Thing worth mentioning: according to Carl from inrange this also improves the balancing of the rifle, because without any attachments the rifle is a bit back heavy. Great problem to have compared to front heavy, because it's still more manageable and as seen with this attachment completely solvable.
I'd say the best part about this is it's just straight up a better looking handguard than the factory one. If I'm gonna buy an MDR I'm definitely going all the way with one of these as well
READ BEFORE YOU BUY - - The BlK LBL Mantis is great in theory, but needs improvements. It works as advertised if you do not plan on running a suppressor muzzle device and wish to conduct caliber exchanges. If so, due to the extremely narrow inner diameter, you will have to remove you muzzle device every time you want to remove the Mantis to conduct a caliber exchange. Know your dimensions prior to purchasing. I bought one and can’t use it due to my running either OSS or Rugged suppressor muzzle devices.
The fact that before u can't use a vertical grip and a bipod on the mdr + issue with mounting laser was the only thing that back me from buying this rifle. I'm fuki..ng sold now ahahah
I like the aesthetics of this handguard a lot more than the standard one, well done folks. Side question: what's the back order time looking like on the MDRX when you buy through your site?
Very cool. Positives - aluminum was a good choice. It will balance out the rifle well (bullpups are always back heavy) and make if feel overall more sturdy. Negatives - $500 is... tough to swallow. Although now that i look around on the net i see the AR15 version is also about $500-$550. Still, the most i've ever spent on a handguard was $400 on a Brigand arms carbon fiber handguard for my ultralight AR15 project. The other negative is the same issue the MDR has suffered from the beginning and that is weight. It's always the last hurdle for every new weapon compared to the AR15. They just can't seem to top the weight. Which means you have to give up all the extra accessories to have a comfortable rifle setup. At first i wanted to add all the accessories i normally would, but it would slowly eat away at me at how heavy it ended up. I finally reduced everything to just a forward grip and a weapon light. Almost went side eject for additional weight saving but i like the mechanics of the forward eject too much. But now this handguard would add a pound on top of that? Would mean that the stock weight would be 9.5lbs with just handguard switch. Add a scope (1-1.5lbs) and already up to 11. Maybe thats why you would need the bipod, too heavy to hold up for long periods of time. I'll just end it here, i'm rambling.
Never had a issue with the weight of my MDR, it's more maneuverable then any AR15 I've ever owned and I've had a better time transporting and hiking or trailing with the MDR, my AR15 on the other hand not so much.
I know you said, 7/8 of an inch. Do you know if the AAC 51T muzzle devices will fit this? I am now with my beloved MDRX right now.... But I want to spend money!
For looks sake, you should make a replacement grip that has a full hand guard that locks into the trigger guard to make it look like the trigger and hand guard of the X95. Straight up HALO if you had one of those and I'd buy an MDR just for that reason alone.
@@DesertTechUT the reason requesting if the manufacturer can send the design to a printer .... for a titanium option... and in the oversize and extended version that DT offers for silencer option. Simple question really.
@@timpierce6708 It is a simple question, with a simple answer. Just have someone design and build you one. But if your asking us to send out our design so someone else can profit on something we paid to develop and manufacture that's a no dawg.
Can the 20 inch hand guard be used with a 16 inch barrel and suppressor combination? I am hoping to keep the overall rifle length as short as possible, while benefitting from the extra rail space.
@@HawaiianSurfer96 that is a 308 20rnd in a chassis. With a 3d printed Micron dummy on the front. We made them for dealers to be able to show the Micron without needing to register their chassis.
The only issue I see with the BLK LBL bipod designs is their choice to use magnets as a method of retaining the bipod legs in the stowed position. Those magnets are in a potentially very, very hot location. No magnetized metal likes heat. How hot does that area around the magnets get, and what kind of magnets are used? Even the commonly available Neodymium magnets begin losing their strength at around 80 deg. C. The higher end Neos can go into the 200’s to 300’s C, with accompanying increase in price. If the high end Neos are used, I’m picking up one of these ASAP! Wild Stallions all the way!
Does anybody know if this holds zero well? A common complaint I've seen with the stock handguard is that it doesn't hold zero well because it's polymer so it's not recommended to put anything like a peq-15 on it. Wondering if this is fixed with the mantis since it's aluminum but I want to hear from someone who owns it.
So should I buy this one or for my 20" 308 or should I hold off for a potential longer one? I really like my plastic extended hand guard, but this is just too cool.
All these comments are posers and wannabes. They are a company, doesn't matter if you like them and wish them well. If you don't buy what they sell, they will go bankrupt.
The collaboration I've been waiting for, an absolute must buy. Hope they make them for the SRS some day too.

Great idea wish it was longer to compensate for the 20 inch barrel.

Hey this is awesome!! I am curious if there are plans to make a slightly longer one that could work with the 20" barrel?
no current plans to

How much weight does it add?
