    Just had my new MDRx out to the range using an OSS gen 5 can...from first shot to last shot (~150 rounds), it ran flawlessly. I would have shot more, but with ammo being scarce and expensive, it just wasn't in the budget.

    I have been shooting this gun for about two weeks with the suppressor on and about 500 rounds and never had a failure. It is so much fun and quiet. I currently have the 556 conversion kit running on gas setting one and it works flawlessly. Looking forward to buying my next conversion kit. The SRS that I have really doesn’t get shot that much anymore which is kind of a bummer but the MDRx is so much funner to shoot.

    A lot of good info here but...my MDR is now running reliably (always suppressed) after two trips back to Desert Tech and a lot of frustrating efforts. After going through gas valve upgrades in 2018 and 2019, the wide extractor, and factory do-overs I guess I'm happy that it functions.

    Really wishing we could test out the Desert Tech flow-through suppressor they prototyped for the Army. It would be great to give OSS a run for their money. I couldn’t be happier with my MDR and the current state of the gun shows how much promise the platform has for the future. Still waiting on the MDR-A and MDR-C. Integrally suppressed flow-through on an MDR-C/A? Am I the only one here that wants a sub machine gun sized sniper rifle that files suppressed from a medium backpack?

  • @astraflyr

    Today’s new accessories video talked about different threads for 5.56 barrels vs .308 barrels. How am I supposed to only use one large can if they need different threads? Recently used a Thunder Beast and I loved it! I’m so done with the stock 5.56 muzzle brake. My wife was shooting next to me at the range and described it as “violent”. I took it off and rather enjoyed the giant flame coming out the barrel.

    • @JohnBrowningsGhost
      @JohnBrowningsGhost 3 года назад +1

      Lots of cans have interchangeable rears so you can thread in the right adapter, or you can use a QD setup like KeyMo from dead air

    • @scottyagreen

      Buy one with a muzzle brake attachment so you can just get several muzzle brakes that fit your different barrel threads.

  • @mugenrios2k
    @mugenrios2k 2 года назад

    With the Larger HG on the MDR for an over barrel suppressor/reflect suppressor my understanding is the 1.75 max od of a reflex suppressor inside the hand guard is not uniform as you move from the muzzle back toward the gas block EG at some point the ID of the hand guard tapers down/gets smaller. At what dimension/length back from the muzzle would you say there is no longer enough clearance to continue to run a reflect style suppressor. EG can you estimate how much over the barrel restate/length there really is for a can of 1.75 OD when part of it gets tucked inside the hand guard......??? assuming using a 16" barrel....

    • @DesertTechUT
      @DesertTechUT  4 года назад +2

      depends on many things, but generally if you turn the gas down as low as possible to function the rifle properly, it is not bad at all.

    I just got first 100 rounds through my .308 temporarily running a Sig .338 Ti can and could not figure out what was the ideal setting. Tons of jams with the fired case not going in the ejection chute. what is the lowest setting compared to highest setting on the gas valve, very confused on the additional settings besides N, A, S as none of them seemed to fix the extraction. Ended up taking the FE dust cover off and let em fling 15 ft...BTW Had a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8x and was rapid slapping steel 20” silhouette at 250 yards, just sick nasty control and accuracy suppressed. 22/25 .308 rounds on target in 21 seconds!

    • @DesertTechUT
      @DesertTechUT  3 года назад +1

      Sounds like its hammering. There are six positions, 1 being the smallest amount of gas and 6 being the highest. Consistent jams in the ejection chute are typical of under gassing, so you may need more. Normally the rifles work on 3-4 under normal non-suppressed shooting, but with a suppressor you may want to use setting 2. If you need additional help, shoot us an email at warrantyservice@deserttech.com and we'll see what we can do to help.

As for function, my gun has been almost 100% suppressed, with only 1 lubing in 500 ish rounds. Not a single malfunction, all cheap german brass case and tula steel case. No hiccups, I have the original MDR with the forward ejection.

    I really want to see more integrated suppressors being sold with the rifle. A lot of people will want to buy a suppressor as it is a hearing safety issue. However, most look like they were just tacked onto the barrel. Desert Tech goes through so much trouble to shorten a rifle to 26" - but then when you add a 9" suppressor you are back to 35". Lets see a suppressed MDRX with full length of 26"!

    Deserttech
    Has really dropped the ball.
    My son paid them over $2,000 in June 2021 to purchase a 556 MDRX. Subsequently DT let all customers know their orders would all be filled by Feb 28, 2022. The lower/chassis was delivered to my son’s DT dealer but the 556 kit; barrel, bolt, magazine adapter hasn’t yet arrived.
    After many emails and unreturned phone calls to DT, Zach Kingston, Inside Sales rep, sent my son an email with a Fed Ex tracking number implying it was my son’s responsibility to track down the undelivered gun kit.
    The Fed Ex web site indicates the kit only made it only to their warehouse over 200 miles from my son’s residence and has been “undelivered” for over 2 months. The Fed Ex rep told my son he would have to drive the 200+ miles, and pick up the kit though he wouldn’t confirm Fed Ex actually still had the physical parcel.
    Apparently Zach Kingston at DT never bothered to inquire of Fed Ex or even track the shipment himself.
    When one contracts with DT it requires payment months in advance specifically to deliver the gun lower to one’s dealer and the remainder of the kit to your address. Apparently DT only believes their obligation to customer service ends when the product leaves their doorway.
    Deserttech remains unresponsive and unhelpful.

      I believe I am aware of which case you are talking about. FedEx lost the package containing the conversion kit, we are sending a replacement conversion kit to replace it. When we spoke to the actual recipient of the package this morning, he seemed just fine with the solution provided.
      If this is not the case, I would ask your son to contact us and we will get it taken care of.
