Dude, your settings have transformed my G9 oled! HDMI finally clips at 1000 nits on high peak brightness and the colors finally POP like an OLED should. You are the best!
Thank you so very much. I have mid-stage Parkinson's disease and recently started regularly having tremors in my fingers. Having a lot of time on my hands, I'm trying my hand at gaming to try to keep my dexterity. Bought a gaming PC and have this monitor, still trying to figure everything out, but your videos have helped me tremendously and I am very grateful.😊
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis, not sure if you're familiar with Lions Mane mushroom? There is evidence to suggest it can prevent or even slow progression due to regenerating and preserving neurons. Worth doing some research and giving a try. I wish you the best of luck.
I'm able to run Gsync on Displayport with no issues but I made sure to use the cable included with the monitor, other than that your settings really helped improve my picture quality so thanks!
I am going to swap my two-monitor setup for a G9 OLED pretty soon and currently watching my way through all the content I can find. I have to say that this is perhaps the most helpful video I've seen, thank you for this detailed and honest overview!
I actually caved and brought the G9 QD-OLED on Amazon (while it was on a great sale!) almost 2 weeks now! It came very next day and setup was kinda straight forward. I’m really loving the monitor thus far. While my monitor updated itself (😩 Samsung always removing features) I don’t believe I can adjust peak brightness for SDR (least while an image is onscreen) on FW 1310. I have since turned auto update off. Overall, I absolutely love the 32:9 aspect ratio. While I initially wanted the 45 Corsair Xeneon Flex model, for the price I got the Samsung and the overall (potentially) better 2nd gen QD display, I’m certainly not losing any sleep over not having the prior. I know I wasn’t paying $1900 for ANY monitor, regardless how nice of PQ quality. For the price and the absolute gorgeous display of the Samsung, it simply can’t be beat.
Awesome video! However, I have a burn-in anecdote. I typically turn the monitor off when I'm done using the computer. One time, when I left for a few days, I forgot to do this AND I forgot to disconnect my remote desktop from the computer in the city I was in. When I got home, I was horrified to see my g9 oled on and in remote desktop view. I knew for a fact that I just burned the remote view picture into the monitor because it had been showing the stagnant screen for over a day. I've never been so happy to be wrong. I have not found a single sign of burn-in. These things are pretty fucking resilient.
Love the video can't wait to try out the settings you gave! Just got it last week, never had an OLED before, and I have been searching and searching for answer to this but, what can be done about the heat it outputs, mine usually sits around 95-105, with a peak of 110F on a hot spot, can not seem to find a solution for this, or if this is just normal/okay
I've never checked the temp from mine so not sure what's considered normal but I do notice it gives off quite a bit of heat in the back. Just to be safe I would reach out to Samsung to make sure that's not out of the norm, but as long as it has enough room to breathe I would say its okay
I got this monitor not too long ago and I found most of your settings are actually defaulted now bar brightness(max out of the box) and the colour tone(Natural is just default at 0 across the board). I used the standard colour calibration - HDR calibration doesn't appear on Windows 10 for me for some reason - and it looks fine. I'm using the DP cable that came with it and haven't experienced any issues but some options are greyed out for me so I do wonder if this is a setting I've enabled somewhere separately or because it's DP instead of HDMI(I've heard from different sources that DP is better and delivers higher picture quality, something about transfer speeds being faster still on DP rather than HDMI). I'm with you re recommendation of this monitor to others: Don't buy it if you're at all hesitant at dropping this kind of money on a monitor. It's a big monitor, looks great, feels premium and, honestly, old games look absolutely amazing on it(Surprisingly a lot of older games support 5120x1440p) and FPS games like Battlefield look and feel very good. Older games look a lot newer, a lot better and it pretty much gives them a new lease of life which really surprised me. The major negative is it's just too costly and you're going to have that OLED burn in question hanging over your head. 1,000 bucks or more is a big price tag that shouldn't be taken lightly. For the burn in I changed some settings for static objects such as the task bar: This is set to hide. Pixel Shift(Monitor setting) is on(It literally shifts the screen up/down and to the right/left) every few minutes. I've not noticed it while actively using the screen but I've noticed it if I'm staring at the screen on my desktop. I also set windows to turn off the screen after 15minutes of inactivity. If you're using your monitor for gaming where there's a lot of movement you generally shouldn't have to worry about burn-in but if you're using it more for productivity for hours upon hours on end I'd be very worried to use the monitor. For me: Gaming = Yes / Productivity = In limited quantities.
Finally, and probably the ONLY video I came across that was of real helpful worth. Awesome video, thank you! Thumbs up, new sub and especially because you didn't ask for it.
Awesome video. I’m running a 2060 super on this oled monitor. Was having issues at first setting it up. Finally got it dialed in. Using Display port at it’s running smoothly on 240hz with Warzone, F1, Fornite & Horizon. Downside is frames dropped quite a bit. But still looks a lot better than 144hz. I’m still going to upgrade my GPU though.
Great video 👍. I have a few questions that I hope you may have answers to 🙂. I like to use Gsync. Samsung says that you MUST use DisplayPort for this and that it is not compatible with HDMI. Do you have any feedback on this? Do you not have Gsync on in Nvidia Control Panel with your HDMI cable? Game Mode seems to automatically switch on Gsync compatibility (adaptive sync). Should you also have VRR switched on too? I am confused as to why this setting is optional.
@@waynestorton1875 I use gsync with HDMI, I think it wasn’t officially gsync compatible at first but it is now. The reason you would want VRR off is because it causes a weird flickering with OLED monitors because of how fast the response time of the pixels are. Some monitors are better with this than others, and some people are more sensitive to it than others. My advice is to try both. If you’re having severe screen tearing then turn VRR on. If VRR is on and you’re experiencing what they call “VRR flicker” and it’s bothersome, then turn it off. Personally I don’t notice the flicker in game so I have VRR on for gaming, but while using a photo or video editing program it’s much more noticeable so I turn it off.
Thanks for your review, I bought the monitor on a Amazon sale a week ago, beautiful monitor especially for the sale price $1100 in stead of the normal 1800.00. I had the random black screen when i hooked it up to my home laptop, which is a Alienware gaming laptop I use for graphic and 3d development, no gaming. i installed better cables and made the changes you showed yesterday, so far so good. One thing I did notice is that when I hook it up to my work laptop which is a DELL workstation with a Nvidia workstation card, no problem, no black screen at all, even got it hooked to the display port. no problems so far.
If you are a gamer go with the SC93 version instead of the SC95 he uses. No smartTV stuff, no remote, no laggy tizen OS, less cost. DP works totally fine on mine.
Wow, really well thought out!. I just got it since it was $700 off. It would have been cool your thoughts on color grading for video & photo editing, remote button and short cuts between tv and workspace, and picture by picture settings since it'll have to be DP and HDMI. I'm starting to realize the msrp they're asking, there are several things with this monitor that I wish could be better like speakers, easier UI and easy functionality and flexibility between media. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this helpful video! In the multi view screen, I would like to put Samsung TV playing on one side and have my computer screen shown on the other half. I was able to do this by customizing the multi view settings. However, I cannot seem to put Samsung TV on the right half of the screen. I can only put Samsung TV on the left side of the screen. When I try to manually place it on the right side by putting my computer screen on the left side, the monitor disables (dims) the Samsung TV so I can't select it to show it on the right side. Do you happen to know how to fix this by any chance?
I don't unfortunately. Only thing I can think of is it has something to do with the ABL but then it wouldn't make sense why it only happens on one side. Best of luck!
Great video, thanks. I didn't have any issues with a DP cable, surprised to hear about that. Point of constructive criticism: the animated crumpled white paper background you used in parts of the video was distracting and too busy.
Loved the honesty at the end. Still gonna pick one up at Microcenter tomorrow and come back to this video! Just ordered a cable from your list. Thanks!
is it posible to use only small portion of the screen to save energy and the OLED itself? Let's say using the middle of the screen as regualr 1080p screen
yes, but you would end up burning in the middle of the screen faster and have noticeable lines where the box is that you're playing in, so its best to just use the whole screen so you "burn in" the pixels evenly, which will result in you not noticing the burn in because the usage is spread out
@@chettystudios can it be done with hardware support form the monitor, or we are talking about resizing the output in the software/OS? Makes sense though it still saves energy and possible is more comfortable in specific situations.
That’s a good question, not technically that I’m aware of, but the settings do save to game mode and non-game mode separately so you could always use game mode off for the Mac and game mode on for the gaming rig and it should act like two different profiles if I’m not mistaken
Thanks so much for the settings tips. Mine arrives tomorrow. I got a really good sale price and Im hoping with the help of your videos that I dont run into too many issues. Question. Does it come with a good HDMI 2.1 cable or do you recommend getting one from a 3rd party?
Screen saver with motion is fine, I would still avoid any bright screensavers and best practice would be to set a timer for the screen saver to switch to a different one every few minutes. Typically I don't even do that, I just switch my screen saver every so often, and when I know I'm stepping away for more then 5/10 minutes I'll just shut the monitor off until I come back.
@chettystudios awesome thank you, got this monitor on sale with prime day but it's the most I've ever spent on one. If I watchd your video first I probably wouldve bought something else but im gonna use your tips to make the most of it 🙏
What cable do you recommend? Also I have problems with playing games maybe you have answer for it. Sometimes when I play games for example call of duty, after a match is done my screen will turn black but I can still hear the audio in the background any idea what that might be? Thank you
@@christophergarza3482 that sounds like a cable issue, I recommend any that are “active” cables. You can search them online, they essentially are powered cables rather than just passively transferring the data
Hey, building my 1st PC. I already have the Asus Rog Strix 4090, waiting on the parts. Should I opt for a different monitor with that card? I would like to play in 4k but if this monitor is nearly the same as, well. What do you think. Breat review btw. Thank you. All the other reviews are so “nearly sponsored” and reddit is so the opposite it’s hard to get a read.
In my opinion this one because oled just looks so damn good. But your clearly want to spend money on this setup so Samsungs newest neo is this but in 4k, it’s 7680x2160 so 2 4k monitors beside each other, it’s around $3k I believe but if you really want resolution it’s great. I still personally recommend this one though there’s really nothing that comes close to oled in terms of quality.
I second that I would definitely stick with OLED. If 4k is what you’re looking for there’s also quite a few coming out/already released this year in the 32” variant if you’re not already 100% set on UW that are worth taking a look at as well
If you can afford both, for the 4090 I'd recommend 65" or 77" 16:9 4K OLED that can do 120hz, for big screen/couch gaming. And for gaming with a mouse/keyboard at a desk, go with this G9 as you can't beat the 240Hz and superultrawide 5120x1440 32:9 resolution. Personally for gaming, I do prefer the extra width especially for FPS and strategy games, however for more cinematic games or 3rd person games, I like the big TV and additional vertical resolution. The pixel density from 1440p vs 4k is noticeable, however it's not a huge deal even sitting close to the monitor, it's a much wider gap from 1080p to 1440p. 4k does offer that bit of extra clarity, especially on a small monitor to where anti-aliasing type in games doesn't really matter anymore, but the extra width is a lot more immersive as the screen fills your whole field of view which does kinda suck you into the game when sitting close in a way a TV can't. If you really wanna hold out for a true 4K 32:9 OLED monitor, rumors are that next year Samsung will release an OLED with that ungodly double 4k resolution of 7680x2160, as they currently have a 57" monitor with that res but it's still a QLED/MicroLED type of tech. That said, that's probably about 9 months to a year out from now, but in either case that res would even bring a 4090 to it's knees, as it would be half the FPS of 4K.... The 5090 should be out by then though and may be a perfect match.
I'm considering buying a 34" or 49" OLED monitor. Is it worth switching from 49" to 34"? And do you still not recommend the G9? Are the issues still present? Would it be better to consider another brand like MSI?
@@KevinGomezFuentes black screen issue is still present so I wouldn’t go with g9, as far as 34 or 49 the biggest deciding factor would be which games you play. I found a lot of games I play don’t support 32:9 but do support 21:9 so I would look at that and see if that helps your decision
thanks for this video ! i use dp with no problem (6900xt) the only thing that bothers me about this monitor is that it is warm a little to the right of the center of the screen !
For the peak brightness not working right... I was looking for oled G8 settings and people said that if you turn off the game HDR and turn on HDR10+ it produces a much brighter image. Might work with the G9 as well.
Great video. Used it as a jumping off point. Anyone having issues with eye saver? When its enabled it automatically turns off game mode, but it also automatically scales down resolution. And it does it automatically. Have tried hdmi and display port. Anyone know if this is just an inherent limitation?
This video was amazing. Extremely thorough. One question for ya though: With your settings, do you have HDR constantly turned on on your monitor and just adjust SDR brightness in windows, or do you switch HDR on when about to game? I ask mostly because it seems with windows SDR never truly looks good with HDR constantly on, no matter how much you adjust that brightness bar, so i usually only turn HDR on when gaming. Am i doing it wrong?
No the way you do it is actually how most people tend to use it! I personally just keep it on but I've seen many people suggest setting up a hot key to turn it on and off when gaming
@@Sellerie_Original you can it just might not work well if you have an nvidia gpu. Depends on your monitor too, some people don’t have issues, others do
I'm having trouble with mine where it would randomly go black and then turn on again. It's like HDR is getting turned off and on again. Very strange I have a similar settings config as yours but I can't understand why the random blackouts. It's as if hdr turns on and off at random intervals, not coming from the driver either. Could it be gsync and vrr?
@@chettystudios I figured it out. Basically whenever you run an application such as a game that doesn't support or have HDR enabled, g9 will reinitialise without HDR. But since the driver is set up for HDR it wants it ON, but game doesn't so g9 wants it OFF. So it cycles between on and off. This will keep happening until you either turn off HDR on the driver or turn it on in the game.
Just chiming in about the cable. When I initially got the monitor and set it up with my 30ft display port (specific requirements in my workstation unfortunately), the patchy white flickers were very consistent and persistent on anything above 60hz (120 or 240). Toning that down to 60hz (i know) alleviates most of it alongside disabling gsync. I still get them occasionally but it definitely IS the cable. In my first couple weeks with it, I did try it with a much shorter cable and the flickering was nonexistent in the 4-6 hours I was using it. IF it did flicker, it wasn't enough to even notice. Im just putting this out here since there's also some issues with QA reported all over the place including the DP port issue that causes these flickering. Otherwise, for my use case needing a single 30ft cable, I'm okay to sacrifice hz for it, but cannot reiterate from the video that the cables indeed matter. I'm still in search for a REALLY good cable capable of the travel and diminished bandwidth but will settle for the 60hz limitation in the meantime. My second one is flawless on a much shorter cable.
@@jeggzzzz if I were you I would look into active cables if you haven’t already, or cables with a built in amplifier to amplify the signal. Usually anything over 15 feet will cause a loss of bandwidth, especially when you’re pushing 5120x1440 at high refresh rates, but an active cable will keep the signal strong the whole way through hopefully allowing for you to utilize the full 240hz
@@chettystudios I used to use them before and they tend to fail since it has an extra thing to it. So I'll keep an eye out for better ones, but I'm totally fine with the 60hz, but thank you very much for the reminder! :)
I'm having issues with some games where when I launch it or tab out, the monitor stops reading the display and tried to shut off. Can't find anything for this online

Thanks so much for the follow up and sharing the settings. I will be installing mine today so I discovered this video right on time. Any thoughts using on the "upgrade files"/Firmware version (USB Type) and drivers available on the product support page? I went for the G93SC without the SmartTv features.
@@chettystudios Thanks, it turned out that mine was already updated luckily. My whole setup process was without any issue and took me a couple of hours to get everything working perfectly. I am using displayport. My only gripes are that coresync lighting doesnt work via displayport and that the G93 doesnt have user profiles. But other than that everything is great and all the games I tried work fine at this resolution. (GTA V, FO 4, RDR2, Elden Ring (with modengine).
Thanks! And no, consoles don't support ultrawide so you would either have a very stretched image or be forced to only use the center in 16x9 mode. I would recommend an OLED TV for console gaming such as the LG c4
Sorry quick question are you saying I should run the display port cable and hdmi or just one? I just got mine today and want to get the most out of it as the game I’m running now is only getting me 80frames
I run 2 of these on displayport 2.1 gpu1 is an amd7900xtx and gpu 2 is icpu - no issues whatsoever even with 10ft cables. Freesync enabled 24/7. hdr10+ advanced was very oversaturated for me and I have a feeling when you set up the monitor in this video it wasnt in game mode because you have settings grey'd out that I do not - or maybe thats from running hdmi and not DP. I feel like you left some visuals/performance on the table with these settings unless you are running an older gpu maybe

And what should I use to connect and charge my new M4 MacBook Pro? Please help! lol Thanks for awesome video😊
I can't seem to find an answer to this - can anyone confirm if turning on or off HDR has any affect on input lag9? I play call of duty and want it as low as possible (over fidelity).
you mentioned resetting the panel and having to redownload the firmware, does that mean the factory reset restores the original firmware the monitor came with? I'm trying to roll back to it but i don't remember what number it was and i don't want to risk bricking the screen downloading a wrong one from the internet
Hi, I recently purchased this monitor, and your videos have been very helpful. However, the screen was glitching, and the monitor’s OS indicated a port issue. Samsung’s customer service was unable to diagnose the problem. Following your suggestion, I tried using HDMI 2.1 cables, which so far seem to have resolved the issues. But I have two questions for you before I decide whether to return the monitor: 1. Since getting the monitor, it has been making a popping noise while in use. Did yours do that? 2. When I first received my monitor, every time I powered it on, the screen would display “Samsung Odyssey OLED”. Now, it only shows the shutting down animation when I turn it on. Is this normal behavior after a while, or is my unit faulty? Thank you!
Glad the cable helped! I forgot to mention I too had the port issue indication when running the troubleshooter in the OS at first. For the popping, this isn’t something I’ve experienced but I would definitely email Samsung about it to make sure it’s just the speakers turning on and not something more serious like a faulty power supply or something that could catch fire over time. And as for the power on, this is normal, I don’t see any text on screen when powering it on, just the horizontal “shutter” effect if the PC is already turned on and a blue screen if the PC is just being turning on and waking the monitor from rest until I get Windows Login Screen
What about adaptive sync? I got the cheaper non smart version, and the settings look a little different, but I just have doubt with adaptive-sync. If it's on, I can't use my macbook wot the full resolution or refresh rate, if it's off, I can use it with 5120 x 1440 and 240hz refresh rate, but I don't know if it is a good decision to turn it off
isthe display port cable that comes with this monitor no good ? i have a random issue where my screen goes black and i cant get an image and i HAVE TOO hard reset my pc, or should i upgrade my cable ?
I followed the setting and I did not like it at all for flight sim. What I did was just to turn off HDR and use the monitors built in settings by pressing the pause/play button and changing it to RTS, turning brightness down to 30, and leaving everything else at default. This gives me a rich deep colors with zero over saturation. Thanks for the help though.
I applied your recommendations here on my new Samsung G9 OLED S49CG932SN, which for some reason does not come with a remote and has a different UI, setting names yet seems to have the same specs as the one here. Like for instance, it only has three levels of color scales to change on RGB instead of the 6 you have here. With the settings here applied (except I kept color settings at 0,0,0) with HDR on and Auto HDR off. I don’t understand why we would want that off? With that off, each time I open a game now, instead of automatically applying HDR to the game, I get a pop up informing me that HDR is available but Off and it would benefit having it on. 😅
There's 2 models of the G9 OLED, one with the "smart" features and interface and one without. I believe the one you have is without, which is why there's no remote/settings are a bit different but the panel itself should be the same. For the Auto HDR I had mine off because it's purpose is to take SDR content and apply a new tone map to give it an HDR look, and although it does a good job most of the time, for the sake of keeping things standard while setting things up I didn't want it to apply any "effects" on top of the image. You can definitely mess around with this once the monitor is set up as it may make some SDR content look better, just keep in mind that Windows is applying a new tone map, on top of the tone map you've already set on the monitor, so if things do start to look oversaturated or highlights blown out that's the reason. The most common complaints I've seen is that it makes certain programs/software while not gaming look blown out and oversaturated and the common fix for this is setting up a hotkey to turn it on/off when using it for gaming/not gaming.
hey i am debating whether to get this or the neo g9 since i heard issues about burn in. I am just not sure how soon that will happen? im fine with it happening in like 4 years but not less... do you think i should get the OLED? appreciate your help
@@user-ux3jp9oo7r it depends on if you use a lot of static elements. Possibly under 4 years if those static elements like a spread sheet are all you ever have up for long hours every day. Also, Best Buy offers a warranty that covers burn in if that will help you make your decision, I'm not too certain the exact details but might be worth looking into

Not a dumb question! You'll have to set it on the PC to turn off the screen after a certain amount of time, and I believe with this display you'll get a countdown timer then the screen will go into standby mode
The peak brightness is sooo damn important, I turned it off initially but with the windows calibration its top tier, also these settings are surprisingly quite good with the mac, once again peak brightness is a MUST

What solutions do you expect here? It's an aspect ratio issue. Same problem when content was mostly 4:3 and 16:9 monitors started to appear. Either crop, stretch, or leave it with the vertical letterboxes.
You must have the 93sc which is a different version without the smart OS or remote. I believe you can access settings through the on TV dongle, but I’m not 100% sure and just keep in mind some settings mentioned in the video like game mode won’t be available for that model.
I'm not sure but converters are something I've been looking into and try to find a way to test if you lose any quality. In theory you shouldn't lose quality but I'm not sure how the graphics card then registers the cable and handles things like DSC (display stream compression) so its a bit out of my knowledge but definitely something I've been trying to look into, just such a niche thing its hard to find some solid data
@@chettystudios Thank you for your reply my friend. I have another question. I returned the g8 Monitor and bought a screen like yours, but now I am facing the problem of the random black screen. Have you found any solution to this problem? i have dp cable cuz I searched the internet and saw that the HDMI cable does not support 240 Hz.
Great video, man. I have the Samsung G95 that uses a VA panel, it also had some issues when I began to use it, thankfully the firmware fixed most of these. omg, why can't Samsung fix those before selling. I want to update my old one to the new OLED G9, but seeing all these issues that you had, I think I will wait for the next-gen because someone said maybe all these problems are caused by the DSC, display stream compression, I hope the next-gen OLED G9 could have the DP2.0 so no more DSC may cause fewer problems. I want to use G9 OLED most of the time for text editing, is that a good choice? Because someone said the ABL can be very unpleasant to eyes
The ABL doesn't bother me as much as the text fringing would for something like text editing. Its still not a HUGE issue but I can imagine it causing some eye strain if I was looking at text all day. Typically WOLED panels deal with this better so I would look for something that uses that!
Zero issues here on G9 OLED, and I've had mine since day 1 on launch so it's been almost 10 months. It works fine on HDMI 2.1 with a good cable, the displayport cable isn't ideal though as you can't easily hit as high of a refresh rate. HDMI 2.1 cable works fine. I've had no issues with HDR or G-Sync/VRR on this monitor, it simply just works. Which is interesting, as the 49" first gen G9 I had with the VA panel was basically impossible to get HDR working on, but HDR is worthless anyway on anything other than OLED or maybe really high-end QLEDs. That said, my biggest complaint is the TV interface, it's laggy garbage. If you do decide to the get the OLED, definitely go with the cheaper one that lacks smart TV features. Will save you $200 and plenty of headache from the shitty slow interface.

There are quite a bit of 32” 4k OLED’s out at the moment so you could always look at those. Personally when I went from 4k to 1440p, specifically when gaming, I don’t really notice the resolution difference. However, in menus/surfing the web/etc I definitely can.
I currently have 2 1440p monitors and planning to switch to this, but mainly I use 3 windows on a desktop without any fullscreen applications running, should I still go for it or will I be prone to burn ins? I use my monitors 8-12 hrs a day.
You may be prone to burn in where the windows meet and the task bar if using with 3 windows all day long, if you don’t care about the OLED you could always go with the non-OLED version as well
I can’t alt+tab normally on my new monitor. Have black screen every time. It seems to be connected with 240 refresh rate and HDR. But I really don’t want to use it without 240hz and hdr. Did someone faced the same issue? Have you found a fix?
Yeah that’s a common issue with a lot of these monitors that use Display Stream Compression in order to utilize high refresh rates. Unfortunately only fix as of now is play in windowed borderless
@@chettystudios that’s a bummer. Maybe will return it back then… Is there another model of ultrawide oled which is working better? Maybe G93SC works better?
@@anicomx4 It's all about compatibility with the GPU. Nvidia has stated it's a known issue and they're working on a fix for it but its been quite a while and still no fix. Thank you so very much. I have mid-stage Parkinson's disease and recently started regularly having tremors in my fingers. Chetty, thank you for sharing your knowledge and your valuable review for the G9. Keep sharing your knowledge and educating us. Thank you. Rob
My G9SC arrived and it is amazing.. Transferred 1:1 your settings and it looks even more brillant, thanks dear
thx a lot for the vid. Tomorrow will my G9SC arriving, I will check you vid again for a basis of calibration
@@phenomz28 glad to hear it! Not seeing too many of these newer panels get burn in that easy is a great relief
Is there a similar video going over all this stuff but for the 93SC? I despise the smart features and tizen ui
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
@SilverJoystix nice snag!
Amazing video(s), thank you! Would I please need to adjust some settings in Nvidia Control Panel as well? (3080 ti)
Thanks! You shouldn't have to, but I would double check resolution and refresh rate are set properly.
Best of luck!

is it posible to use only small portion of the screen to save energy and the OLED itself? Let's say using the middle of the screen as regualr 1080p screen
yes, but you would end up burning in the middle of the screen faster and have noticeable lines where the box is that you're playing in, so its best to just use the whole screen so you "burn in" the pixels evenly, which will result in you not noticing the burn in because the usage is spread out
@@chettystudios can it be done with hardware support form the monitor, or we are talking about resizing the output in the software/OS? Makes sense though it still saves energy and possible is more comfortable in specific situations.
thanks for this! quick question, is there a way to set profiles on this monitor? I use a KVM switch to go between my gaming rig and work Mac
That’s a good question, not technically that I’m aware of, but the settings do save to game mode and non-game mode separately so you could always use game mode off for the Mac and game mode on for the gaming rig and it should act like two different profiles if I’m not mistaken
I'm getting some noticeable VRR flicker, any ideas on a solution? :( latest firmware
you can turn off vrr and see if there's any screen tearing, or if there is, its kind of a pick your poison scenario unfortunately
Thanks so much for the settings tips. Mine arrives tomorrow. I got a really good sale price and Im hoping with the help of your videos that I dont run into too many issues. Question. Does it come with a good HDMI 2.1 cable or do you recommend getting one from a 3rd party?
Enjoy it! It really is a great monitor when working properly. It should come with the HDMI 2.1, so if it’s long enough for you you should be all set
How can i help prevent long term screen burn-in? better to power off the monitor when not in use or would a screen saver wirh motion be ok?
Screen saver with motion is fine, I would still avoid any bright screensavers and best practice would be to set a timer for the screen saver to switch to a different one every few minutes.
Typically I don't even do that, I just switch my screen saver every so often, and when I know I'm stepping away for more then 5/10 minutes I'll just shut the monitor off until I come back.

@@dakakarot best monitor I’ve ever had

But why can't I play with Display Port?😢
@@Sellerie_Original you can it just might not work well if you have an nvidia gpu. Depends on your monitor too, some people don’t have issues, others do

@@jintarokensei3308 idk I still cannot figure it out myself. That’s the last issue I have to solve and pretty much gave up on it, super frustrating
@chettystudios I'll fiddle with it today and let you know if I have any success
@@chettystudios I figured it out. Basically whenever you run an application such as a game that doesn't support or have HDR enabled, g9 will reinitialise without HDR. But since the driver is set up for HDR it wants it ON, but game doesn't so g9 wants it OFF. So it cycles between on and off. This will keep happening until you either turn off HDR on the driver or turn it on in the game.
@ sweet I’ll give it a try thanks!

But I have two questions for you before I decide whether to return the monitor:
And as for the power on, this is normal, I don’t see any text on screen when powering it on, just the horizontal “shutter” effect if the PC is already turned on and a blue screen if the PC is just being turning on and waking the monitor from rest until I get Windows Login Screen
my Oled G9 stop displays my pc randomly and i can get it back few minutes later or if i turn it off and on back

What about adaptive sync? I got the cheaper non smart version, and the settings look a little different, but I just have doubt with adaptive-sync. If it's on, I can't use my macbook wot the full resolution or refresh rate, if it's off, I can use it with 5120 x 1440 and 240hz refresh rate, but I don't know if it is a good decision to turn it off
it really just helps with screen tearing, so if you have no issues with it off then you're good to go

isthe display port cable that comes with this monitor no good ? i have a random issue where my screen goes black and i cant get an image and i HAVE TOO hard reset my pc, or should i upgrade my cable ?
@@RotNside I would upgrade the cable and see if that helps, that’s usually the issue with this monitor. Super finicky especially with nvidia gpu’s
I don't have that panel, I can just change settings from the buttons of the monitor....hi do you access that panel?
How much burn in have you noticed on your c3? I have one I game on a lot not even a year now but its looking good

@@user-ux3jp9oo7r I think yes go for it
@@user-ux3jp9oo7r it depends on if you use a lot of static elements. For gaming you're probably fine, but if you do a lot of work with the same tabs open all day long it will definitely burn in eventually. Possibly under 4 years if those static elements like a spread sheet are all you ever have up for long hours every day.
Also, Best Buy offers a warranty that covers burn in if that will help you make your decision, I'm not too certain the exact details but might be worth looking into

does the samsung odyssey g9 have motion interpolation aka de-judder aka motion smoothing?
From what I’ve read there is a “motion clarity” setting that will activate BFI, but you have to jump through some hoops to get it to work such as 1. Switch to AV mode 2. Set to Use 120hz or lower

Im using a Nvidia 3060 Laptop GPU. I dont see the Display Settings in the Nvidia Control Panel. How can I open that menu? Any ideas?
Dumb question - I have a G93SC connected to a Windows mini PC, to have the screen just turn off after a period do I just go into Power Settings on my PC? Or do I have to mess with the OSD? It has a Panel Care screensaver after 2 mins as I understand it but I want a fully blacked out low power state which will automatically turn on when I mess with the mouse/keyboard. Cheers.

This might be a stupid question but mine did not come with a remote, how do I access the settings menu?
You must have the 93sc which is a different version without the smart OS or remote. I believe you can access settings through the on TV dongle, but I’m not 100% sure and just keep in mind some settings mentioned in the video like game mode won’t be available for that model.
is there downsides of using a converter on G8 monitor from regular dp to mini dp
@@chettystudios Thanks bro
@@rustyshackleford4117 thanks for so many details, I am going to wait for the next-gen G9, I want to see how the DP2.0 works

How is this vs a 4k 32" ips? I'm looking into OLED but I'm afraid the vertical resolution and sharpness compared to 4k makes me regret it
There are quite a bit of 32” 4k OLED’s out at the moment so you could always look at those.
Personally when I went from 4k to 1440p, specifically when gaming, I don’t really notice the resolution difference. However, in menus/surfing the web/etc I definitely can.
mine won't do 240hz unless VRR is on
I currently have 2 1440p monitors and planning to switch to this, but mainly I use 3 windows on a desktop without any fullscreen applications running, should I still go for it or will I be prone to burn ins? I use my monitors 8-12 hrs a day.
You may be prone to burn in where the windows meet and the task bar if using with 3 windows all day long, if you don’t care about the OLED you could always go with the non-OLED version as well
@@chettystudios Oh man, I really want the OLED model, it looks so much better. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yeah that’s a common issue with a lot of these monitors that use Display Stream Compression in order to utilize high refresh rates. Unfortunately only fix as of now is play in windowed borderless
@@chettystudios that’s a bummer. Maybe will return it back then…
Is there another model of ultrawide oled which is working better?

@@anicomx4 It's all about compatibility with the GPU. Nvidia has stated it's a known issue and they're working on a fix for it but its been quite a while and still no fix.
No matter the brand or model, at such high refresh rates and resolution DSC is going to need to be used, and unfortunately it just isn't a 100% perfected technology yet.
