  • Which OLED is Better? MSI MAG 271QPX Vs MPG 271QRX QD OLED GEN 3
Today we have the MSI QD OLED GEN 3 27" monitor showdown. Which OLED is Better? MSI MAG 271QPX Vs. MPG 271QRX.
No matter which MSI monitor version you buy... You will still get an amazing QD OLED Gen 3 display. SDR & HDR are exactly the same on both.
So if your country does not have the MPG or its sold out the MAG is still a great option.
The Build quality on the MAG is surprisingly good. Other than the generic cardboard box (MAG), everything is the same. The MPG box sure does look vibrant and quality vs. the MAG.
Brightness is basically the same on both but my light meter is showing 3-5nit increase on the MAG version.
The main differences are that the MPG has a 90w power delivery vs. 15w on the MAG and Firmware updates are possible only on the MPG line (according to MSI). The good thing is that the MAG has had no issues so far when comparing. Also, the MPG has a KVM switch.

Pretty sure they're identical basically except firmware updates and price. If you're fine with the current issues save the money. I would go mpg tho because of the white line flicker issue and having to hit the button every time pixel refresh runs. Both hopefully get fixed in fw update. Brightness is obv due to panel variance with the same firmware.

Hi Viktor, have you noticed any eye strain issues with these monitors? I ended up returning my MAG 271QPX today. It makes me sad because it was the most beautiful monitor I've ever used. Amazing colors, black levels, motion clarity, refresh rate and responsiveness. But anytime I would use the monitor for more that half an hour, my eyes would start to get so unbelievably fatigued. Been using the monitor nearly every day for about a month and the eye strain just kept getting worse and worse, and it's felt like the eye strain has been hurting my vision even outside of using the monitor. Unlike any sort of eye strain that I've experienced before. I switched back to my LG-GP850 IPS monitor today, and I can instantly tell that the eye strain issues aren't there. I was just curious if you had any opinion / input about this.

@nyjay yes, I ran it multiple times. I had over 100hrs on the monitor and they did not go away. You're right, I believe mine was a factory defect. I returned it and l didn't want to chance it so I went for the MAG. The GS was a bit brighter and the matte coating did not bother me at all; however, the colors are way better on the MAG and 360hz and cheaper, so I'm happy now.

Look at all that Black Crush on these Oleds, personally I'm not buying an OLED gaming Monitor with low peak brightness 🔆, TCL & Hisense are gon to release Full Array Local Dim Mini Led Gaming Monitors with amazing peak brightness 🔆 and I'm definitely going to purchase one of those. Most of the monitors that are being sold right now have a average peak brightness 🔆 and black crush is a thing with OLEDs. I have 4 Oled tvs I even have a QD-OLED Samsung S95B & it has black crush (lose of detail on dark scenes) I understand that pitch black colors look sick but when were watching content on a display we're not watching pitch black backgrounds most of the time were watching colorful scenes, with Led we had a hard time seeing enemies in the dark in games like Cod now with OLEDs is gon to be worse especially with low brightness 🔆 Oleds. I also was obsessed with OLEDs because of the infinite contrast but now days Mini Led panels with local dim tech have come so close to Oleds that it may be the better choice because like I said when we watch content we're not watching pitch black backgrounds and even Mini Leds deliver Oled experience now days just take a look at the Hisense U8N....
