"From a certain point of view" is doing some serious heavy lifting.
"Hey man what year is it?"
"Oh it's... 12 before battle of yavin"
"What's the battle of yavin..."
"I... I don't KNOW..."
No it's 1968 and this weed is amazing!!! 😂
That would probably be imperial year 7 in universe.
@@R3TR0221 I've never thought about it, but yeah, I think your right. Palps would DEFINITELY base the new calendar on the birth of the empire. However, It would take way more than 7 years to synchronize an entire galaxy. We didn't even invent the atomic clock until 1949. Telephones were invented in 1876. If we still required landlines, we still wouldn't be able to communicate with huge portions of 3rd world countries 148 years later.
I am sleeping to this like it's a bedtime story.
Thank you Alex and Mollie for being the positive light in the Star Wars RUclips community!
I did the SAME thing.
I really like the idea of Luke tricking the guards into thinking that they’re being choked at Jabba’s Palace. It legitimately seems like something Jedi like Luke and Qui-Gon would do
I always assumed "e chu ta" translated to "eat sh*t" 😂

I know what I will be watching during the weekend with a nice glass of wine. Wow... thank you Alex and Molly for being the best Star Wars channel.
The 'Theta' class dropship can carry 4 AT-ATs and 8 AS-STs in one trip. There are other dropships/ landing barges that can carry numerous combinations of vehicles and walkers.
It's the humility that gets to my heart strings with the majority Olof these war stories. That and the common sense that seems so natural. I am awe struck at every single one of these stories.
Thanks
Man, the "Han shot first" debate: The shots take place after the exchange "He may only take your ship." "Over my dead body." "That's the idea. I've been looking forward to this for a long time." This takes place while Greedo has Han at gunpoint. Han would be STUPID to wait for a second longer.
Yeah, I always have just viewed it as they both shot. Greedo missed, han didn't. And that detail will never change!
Makes it easier 😄
You better believe I'm gonna watch this whole thing even though I watched all the individual ones.
24:07 Something most people forget... these are supposed to be modern telling of stories being told about people and events far far away, and a long long time ago, thus their languages and most idioms are being translated into something understandable to this audience. So an X-Wing, in our language, evokes a look, it may not be a literal translation, but something that evokes that shape to the people as it was then/there.
Wish this was more well known.
Woot nice this is gonna be a good one to leave on in as ambient background.
Also been noticing a lot of salty comments in the shorts uploads of these individual questions complaining about the point of it all when George never came up with it from 1977-1983. How come all of a sudden its a problem when this franchise has existed for almost 50 years?
Sorry, but Palpatine himself has stated that Anakin would never be able to perform Sith lightning due to his debilitating injuries sustained on Mustafar, which included the loss of his only remaining organic arm. The ability to use force lightning is vastly different than improvising in a fistfight due to having only one arm.
I always thought the protocol droid that C3PO sees in Cloud City before getting blasted was saying "INTRUDER!"
Lmao
Thank you for joining us today, Firmus Piett. You are interviewing today for the open position that we have in the Security Department here on Axxila. After reviewing your resume, you were a former Admiral in the Imperial Navy? "Yes."
What are your greatest strengths/weaknesses? "I'm a very experienced and able officer, as you can see on my resume. That would be my greatest strength. Weaknesses? Well, I hate working with bounty hunters. I just like to know where a person's loyalties lie before I work with them."
How would your previous co-workers describe you? "I was Admiral Kendal Ozzel's personal confidant on many occasions as he was my superior before I served as Admiral on the Executor. He would describe me as loyal, dead pan and blunt at times, but with a dark sense of humor."
Tell me something about yourself that isn’t on your resume. "Well, I have excellent survival skills, that's for sure. In one such incident in the past, I was serving as Fleet Admiral in the Imperial Navy when a fighter pilot actually, purposefully flew into the bridge of the Executor, causing the Executor to veer out of control and crash into Death Star II. To this day, I can't believe my luck, but I was able to fall off the dias, scramble off the bridge and get out in an escape pod. I thought I did pretty well all of those years serving Lord Vader and the Emperor directly."
Tell me about a past difficult work situation. How did you overcome it? "Lord Vader had replaced Admiral Ozzel and Captain Viett, and I had only just began to serve under him, and there was this particular incident when we were in orbit over Bespin near one of their mining colonies. Lord Vader specifically directed me to deactivate the hyper-drive on a contraband YT freighter. My team did it - I verified the order myself - but in a key moment, the ship got away to hyper-drive as we were readying our tractor beam. I was frozen in shock, and to this day, I have no idea how that happened. But Lord Vader kept me as Admiral, and I overcame my daily fear at first by indulging in my lifetime love of Axxilian Negronis, but I'm happy to say that I'm 3 years sober."
Describe a time when you had to work with someone whose personality or work style was very different from yours. "Lord Vader was a very curious fellow at times. One time I even saw him without his helmet, although it was from the rear, but he seemed to have a barely controlled rage about him, and you always had to remain on your toes and be as punctual as possible with him. I demanded a great deal of preparation from my team during that time to have the most flexibility for anything to happen, and to be ready for any order to be given. I basically did whatever he told me."
Very well! We expect to fill the position soon and we'll be in touch. "Thank you."
Bravo 👏🏼 I can only imagine the research you had to do to make this one great job
This is such high quality content. Like what a great collection of answers to just have on hand for arguments 😂
Nah, Han definitely shot first. It's the very first version made and released and it's how George wants it. No argument here, fact is fact. And it definitely does matter.
I agree. The whole question about not wanting Han to be seen as a cold hearted killer was dumb. He's a survivor and that's all there is to it.
Han ABSOLUTELY shot first. You can see the blast come out before Greedo’s and cause Greedo’s to miss as his body reacted to getting drilled. Matters 1000%, plus Han being a scoundrel fits the bill he’d shoot first while also protecting his life. He knew Greedo, so he’d know he wasn’t talking his way out. If he goes peacefully to Jaba, then he’s likely good for the beast and no carbonite.
Han was the only one to shoot. Greedo didn't get the chance because Han shot Greedo, end of story. Not "Han shot first," its just "Han shot Greedo before Greedo started to squeeze the trigger."
@@cliffcampbell8827 negative. Slow it down. There’s a blaster shot that hits the wall by Han’s head
@cliffcampbell8827 Yeah, until they retconed it, and added Greedos blaster shot in. Then, and only then, the term "Han Shot First" was used. It was never used before it so pipe down

“You don’t do the budget Terry, I do!”

Such a good video, as always, thanks Alex and Molly!!!
The real reason they didn't shoot the escape pod is because YOU DON'T DO THE BUDGET TERRY, I DO!
Sir Alec Guinness really done favours, the video "Obi Wan has PTSD" where his talk with Luke about his father and it cut together with prequel footage really shows how good he was as an actor
thanks for the ride, that was really nice. It's so simply easy to see that when the movies are great there are no bigger questions asked.

These four brothers make me cry everytime I watch this masterful masterful masterful😢😅😊
skywalker being a common name is really funny to me
The medal one: I always figured that the big reason Leia honored them was because they rescued her on the Death Star. Wedge wasn’t there.
18:31 I personally like the idea that for the dual on the death star, the two of them had known each other for so long faced each other, so many times and were aware of each other styles that it was more of a psychological battle.
You will see experienced swordsman facing each other where the battle is over very quickly when somebody finds an opening or somebody else makes a mistake.

For those who are interested, there is a fanfic re-creation of Vader vs Kenobi on the death star to be found here on youtube and it's pretty great!

*Why did Han Solo have a Jedi Training Remote?*
Me: "Oh who's says its his? Obi-wan probably had one for his own training and knew he needed it for Luke"
Star Wars Writer: "WRONG! Here is my page long back Story about this minor Prop"
Obi Wan not knowing Anakin was alive is such a plot hole as you can see him hearing Anakin be called Vader in revenge of the sith
No you're wrong, the wire going up Alec Guinness's robe sleeve wasn't in hopes the blade lit during filming.
The blade had movie screen on a tri-sided pole. That wire was connected to a motor that spin the pole.
Obi-Wan would draw his saber, "Cut" support team would come in and add the pole. "Action" Lucas would resume filming. The pole would spin and catch the light and the post-production did their roto-scoping.
The wire was confirmed by Mark Hamill in a video where a collector presented Mark with his hero prop from ROTJ.
So what's the "From a Certain Point of View"-gymnastics answer for Luke and Ben having zero problem in telling two helpless droids the entire Empire is looking for to "wait outside" when they're refused service? A New Hope should have ended when they exit the cantina and the droids are gone forever.
There are a lot of movies that would be a lot shorter if the story was logical. 😂
Moral of the story... don't fakkk with peoples reputations. Great message Mate! Can't wait to see all the people he's screwed, vindicated!!! 😁👍
In the original audiobooks, Luke is heard building his lightsaber.
He is frustrated that he can't get it right, until he remembers what Yoda had said to him about letting the Force guide him, instead of trying to force it to work.
Let's compose ourselves and not complicate this compilation.
Its funny that a book like Heir to the Jedi answered so many random questions
I believe Kenobi said Yoda was the Jedi who taught him meaning taught him to become a Force ghost
Boba Fett sees Han's hiding trick before.
"As clumsy as he is stupid". Stupid for spying on vader/ the empire, clumsy for getting caught.
I wanna know why Padme acts like a completely different character when she's wearing the Queen outfit lmao. British accent, talks like a robot. It's strange 😂😂
GUYS!!! Take a chug of ur Blue Milk every time you hear "From a certain point of view.."! im so Din Ferik'd rn!!
Kessel Run may have been more of an obstacle course than a race from A to B.
Awesome video. So glad I'm not the only one that thought those figures had problems. I'm surprised ree yees wasn't on there
Lars is afraid that luke will end up as a sad old man drinking milk.
Padme also used an English accent, after she revealed her true identity to the Gun Gun's leader. Like right before Maul's awesome entrance...she shouts.."Get to your ships" with a britches accent. Always found it weird she spoke like that AFTER everyone found out who the real Queen on Naboo was.
There are many instances in the literary EU that reference hyperspace tracking/pursuit by taking note of a ship's trajectory and jumping right behind on the same vector. A technician listens for the hyperspace wake, like sonar on a submarine to be sure they are following, and hits the hyperdrive kill switch when he hears the target ship sounds like its dropping out of hyperspace.
It takes lots of training and skill to be good at it.
If you are not in pursuit and just monitoring a ship, you can also take note of the trajectory and accurately guess where they are headed based on the lane they have to be traveling on. A tactic to ambush them then would be the send ships in a chain of hyperspace exits so someone comes out near enough to the target to see them on the realspace tracking sensors.
You can jump in any random direction to escape, but it must be a very short jump to ditch the pursuers... a la light speed skipping... before a calculated path must be chosen, cus as Han says you can jump into a star or black hole or something if you do not use proper calculations.
The light speed skip is a tactic that is described in canon. You make a couple short random jumps to hide which way you are really going cus, like I said, there are only so many clear lanes and possible exit points because of objects and gravity wells and an ambusher could accurately guess where you are headed.
But the odds of light speed skipping to 3 random places like in the movie would be highly unlikely. And your hyperdrive motivator would drop you out of hyperspace before you came near enough to be within a planet's atmosphere when you came out. And it wouldn't let you jump back out so near a gravity well. So the way its done in TROS is impossible.
Most long hyperspace trips did require multiple stops and course changes to get across the galaxy without running into something.
Though its not really the object you collide with, but the displacement in space-time its mass/gravity creates. In hyperspace you are not on this dimensional plane, so small objects like asteroids and other ships you pass right through. But the gravity shadow of massive objects can be collided with.
The Holdor Manuever... its the space-time disruption that destroyed the star destroyer, not the matter of the ship jumping into it.
It would be somewhat difficult to pull off because if you jump too early you pass right through and your wake disipates. Jump too late and you just crash into the target, and a ship that size, it wouldnt have been a killing blow, just a hole in the hull.
It's gotta be timed just right.
And there is a possibility Holdor survived. For reals.
Though most likely, her ship broke up from thr disruption as well, and it and her corpse will be hurtling through hyperspace til it eventually gets pulled into a gravity well.
It’s also worth noting that Owen and Beru weren’t disintegrated. Disintegration leaves dust behind at most. The Empire burned (i.e. incinerated) Owen and Beru’s bodies.
6:40 - In the novel he also looks at R2 While luke was talking to Han and says to him "It's been a long time, Old friend."
in the original cut of return of jedi , Anakin was his old self but not scared so technically George just wanted to change this retconning his own work. for those of us who remember the untainted cut of the original movies.
Oh boy, it's 'Biggest Questions ANSWERED' Prequal Trilogy edition time!
Ok, the Force choke motivational speech was truly inspirational 😅 - Din
I always wanted to know where Porkins was suppose to go. His ship, during the Death Star attack, starts to break up & Biggs tells him to "Eject"! Where in the cold vacuum of space was he suppose to go? Land on the surface of the D Star, find a maintenance hatch & knock asking if Darth can come out to play?
Vader could use force lightening, he had the ability to use Red force lightning which is said to destroy the victims literal connection to the force, but due to his cybernetic body it was risky for him to use.
"E CHU TA" Translated to what that old lady said to the new sheriff in Blazing Saddles.
Han shot first, there is no way Greedo could miss from that distance
An easy fix would've been to establish the Kessel run had several routes and the shortest route was notoriously an extremely treacherous and dangerous run. Perhaps it could've been a pilot's tradition to debate who's ship could make it through the twelve parsec route
I like the funny jokes and Robot Chicken references. Thanks for all the work that went into that movie length utube vid!
1:24:19 nah nah nah Vader said that because Luke had the high ground
@30:51 Being a Warhammer fan, I straight up thought of the Warp. I had no idea that Chaos was a thing in Star Wars; albeit in not the same way.
Why Owen didn't recognize the droids: In episode I, 3PO was in Shmi's house before she was married and didn't yet know The Lars family. In Ep 2, the droids remained on the ship so they never met Owen.
What a time to be alive
1:20:13 there are just two bearded commandos on the mission. That could work.
How nice of Vader to serve them dinner
for the record VADER IS UNABLE TO USE FORCE LIGHTNING. he does not have the knowledge to use it and his suit is specifically designed by palpatine to be easily overloaded by electric discharge. it was a built in fail-safe to ensure under no circumstances could vader defeat palpatine and take control. it was a guaranteed mutal destruction situation.
OP basically read 1 book and wrote it into a 90 minute video.
That extra dot on the crawl would've put them over budget ;)
R4 was the property of the Jedi order, R2 was the property of the royal house of Naboo
Don't forget that they were personally rescuers, of the Princes.
Three dots to denote a possible continuation is called an 'ellipsis' and is a recognised punctuation mark. Four dots is wrong, and a good type-setter corrected the mistake.
If the Death Star have the size of "a small moon" maybe there was already a little bit of gravity naturally due to the weight, and since the gravitation generators are a real thing in the Star Wars universe, they just needed to install one on the Death Stars to mimic the gravity you can have on an Earth size planet.
Rather than believe that it's a Proto-Star that Luke and Leia are looking at at the end of Empire, I like to believe that they are looking at a galaxy Far Far away.
There's no reason to think the Death Star could destroy a gas giant. _Too_ massive, so it would take _many_ times more energy.
Very informative! Thanks :)
There is an in universe explanation about Han stating that the Falcon made the Kessel Run in 12 par secs that makes more sense then bragging. Hyperspace lanes have specific routes that you take. Vessels are also equipped with gravity well indicators that would drop vessels out of Hyperspace to prevent them from slamming into planets. The gravity wells in the Maul would pull ships out of Hyperspace, so safe routes were made around it. So...Han turned off his gravity well indicator and took his own route through the Maul. The "normal" Kessel Run is over 12 par secs. But "Han's" route was under 12 parsecs, because he took chances that allowed him to evade pursuit.
Obiwan never owned Artoo. It was the property of the Queen (not personally but was just another maintenance droid on her ship until he saves the day).
And not quite so seriously (and obviously a point of view), in the search for the death star plans, I think Vader just wanted "his" droids back because (1) Artoo is gifted to Anakin as a wedding present from Padme, and (2) he literally built Threepio.
1:14:32. Wrong it wasn’t “The Bothens”. It was one guy…. Manny Bothens
Damn, Ret-Con A-Go-Go! (Great video, tho!)
Wedge also wasn’t involved in rescuing Leia and delivering the plans
Re: C-3PO knowing Leia - 3PO literally says, at about the 3 minute mark "there'll be no escape for the princess this time" while the ship is being boarded. Of course he knows who she is.
Uncle owen maybe didn't recognize C3PO, but the robot would remember him and tell him who he was. especially knowing the farm.
I presumed Wedge didn’t get a medal on screen bc he was part of the alliance so he would get a military award before the others. Luke and Han were civilians so their medals medals would be for rescuing Leia and their part the Death Star attack.
I always believe the second death star was started before the first was destroyed. Perhaps as a stronger show to the galaxy on being inside the inner area of the galaxy while the other being for the outer rim. This believe also flys with others that around 13 or 14 years after the first was being built they started the second one.
When you made the comment about dialing back Luke’s actions with the title change from “revenge” to “return of the Jedi”, it implies that the title is referring to Luke, it isn’t, the title “Jedi” that is “returning” is Anikan not luke, just like “revenge of sith” was him becoming Vader, “return of the Jedi” was him coming back, even if it was his final dying act, it literally saved the universe, it was the culmination of the 6 film story, Anikan was always the central character, which is what made it so cool and 🤯🤯 and such a great story arc
The lightsaber duel between Kenobi and Vader are slower because the actors and stuntman were asked to try and stop the blades just before contact so they'd hit lighter, due to the fact that the blades kept on breaking from normal dueling contact and they only had so many of them.
I read somewhere that Yoda became a Jedi Master at 100 years old
In the Star Wars role playing game one adventure involved going to a space junkyard and going onto a large surviving chunk of the Death Star and it included Vader's quarters which was where Obi-wan's lightsaber was being kept.
Great job!
