  • In this series I will take you through a step by step build of the Airfix 1/72 De Havilland Mosquito PRXVI kit.
Aimed at beginners, I hope to show lots of simple tips and tricks to boost the confidence of less experienced modellers, and to maybe add some polish for the more accomplished. Lots of detail, and yes, lots of talking! In part four the fuselage comes together using super glue and we drill some holes.

I chuckled at the "dearly departed seams". I didn't do any building in December too much family xmas stuff. Now its January I'll get back to this. I have never really used superglue, so going to on this build

Jen, I have learned from your videos, when sanding be gentle, I have a tendency to be hard when sanding, but I have learned you do not have to be, thanks.

I think it's fair to say be gentle in all things when it comes to modelling, but I'm very glad the videos are helpful to you.

Well that was a nerve-racking first - but the superglue worked well - apart from spilling it over my hands at the start!

Well done for giving it a go, because there aren't many that will push past their comfort zone! I'm sorry you got it all on your hands, it's very annoying when that happens ...

    Hi Jen,
I must complement you on getting a good result with the 3.2mm hole directly with a 3mm drill. It is so easy to find that the small chisel point of the drill can cause it to 'walk' off centre before it bites in with the cutting edges and drills. If there is no marked indent for the hole position I use an old dart point (Bulls eye), heated over a candle to then pick & melt an indent that aids the drill starting and staying put. - In metal it would be a Centre punch + hammer.
In addition, I followed your recommendation from another video regarding 'Models For Sale' to get some Vallejo Metal Colors at a great price. Extremely quick & efficient service over a weekend. Brilliant thankyou. Keep safe & well.

Another excellent video, Jen! Brilliant idea to use the Black Widow super glue to join the fuselage sides. I'll be trying that in the future. Bye-bye ghost seams!

Love the use of tin foil for the backing on the recognition lights - I hadn't thought of that. I've always used Tamiya transparent coloured paint and then backed it with metallic paint to get that effect.

Excellent guide to using superglue as an adhesive and filler. I’ll be trying this in my next build. Thanks once again Jen for providing this how to series.

Is AK still manufacturing their Black Widow glue?

Made a start on mine (slow but sure). Used mig ammo paint from a British cockpit (green paint, weathering wash and dust powder) set but it takes an age to properly dry (especially in this damp weather).

Good evening Jen.Great work.My speciality is model soldiers and i would like if sometime you can present a subject.Unfortunately in Greece there are missing some of your tools.I'm old enough and i remember that the models which we were beginning our modelling were the matchbox kits which were splendit for a beginner and i would like to see your opinion of them.I would like to see them running again and i think that they would help a lot to the spreading of the hobby.Your work is excellent but i think is a little bit advanced for a complete beginner. What's your oppinion to make a kit straight from the box providing there are not basic mistakes. For example the kit of Esci's Mig-23s in 1/48 has not holes in the wings for the pylons and you have to make them.I don't think such a procedure very easy.Thank you for your marvellous video.

Jen, thank you for your videos. Very informative. I've been battling using oils or other mediums for weathering. I used your methods on my current build and she came out great!

Jen, I used a die-cut mask set for mine there is a surprisingly large amount of clear parts that are small and need masking, it was worth the £5 it cost me.

Great information and advice. One question when you installed the 3 light recognition clear part on the underside did you put the light color on the inside or the outside of the part? The foil seems like a great idea for the light backing.

    • @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft
      @JenesisDesignsandModelcraft  8 месяцев назад +1

I put it on the inside and let it dry before I added the foil. I did film that part, but it came out wrong, and I can't re-do stuff once it is already done!

Another great video Jen, very helpful and informative. I'm a little further behind in the process as this is my first proper attempt at using these techniques, with varying degrees of success. Is there an email I can send progress photos to? Thanks again. for doing this series of videos.

You are a skilled model builder, and I admire those skills, and I normally enjoy your channel, but I am puzzled at how you can call this "modelling for beginners" when it clearly is not. 😶
