Freaking love the old republic timeline. Honestly I wish there was more content from this time since there is so much story potential
I doubt we'd ever see the Rakata in Disney cannon.
They'd be a little bit too violent, especially when they used force sensitive beings as fuel for their starships.
@@twistedyogert that and they were notorious cannibals/consumers of other sentient beings cause they felt like it
If Disney has anything to do with it dont get ur Hope's up
@@twistedyogert Disney star wars is too lighthearted family friendly and watered down

I love how the republic randomly just had a war with dragons
It breaks up the monotony a bit. It can't always be space wizards and laser swords

That is gonna be sick!
You guys are the Magellan TV of the Star Wars universe.
Sir yes Sir!
Imagine having all this massively significant history... and then basing your calendar on Yavin... a short battle with a few dozen ships. Meanwhile other battles in history involved millions and wiped away whole star clusters... I love it.
The Yavin time isn’t a in universe thing just something for viewers to know what’s going on
@@Eli-akad it was a joke, a bit of fun. I know its not an in universe thing.
@@Stimm002 well I mean we’ve lost hundreds of millions in a century yet our calendar is marked by the death of Jesus, not the end of World War Two for some reason.
Even in universe I *could* see them adopting it after Return of the Jedi, with them viewing Yavin as the turning point and when the treasured Republic finally could return, with the largest swathing empire in history being toppled.
However I could also see Operation Knightfall and/or the end of the Clone Wars as being significant enough for the calendar to be based around as well. Operation Knightfall had the most significant religion in galactic history ended over night, and in that same night, the end of the longest republic in history, and the rise of a new empire. The end of the clone wars could also fit as it was not only the first galactic war in a thousand years, it was on a scale almost inconceivable due to it causing a Civil War or at least tensions on almost every inhabited planet, making it larger than any galactic war between two armies could ever be. It was a battle of the culture and viewpoint of the galaxy, and it's end changed everything too.
Sorry for the long post hahaha I just thought your comment was really interesting to think about, what events could be significant enough to have a calendar based around it in universe
Hey I’ve got some really great news to share with you, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on a cross and resurrected on the third day so you may all have eternal life. If you believe and repent of your sins and put your faith and trust in Him as you would a parachute jumping off a plane at 25000 feet up in the air, He will give you eternal life in heaven as a free gift and I promise you, He will change your life forever as He did mine. He is the ONLY way to heaven and He loves you all. Please think deeply about this with urgency because this is your eternal life and soul, you don’t know when you could die, meaning you could die at any moment, so please consider this with all your heart. If anyone tells you that Jesus isn’t the only way, they are lying to you and they don’t care about your future.
as a guy who’s a geek for canon lore, Man, Legends Republic is amazing! So much detail and depth (and maybe a few war crimes) it’s mind boggling. I also adore the Old Republic, maybe because the Republic trooper armor is just plain badass of course.
Old Republic trooper armor is some of my favorite too. Tied with all the mando and mando inspired armor (especially the clone commandos)

So much lore lost in the Disney reset :( We need to bring back as much as we can. Disney canon can't compete
EU lore don't fit well with Disney canon
@@alsimmonshellspawn6021 guess one of them needs to go. I know which one I'd personally pick/have as my headcanon.
You never had it. George never considered EU canon and would no have let it be
@Lumina Aemor yes he did considered the EU canon there's a lot of proof to it on here on RUclips look it up, he also say in a interview that everything Disney has done is not part of his star wars, George Lucas contradict himself all the time. Also the eu kept star wars alive for almost 40 years
@@alsimmonshellspawn6021 just not true. He made it clear many times the EU wasn’t canon. Bringing EU stuff into his stories does not make them canon, he’s just borrowing ideas.
In fact, his sequel trilogy would’ve also had Han Solo’s son turn evil and kill him and Luke be an exile who is discovered by a young girl Jedi. Basically the same outline the real sequels used
Coruscant: The great evil has been destroyed, and we can now enter an age of peace and prosperity!
Alsakan: Right... So anyway, about who owns this hyperspace route.
Corellia: (Oh no, here they go again.)
*Seventeen conflicts later*
Corellia: "Alright, we've had enough of this s***. MAKE WAY FOR THE DOOOZEEERRR!!!!"
It took 25,000 years before the Republic fell to Bane's Sith Order.
The Old Republic: Yeah, a thousand years of effort and how long did their empire last? Less than thirty? Oh, but they had a good run though.
What made the collapse easier was valouran's rusaan reformation
There's something incredible about the Legends lore around the beginning of the Republic, it's super wholesome.
So the Rakatas stole and enslaved the entire world/known universe with the technology of another civilization? Where have I seen that history before?🤔
This man is a blessing to the Star Wars community and very few other Star Wars RUclipsrs Can compare to him in this fans humble as possible opinion

2 and a half hours of SW Legends lore... goddamn this will be good
It's amazing the Galactic Republic lasted for 25,000 years until Palpatine subverted it into his Empire through the Clone Wars and Order 66.
True Palpatine was a political genius but his empire was pathetically short lived, literally less then thirty years.
@Loremaster XP yep, he was successful, yet shortsighted. And sith ego and greed blinded him a bit.
Although not 25,000 years old palatines story to dictatorship is similar to Caesar’s. Im sure it had influence over lucas
@@lLooN3y It did. The rise of Nazi Germany also inspired Lucas as well

The more I learn about the true history of Star Wars, the more I despise Disney.
Put this video, Generation Tech's series on the Clone Wars, Wizards and Warriors series on the Galactic Civil War, and Eckharts Ladder's video on the Legends post-Endor Era, then you basically get a complete history of the Star Wars Galaxy.
Imperium: "We have lasted for 10,000 years!"
Galactic Republic: "Cute. Try reach 25,000 years, scrub."
Hah but the difference is that the imperium is more like the empire
Meanwhile the Hutts are just like "er hello!? We've been around since before the Republic!" And then the Gree are like "pft we've been here since the Rakatan Infinite Empire."
Thank you for making this. I love the old Star Wars lore from before the original trilogy and even before the prequel trilogy. It's fascinating and infinitely expansive, vast, and grand. I'd been looking for a video like this one for a while now and you delivered it phenomenally. Your presentation is perfectly enthused and you speak seriously enough that it's believable even though it's a sci-fi fiction tale. You just did such a good job on this. Thank you
Same.
It’s so important that this portion of the original ( and true cannon, no matter what Disney says) is preserved. Thank you.
Yes.
They are preserved... because of Disney and the Legends banner...
You all seem to forget GL was adamant and vocal since the beginning that the EU was its own canon and seperate from the movies, even licensed products like the games where b canon and EU was c canon where as the movies where A canon so if the movies contradicted anything from the other canons the movies would still be correct to its own canon.
The EU was never actually canon.
Nice pfp. For Gondor!
@@UrialTheDarkOne yet people will continue to call it the official canon because for them it is superior to what Disney made official canon.
This is quite a work, the amount of time and effort put into reading, games, and anywhere else you got this information to put it into a timeline is staggering.
This is the main reason that I still love the Expanded Universe because it was so rich with history and backstory, thanks to the writers who stayed true to George Lucas and his vision, like you and your Channel. Keep up the great work, and May The Force Be With You Always.

This is why I love Legends content so much.

Disney would ruin the Old Republic, best thing they can do now is jump ahead a thousand or so years getting well clear of their burning dumpster fire until they can no longer smell the smoke & see the glow of the flames. Then it would be a simple matter of actually creating good Star Wars content with people that actually like & respect the franchise, people like the actual FOUNDER.
Maybe the real Republic was the Alsakan Conflicts we had along the way!
Disney had all the lore and source material of the past 50 YEARS! They could of made the 3 movies follow the legacy of the force books and it would of been amazing.
Hell they could of made a animated version of the early republic based on fannon.
@spaceengineeringempire4086 nah they will ruin it those stories aren't for lil kids and small minded people
I've honestly slowly but surely become a Star Wars expert with all your videos I've been binge watching
I loved this series when it came. I always did like learning history. Even learning history from fictional worlds and factions. Plus I always loved learning how the Republic came to be. No matter how corrupt it can be. Like I've always told people, if I fought for the Republic during the Clone Wars, I would still fight for it. But after Order 66, I would resign. Because in the end, neither the Republic nor Separatists won.
Thanks for the shoutout to the LS Sith! Honestly, the expansion or at times reexpansion of the Sith and their code during the TOR period to include more honorable, pragmatic, and at times light leaning Sith was my favorite part of the MMO. Very excited to see how the MMO ends, or if they'll keep it open ended in such a way that acknowledges player choice

So been looking forward to this compilation video since you started this history series. No I didn’t know this video was coming, but still look forward to more ancient Star Wars history videos you put out.

2:33:33 hours of republic lore, nice touch.
When a youtuber makes a two and half hour documentary on galatic history and it ends up being 25,000 times better than the sequel movies
@Geetsly's You should continue to the next chapter in this series. you should delve into the prequel era and so on explain the republic's fall and the empires rise, idk i think that would be an interesting video IMO. Just a completion of the star wars universe in this series, i think you did a wonderful job in compiling all the videos together keep up the great work im a loyal viewer and fan. May the force be with you, always...
As a relatively new Star Wars fan, thanks for this channel and your content. This great deep lore, politics and world building is why I love Lucas era Star Wars more than disney star wars. I pretty much stick with that and EU books now. So awesome. Can't believe some people actually bemoaned the prequels for politics and world building when all they lacked was good writing.
Prequels had jar jar, stfu
Pretty hilarious to say a civilization lasted 25 thousand years when they are currently in a state of perpetual war. Makes the whole idea that civilizations that possess interstellar travel but yet still fight over local resources even sillier. I do love Star Wars but they have no clue or no respect for the size of a galaxy.
The current state of the galaxy is a result of the collapse of the Republic, largely political
Finally the algorith does something right, how did it know i needed an extensive history of SW at 1:30 am while I cant sleep.
The most unrealistic part of Star Wars isn't the alien species, or the monoecology planets, or the Jedi/Sith, or the technology... it's the idea that a democracy this bloated and populated would last more than five minutes before devolving into civil war and chaos that would make Syria look stable.
If you read the books, you realize it never really was stable. It was just so big that all of the feuding factions couldn't figure out a way to take control of it most of the time.. ..
Coming across this in my notifications, sure was a pleasant surprise. I love listening to your videos. Especially when I'm painting my minis and playing video games. I remember subscribing in late 2019, I'm glad I've been around to see this channel improve in quality. Actually they used leftism: the accumulation and centralization of power
@@emeryoldham48 not really. Leftism is just generally any spectrum of leftist ideology (i.e. social equality/egalitarianism)
What Palpatine did with the empire was nationalization and authoritarian/dictatorial structures, those systems of government however stand seperate to political systems. Both Fascism as extreme Rightwing and Socialism as extreme leftwing were at times authoritarian. Hell, you could even say Centrism was Autocratic through the system of Monarchism.
Beyond that, Palpatine only really started nationalization of key sectors after he took power, which in the original 1970's star wars was a critique to the rapid buildup and political intertwine of the military industrial complex in the US under president Richard Nixon due to the vietnam war
Awesome! would you ever consider doing a part 2, where you cover the legends timeline of the ABY era?

I like to think that Coruscant was, at one point, Earth, and that deep underneath all of its layered cities, the original, real-life homeworld of humanity lay dormant.
It'd be such a cool concept to explore. Similar to the anime made in the abyss. I'd watch a star wars show like that
@@rushpatriot2866 absolutely. Coruscant is humanity's homeworld in Star Wars, and while the two timelines of real life and Star Wars are obviously different, Coruscant's original history is so legendary and mysterious that to imagine it as Earth in its very first days wouldn't be a significant stretch. The only differing factor would be the wars between the ancient humans and the Taungs, a species which gave rise to Mandalorian culture before humans took it up; but to address them, I would identify the Taungs with chimpanzees or gorillas, who, through some Planet of the Apes-esque circumstances, began a war with their more advanced human relatives. The Taungs are said to have been simian creatures, and while they purportedly had grey skin, flat faces, and tentacled heads, with so much of Coruscant's history shrouded in legend, it wouldn't be a stretch to think that they could have just been Planet of the Apes-style intelligent apes. Which would also mean that Mandalorian culture was made by intelligent chimpanzees.
So humans caused most problems in the galaxy
I've never seen any of the starwars films I've watched reviews clips etc. But never a film in its entirety, maybe it's just cuz I love history and mythology but I find this video really enjoyable, it somehow feels very human, everything feels like it's something humas would do and have done in the past, exploring, conquering, unifying, internal conflicts, and let's not forget genocide and crusades so yeah, don't know if I'll watch the films but now I have a good understanding of the history of the Republic 🧠
Thanks for the video💯💯
