@@LoneWolf-tk9em Nah, What Amazon has done can be considered their own works based loosely on Tolkien's work but just their own version. Take the Mortal Kombat franchise as an example. There are the arcade games, the movies, the book and a cartoon show, all of which have different narratives. As terrible as some of it has been, the franchise keeps moving forward. Perhaps in another 50 years we may even get another set of movies or something based on the works of Tolkien because the story is just that good (and companies like money). Could any company destroy this franchise? Not likely.

I've been studying The Silmarillion with explanation videos in the last few weeks and I think this video will help some more. "King Theoden of Rohan emerged upon a hillock on the edge of the Pelenor fields at the head of 6000 riders of Rohan, where he looked down upon the doom of his age and did not falter despite the immensity of fight which now awaited the aged warrior king" That is undoubtedly the best sentence I have heard on RUclips. I get shivers everytime I hear it. Loved this video, keep up the amazing work ❤❤
I really like how Jackson told the crew while filming to treat lotr as a documentary, not friction. Sometimes ones mind can almost believe it is some long lost history.
Even 20 years on the lotr trilogy still gives me chills When the beacons are lit When theorden reforms for the mumaki Gandalf arrival at helms deep Aragorns speech before the black gates Still get me
-The ride of the Rohirrim (both) -Theoden’s dying words “I go now to halls of my fathers, in whose mighty company I shall not now be ashamed” -The hobbits cheering Frodo’s name when Sauron’s fortress falls, and Gandalf’s barely believing tears of joy and love for the hobbits. All of it. ❤
The look on Grishnaki's face when Treebeard stomps him lol I learned in some other vid that the same actor played either Gorbag or Shagrat at Cirith Ungol. Must have been fun.
The fact that Tolkien's work can be broke down this way, says much about how history played a role in the story. Excellent analysis as always. Keep up the great work. I've now watched this 4 times lol.
I don’t think I’ve had a channel since yours that I’ve enjoyed this much for this long, massive history buff and these videos are an absolute of my day

I'd looong ago read all of Tolkien's books, and of course seen the movies... yet I'm sitting here literally stunned at this MASTERWORKS of everything put together... so much more than I'd dare dreampt of, and with a progressive (and retro) clarity that just fits together perfectly. The detail and inclusion of everything mentioned (or even suggested) in all of Tolkien-ism feels like a liberation. I can't believe it only took 3 hours, and now that its over that was not enough. T H A N K Y O U !
I have read Tolkien’s books for nearly 45 yrs. The Peter Jackson films added to my pleasure. The soundtracks even more. Your 3hr video does as well. I love the theme that I call “the long fight of good vs evil” …visible over the ages when one follows the storyline from age to age. It’s such a bittersweet tale- heroes arrive and are lost, evil persists generation after generation until the ultimate sacrifice is made to defeat it. And then a new spring of life emerges as the remnants of the old guard pass away. I mourn and feel the gravitas of the heroism and courage that lived these stories. I romantically long for/wish that this WAS OUR REAL HISTORY. Such is the talent of Tolkien. I did escape “this world” while I watched your video and I remembered the Tolkien tales it’s based on. And now I feel the melancholy of being back. Thanks Well done.
I hunt for these long form videos, and particularly ones delving into history and various franchise's lore...but finding a 3 hour one on the War of the Ring is easily the greatest I could ever hope to find! HUGE thank you!
Absolutely insane work. To think we got a three movie series on such a tiny part of the history. There is so much here I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we get another trilogy. This is still one of the best made videos on YT. I’m always in awe at how much more lore there is. One of the best most beautifully crafted fictional universes. The fall of Arnor, the conquests of Gondor, the rise of dwarves, the first witch king war. There’s so much good media here it’s mind blowing.
My gosh, this must have required so much research to get all the massive, grand battles as well as the tiny off-page skirmishes. Thank you for such amazing content!!!
Tolkien would be so proud of this channel! The fact that he advised everyone who indulged in his works to look at all the stories of Middle-Earth through the eyes of a "historian", you guys took that quite literally. Thank you Wizards & Warriors/Kings & Generals! P.S. You can SUCK IT AMAZON!!
A creativity not to be matched until J K Rowling's, but never surpassed, an acknowledgement that event Rowlings would concede to. Both are brilliant, but I grew up with Tolkein and will always be a die-hard paladin of Tolkien lore.

@@wastrelperv yeah the Harry Potter books are entertaining but I’ve always felt they lacked authenticity, there’s very little actually original ideas in terms of world building and fantasy. Hell, she even ripped off things from lotr, like how the hawcrux (or whatever those things are called) are basically a rip off of how the one ring keeps Sauron alive. I’m all for incorporating other ideas into your work, but I can’t really think of any truly unique feature that Rowling invented. The books are entertaining for sure, I’m down for them, but theyre very juvenile compared to many many many other great works of literature and I don’t think Rowling deserves endless high praise or talked about as if her creative projects have been anywhere near as deep and authentic as Tolkien
Tolkien emphasized the use of maps in his work in an interview and the way this video is presented really shows how much it makes more sense with maps. Really fantastic video, I’m blown away at how much information you were able to extract and present in a concise and detailed manner. Thank you 🙏

The beginning through the war of wrath has always been my favorite. It's not told the way the later (or earlier) tales are, but I love the legendarium more than anything. So many great battles in the FA, plus I think Morgoth being left out of the most popular books and later adaptations makes him even more interesting to the casual fan, I remember when I first read the silmarillion I was like oh.... Sauron is Starscream LOL (really the reverse)
As a die hard tolkien fan I have to say this is one of the best lore videos out there thank you. Ar Pharazon was already a bad guy before Sauron influenced him he usurped his wife he was not of the line of Elros it was his wife but he took over the throne.

I have always loved the STORYS of history and you make the story’s become clear and finally understandable.I especially like your battles easily presented how they were actually fought. Great job!

Tolkien and Lord of the Rings influenced heavy metal music very much. There are endless band names, songs, art and references to his work in the genre.🤘
Yes I've discovered that a few years ago, some band really imbue Tolkien tales/theme in their song and its crazy satisfying to listen to it and understand all the little details. It truly pay off to be a Tolkien geek. Here some Artist/Album I found for the curious : -Lind Erebros does beautiful music, awesome for reading or in general : *Elven Oratory - Rebirth of Light* (Covering the golden age of Valinor), *Elven Oratory - Noldolante* (Covering the Rebellion of Noldor and their battle to Morgoth), *Eleven Oratory - The Lay of Leithian* (Covering the Tale of Beren and Lúthien) -Blind Guardian awesome Power Metal music inspired by Heroic Fantasy : *Nightfall in Middle Earth* (Covering a good part of the Silmarils, one of my all time favorite music album, for those little audio scenes that you wouldn't understand if you didn't read the Silmarillion, but hearing Morgoth Cry when he's tangled by Ungoliant is brillant or when Morgoth tell Sauron to run from the War of Wrath before Morgoth get caught by the Valar) -Emyn Muil, Yes the artist named after the Emyn Muil where Frodo and Sam meet Gollum, does Atmospheric Black Metal, Symphonic Black Metal music. In some way it feels as if his music was imbued with Morgoth malice and I love it : *Turin Turambar Dagnir Glaurunga* (Cover the life of Túrin Turambar), *Elenion Ancalima* (Music inspired by Númenor) -Aaron Dunn, beautiful Instrumental Music perfect for reading. Aaron mostly do small albums : *The Silmarillion Symphony Ep.1: The Deeps Of Time* (Cover the beginning of Arda), *The Fall Of Fingolfin* (The second part of The Silmarillion Symphony, title mostly self explanatory), *The Fall of Gondolin* (could be The Silmarillion Symphony Ep.3 but its only two, way too short, music tracks but still pleasant to listen to), *Finrod* (Clearly inspired by Athrabeth Finrod ah Andreth the fourth part of the book Morgoth's Ring) -Lonely Mountain Band, Traditional Folk Music perfect for starting your day : *Beyond the Western Seas* (Thematic music for the Elves), *Second Breakfast* (Thematic music for the Hobbits), *Songs of the Dwarves* (Thematic music for the dwarves) -Galadhrim, as it's name imply it's like if the Galadhrim (Elves that live in Lothlórien) were playing music : *Galadhrim* (how original, right? but it's a small artist and its first album, Focus or related on many well known Eleves such as Galadriel, Fëanor, Nimrodel or Tinúviel), *The Elder Days* (Silmarillion related with some good narrative music) -Summoning, Atmospheric Black Metal/Symphonic Black Metal. Another Artist that has imbue Morgoth style, that's typically the music I'd imagine Morgoth or Sauron would be singing in his dungeon or during the Ainulindalë : *Minas Morgul* (from the first age to the third age) -Archangel, Progressive Rock/Rock Opera : *The Akallabêth* (As it's title imply, it's a narrative music album about the Akallabêth, Aka The Falll of Númenor) Here's what I've found and still listen to them often, But I'll say that I have a crush for *The Akallabêth* and *Nightfall in Middle Earth* album as I often end up singing the music with our without the music accompanying me. To anyone, feel free to let me know what Music/Albums/Artists inspired by Tolkien you listen as I am glad I could share my passion of those Music/Albums/Artists. I'm always open for suggestions and I'd love to expand my library. If you read it this far I wanna say *Thank You* for your time.

I am so amazed by the effort you guys put into this, just imagine if this is put into the big screen. I personally would love to see those other battle that coincide with the thebattle of pelennor fields ( Gondr, Rohan vs Mordor), those other battle like for example Battle of Dale at 02:28:47 is just epic, its nice to see that the Men of Dale and Dwarves of Erebor were also fighting Sauron's forces on the northern part of Middle Earth. The ending was sad though but still an epic battle worthy to be seen
isn't that why he made the one ring? so he could at least be aware of their movement and prepare for the war? I don't wanna sound dumb but I'm still newer to the lore of LOTR
@@YEETUSDAFEETUS The elf who forged the elven rings, Celebrimbor, used Sauron’s techniques in forging the the three elven rings. However, Celebrimbor made the rings with good intent, unlike Sauron who made the rings of men and dwarves with evil intent. Thus, the elven rings were similar and still tied to Sauron by the technique used to make them, but because Celebrimbor poured goodness into them, they did not affect the elves in the same way as the rings of men and dwarves affected their masters. Hope this helps!
Yes correct, 4 rings were forged in secret. 3 by Celebrimbor (albeit using the ring lore or Anatar) and the one by Sauron in mt doom. It was when Sauron first put the ring on that the elves saw him for who he was. As they could sense eachother.
Dain man, what a champion. Lifetime of kicking butt and standing against evil, died defending the body of a brother surrounded by dozens of enemies (elite veteran warriors of Rhun too, no orc could kill a dwarf like Dain)
As a worldbuilder inspired immensely by J.R.R. Tolkiens War of The Ring and his Silmarilion, your opening words resonated deeply with me. It truly is awe-inspiring how influential Tolkiens works have been on humankind and how it will shape the world for the better.

This might be the best complete war history of Tolkien's 2nd/3rd Age lore I've ever seen. Fantastic work! Stays very close canonically to the books/source material, but gives some little nods to movie-specific items as well.
This was an incredible video to enjoy! It really must have been a massive undertaking to put together, but was a great watch to learn the history of middle earth during the LOTR series. Thank you!
This is amazing. Thank you. Bravo to the illustrators. I would love to see videos of the battles of the valar, the war of wrath and the silmarillion like THIS. It would be like having a complete guide to all of tolkien.. Even while reading the books this would add perspective to the battles. Wow. Just wow. I understand the geography and history of the families much better now. It also made me appreciate the how faithful the films were and see Jackson's changes and omitions in different light. Worth the long watch. SUBSCRIBED.
You got to love how the witch king dies Eowyn avenging her uncle by repeating his same bravery, one of the only women of the world with that level of courage and skill able to defeat the prophecy A shirefolk, another small person of immense courage, repaying his somewhat unknown debt to the Dunedain rangers by avenging their fallen kingdom And a dagger made in Arnor, breaking the spell around the one who destroyed it All 3 parties teaming up to pay homage to all that the witch-king had destroyed and finally killing something that had legitimately seemed nearly unkillable
it almost would have to come from a single authour, otherwise the lore would just get fucked up. I never hear nit picking details of Tolkien where people are in two places at the same time or time goes by too fast. That happens in Game of Thrones a lot because there are just so many characters to follow, but it never seems to happen in Tolkiens work
@@bvyup2112 I think it comes fown to the scope of each story. Tolkien basically has 4 books and the rest were just ideas and notes, he didn't actually write a lot of the back story of LOTR In detail, it was put together over decades. His son did an amazing job on actually making those notes cohesive stories. So I can imagine 30+ years of editing makes it possible to do that. That's not taking away from his genius world building or anything
This is a wonderful video! I'll have to watch it in parts, but greatly looking forward to it! Meanwhile, I have a clarification: 51:20 isn't wrong but it makes it sound like the wizards appeared very late and Gandalf went straight to help Thorin & Bilbo, when actually they arrived around the year TA 1000.
That part really confused me too. I had to look it up to make sure I wasn't crazy. Definitely seems like he's saying Gandalf arrived around TA 2700 and then "The Hobbit" happened shortly after.
Tolkien created a life like millennia long “history” of Middle Earth and it shows his outstanding capacity and skills as a writer. The side branch of Kings and Generals, Wizards and Warriors has produced an epic opus by themselves to tell us all Tolkiens story in never tiring or want to click away 3:02:28. Both I give my respect and praise!
Established titles does not grant nobility. You get one and become a landlord. If you want to officially have lord on everything do the same paperwork (minus trying to file the extra document) and legally change your name to include it.

Its so sweet that most of the fellowship made it to Valinor. Merry, Pippin, Aragorn and Boromir would certainly be missed, but the hobbits lying beside Aragorn always gets me. The greatest man of the last ages of men and 2 of the least of people, but equals and best of friends
I always thought the Uruk Hai army of Isengard was lacking in Wargs and riders when they fought the Rohirrim. The Uruk's where equipped with heavy armor and a variety of machetes, axes, pikes and shields, with some bows an crossbows. In melee the Uruks would be in serious threat but with Rohans armies making up mostly cavalry and would loose volleys of arrows apon the orcs before charging is a devastating combo, we only need to look to the Huns and Mongols for results. I feel if Isengard put a higher priority on Wargs riders and/or Horseman Rohan could have fallen.

"King Theoden of Rohan emerged upon a hillock on the edge of the Pelenor fields at the head of 6000 riders of Rohan, where he looked down upon the doom of his age and did not falter despite the immensity of fight which now awaited the aged warrior king"
That is undoubtedly the best sentence I have heard on RUclips. I get shivers everytime I hear it. Loved this video, keep up the amazing work ❤❤
Glad you enjoyed it, this is why I take so much joy from my work!
DDDDDEEEEEAAAAAATTTTTTHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
I really like how Jackson told the crew while filming to treat lotr as a documentary, not friction. Sometimes ones mind can almost believe it is some long lost history.
Defintly! Totally Agree With You!!
Tolkien was brilliant
Careful with that friction 🐸
Yea, if the crew treat it like friction, it couldn't have went well
When Elrond speaks to stoned Frodo in his mind it totally feels like a documentary indeed.
When it's 1am and you find a 3 hour long documentary about the history of Middle Earth...
I've watched it over 10 times now. since last year.. its. so awesome...
Yess!! I need to go to bed but I can't stop watching 😂
This is me right now... starting at 1:30am
Literally me
So it's 4am
I have been on RUclips daily since ~2006-2007 and I have to say this is definitely in my top 10 favorite videos ever!
Great job, and thank you!
Even 20 years on the lotr trilogy still gives me chills
When the beacons are lit
When theorden reforms for the mumaki
Gandalf arrival at helms deep
Aragorns speech before the black gates
Still get me
Saw Gandalfs charge on the big screen for the first time last week, and it is beyond epic.
The beacons being lit 🔥
-The ride of the Rohirrim (both)
-Theoden’s dying words “I go now to halls of my fathers, in whose mighty company I shall not now be ashamed”
-The hobbits cheering Frodo’s name when Sauron’s fortress falls, and Gandalf’s barely believing tears of joy and love for the hobbits.
All of it. ❤
The look on Grishnaki's face when Treebeard stomps him lol I learned in some other vid that the same actor played either Gorbag or Shagrat at Cirith Ungol. Must have been fun.
Nothing beats the Charge of the Rohirrim. Knowing they are all going to die, but doing it anyway. Because there is no other choice. "DEATHHHHH!!!!!"

The Twenties writings vie with today’s best… even so!
Thanks
Well done.
I hunt for these long form videos, and particularly ones delving into history and various franchise's lore...but finding a 3 hour one on the War of the Ring is easily the greatest I could ever hope to find! HUGE thank you!
Thanks for such a great video. Can't imagine all the work that went into this.
Its definitely AI
Tolkien would be so proud of this channel! The fact that he advised everyone who indulged in his works to look at all the stories of Middle-Earth through the eyes of a "historian", you guys took that quite literally. Thank you Wizards & Warriors/Kings & Generals!

A creativity not to be matched until J K Rowling's, but never surpassed, an acknowledgement that event Rowlings would concede to. Both are brilliant, but I grew up with Tolkein and will always be a die-hard paladin of Tolkien lore.

@@TheArrowedKnee Rowling still deserves great kudos for establishing so much of the foundation for modern young person fiction be it fantasy, dystopian, etc. Her influence is huge and I say that as someone not invested in her works.

Pharazon was of the line of Elros, he and Miriel were first cousins.
@@Tar-Elenion I meant he wasn’t the line of elros to actually inherit the throne, he was part of a branch family from the main line.
I truly enjoy your presentations because I get to see how the battles were waged and how the people actually were. So much better than names and dates. I have always loved the STORYS of history and you make the story’s become clear and finally understandable.I especially like your battles easily presented how they were actually fought. Great job!
What an incredible love and effort went into making this. It really shows.

This was certainly a comprehensive overview of probably the greatest fantasy epic of our time rivaled only by the Odyssey of Homer. Thanks!!! So much to think about here.
Here some Artist/Album I found for the curious :
-Lind Erebros does beautiful music, awesome for reading or in general : *Elven Oratory - Rebirth of Light* (Covering the golden age of Valinor), *Elven Oratory - Noldolante* (Covering the Rebellion of Noldor and their battle to Morgoth), *Eleven Oratory - The Lay of Leithian* (Covering the Tale of Beren and Lúthien)
-Blind Guardian awesome Power Metal music inspired by Heroic Fantasy : *Nightfall in Middle Earth* (Covering a good part of the Silmarils, one of my all time favorite music album, for those little audio scenes that you wouldn't understand if you didn't read the Silmarillion, but hearing Morgoth Cry when he's tangled by Ungoliant is brillant or when Morgoth tell Sauron to run from the War of Wrath before Morgoth get caught by the Valar)
-Emyn Muil, Yes the artist named after the Emyn Muil where Frodo and Sam meet Gollum, does Atmospheric Black Metal, Symphonic Black Metal music. In some way it feels as if his music was imbued with Morgoth malice and I love it : *Turin Turambar Dagnir Glaurunga* (Cover the life of Túrin Turambar), *Elenion Ancalima* (Music inspired by Númenor)
-Aaron Dunn, beautiful Instrumental Music perfect for reading. Aaron mostly do small albums : *The Silmarillion Symphony Ep.1: The Deeps Of Time* (Cover the beginning of Arda), *The Fall Of Fingolfin* (The second part of The Silmarillion Symphony, title mostly self explanatory), *The Fall of Gondolin* (could be The Silmarillion Symphony Ep.3 but its only two, way too short, music tracks but still pleasant to listen to), *Finrod* (Clearly inspired by Athrabeth Finrod ah Andreth the fourth part of the book Morgoth's Ring)
-Lonely Mountain Band, Traditional Folk Music perfect for starting your day : *Beyond the Western Seas* (Thematic music for the Elves), *Second Breakfast* (Thematic music for the Hobbits), *Songs of the Dwarves* (Thematic music for the dwarves)
-Galadhrim, as it's name imply it's like if the Galadhrim (Elves that live in Lothlórien) were playing music : *Galadhrim* (how original, right? but it's a small artist and its first album, Focus or related on many well known Eleves such as Galadriel, Fëanor, Nimrodel or Tinúviel), *The Elder Days* (Silmarillion related with some good narrative music)
-Summoning, Atmospheric Black Metal/Symphonic Black Metal. Another Artist that has imbue Morgoth style, that's typically the music I'd imagine Morgoth or Sauron would be singing in his dungeon or during the Ainulindalë : *Minas Morgul* (from the first age to the third age)
-Archangel, Progressive Rock/Rock Opera : *The Akallabêth* (As it's title imply, it's a narrative music album about the Akallabêth, Aka The Falll of Númenor)
Here's what I've found and still listen to them often, But I'll say that I have a crush for *The Akallabêth* and *Nightfall in Middle Earth* album as I often end up singing the music with our without the music accompanying me.

This is a fantastic video! So much was explained and I can better understand the entire ring saga from start to finish. Thank you for all your hard work in putting this together!
One minor correction. Sauron had no hand in the forging of the elven rings. Which is why the wearers of the elven rings were not dominated by Sauron.
isn't that why he made the one ring? so he could at least be aware of their movement and prepare for the war?

You got to love how the witch king dies
Eowyn avenging her uncle by repeating his same bravery, one of the only women of the world with that level of courage and skill able to defeat the prophecy
A shirefolk, another small person of immense courage, repaying his somewhat unknown debt to the Dunedain rangers by avenging their fallen kingdom
And a dagger made in Arnor, breaking the spell around the one who destroyed it
All 3 parties teaming up to pay homage to all that the witch-king had destroyed and finally killing something that had legitimately seemed nearly unkillable
This story is so awesome that it's almost incredible to have come from a single author! Leaving me totally speechless with the details.
it almost would have to come from a single authour, otherwise the lore would just get fucked up.
