I'm honestly a massive simp for the ARC-170. Aggressive recon is the name of the game if you can use it right. Shout out to anyone else that played the republic mod for Empire at War. I feel like the AT-TE was done dirty in the clone wars. Almost every walker was blown up in the same episode it was shown in. (Only exception I can think of from the top of my head was Anekin's use of them as boarding vehicles and deployment in the asteroid belt). Kinda wanted to hear about the Juggernaut too.
The ultimate collection of the Republics ground vehicles. Now we have the full archives together in one video. Love absolutely all of the major, and even many of the lesser known, Republic vehicles.
In the case of the TX-130, speed and mobility can be more important than having heavy armor, but not in all cases like in a crowded environment for example.
A Victory, two Venator flanking it, three gunship variant Acclimators underneath for protection, and a varied array of Acclimator variants for starfighter and troop transport in a V formation consisting of 7 ships would be a very good setup in my opinion. Add some point defense corvettes as well for added protection. You could also send the Acclimators in as a way to soften up the target before coming in with the bigger ships to finish the job as the Acclimators are faster.
The Acclamator seems like the "dwarves" of starship design. It was small, sturdy, hard hitting and while not the best at anything, you could count on it to put in all of its effort to get the job done, and Force have mercy on anyone who underestimated a force of them under a competent commander.
I'm so sad that the TX-130 Republic Tank never made it to the Clone Wars show. It was such an awesome tank to use in OG Battlefront. OP, even. Instead we had to see countless slow-moving AT-TEs get their shit kicked in.
Ok so I'm going to burst your bubble on the Venator being more crew intensive...so a Nimitz class carrier has a full compliment of 5680 crew, 3200 to maintain ship operations and another 2480 to maintain full flight operations...now a Nimitz can carry and operate up to 130 F/A-18 Super Hornets of the E, F and the EA-18G Growler varients...HOWEVER a typical carrier of a fully mixed air wing can operate 85-90 mixed aircraft of all types. Another caveat is that typical air wings on a carrier currently operate 64 aircraft...so you do the math. The Venator is actually undermanned for the over 400 starfighters it can carry.
AT-TE and LAAT are some of my absolute favourite scifi vehicle designs ever. I know the obvious weaknesses of both, but they'd technically still be functional and useful. And they look so gd cool.
I'm convinced that the designers actually observed true blue military vehicles when making the LAAT and AT-TE. Seeing as those two are the only semi-senible vehicles in all of Star Wars
I disagree, at least for the AT-TE. There are so many design flaws that they wouldn’t be useful. That said, Star Wars is very good at creating the illusion of a realistic vehicle, with all the paneling and so on. And I think that it’s one of SW’s greatest strengths, they are very good at making a believable world.
I honestly don't see many weaknesses in them. The only problems I see with the At-te is gutting some storage racks in the back to put in some shields and perhaps two small quad laser cannons (like on the T2 B) on the top and the bottom in the middle to act as AA (anti aircraft) and AP (anti personnel), All the LAAT needs is some shields. Really it's hard to improve upon good designs.
@@PTillA-kf7rq My guy, the gunner position is entirely exposed to small arms fire, the driver and spotter are encased in what amounts to a glass box welded in front of the tank, there is no tank commander, and way too many gunners (difficult to coordinate even WITH a tank commander). While the design looks very cool, and indeed fulfills that role flawlessly, looking at the AT-TE from a practical perspective, even ignoring the flaws inherent to a walker design, leaves the impression of a design that would be woefully inadequate to designs of the inter-war. That said, SW also came up with the idea of effectively bolting treads to the in universe equivalent of a zero and calling it a tank, so its competition isn't exactly strong.
This is great, I can't wait to see the other volumes you release! As a kid I always loved going to the library and checking out the star wars books that had all the diagrams and info on all of the weapons, droids, starships, etc.

I have no doubt that any military that was actually COMPETENT would never throw away the Venators.
Might have modified them to be designated carriers rather than capital ships but the design is great and with proper support the weaker defences that dorsal hanger created would be properly protected Plus even with that thing taking up room it actually had ducking point defenders systems making it far superior to the ISD for the civil war style fighting
Not really the biggest Star Wars vehicle nerd, so I doubt I can add much with my comment, but there is one thing I know for absolute certainty, regardless of the type of vehicle, Star Wars vehicles are always cool. :)
