The lack of firmware update sucks but the fact that the asus variant is priced at 1800 euros in the EU outside of the 1500 euro EU launch price makes this deal attractive. It's literally cheaper to buy 2 of these monitors than a single asus monitor with the same panel.

These are all of the issues I experienced with this POS monitor . The MSI Mag 321upx Qd-Oled overview and major issues⬇️
Packaging- First off everything was nicely wrapped in a thin layer of foam protection. No damage at all but for everyone hoping there would be a plastic peel on screen there is NONE. Thank god there’s no damage or scratches.
Set up- This is where the issues start and there’s a long list of them.
In the box they include a hdmi 2.1 high speed cable but no DP 1.4 cable so small bummer b/c I’m running this on a PC not a console . Not a big deal though because I have a couple on hand. I first tried the included hdmi 2.1 cable and connected this to my 4090 to start messing with the settings. First thing I noticed was it was not detected in my multiple monitor set up. In the nvidia control panel I had to disconnect my LG CX for this to become detectable . Also it was stuck @120 hertz in the dual monitor mode and the 240 hertz was not an option.
G-Sync / Adaptive Sync Major issues- As you can see in the photo this is not a g-sync compatible monitor. I guess this can be easily fixed by nvidia I’m just wondering BEING THERE ARE NO firmware updates for the 321 UPX if this is even possible in the future to get G-Sync working properly?
With Adaptive Sync turned on and g sync off I had smoother performance but latency was noticed greatly and the flickering was the worse I’ve ever seen on a monitor . While monitoring the panels frame counter and my pc’s hertz it was obvious the issues were stimming from the a-sync. It would steadily hold at 60 hertz and shoot up to 240 hertz back and forth a couple times in one to two seconds causing this flickering.
The biggest deal breaker and why I might take a hammer to this and say fed ex messed up , “I’m joking “ but seriously there is an issue when changing HDR mode in game . While I have a game loaded if I change the HDR setting in the monitors OSD to find the best image on a game to game basis I changed the true black 400 mode to Peak 1000 mode , this causes my whole PC TO CRASH.
It gives me a windows 11 error code and completely turns off my computer, all while the monitor is flashing random colors. I’ve had to do a complete factory settings reset in the monitor OSD 3 times to fix this issue.
    What’s worked ?
The setting I currently have it in is Gamer Mode USER. HDR ON. A/Sync off . HDMI 2.1.. Peak 1000.
This is the only usable option I’ve found that looks decent, brightness isn’t terrible in this mode, no flickering, obviously no g sync support or vrr. Overall massive disappointment and unless I can find some work arounds to get g sync working and adaptive sync working with no flickering I’ll be returning this very soon.
Sorry if I ruined expectations for anyone wanting this monitor. I wanted so much for this monitor to be great for it’s great price and to meet my expectations by at least matching the Alienware 3225QF that I returned a couple weeks ago.
The issues I had with the Alienware were nothing compared to this and for brightness the AW was a lot brighter in full screen but also highlight brightness. I know $900 sounds like a good deal when thinking about the Qd Oled panel you’re getting but I wouldn’t pay $500 for this monitor and I’m not being sarcastic when I say that. The biggest bummer of all none of these issues can be fixed with a firmware update.
Good job MSI you’ve managed to mess up one of the best panels made in the last 10 years .

I mean, I currently have dual 32 inch 60 Hz refresh HD monitor for my set up. Yes it is a 1080P monitor and it's a big 32 inch display so you could see the pixels. Definitely thinking about upgrading to a better monitor and this one was perfect because l did not want to compromise on the size of the display but at the same time I want a good quality display with high refresh rate. And this monitor fits everything 32 inches, 4K, 240 so high refresh rate.
But the cherry on top is the fact that it's an OLED which is a big deal because I can't get over the fact that my main monitors for my main gaming PC set up are not sharp. And for other people, maybe they don't really care or can't even tell the difference but I could tell the difference due to the fact that I do daily drive a 15 ProMax, 23 M3 Max MacBook Pro 16in, 24 iPad Pro 13in, and an Ultra Watch. All these have OLED displays and definitely there's a big difference between OLED and a regular non OLED display. But the price might be a little steep, but I'll probably just buy one out of the two monitors and it will be my main monitor out of the 2. 😊

Imo the thought process here kinda misses the mark.. People buying an OLED monitor don't care about 100,200,300 $$ savings.. I don't think anyone can support that statement with basic logic.. Which means this is probably the worst monitor option out there..I mean you say it yourself in the video, you WOULDN't recommend this monitor except now you do because its $900 and not 1,100 or 1,200?
Anyone trying to run this 4k panel at anywhere close to 240 refresh rate needs to have a 4090 and top CPU.. So again, we already have 5k+ pc builds..1-300 dollars is irrelevant..
hey but by all means, "if you see this thing, pull the trigger and buy it" "affiliate link in description"... My dude, you can't even hook up a PS5 to this thing to get 120hz.

@@raphzyyyy where are you pulling those numbers from? the AW costs 1140EUR in Italy vs. 1499EUR for the Asus. it's nearly identical for Germany and I assume the rest of EU, so the difference is around 360EUR, not 600EUR.

    • @raphzyyyy
      @raphzyyyy 5 месяцев назад

Sorry my bad, In Germany the Alienware is 1119€, and the Asus is 1699€ on their own website, with a currently discounted price of 1499€, and most other websites listing it as 1699€, though there are some with a slightly lower price.
I took that price to compare as that was the normal price without discounts, being fair to the Alienware where I also took a non-discounted price. In the end 500€ not 600€ difference, my bad. :)
Another important thing to keep in mind tho is that at the Moment the Alienware is the only one available for me, so IDK if the price might change for the other models.
In the end, i still think that it might be justified spending an extra 100 to MAX 200€ for a different variant of the panel (if the extra features are worth it to you), but even 360€ or worse 500€, for pretty much the same panel just with slightly different features and design is not justified or worth it in any way. If in a few months prices get better than going for the ASUS or MSI might be an option, but for now I'd say the Alienware is still the best option. Another thing is that if you're waiting 6mo to 1y for prices to drop, than by then there will probably already be new improved OLEDs.
Btw, i ordered my Alienware for 950€ which i believe to be completely worth it, especially considering the ASUS and MSI are essentially the same panel but for quite a bit more money.

Hello, I have got a question so I'm looking at buying a new monitor. I currently have a 48 in Monitor from gigabyte and it is starting to show signs of image burn so looking at getting a new Montor I also run a second monitor at 32 in just a BenQ. So, I'm looking at doing an upgrade and I'm looking at either the 57" Odyssey Neo G9 or The Gigabyte S55U Or even the Alienware 55 in UHD AW5520FF. I've been looking at the reviews and I really kind of like Alienware but it doesn't support HDR. I'm running an I-9 14900k and an RTX 3090 Founders Edition. thoughts and recommendations please

i just snagged a great deal on a used 321upx for only $675, so i think it will definitely be worth the trade-off for no firmware updates, but maybe it will get it eventually anyway?? i say that because my current monitor is the alienware aw3423dw which wasn't supposed to have any new firmware support, but in fact they did eventually release a firmware update available to download, so maybe msi will do the same
