions was hugely helpful, thank you!
This is exactly what I was hoping for, I'm so happy you find it useful. Thanks for watching!
@@TaylorStine absolutely! I ended up getting the XP pen 24 pro and have been loving it! Thanks again :)
Thank you!
This meant a lot to me, thanks so much for saying this! I'm so happy I could help.
Dad: Look what a nice 100€+ Wacom pen daddy got
Baby: Great let me shove it in my mouth to confirm
🤣🤣 luckily for the pen, she didn't have any teeth yet. High quality parenting right there!
Best review I've seen on ANYTHING in a long time. Straight up no BS, no "influencer" fake sugar coating, just the down to earth.
I don't know you, have not heard of you, and have never seen a video from you, but I immediately trust your judgement. The way you are blunt, straight to the point, and how you explain things makes this review one that I liked right away. I loved your little helper! So cute.
Thank you for this! I really appreciate it. She's getting to be a big helper fast, but hopefully she will make some future appearances!
THANK YOU!
I'm glad I could help 😃
Really helpful review! Thanks for including little shots of your daughter. Reminds me of 33 years ago when my son was about 6 months old, holding him and trying to get work done on the computer. Cherish those memories.
😢 😢 😢 This hit me hard (in a good way). I can't bear to look at old photos because I feel like it was just yesterday we brought her home from the hospital, and now she's telling me she loves me to acquire more dessert.
Bro, THANK YOU! This was SO freaking helpful and exactly the type of review I was looking for. Cute kiddo (fellow dad here) and great personality! :)
I won't let you down 😁
This is one of the best and honest reviews I ever seen. You reviewed the exact tables I wanted to test out. Thank you so much.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it 😍
God BLESS you sir, I love how direct you are.
Good luck 😁
The most honest opinion from all of the video reviews I've watched. Nice job!
Thank you! 🙏🙏
been spending hours looking at reviews just like you did, except your review is better than the rest. thank you for the honest opinion, and I love your humor. hope to see you review other products in the future!
and yes, the baby was the star here :)
incredibly straightforward and very helpful review, finally not just another review singing praises for Wacom the lord and savior of artists. Love it
Thank you 😊! I'm a fan of questioning the big brands, you never know what they might use their name to get away with.
Thank you so much, Taylor Stine!! This was so easy to follow and massively helpful. THANK YOU!!!
Very helpful video. Also it's cute seeing how supportive your wife and daughter are of your art career! Keep up the good work!!
Other tablets are finally getting the 4k and are actually getting to be not too far off in price so at that point I'll stick with Wacom lol
the new cintiqs dont last that long, just google 24 pro issues and see how many old timers using old 24 hate the new 24
I've been in the same boat, checking out so many reviews and kinda getting nowhere.
Thank you! this made me smlie :)
Great review! Trying to decide which one to buy and this helped a lot. Thanks!
I'm so happy this helped! You have a ton of really cool content on your channel, I hope your tablet helps you keep making great stuff! I think it's really cool I could help out such a high quality creator 😁.
@@TaylorStine I appreciate that!
Thank you for buying all of them and giving an honest review. Helped me a lot on deciding which tablet to buy.
This is a really nice change from all the typical reviews out there. Being a beginner artist myself, I found this review to be way more relatable. Thank you for this review 👍
I also found it really cute how you were trying to draw an outline of your baby's hand and how it looked like she was trying to eat the pen
I think I fell in love with you moment you throw away the wacom remote 😂 Thank you for a great review
😁 I'm glad you enjoyed it!
"Wacom has a touch version if you hate having money" hahah that line was perfect. Great succint review
😁💸 thank you!
I was thinking about the Cintiq 22 HD as a budget Wacom solution but you just answered my question... really fast lol
Thanks for putting this together, super helpful!
No problem! Love your avatar 👍
This is the most underrated review on RUclips in terms of tablets!
Thank you sir! Love your channel btw 🙂
Man I really rarely comment on videos, but one thing needs to be said! This is an excellent and super honest and relatable video for normal people. I can't understand how your channel is still so small. Hoping for the best for you! Enjoyed watching the video a lot
I really appreciate this! That was pretty much my entire goal for my videos so it makes me so happy to hear you say that. More good stuff to come!
Awesome review! I am trying to decide on the XP.
Thanks! It's a nice tablet, I've been using the Huion 24 4K and have been really enjoying it too.
Thank you, Hopefully picking up my Xp Pen Pro 24 tomorrow. =)
Great no-BS review. A lot more informative than other reviews of the same products.
I have to watch a lot of presentations at work that have a ton of fluff, so I figured I would try to spare my viewers the same torture 😁
This was a great review and I truly appreciate you doing it. All the best!
Happy I could help! Pixel art is like magic to me -- I don't know how you do it, but I think it's so cool. Are you doing that for game development?
A fantastic review! You're such a lovely person and how you weighted your criticism is absolutely relatable to me.
I wasn't even looking for any of these models and I still feel very informed, thanks for that! I hope all of you are doing good, if not, great!
I really appreciate this! I'm so happy you enjoyed it. We're hanging in there 😅
Dude...you saved my life. I have the xppen 22 and wanted to upgrade. I wanna get the Artist Pro 24
Glad I could help!
@@TaylorStine I got it! Love it!!!! ❤️
I literally got the Cintiq Pro 22 yesterday, and the pixelated screen was really noticable. I totally agree. I'll prob return it and get the XP-Pen
Update - I got the Huion Kamvas 16. Very happy with it. Works amazingly.
Hi! Did you get the 2021 kamvas 16? Or the newer 2022 one
Nice job on the comparison-well done!
broooo I'm really thankful for your review!! currently on the same page but cintiq pro is waaay over my budget so I was torn between cintiq 22 vs huion/xp pen 22-24 inch models so thank you for the comparison! I heard good things about xp pen 24 too, even pros in Japan use it so yeah I think I'm gonna go with xp pen or huion now!
That's a great choice, I really loved the XP Pen. I might have to give the Huion a try.
Thank you for your review...... I was going nuts trying to figure out the same questions you had.
I finally purchased the XP Pen Pro w bluetooth for my daughter for her birthday prior to watching your awesome video. Glad I made the right choice and took the blue pill!!! LOL : )
This makes me happy to hear, I'm so glad I could help. All the best to you and your daughter!
Honestly the best review ive seen. Im really glad i found this.
Finally another fellow art dad review. Thank you sir you helped me alot!
with the xp pen sale bringing the pro 24 down to 600€ I've found myself looking at reviews about its general performance.
Glad you found this helpful! I hope your search goes well 😀.
So glad I could help! Thanks for watching, I really appreciate it.
amazing video!!
Issues I had:
1.Express keys constantly resetting (once every 10-20 minutes) to factory settings
2.Express keys malfunctioning and spamming by themselves
3.Tablet doesn't work if it's not being set as a main display (you can use the pen but the cursos will be on your main monitor which defeats the purpose of a screen tablet)
4. Sometimes out of the blue the tablet would enter in sleep mode even if you're currently working on it. You can fix it ONLY by restarting your computer (turning on and off just the tablet doesn't work)
These are all complaints I never heard from cintiq users.
XD
Phenomenal video straight to the point..i was in a rabbit hole on youtube but you did a clear comparison
this is THE review I've been looking for. God, I wasted so much time watching so much content from people who have good points but don't have the same "use case" in digital art as me, thus irrelevant, or just people who don't have good points and just needed content (and sponsor money) for RUclips channel stuff
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! What sort of digital art are you working on out of curiosity?
@@TaylorStine oh I needed it for classes in my game art degree, ranging from animation and drawing classes to 3D modeling and etc, as well as hobby game development with my girlfriend. we're making a game about an otter living in a jungle forest full of waterslides 🌊🦦 and I ended up getting xp-pen pro 16
Taylor, Thank you! That was very helpful. Great presentation and great visuals.
I'll get back to you with a "catch phrase" idea later. Again, thank you!
Bro I’m so glad I came across this vid. Was just about to cop that regular Wacom 22. Going with the XP Pen instead. Thanks.
after using Wacom intuos and cintiq 13hd for years i was ready for and upgrade as far a the screen goes, i was ready to put that bill on my CC and after diving deep on the unboxing review work of youtube i decided to save my money and pull the trigger on the xp-pen 24 pro, i don not regret it, yes you can tell the built quality difference but as far as being able to work there is no difference, i do like the buttons one the side, is great for shortcuts. Xp-pen is incredible !
I totally agree, XP pen may not be as flashy or well known but they really get the job done. I'm glad your happy with your tablet! I think you made a great call, it's so hard to know until you've used it for a little while.
This is an amazing review, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Anywho, from someone who uses xp-pen, even with the older model, I really like it and I'll stick with the company a while longer....unless Wacom has some kind of magical sale or something...then we'll see 😁😏
Thank you!!! Subscribed, you deserve subscribers!
😀 Much appreciated! Thanks for the kind words.
Thanks. I am looking for one to get for my wife and it is extremely rare to get a comparison of so many models and from someone who knows how to use them, and what to look for.
Happy to help!
Appreciate this man! Answered so many questions for me
Glad I could help!
"I have a credit card"
Lol, famous last words.
Credit card debt is my love language.
Thanks a lot! Almost bought Cintiq 22 before watching this.
Happy to help!
this review was really helpful and to the point! im a student planning on pursuing a career in professional art and im leaning more towards the cintiq pro 24 than the xp pen because of the 4k display and better feel, but my only concerns are the infamous amount of hardware and software issues with the cintiq 24 and the extra $700 for the stand which is crazy. i figure that if i have the extra money i should just throw it on the cintiq 24 and live with it since i'm going to need a good pen display in the future anyways, but I also want to wait a bit in case xp-pen or huion releases a 4k 24 display sometime soon. once again i really appreciate this combined review!!
It's not an easy journey by any stretch. I'm glad I could help you along 😀
Thank you for the very helpful review. Great quality content and you’ve helped us make a decision. Thank you!
This review was really helpful in making my decision on what tablet to buy and I appreciate your delivery style. Informative and honest but still funny.
Suggestion: maybe your “catchphrase” could be a recurring joke about you not having a catchphrase?
Thank you! You know what... I kind of love that idea 😄. I might do just that in my next video.
Great work and effort by you. Thanks so much
So happy you enjoyed!
Hi Taylor, How about the Huion Kamvas 24 pro? Can you also do a comparison between Huion vs XP-Pen? Thanks a lot.
My Kamvas 24 pro just arrived yesterday 😁 stay tuned!
have you tried the x3 chip pen on the XP-PEN 16 PRO? Would love to see a pen comparison vs Wacom
Not yet, but I'll check it out!
Thank you friend...!, You compare very well. That, It's my problem. I hesitate between XP Pen 24 and Cintiq 22.
Happy to help, thanks for watching!
Hey thanks, I just saved 1200 bucks, almost bought the Wacom. Least I can do is give a like.
Well done! I greatly appreciate your perspectives. I'll likely pick up the XP PEN.
Happy I could help!
You might consider that -- I've been using it for 9 months and while the screen doesn't feel quite as good as the Cintiq, I don't have any serious complaints.
man you nailed it thank you for buying them for making this video
dude ily thanks for the real ass review without all the jarring spec stuff.
I like it simple and to the point too 😁, thanks so much!
Great review and great sense of humor. Thanks!
I was thinking of buying a drawing tablet too. This video was recommended to me. Definitely going to check the XP-pen.
So awesome to hear that this was able to help! And I’m glad it was recommended ☺️. Thanks for watching!
i just purchased the EX-PEN 21.5 pro and i think it is suitable for my transition to digital art from sketchbooks and old fashion media.
Thank you so much for this man, really appreciate your hard work!
Thanks man. Straight to the point. 🔥🔥
Best review ever - super honest!
I appreciate that!
only 1.5 min in and you've described exactly what I've gone through the last few years!
⌛ = 💰 glad I could save you some!
