The SUV With A Touch Of Ferrari | 2021 Maserati Levante

  • While we wait for Ferrari's almost unpronounceable Purosangue, if you want an SUV with a Ferrari engine under the hood you have an alternative: the Maserati Levante. Once upon a time Ferrari was part of the Fiat conglomerate and the Ferrari division was put in charge of Maserati. To save on R&D, it made sense for Ferrari to just use the same engines in both cars and the rest is history. Glorious sounding exhaust note history. Sadly this ride is coming to an end now that Ferrari has been spun off, but for now if you want a 3.8L Ferrari V8 or a 3.0L Ferrari "derived" V6 in a comfortable 2-row SUV that's not as spendy as the upcoming Purosangue will likely be, this Levante's for you.

    For all of its faults, the Levante is still a quite unique offering. One can never get enough of that exhaust, especially if you spring for the Ferrari V8s. I really think the materials in the interior come together very well, especially using the Italian-sourced cotton-silk. Yes, it has FCA and Mercedes bits here and there. And thank God it does. It would not be fun to have it fixed if it were Italian-exclusive(ask ANY Ferrari owner). UConnect 5 is likely the best system to debut this year, and while I wish Maserati would've added its own graphics and skins(in addition to at least a 12" screen), I think the compromise works. All of that said, ALL Maseratis are either a lease or buy second-hand propositions. Their resale is beyond atrocious.

  • @future62
    @future62 3 года назад +12

    I agree that sticking with U Connect was a good idea but they could have spent some money to spruce up the graphics a little bit. Wouldn't take much design effort to make it look different while retaining functionality and performance.

    I like the styling of the exterior. The interior not so much. I mean aside from the air suspension which is something I wouldn’t want any parts of especially in a Maserati you can get the GV80 for less with more horsepower and better interior styling if you want a “different” vehicle. But as was mentioned at this price range buyers aren’t worried about reliability.

    • @Natethegreat200c

      Why do y’all try n sneak in a kia in every comment section of a car video. That kia won’t ride as well , handle as well, or have the interior quality this Maserati has. Looks can and will be deceiving in the kia with all that nicely styled hard plastic. Especially towards the bottom of the cabin. These have been very reliable per hoodies garage and car wizards findings. Also no issues with the air ride. I was terrified of air ride until a few days ago. Met someone with a Lexus With air ride 200k never touch the bags. I seen car wow but three Luxury 20 year old sedans , merc bmw and Lexus two of which had air ride and it worked fine.

    • @DM-xt3rl

      @@Natethegreat200c Well a GV80 isn’t a Kia………Additionally I don’t think anyone hasn’t seen a and older German car or a Range Rover with air suspension that isn’t smashed low to the ground indicating that it is in need of repair. You are more likely to encounter one that is broken than completely functional after 4-5 years of ownership and say 75-80K miles.
      Will be interesting to see the reliability of the Acura MDX Type S Air suspension over the years. I suspect it will be more reliable than any of the German models or this vehicle.

      @@DM-xt3rl 4-5 years is something Scotty Kilmer would say. That’s ridiculous. And going by brand is simply immature. This is Acura’s first air ride in that car or first air ride period. Germans have been making air ride for decades. Yet because it’s a Honda you automatically assume it will be more reliable and it’s a first for them. Very bias.

The Escalade is my favorite big truck by far, but that does not remove the fact, besides the big screen, it has no proprietary switchgear. The window switches can be found in all Chevys. The gear controller/screen control knob are found on Buicks. I’m leasing the base granlusso now and I have to say its the worst suv I’ve own. The base model brake are horrible, they squeak most of the time. It’s been in the shop over 50% of the time I’ve leased it. Get ready to spend upwards of $350 for the oil changes because they have to remove a lot of the bottom to change. June 2021 can’t get here fast enough to turn it in. I’m going back to genesis to have less headaches.
