As someone who has a 300hz monitor sitting next to a 165hz monitor, just about anyone can see the difference in smoothness, let alone sitting them next to a 60hz monitor. Anyone arguing against higher frame rates doesn't know what they're talking about. The interesting part is that ELMB, ULMB, and BFI work really well too without requiring an actual 300hz frame rate. I don't really care about the reduced latency, I just want a better experience. I hope more monitors incorporate ELMB/ULMB in the future. Perhaps OLEDs can have increased brightness for those modes since they're technically only on half of the cycle?

@thedisplayguy I tried to limit the frame rate. For example 60, but sometimes that even increases the flickering. What I noticed is that the FPS in the monitor OSD sometimes briefly jumps to 120+ fps and then back to the normal fame rate. This happens despite the FPS being limited to 60. Is there anything else I can do? I checked the framerate and frametime graph with msi afterburner and they are completely flat. No spikes or drops. The msi afterburner doesn't show these 120+ with and without the capped framerate. The framerate is clearly at 60 when capped at 60. Could it be windows 10? So is windows 11 better for G-SYNC? Could it be a faulty panel? Please help!
i am not the display guy, but i do have a oled monitor and a fps cap did not help my flickering, but reducing the refresh rate on the monitor helped a bit. in right-click/display settings/advanced display, choose refresh rate. i tried everything from 1 hz below max to half. some have success with only 2 hz below max. then play with fps cap in games. disable vsync everywhere, fps cap 2 fps below the monitor refresh rate with afterburner, enable gsync for all windows modes in geforce panel.
As someone who never thought I could manage 32”, I’ve used the 1440p 360hz and as of late even the 1080p 540hz. I returned the 540hz mainly because 240hz was always my bare minimum and I wanted the 4k for any other game I play. And after 2 days of nonstop overwatch, I can’t believe I’m saying this but I heavily prefer the clarity of 4k at 32” to 540hz fuzzy 1080p. I think I am preferring the 4k to make out the enemy team from a distance. At 32”, I can make my crosshair smaller than I used to so that it doesn’t overshadow my target’s head without being too small and losing track of it. I think 4k 240hz is the way to go if you play both competitive and single player games.
@@353darkesthour hmm yeah im leaning towards the 4k. but is the difference noticeable compared to 1440p 360hz? or does it all come doen to size preference?
For me the fact that you need a better PC to run 360Hz is a pointless argument for a few reasons. First of all, most 360Hz monitors, especially OLEDs, are already expensive so if you can spend hundreds on a 360Hz monitor then you should be able to buy a PC that can get those kinds of FPS or you should stick to a lower refresh rate for now. Second, most people who use 360Hz play competitive games like Valorant, CS2, ..., and most of the time they are not gonna use max settings ingame (depending on the game). Thirdly, most of those competitive games are REALLY easy to drive, I have a GTX 1080 and a Ryzen 7 7700X and I can run Valorant 1440p at over 400fps even while using max settings.
4K 120Hz minimum from now on. Noticeable difference between 60fps & 120fps. Never seen or tried 240Hz so wouldn't know if it makes a difference or not.
@thedisplayguy I capped the FPS to the half I had. Nothing changed. My Nvidia driver version is 551.86... Even with capped fps the flickering appears always in darker areas. No frametime spikes or framedrops. Any other thing I can do?
bro, help me, my computer does not output more than 300 frames per second, if I put 240 Hz on my acer 390 Hz, will it be worse than on a monitor with a maximum frequency of 240?
No, it will be the same. You can even take advantage of it. A high vertical total allows you to refresh the screen in 1/390 second at any refresh rate, improving input lag. If you use backlight strobing, it improves crosstalk. Furthermore, an fps limiter at exactly the refresh rate removes input lag due to v-sync. I hope this helps, cheers.
4k resolution is like the max for oled rn, but I mean there are also very few lcd's which can go 5k or higher. Like very few because for every other card other than the 4090 or 4080 5k and above is redicuously hard to drive even if you're somehow oke with 60hz
I hardly noticed a difference going from 165hz to 240hz but once used to it 165hz feels way less smooth. Noticed jump from 240hz OLED to 360hz OLED instantly. I've been playing strictly competitive games for years now tho. I don't think you'll perform any better on 360hz vs 240hz but the difference in smoothness is very noticeable. Butter smooth. That being said not going 360hz is stupid if going 1440p since they are the same price. Also 4k 240hz is way harder to run. You may average it but your minimums and 1% lows will drop frequently making you perform worse.

You need to adjust your game settings. Also PS5 and Xbox both override certain monitor settings automatically. So, use the physical buttons to open your monitors menu to check your settings there as well.
If you want a 360hz monitor and you are only questioning it because your PC isn’t always outputting 360+ fps then I’d say you should buy the 360hz monitor. You can always turn down settings or overclock your GPU. Plus, if you cant/won’t do either of those things, you’re probably going to upgrade your GPU in the next few years, and will be able to hit that frame rate in CS or over competitive shooters.
I went from 240 hz and bought a 360 hz monitor with the intension to return it if I didn’t notice any difference. But LET ME TELL YOU… it’s even MORE buttery and satisfying to move around/track than the 240 hz. I’m already so excited to upgrade to 500hz when that time comes because of this. I really didn’t think I would see even a small difference. If you took what it was like to upgrade from 60hz to 144hz. Take what that experience was like, but subtract about 50% of the experience. THATS what you will expect to experience going from 240 hz to 360 hz. Still a big difference in my opinion.

I dont feel like this was a deep enought review. If you play fast fps on a high lvl i would listen way more to what you feel in difference. Adjusting recoil should be way better with 360 hz. Also ofc you use it in comp shooters. So 360 hz are defently reachable.
I don't even care too much about games, it's the general desktop use which takes benefit of the higher refresh rates, and you don't even need a powerful GPU for that. It's similar to phones, a phone with 120 Hz screen but crappy CPU will feel smoother than phone with 60Hz display and powerful CPU. Of course the benefits are somewhat diminishing but 360Hz still is 50% faster than 240Hz, so unless you have some severe medical condition like CGES (console gamer eye syndrome), you simply will notice it in day-to-day use.
Speaking OLEDs at 1440p. 360hz costs the same as 240hz and doesn't have shit matte coating. So who cares if you think it's diminishing returns. Stupid to not get it for the same price.
I have currently the fo27q3 1440p 360hz oled and before that I had the lg 27gs95qe and I like the gigabite a lot more, but not because of the 360hz, i basically don’t feel any difference between 240hz, i got it because of the glossy panel & all those nice settings like black equalizer 2.0 and stuff, or supersharpness resolution, it’s like using NVIDIA filters but without FPS drops and even on console possible. But yh since I don’t feel a difference between 240 & 360, I ordered the 4k 240hz version of it My 4090 can handle both 4k240/1440p360 And on ps5 you’re capped at 120hz anyway, and u cannot change the render resolution, so if a game like mw3 is rendered at 4k, you don’t get more fps when u use 1080/1440, cuz u can only change the output, that’s why the fps & the wattage doesnt change, so basically putting yourself in a disadvantage by using a 1080/1440p panel on PS5
i have only experienced up to 240hz, and all steps up to that is a good improvement. what i want to test is if frame gen finally is usable if i had 360hz monitor. because right now 240hz is not enough to enable frame gen. for example in Robocop i got around 110fps and that is not enough base framerate to enable frame gen. it is close, so why use it when i have to weight the pro's and con's. if i had higher hz monitor i could get frame gen benefits without the drawbacks.
We need more non oled reviews. Most people with 2 monitors don't want 2 oleds. Specially cuz it's usually doing static tasks, and having it go to sleep all the time is annoying.
240 is good enough for most if not all scenarios. But you CAN'T easily get 240fps ON 4k even with a 4090 and max graphics. Realistically you'll be much easier getting 240fps (plus) on a 1440p. On a 4090 and max graphics. And things will get worse as times go on and even a 4090 will be midrange by then. Practically, 240fps latency on a 360hz panel is the same or better than 240fps on 240hz panel. So still 1440p 360hz wins over 240hz 4k.
It's so hecking easy to get more than 400 fps, even 500 fps at 4k resolution constantly in competitive games like Valorant, Fortnite, Overwatch, CS2, etc, but for triple AAA titles 144hz is more than enough(until the next generations of Nvidia, AMD, etc)
A RTX 4070 Ti non-Super and RX 7900 GRE can reach 300 FPS (engine limit) at 1440p at competitive graphics settings no problem. Overwatch 2 and Valorant will easily will pass 300 FPS as well.
Everything above 144hz is enough for most people. Everything above is marketing propaganda. I own both a 144hz and a 360hz screen and i dont notice much if any difference.
It’s not just that bro. In the past i had 144 hz, 165, and 240 hz monitors. I can tell the difference immediately between the refresh rates. Now im switching to 360hz oled. I have a 360hz panel and switching to 240hz back and forth is easily noticeable. at least when playing CS competitive. it just feels smoother even if the jump is smaller compared to 144 to 240, which is massive
You are a boomer than or your eyes aren’t good, there’s literally no way it’s not that noticeable to you. When i go back to 144 just to test it, it hurts my eyes. Especially in fast paced games

I'm very latency sensitive and I got the MSI MAG 271QPX for $649 USD and I absolutely love it I came from a Cooler Master Tempest Mini LED panel and the HDR quality is much better on OLED plus the clarity and motion performance is wonderful I couldn't be happier with it and it's now getting firmware updates since MSI backtracked and it's getting the same firmware updates as the MPG model so no downsides anymore

@thedisplayguy
I tried to limit the frame rate.

Could it be a faulty panel?

disable vsync everywhere, fps cap 2 fps below the monitor refresh rate with afterburner, enable gsync for all windows modes in geforce panel.
is playing competitive fps games on a 32 inch 4k oled monitor too big? is it a disadvantage?
I have the same question! Currently i'm running a 24 inch 144Hz 1080p at around 65cm / 25,5inch distance

Never seen or tried 240Hz so wouldn't know if it makes a difference or not.

bro, help me, my computer does not output more than 300 frames per second, if I put 240 Hz on my acer 390 Hz, will it be worse than on a monitor with a maximum frequency of 240?
No, it will be the same. You can even take advantage of it. A high vertical total allows you to refresh the screen in 1/390 second at any refresh rate, improving input lag. If you use backlight strobing, it improves crosstalk. Furthermore, an fps limiter at exactly the refresh rate removes input lag due to v-sync. I hope this helps, cheers.

You can always turn down settings or overclock your GPU. Plus, if you cant/won’t do either of those things, you’re probably going to upgrade your GPU in the next few years, and will be able to hit that frame rate in CS or over competitive shooters.

Practically, 240fps latency on a 360hz panel is the same or better than 240fps on 240hz panel.
So still 1440p 360hz wins over 240hz 4k.
High refresh rate is mostly meant for esports. 4090 can get 240hz at 4k easily in most of these types of games
