The story of TOG has made it very clear that one of the key components that makes Baam so unique is his relationship to shinsu. When baam protected rachel everyone noted that it seemed as if the shinsu "reacted" or "protected" him in that moment. Baam has a fundamentally different relationship with shinsu compared to any other character we've seen so far. It's not too farfetched (to connect with SIU's point) that when Baam interacts with shinsu, his quality as an irregular must somehow intertwine with it. The reason scratching Urek is such a seemingly impossible feat is because we now have the rest of TOG after that fight to really demonstrate how almost unquantifiably, exponentially powerful the upper eschelon of TOG is compared to everyone else. However, if Baam is able to insert a pseudo divine quality into shinsu that bypasses the common power system we've seen in TOG then things can click a little bit. This is entirely head canon of course, I just have this gut feeing that Baam's specific capacity as an irregular can have a much more fundamental affect on the shinsu he controls
Baam has luffy vibes sometimes but more innocent ,, I wish this series had more attention or that SIU was in better health to keep it going,, We are not even halfway up the tower yet and we don't know if there are more floors past 137th, and there is a whole world outside with more towers, the world building is subtle but crazy , , if he can pull off some oda level one piece shit that would be awesome But I think sometimes I hold him to too high a regard ,,, he shoulda made the story shorter I don't even known if he has anything planned out some of the games are boring now,,, they are in a war and they keep agreeing to play games to settle things like wtf ,and more people need to die the stakes aren't very high, but I guess they weren't high in one piece either till recently , I'm really hoping this series gets a proper ending
Ye them playing games all the time is a bit weird but you have to also consider the fact that in climbing the tower you literally play a game at each level. The tower is a game in and of itself. It’s one massive global tournament and I think that’s what is also part of the appeal of the WEBTOON. What makes this weird is that baam is such a threat to the current way of life that carrying on this gamified journey makes less and less sense but narratively it makes things so much easier. It would also be so boring if it was constant war so you have to switch it up every now and then. In these games you see the development of characters and get to understand their thinking so I’m honeslty not complaining with the format for now
my theory is that shinsu is used in a proper way through Baam, and possibly through any other person who's as pure and unfiltered as Baam. because "life energy" has something to do with that, so he's potentially the best user of it. and not adding anything to it.
Bam has always found a way in battle to bring forward more of his power, to push harder when against the wall At the moment Urek was just having fun, wasn't really a fight for him, more of a mock battle if anything Bam, however, unleashed a burst of power that scratched Urek and took him by surprise. Another good example would be when Kallavan known for his tough body, is known to be injured by Baam at the end of hell train station or even when Baam's attack power is known for being deadly while Karaka is unable to do the same
I think it’s likely either a special thing like what he did against Hwaryun or just a case of SIU changing how tanky rankers are later on. Thinking the latter. Similar to Shanks being hurt by the random bandits and the sea monster at the start of OP.
I think Urek was barely using much power, otherwise his attack would obliterate Bam when he protected his teammate. So his defense was also probably drastically lowered but still surprising that he got scratched at all by a regular
like EVERY manga/anime/webtoon in existence.... Strong character, undervalue the MC and get hit in the process.. its not like the first time this happen in the fantasy world.

People get angry because they speedwatch/speedread/multitask while reading/watching then complain that something doesn't make sense for whatever reason. The funniest part about this specific complaint is that these people are perfect mirror images of all the characters in the webtoon that keep saying "impossible! he's just a regular!".
The way it was written, I don't see how anyone can not realize that Urek was playing around with Bam and the regulars considering his attitude and the fact that he beat multiple rankers in what seemed to be a short time yet wasn't even a little tired. Yet, Bam had trouble with a low ranker, LOVE. The power scaling was very clear.
Yup, but I think the issue people have with that scene/fight/part is that, while they assume Urek powered himself down to not kill Bam and the others, that it was just on his offensive capabilities, when it could have been both and that could have explained the scratch (at least until SIU clarified in the Kallavan blogpost later that Bam has an special power).

Except that the fight with Love was part of a game which Love himself devised, and was suited to his own skills and strengths. 99/100 of these complaints is people selectively applying or removing context from the things they want to compare. If the fight against Love had zero special rules, Bam would've eventually won it without help, because Love's power level wasn't that overwhelming. The fight with Urek was much different with Bam fighting unrestricted, and while thinking all of his friends are gonna die if he loses, because he doesn't know who Urek was, and just felt his massive aura, but Urek is just fooling around, not only is he not fighting seriously, he also doesn't seem the kind who fights to kill against anyone, much less people who are massively weaker than him. And in the fight with Kallavan, there are no restrictions on either side, but the fights are very similar to Luffy vs Doflamingo or Luffy's fights with Big Mom and Kaido, in that a whole team is fighting around him and wearing down the boss before the final clash, even then ofc SIU made it so that the fight with Kallavan ended earlier. Right after that Bam fights White, who can fight Kallavan solo on almost the same footing, but the specifities of that fight make Bam go completely berserk and use all of his power without any restriction, while during the fight with Kallavan he was trying to last as long as possible, and relying on help, on this fight he went all out knowing he wouldn't be helped, even then he got helped in the end when despite all the power he was using, it seemed like he and White were in a stalemate, and Bam would likely run out of stamina first. Conclusion, most readers are stupid, sorry but that's just how it is. Just because Urek is that strong it doesn't mean he will be fighting all out every single time, if it was Traumerei instead, he would've probably murdered everyone with a strong AoE attack without a second thought, clearly individual personalities matter a lot in these things, and people just get mad that their own expectations/power fantasies don't play out exactly the way they would like them to on someone else's story, of all things...

What he lacked in overwhelming power he made up for with intelligent strategies. At thus point, Bam was not ready to face a ranker, restrictions or not. He had trouble with low rankers later on I believe. 3-Luffy fought doffy on his own, no one wore him down...Kaido was 90% Luffy and he didn't really fight Big Mom. 4-White could NOT fight Kallavan on equal footings, reread the arc. Also, bam scales above White due to his performance in their fight so if he can't beat Kallavan, White can't. 5-No one here is saying he wss fighting all out. 6-If an author set something up and didn't fulfill it, being upset that their expectations weren't met is reasonable though, that didn't happen in this case.
I didn't know people considered it a plot hole. When reading it I always saw it as a mysterious irregular thing and seems like sui said himself he didn't explain it well which just confirms that for me ig. Perhaps we'll get more info about this later on

It’s similar to other magic systems like Spiritual Pressure in bleach, or Ki in dragon ball. For example, there’s this one part in dragon ball Z where krillin throws a rock at goku’s head, expecting him to not be injured at all by it. To his surprise though, goku still absolutely felt the pain from the rock, as his guard was down despite him being a super saiyan at the time. This leads me to believe that the concept of Ki is what defines strength in dragon ball (regardless of how inconsistent it may be). A person with their guard lowered has the same amount of defense as a normal human. So yes, I think I agree with your assessment. If shinsu as a magic system works similar to Ki, then that means Urek simply had his guard down, as he thought that an E rank regular would never have a chance in harming him.
I've felt that it was more a sign in the nature of what Baam's power was, further developed or expounded upon with his fights with Kallavan. Kallavan noted in his fight with Baam that most Rankers and High Rankers could not even scratch him (Kallavan), yet Baam could damage him despite being much weaker. Perhaps it is a display of the nature of Baam's power as an Irregular, unconsciously while fighting Urek and moving towards consciously while fighting Kallavan, to defy the rules of the Tower?
That's exactly what it is, it has been introduced since at least the first Revolution Road in S3, Bam has access to a special type of Shinsu quality that only irregulars use, it's what allows him to use Shinsu Blackhole Sphere, which is the base technique with which he can harm all these insanely strong guys, even if his attacks are weaker. Karaka, and even White, might be much stronger than him (for now), but they're not irregulars, they do not possess any ability or quality that defies the Tower's restrictions.
I never really saw it as a problem, since it's not like Urek was taking things seriously. Also, back then, Tower of God was waaaaaayyyyyyy less about fights or power-scaling, so we didn't have any great sense of scale to judge it by compared to now. As for judging it through a modern lens(I've said the same for when Baam fought Kallavan), I like to explain it kind of like if ToG were an RPG, Baam basically ignores an opponent's defense stats as an Irregular.

From around then on i have always doubted any time someone starts with 'SIU said he regrets' because it's almost always false, the only things i've seen in his blog that he said he regrets is certain character designs but even those were lighthearted jokes not meant to be taken seriously. Another popular one is 'SIU said he regrets mentioning Phantaminium' which still continues to this day.
yeah this scene always seemed pretty straightforward to me. Urek isn't trying so his guard is completely lowered cause he's fighting E-rank regulars. Baam, being an irregular and having awesome shinsu powers, in the moment of trying to protect his friends is able to use protective shinsu that leaves a small cute on Urek's face. it really isn't that hard to understand. it's the same way the shinsu protected Baam vs Hwa Ryun in the crown game. Baam was revived by the god of the outside and likely has a "truer" ability to control shinsu than anyone else in the tower, including other irregulars. that's what these moments are trying to illustrate. there's no plot hole whatsoever. the bigger issues are later on when he's fighting people like Karaka who are full on high rankers and actively trying to kill him and there's no way he's on their level of power yet and shouldn't even be able to fight back at all.
Good point about Baam vs Hwaryun. Compare it to the Phantaminum vs Enryu ranking argument: Baam damaging Mazino is like Enryu defeating an administrator - It's miraculous but at least people can comprehend it. But nobody could even comprehend Phantaminum's power, just like nobody could comprehend what Baam did to Hwaryun. They said it was like shinsu defended him of its own accord. It violates the rules of the tower more so than Baam damaging Urek, however unlikely.
people just forget.. its a fantasy world, with "rules" that get broken like, ALL the times by irregulars. why would bam being an irregular be different and be no exception?
For me the power that baam uses at this time against Urek is the power of the sun and the fact that SIU say that Baam uses his true power at this time comforts me in my theory
I think it has less to do with his output of power and more to do with the quality of his power, it has been stated many time that viole's shinsu is fundamentally different from others in the tower and in fact his power closely resembles a family head or urek himself.
I’ve just kind of accepted that it’s part of Baam being special. Similar to how when against Kallavan, Karaka said that he can block Kallavan for Baam to find an opening, because Baam could injure him when Karaka couldn’t. I know Baam didn’t have the RT back then when he scratched Urek, but it’s the best I’ve got lol
I don't think it's a plot hole, we've seen what shinsu black hole does, and bam seems to have good instincts and controls power subconsciously (he did woth hwaryun and data jahad (breaking the sphere to shield himself). I think bam subconscious defended himself with shinsu black hole, allowing for injuring urek.
Hold on, that doesn't make sense, shinsu probably but not blackholesphere since he only learned that on the hell train and even then it took him like a month at least to learn it.
it s like those moments in one piece when Vista/Croc clashed a bit with Mihawk or Marco with admirals and BM but in reality there is a significant difference in power.
That was obvious what SIU was trying to show , Urek knew they were regular and for him he could sleep and fart and kill them. Baam probably used some kind of shield he used while Urek was f*cking around. He barely managed to scratch with all his power while Urek was not even using 1% of his power and probably 0.0001%. But then he later learned that Baam was not normal due to the fact he injured him because no regular could have done that kind of ''attack'' at that lvl where Baam and the other was. I get it some people portrait it as a mistake , but Urek is a goofy guy who thinks hes strongest and can't really find any challenge. He literally did beat in a fight the strongest Family head on Floor 100 while he was climbing. That scratch is just a way to show Baam will devour everything in the tower. Urek entered the tower as a monster Baam is learning faster than Urek was a monster when he entered. We are already at a point that Baam can kill high rankers close to the top 50 and probably beyond.
The whole ,,Urek ain t that strong cuz early 2nd season bam hurt him" goes down when Gustang said he doesn t want to upset Urek so he doesn t destroy Poe Bideau family.
Its very instresting to watch this video and think about this, after last episode of the animation this sunday. They kept the scratch, so I dont think it is a SIU mistake at all, since he choose to kept it in the animation. But we have Urek even mentioning something like "Oh so it wasnt only for defense?", that I assume it was him talking about the thorn???? That ability that Bam have that appeared protecting him in some scenes, the red skeleton thing. I think Urek saw that Bam have that all along, and though it was a defensive ability, but without noticing at the time, that ability was able to hurt him, maybe he droped his guard a lil bit by thinking that was a mere defensive ability. But well, thats only my opnion. For sure Urek wasnt using all his power in that fight, but I also hope that in the animated series as a whole they try to lower the power scale a lil bit, because that is one of the problems that got out of control in TOG in my opnion.
A lot of Bams techniques are specifically designed to piece resistances that's like the whole point of the floral butterfly techniques is that the punch through shinsu and physical resistances easier it's the whole reason why him and karaka can even hurt kallavan where other people just get bulldozed by him

The way I see it... There are tiers. The highest known tier are zahard and urek which stand above the family heads. They're probably several times more powerful then any of the family heads. Then the remaining top 20 rankera/fh are each probably an order of magnitude or two stronger than literally any other low level high rankers... Remember traumeri wiped out a fug elder, jinsung ha, bam, white, yasratcha, etc. Without even trying. Then the rest of the high rankers are an order of magnitude more powerful than advanced rankers who are similarly an order of magnitude or two stronger than regular weak rankers. When bam fought urek he wasn't tanker level yet. So we have to account for 5-6 orders of magnitude or more of power ....a better analogy would be a common ant fighting a power lifter. Unless urek were sleeping it would be impossible for bam to even slightly hurt him.
Its not a problem in my opinion even if it is a plot hole cause back then the power scaling wasnt that defined and no matter how much of a genius SIU is there is no way he could know where his future self would take things this concretely....It's hype i'm cool with it

They need to show a flashback of Enryu so we know what immense power he had killing the administrator. Then show Urek's power in like the 90s. That'll give us a comparison. I'd say Phantaminum but not until they start getting to the top. SIU didn't include much information but what we do know is outrageous. Nobody knew what his weapon was; only that it killed hundreds of guards and made the rest go mad. Just the attack. Not his conversation with Jahad or Yuri, yet. He probably told Jahad he wrote the past, present and future and Bam would be the one to kill him. Just to drive him mad since Jahad would have nothing on an axis user
I must admit that there is one thing that always bothered me about Urek's first appearance. I'm not talking about his fight against Bam/Viole but about his fight against the two rangers who tried to catch him when he left the Zigena's body. He used HIS ARM to knock them out. HIS ARM. And after that he only used one finger against Karaka. That, in my opinion, is the biggest incoherence when it comes to power scale in ToG. (Now i'm not saying that he actually used his whole arm, it was just an attack and we don't really know what kind of attack it was, but when you look at the panels it looks like he used his arm, so I thought it was funny... And I pitied the rankers)
Ok question about the floor of death. Its shown the urek cant use shinsu when facing hell joe bc hell joe has control over the shinsu due to having the red thressa (no idea how to spell that) because its a small piece of the administrator. If thats the case why was Enyru able to use shinsu when facing against the administrator?
I agree that there is a big difference between passive durability and one reinforced with shinsu , and the examples you brought within the story are pretty good , but I still consider this a mistake exactly because we are speaking of Urek. High ranker + irregular + being top 2 (or top 5 at the very least) power wise. If we were to give a numeric value to defence, I'd say Urek has 1000 passive defence while Bam's strongest attack at that point could at most do 100 damage. Just my opinion, but it would take something akin to stardust from data Jahad vs Bam to finally do some damage to Urek.

Bam just has durability negation with the way his shinsu works, like when he fights Kallavan, known for his strong body, same thing with white and so on.
I would say it has something to do with reverse flow control. Baam at this point was capable to some degree this technique. As an irregular and with his talent it is not to much of a stretch if you think that a part of ureks attack was reversed back to him.
The problem is people think that Baam is just a container. He is an Irregular and the child of TWO of the original Tower climbers, every Irregular has a world-breaking power. We haven't seen both of Baam's yet. He is a container AND something else.
“regular” has more than one meaning in TOG. It can mean simply someone who is also climbing or has already climbed the tower. The FHs are described as regulars even though they are also irregulars.
The problem is even if he lowers his power output his body toughness is still the same, unless he used shinshu to weaken his sturdy body or change the hardness of his body, urek’s body is still strong with or without controlling how much strength he exerts, and it’s not some silly ranker we are talking about or some top 100 or top 20 he was ranked 1st at that time Z was still inactive, and Urek is an irregular himself, well I still think SIU wanted to show bam’s potential and it was a good idea but the way he went about it was just not good.
If any of you have ever played the game league of legends, think of it as true damage. Even though it’s completely insignificant such as only 1 true damage for example, it’s still damage that cannot be blocked no matter how strong the opponent is
Story wise this was necessary for urwk to gain interest in baam i dont think urek was using any defense againt a tegular so i dont think it breaks the scaling weve seen baam power spike while protecting friends
i still think baam damaging Urek that early was to hype baam but knowing the difference between say, that baam even going all out vs current baam who self admittedly would lose to Kallavan and the further difference in power between a family head and kallavan and Urek and a family rubbed me the wrong way.

If i remember this arc correctly, the fight was structure alright. Anyone who thinks its plot hole was nvr paying attention. In that fight urek, was barely using 1% cuz 1)he didn't want to kill the animal, he was protecting that were literally inside and 2) he wasn't supposed to be there, so if he used any real power the administrator would've taken notice.
Urek just used 1% of his power and due to Bam being an irregular with the thorn + amplifying with the butterfly technique that specifically condenses shinsu, leaving a scratch is not unbelievable.

Yes, because Bam didn't know who Urek was, I just finished a re-read of the whole webtoon this week, and Bam clearly thought he and his friends were all gonna die there, while Urek was just having fun, even though he knew anyone in that place was at the very least being sent by enemies.

Another good example would be when Kallavan known for his tough body, is known to be injured by Baam at the end of hell train station or even when Baam's attack power is known for being deadly while Karaka is unable to do the same
I think it’s likely either a special thing like what he did against Hwaryun or just a case of SIU changing how tanky rankers are later on.

I think Urek was barely using much power, otherwise his attack would obliterate Bam when he protected his teammate. So his defense was also probably drastically lowered but still surprising that he got scratched at all by a regular

@@WastedTalent83 still, people getting up in their pants about Bam being able to scratch one of the strongest guys in that world when in most stories of this type the MC instead becomes able to magically defeat the strongest people out of nowhere. People get angry because they speedwatch/speedread/multitask while reading/watching then complain that something doesn't make sense for whatever reason. The funniest part about this specific complaint is that these people are perfect mirror images of all the characters in the webtoon that keep saying "impossible! he's just a regular!".
The way it was written, I don't see how anyone can not realize that Urek was playing around with Bam and the regulars considering his attitude and the fact that he beat multiple rankers in what seemed to be a short time yet wasn't even a little tired. Yet, Bam had trouble with a low ranker, LOVE. The power scaling was very clear.
Yup, but I think the issue people have with that scene/fight/part is that, while they assume Urek powered himself down to not kill Bam and the others, that it was just on his offensive capabilities, when it could have been both and that could have explained the scratch (at least until SIU clarified in the Kallavan blogpost later that Bam has an special power).

Except that the fight with Love was part of a game which Love himself devised, and was suited to his own skills and strengths. 99/100 of these complaints is people selectively applying or removing context from the things they want to compare. If the fight against Love had zero special rules, Bam would've eventually won it without help, because Love's power level wasn't that overwhelming. The fight with Urek was much different with Bam fighting unrestricted, and while thinking all of his friends are gonna die if he loses, because he doesn't know who Urek was, and just felt his massive aura, but Urek is just fooling around, not only is he not fighting seriously, he also doesn't seem the kind who fights to kill against anyone, much less people who are massively weaker than him. And in the fight with Kallavan, there are no restrictions on either side, but the fights are very similar to Luffy vs Doflamingo or Luffy's fights with Big Mom and Kaido, in that a whole team is fighting around him and wearing down the boss before the final clash, even then ofc SIU made it so that the fight with Kallavan ended earlier. Right after that Bam fights White, who can fight Kallavan solo on almost the same footing, but the specifities of that fight make Bam go completely berserk and use all of his power without any restriction, while during the fight with Kallavan he was trying to last as long as possible, and relying on help, on this fight he went all out knowing he wouldn't be helped, even then he got helped in the end when despite all the power he was using, it seemed like he and White were in a stalemate, and Bam would likely run out of stamina first.
Conclusion, most readers are stupid, sorry but that's just how it is. Just because Urek is that strong it doesn't mean he will be fighting all out every single time, if it was Traumerei instead, he would've probably murdered everyone with a strong AoE attack without a second thought, clearly individual personalities matter a lot in these things, and people just get mad that their own expectations/power fantasies don't play out exactly the way they would like them to on someone else's story, of all things...

2-Love was not a bad fighter. What he lacked in overwhelming power he made up for with intelligent strategies. At thus point, Bam was not ready to face a ranker, restrictions or not. He had trouble with low rankers later on I believe.
3-Luffy fought doffy on his own, no one wore him down...Kaido was 90% Luffy and he didn't really fight Big Mom.
4-White could NOT fight Kallavan on equal footings, reread the arc. Also, bam scales above White due to his performance in their fight so if he can't beat Kallavan, White can't.
5-No one here is saying he wss fighting all out.
6-If an author set something up and didn't fulfill it, being upset that their expectations weren't met is reasonable though, that didn't happen in this case.

I didn't know people considered it a plot hole. When reading it I always saw it as a mysterious irregular thing and seems like sui said himself he didn't explain it well which just confirms that for me ig. Perhaps we'll get more info about this later on

It’s similar to other magic systems like Spiritual Pressure in bleach, or Ki in dragon ball.
For example, there’s this one part in dragon ball Z where krillin throws a rock at goku’s head, expecting him to not be injured at all by it. To his surprise though, goku still absolutely felt the pain from the rock, as his guard was down despite him being a super saiyan at the time. This leads me to believe that the concept of Ki is what defines strength in dragon ball (regardless of how inconsistent it may be). A person with their guard lowered has the same amount of defense as a normal human.
So yes, I think I agree with your assessment. If shinsu as a magic system works similar to Ki, then that means Urek simply had his guard down, as he thought that an E rank regular would never have a chance in harming him.

I've felt that it was more a sign in the nature of what Baam's power was, further developed or expounded upon with his fights with Kallavan. Kallavan noted in his fight with Baam that most Rankers and High Rankers could not even scratch him (Kallavan), yet Baam could damage him despite being much weaker.
Perhaps it is a display of the nature of Baam's power as an Irregular, unconsciously while fighting Urek and moving towards consciously while fighting Kallavan, to defy the rules of the Tower?
That's exactly what it is, it has been introduced since at least the first Revolution Road in S3, Bam has access to a special type of Shinsu quality that only irregulars use, it's what allows him to use Shinsu Blackhole Sphere, which is the base technique with which he can harm all these insanely strong guys, even if his attacks are weaker. Karaka, and even White, might be much stronger than him (for now), but they're not irregulars, they do not possess any ability or quality that defies the Tower's restrictions.

I never really saw it as a problem, since it's not like Urek was taking things seriously. Also, back then, Tower of God was waaaaaayyyyyyy less about fights or power-scaling, so we didn't have any great sense of scale to judge it by compared to now.
As for judging it through a modern lens(I've said the same for when Baam fought Kallavan), I like to explain it kind of like if ToG were an RPG, Baam basically ignores an opponent's defense stats as an Irregular.

From around then on i have always doubted any time someone starts with 'SIU said he regrets' because it's almost always false, the only things i've seen in his blog that he said he regrets is certain character designs but even those were lighthearted jokes not meant to be taken seriously.

yeah this scene always seemed pretty straightforward to me. Urek isn't trying so his guard is completely lowered cause he's fighting E-rank regulars. Baam, being an irregular and having awesome shinsu powers, in the moment of trying to protect his friends is able to use protective shinsu that leaves a small cute on Urek's face. it really isn't that hard to understand. it's the same way the shinsu protected Baam vs Hwa Ryun in the crown game. Baam was revived by the god of the outside and likely has a "truer" ability to control shinsu than anyone else in the tower, including other irregulars. that's what these moments are trying to illustrate. there's no plot hole whatsoever. the bigger issues are later on when he's fighting people like Karaka who are full on high rankers and actively trying to kill him and there's no way he's on their level of power yet and shouldn't even be able to fight back at all.
Good point about Baam vs Hwaryun. Compare it to the Phantaminum vs Enryu ranking argument: Baam damaging Mazino is like Enryu defeating an administrator - It's miraculous but at least people can comprehend it. But nobody could even comprehend Phantaminum's power, just like nobody could comprehend what Baam did to Hwaryun. They said it was like shinsu defended him of its own accord. It violates the rules of the tower more so than Baam damaging Urek, however unlikely.
people just forget.. its a fantasy world, with "rules" that get broken like, ALL the times by irregulars. why would bam being an irregular be different and be no exception?
For me the power that baam uses at this time against Urek is the power of the sun and the fact that SIU say that Baam uses his true power at this time comforts me in my theory

I think it has less to do with his output of power and more to do with the quality of his power, it has been stated many time that viole's shinsu is fundamentally different from others in the tower and in fact his power closely resembles a family head or urek himself.
I’ve just kind of accepted that it’s part of Baam being special. Similar to how when against Kallavan, Karaka said that he can block Kallavan for Baam to find an opening, because Baam could injure him when Karaka couldn’t. I know Baam didn’t have the RT back then when he scratched Urek, but it’s the best I’ve got lol
I don't think it's a plot hole, we've seen what shinsu black hole does, and bam seems to have good instincts and controls power subconsciously (he did woth hwaryun and data jahad (breaking the sphere to shield himself). I think bam subconscious defended himself with shinsu black hole, allowing for injuring urek.
Hold on, that doesn't make sense, shinsu probably but not blackholesphere since he only learned that on the hell train and even then it took him like a month at least to learn it.
it s like those moments in one piece when Vista/Croc clashed a bit with Mihawk or Marco with admirals and BM but in reality there is a significant difference in power.

I started reading tog in either 2013 or 2014, it’s been the only manga I’ve kept up with the longest.
Dr Bonehead - "Bam is physically tough"
Jahad sneaking into the Hidden Floor - "Hmmmm ill see about that"

That was obvious what SIU was trying to show , Urek knew they were regular and for him he could sleep and fart and kill them.
Baam probably used some kind of shield he used while Urek was f*cking around. He barely managed to scratch with all his power while Urek was not even using 1% of his power and probably 0.0001%.
But then he later learned that Baam was not normal due to the fact he injured him because no regular could have done that kind of ''attack'' at that lvl where Baam and the other was.
I get it some people portrait it as a mistake , but Urek is a goofy guy who thinks hes strongest and can't really find any challenge.
He literally did beat in a fight the strongest Family head on Floor 100 while he was climbing. That scratch is just a way to show Baam will devour everything in the tower.

Its very instresting to watch this video and think about this, after last episode of the animation this sunday. They kept the scratch, so I dont think it is a SIU mistake at all, since he choose to kept it in the animation. But we have Urek even mentioning something like "Oh so it wasnt only for defense?", that I assume it was him talking about the thorn???? That ability that Bam have that appeared protecting him in some scenes, the red skeleton thing. I think Urek saw that Bam have that all along, and though it was a defensive ability, but without noticing at the time, that ability was able to hurt him, maybe he droped his guard a lil bit by thinking that was a mere defensive ability. But well, thats only my opnion. For sure Urek wasnt using all his power in that fight, but I also hope that in the animated series as a whole they try to lower the power scale a lil bit, because that is one of the problems that got out of control in TOG in my opnion.
We also gotta consider that at this point of the story Bam was being hyped up in general like crazy, stuff like how he's close to a ranker and stuff

A lot of Bams techniques are specifically designed to piece resistances that's like the whole point of the floral butterfly techniques is that the punch through shinsu and physical resistances easier it's the whole reason why him and karaka can even hurt kallavan where other people just get bulldozed by him
My only question - by what means Baam scratch 2 characters when he not even attacked in those spots (eye for 1 chara and cheek for Urek)

The way I see it... There are tiers. The highest known tier are zahard and urek which stand above the family heads. They're probably several times more powerful then any of the family heads. Then the remaining top 20 rankera/fh are each probably an order of magnitude or two stronger than literally any other low level high rankers... Remember traumeri wiped out a fug elder, jinsung ha, bam, white, yasratcha, etc. Without even trying. Then the rest of the high rankers are an order of magnitude more powerful than advanced rankers who are similarly an order of magnitude or two stronger than regular weak rankers. When bam fought urek he wasn't tanker level yet. So we have to account for 5-6 orders of magnitude or more of power ....a better analogy would be a common ant fighting a power lifter. Unless urek were sleeping it would be impossible for bam to even slightly hurt him.
Its not a problem in my opinion even if it is a plot hole cause back then the power scaling wasnt that defined and no matter how much of a genius SIU is there is no way he could know where his future self would take things this concretely....It's hype i'm cool with it
Not true... from the very beginning when he explained about the 10GW in his old blogposts, he describe pretty accurately their power, compare to what we are seeing from them currently.

They need to show a flashback of Enryu so we know what immense power he had killing the administrator. Then show Urek's power in like the 90s. That'll give us a comparison. I'd say Phantaminum but not until they start getting to the top. SIU didn't include much information but what we do know is outrageous. Nobody knew what his weapon was; only that it killed hundreds of guards and made the rest go mad. Just the attack. Not his conversation with Jahad or Yuri, yet.
He probably told Jahad he wrote the past, present and future and Bam would be the one to kill him. Just to drive him mad since Jahad would have nothing on an axis user

I must admit that there is one thing that always bothered me about Urek's first appearance. I'm not talking about his fight against Bam/Viole but about his fight against the two rangers who tried to catch him when he left the Zigena's body. He used HIS ARM to knock them out. HIS ARM. And after that he only used one finger against Karaka. That, in my opinion, is the biggest incoherence when it comes to power scale in ToG. (Now i'm not saying that he actually used his whole arm, it was just an attack and we don't really know what kind of attack it was, but when you look at the panels it looks like he used his arm, so I thought it was funny... And I pitied the rankers)

Its shown the urek cant use shinsu when facing hell joe bc hell joe has control over the shinsu due to having the red thressa (no idea how to spell that) because its a small piece of the administrator. If thats the case why was Enyru able to use shinsu when facing against the administrator?

I agree that there is a big difference between passive durability and one reinforced with shinsu , and the examples you brought within the story are pretty good , but I still consider this a mistake exactly because we are speaking of Urek. High ranker + irregular + being top 2 (or top 5 at the very least) power wise. If we were to give a numeric value to defence, I'd say Urek has 1000 passive defence while Bam's strongest attack at that point could at most do 100 damage. Just my opinion, but it would take something akin to stardust from data Jahad vs Bam to finally do some damage to Urek.

Been playing tower of god M and its actually a really fun gatcha and has been pretty f2p freindly to me.
It's been over a year since I read the Webtoon regardless it would be interesting if someone could become Shinsoo or rather apart of it well Regardless The Irregulars really do have Crazy Potential and power
Bam just has durability negation with the way his shinsu works, like when he fights Kallavan, known for his strong body, same thing with white and so on.
I would say it has something to do with reverse flow control. Baam at this point was capable to some degree this technique. As an irregular and with his talent it is not to much of a stretch if you think that a part of ureks attack was reversed back to him.

The problem is people think that Baam is just a container. He is an Irregular and the child of TWO of the original Tower climbers, every Irregular has a world-breaking power. We haven't seen both of Baam's yet. He is a container AND something else.

“regular” has more than one meaning in TOG. It can mean simply someone who is also climbing or has already climbed the tower. The FHs are described as regulars even though they are also irregulars.
The problem is even if he lowers his power output his body toughness is still the same, unless he used shinshu to weaken his sturdy body or change the hardness of his body, urek’s body is still strong with or without controlling how much strength he exerts, and it’s not some silly ranker we are talking about or some top 100 or top 20 he was ranked 1st at that time Z was still inactive, and Urek is an irregular himself, well I still think SIU wanted to show bam’s potential and it was a good idea but the way he went about it was just not good.

If any of you have ever played the game league of legends, think of it as true damage. Even though it’s completely insignificant such as only 1 true damage for example, it’s still damage that cannot be blocked no matter how strong the opponent is

i still think baam damaging Urek that early was to hype baam but knowing the difference between say, that baam even going all out vs current baam who self admittedly would lose to Kallavan and the further difference in power between a family head and kallavan and Urek and a family rubbed me the wrong way.

If i remember this arc correctly, the fight was structure alright. Anyone who thinks its plot hole was nvr paying attention. In that fight urek, was barely using 1% cuz 1)he didn't want to kill the animal, he was protecting that were literally inside and 2) he wasn't supposed to be there, so if he used any real power the administrator would've taken notice.
Urek just used 1% of his power and due to Bam being an irregular with the thorn + amplifying with the butterfly technique that specifically condenses shinsu, leaving a scratch is not unbelievable.
