I JUST got my Cintiq Pro a few hours ago (I went for the big bamba 32!) Refreshing to see your thoughts after six months, I'm feeling it in my back already!! But oh man it feels like drawing on silk! I freaking love it!! Also your daughter is adorable!!! She stole the show😄
I bet that 32" feels glorious! I know right, doesn't the pen feel so good on the screen? I would say like butter, but silk is better since my baby has smeared butter on my tablet and it didn't feel great. Thanks so much! She is just starting to learn to manipulate people, so being a dad is getting interesting 😁
I've got the 24 inch touch version, and really love it. However, I had the same back pain issue so I bought an Ergotron LX and the Wacom Vesa adapter and it makes ALL the difference posture wise. If you're thinking about going the same route be careful which arm you get as the 32 is a beast in weight terms, so you might want to look at the Ergotron HX arm as I'm not sure if the LX would hold the 32 well enough.
Is the Ergotron pretty stable for you? I actually just bought a Huion stand and attached it to the Cintiq Pro VESA amount 😁. I usually crank my desk up really high and that has sort of been working.
@@TaylorStine Hi, Taylor, I just love your channel, and REALLY love your art! I have to say that the LX is a really good stand, but I would be lying if I said there isn't some wobble in it. Unfortunately, with a heavy weight at the end of the arm that's just physics, and no getting away from that. However, I have another 24 inch monitor mounted on a cheap copy of the Ergotron and I would DEFINITELY always recommend to spend the extra cash and go for the Ergotron, or a similar brand with the same reputation for quality. I think with even a good monitor arm, such as Ergotron, you always have to take into account whether you naturally draw with a light hand, or with a heavier touch. If you're light handed I think the Ergotron would be just fine. If you have a bit of a heavier hand, you might find that the wobble/bounce (even though it is slight) might be off putting. However, you can tighten up the Ergotron to partially offset that bounce. If I had the 32 inch Cintiq Pro I think I would either look into an arm that can take more weight (and would likely cost more), or look for a rigid stand. I saw on Aaron Blaises channel that he made a wooden one for his 32 inch Cintiq pro and that looks great. Hope that helps!
So, about the loud fans of the Cintiq Pro 24, if you go into “advanced display settings” you can actually fix the loud fan noise by setting the fans to “Low speed”, also great video btw, keep up!
After 4 years I finally took the plunge to buy the Flex Arm. I could have went for the ergotron or other cheaper versions but I wasn't sure if they were as good as the Wacom version. There are not many reviews.
Have you considered actually buying the vesa adaptor? it might help a lot with the back pain. About the fan noise, I believe there's an option in the driver software that you can make it less noisy, that they added because of the complaints. I don't own a wacom tho i just watch a lot of videos.
I'm definitely going to buy the VESA adaptor. They actually released that adaptor as I was editing this video, so I had to cut out this whole rant I had about how they don't offer any affordable stands 🙃. I had no idea about the noise reduction, but that sounds awesome! I'm going to give that a try -- right now I'm trying out the Kamvas Pro 4K and if I re-install the Cintiq Pro drivers, my computer will explode. So it's on my todo list. Thanks!
I just got my cintiq pro 16 yesterday! I absolutely love it so far and I absolutely loved your reviews about your tablet reviews which helped me decide which one to get. It was between the XP-PEN and Wacom but since I'm going into illustration I figured I would definitely use it a lot and the price would be worth it in the long haul. I also love your humour :) thanks so much for the reviews you make, they really helped me!
Great choice! I'm happy I could help out. Are you doing more digital painting? That's one area I want to explore more since I've done mostly drawing and sketching. I feel like for anything with illustration, the Cintiq would be really good.
Yeah this is a good call -- the Kamvas Pro 24 I'm using has a stand and I'm starting to notice that even with a stand I still feel like I need the tablet a little raised up from the desk. I could see a monitor arm as the way to go.
I bought the Wacom official stand for my 24 Cintiq Pro and wasn't too keen, a case of buyers regret! I then bought the Wacom vesa mount, and an Ergotron LX tall pole arm. The Ergotron, at least for my uses, is WAY superior to the Wacom stand. Not that the Wacom stand is bad, it's built like an absolute tank and you definitely feel the quality, but I just much prefer an arm to a stand.
I just saw a video recently where Wacom published a firmware update where you can set the fan to always run at low speed. Check and see if you have it, its under the display options in the driver.
Thank you! It's pretty much my only goal to make this really straightforward, so hold me to it. It's on my list to do - I took an art class recently where the instructor only used a pen tablet, and ever since I've been really curious if the screen is even necessary...
Taylor Stine hows it going is the Wacom 24 pro better then Huion 24 pro im debating on which one to get , i been using the wacom intous pro but want to upgrade to screen tablet. need to step it up, but yea i herd perople having issues with wacom drivers i was about to order it but still trying to decide, is the wacom 24 pro a newer version then the 27 inch? well get at me when you get a minute,, i will be suing it with photoshop ,zbrush and Maya.
I just posted a review of the Kamvas Pro 24" 4K that might help! The tl;dr is that the Kamvas Pro screen doesn't feel as good as the Cintiq Pro, but I've gotten used to the Kavmas after using it for so long and I'm probably not going to switch back to the Cintiq in the near future.
You described the fan noise problem very well. It's not *that* loud when it's on but when it stops, aye, you feel like all the tension just left the room. I had 2 24's and a 32 and they all had pretty much the same fan noise issue and I could never run the display bright enough (this is AFTER the update that allowed "low" fan speed option btw) one of the 24's also had a high pitched whine from one of the fans - sounded like tinnitus, that was really nice to sit next to!
Like permanently? I would get a high quality cable, and try the various options they have - HDMI, DisplayPort, and USB-C. Here are the cables I use: HDMI: a.co/d/dTF1puk USB-C: a.co/d/i60lX8P DisplayPort: (I can't find it for some reason, try this - a.co/d/bEnJlFm)
With the Huion I've had no problems. The XP Pen I haven't been using so can't say for sure, but it still works well if I plug it all in. If you're not sure, I would say consider the Huion, it's a pretty good value.
My real question is touch or no touch? The price difference is considerable and I would think Touch is an asset, but the reviews I've seen all say the Touch is a bit buggy...
At first I thought touch was a waste of money, but I've been using my iPad to draw more and more (since I don't get the free time to sit at my desk much) and using your hands to move around the canvas is sort of convenient. For this size tablet, I'm not sure it makes a huge difference though to be honest. Having to press a button before you drag the pen isn't really a big deal because you're going to have one hand on a keyboard (or remote) most of the time anways. Touch is probably a pretty nifty feature and I see why it's convenient, but I would bet if you didn't get the touch version you probably wouldn't miss it.
You know what I have to admit, at first I thought it was stupid and never used it (because I always preferred to use the keyboard). But just recently I've been using it more and I actually do like it. I have a 65% keyboard so it fits nicely next to the tablet while I'm using it, but even still the remote is sort of handy once you map out the keys you want. For sculpting though (in Zbrush) I still use the keyboard -- I just haven't taken the time to map out all of the brush hotkeys, and most of those shortcuts I can do on just the left side of the keyboard, unlike Photoshop which requires me to use both sides.
@@TaylorStine thanks for replying. I've been considering making the financial jump to pen display. You're the first video I've seen where they did an update after using the product. Ah, okay so I actually have had the exact same thoughts, and I ended up buying an iPad. And to be honest, I don't really ever use it. When I draw I'm almost always sitting at my desk, and from my experience the pen tablets all feel better than the iPad. Sometimes I draw when I'm "on the go" but not often. I've been using the new Kamvas Pro 24 4k tablet for a couple weeks now to try to test exactly what you're talking about. So far I do think the Cintiq Pro does feel really good, but honestly some people might not even notice the difference. I haven't really been using the XP-Pen as much as the Kamvas as my alternative to the Cintiq, but in my past reviews I found the quality of the XP-Pen roughly equal to the Huion (but I should probably re-evaluate with one of their newer tablets). It's so tricky when there's so much money involved, but don't worry, we'll get to the bottom of this 😀
Are there line lags during fast movements? I do have an iPad (Pro 12.9) and I haven't noticed any difference between drawing on the iPad and drawing on any of the display tablets I've used. It's probably because I haven't used the iPad as much, but I prefer drawing on the bigger display tablet (the pen feels a little better and I like having the extra space). I haven't noticed any lag. Honestly, I'm going to go out on a limb and say I doubt you will be disappointed with a bigger display tablet especially if you spend a lot of time drawing at your desk. I actually don't really use my iPad a lot because I'm always working at my desk. I think you should go for it!

I really enjoy watching your reviews. It has been hard for me to get the right pen tablet. I have a Wacom one at the moment and after using it for several months I find that it is lacking in areas. Having a bigger work space would be nice and I am creating digital art for about 5 hours or more a day. I mostly make gaming maps and I am finding it hard to get those fine details with the Wacom one. Out of the ones you have reviewed would you suggest one over another for this amount of work and detail? I love the work you do! I look forward to more posts.
I really appreciate that 😁. That's pretty close to my heart because I do a ton of game related art (and programming when I have to). Honestly having the bigger tablet space has been huge for me because I'm not too naturally gifted at drawing. I've seen people do amazing things with smaller tablets or even non-display tablets, but I need all the help I can get. So honestly (and this is kind of a cop-out answer) but if you're cranking out 5 hours a day of detailed work like that you should probably go and treat yourself to one of the Cintiq Pros. I've been test driving a Huion Kamvas Pro 24" and it has been really good, but it's not much cheaper than the Cintiq Pro.
@@TaylorStine Thank you and I ordered the Cintiq pro 24 and it has been great! You were right about that. it is easier to work for several hours with the 24 pro. I am able to see so much more and everything is easier to use. I work with the Clip Studio Paint, Inkarnate map maker, Adobe and some Gimp. It really makes things a lot smoother. I am trying to figure out what set up is best as I am right handed. I was worried that my graphics card might not like it, but to my surprise they work great together unlike the Wacom one. My graphics hard was not friendly with it and would black screen me at times. I would like to show you some of my maps and get an outside opinion if that is ok? Just let me know how. Great videos and I super appreciate your honesty!

For sure, send me an email. Glad to help!
Great video! I just posted a similar review(ish) video. Let me know if you would be up for a possible collab. I think we are kind of running a parallel brand/business. My kids are all older now but I loved featuring them in videos.
Thank you! For sure just send me an email from the link on my channel.
