I know it’s not exactly your style, but I would appreciate a deeper dive into outrun and synthwave. While I don’t think it’s as diverse as vapor wave, I do think there are interesting facets to it, such as darksynth or chillwave.
I call the main, parent, genre "retrowave" because sythwave kinda has its own sound like darksynth. And while you may be right about the scale compared to each other, vaporwave does have a bunch of weird stuff like pretty much slamming a keyboard and calling it done. (which is as vaporwave as it gets, but that just means its a joke in the literal sense. It's beginnings were rebellious in the form of abstract, which doesn't really say much. But it did gain more, stable and enjoyable genres like future funk or whatever sonyboogie belongs too. Eventhough many people claim vaporwave to be dead by now, it is still kinda haunting media with the influence it has on other subgenres and popular media.
Personally, I don't consider lofi hip hop as a subgenre of vaporwave. Although it takes a lot of its aesthetics from vaporwave, it's more heavily based on jazz and hip hop, as heard by the acoustic instruments, hip-hop samples, and jazz-like chords they're composed of. The ideology of lofi hip hop also fits better with the chill, existential, and nihilistic thought processes of other city/alt lofi movements. I find it really interesting how people have classified each of these subgenres.
I don’t either. They’ve had some influence on eachother but aren’t related. I mentioned Lofi Hiphop because if you Google search «late night lofi» you get mostly lofi hiphop results and not the vaporwave subgenre

i used to be only into future funk specifically after finding macross 82-99's music for the first time but slowly i found the sources of the used samples in the music i listened to and that led me into city pop which eventually led me into almost all the mentioned genres in this video. still only into late night lofi, future funk and anything that isnt heavily distorted tho
Well.. they are. It's the same like you can ofc say "Metal" to all its subgenres like "Thrashmetal, Deathmetal, Blackmetal, Metalcore, ...". So yeah, it's all Vaporwave, it's just different subgenres/categories of Vaporwave.
Great Vid, I never was too good differentiating sub-genres. All i knew is if i like it, i don't really care what its called. But what you said towards the end makes sense about knowing where to look for similar music. Also it was great learning about the different yet over-lapping graphic/visual motifs, themes, AESTHETICS found in vaporwave.
Thank you for making this!!! I got into Vaporwave because of City Pop (Plastic Love & Mystical Composer) and have always wondered what it actually is? @@PINKAS1 weird flex, but okay
this was so informative, and i discovered so much from this, thank you!
Thank you my dude!
Synthwave is clearly superior because it has, HOME RESONANCE
Its not Sythwave, Its closer to Vaporwave, very nostalgic, it could be catagorized as Chillwave.
@@corespark7956 it's too synthetic to be vaporwave.
@@corespark7956 yeah it's definitely synthwave what do you mean lol? I'm not sure with the chillwave since I'm not to educated but it's definitely synthwave
So... Chillwave is a sub genre of Sythwave then?
@@corespark7956 I'm not too well versed in synth and much other than vaporwave but no I think it'd be the other way around
Thank you for educating me, I'm a huge vaporwave (and synthwave) fan, but I had no idea there were so many subgenres and so many differences between them
That face when your kid is a vaporware
"it's not a phase, dad..."
"it's your move "
This is the first video I've seen that actually tries to show examples of genres, instead of floating catchy names with no reference. Good stuff.
Cheers! Yeah I saw a couple of those, that's why I made this vid
Do a video on Nujabes. You can see Aruarian dance at 4:51. Please like my comment so he can see.
As promised this video was great. Good work PINKAS
Nice breaking bad reference
Thank you, I feel like no one got it
Hey, As an "pro" fan of Vaporwave, you really did a good job. You explained things that even i couldn't explain ti my friends. Now i could send them this to show them the coolness of Vaporwave!

I see you’re a man if culture as well
i aready knew of these but ty fr making this
Who are the 6 people who disliked this
Maybe they had bad aim.
i used to be only into future funk specifically after finding macross 82-99's music for the first time but slowly i found the sources of the used samples in the music i listened to and that led me into city pop which eventually led me into almost all the mentioned genres in this video. still only into late night lofi, future funk and anything that isnt heavily distorted tho
Fashwave?
Based and redpilled
Practically vaporwave with a different source material and would almost fall into vapormeme and it's a taboo 'genre'
@@suncityranger1115
Its very fast and powerful
Unlike vaporwave
@@mustfaaboassd could you guide me to some examples maybe I can see what you're talking about and what do you mean powerful

captivated by this video, had to keep going back to watch again. Thank you
vaporwave becoming a meme nearly killed the music...
MY DUDE, Great Video !! Really made my week.
Bless your soul for the effort and time you spend on this.
Thank you for the kind comment, glad to have you here!
I thought all songs like this were just vaporwave
Well.. they are. It's the same like you can ofc say "Metal" to all its subgenres like "Thrashmetal, Deathmetal, Blackmetal, Metalcore, ...". So yeah, it's all Vaporwave, it's just different subgenres/categories of Vaporwave.
Best Video!! wow man, rly nice Info!!
elias busto wow, thank you man!
lol these accounts lololololol xD i rly love vaporwave and sex ,thats all i need in my life.♥
very thankful to have been able to experience this amazing piece of content
you're a legend
Thanks for the kind words Fred
Great Vid, I never was too good differentiating sub-genres. All i knew is if i like it, i don't really care what its called. But what you said towards the end makes sense about knowing where to look for similar music. Also it was great learning about the different yet over-lapping graphic/visual motifs, themes, AESTHETICS found in vaporwave.
Thank you for making this!!! I got into Vaporwave because of City Pop (Plastic Love & Mystical Composer) and have always wondered what it actually is? I’m a huge French House and Synthwave music fan so it makes me happy to know it is somehow near each but not really. I’m definitely checking that playlist out! 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Thank you for reminding me about Yes We're Open!
Fantastic. Seminal. Thank you sir.
Thank you kind sir, my pleasure!
