    Installed the zoom post on my bike today and I wouldn't have realized I can adjust the tilt on the seat if I hadn't of watched your video. Thank you. After I rode and saw how nice it worked, I ordered a post for the wife. I'll be in her good favor for a couple days at least, cause knowing me, I'll do something to piss her off. I am but a man! 😇

      Lol!! I am but a man as well🤣 I very happy that you got something from my video. That makes me feel like I’m not doing this for nothing. After getting the Zoom for my wife and trying it out I decided to get one for myself too. I should have it in a day or two. I really could have used it today on our ride…it was the roughest trail I’ve ridden by far. I’m working on the editing and should have it up by Tuesday. I had 2 hours of footage so I’m trying to cut out the boring parts and getting it to a decent length. 😁. Happy trails!!

    John, I appreciate your clear, precise, relaxed way of explaining products and showing how to install, the new style connectors with the Allen nuts are so much easier to deal with than the old fashioned ones. If you do some research, you will find seat posts for heavier folks, but they do cost more. I have always just gotten off the seat when I approach a rough part, and not depend on any suspension at all. Pedro here.

      Hi Pedro! I appreciate that…I’m always nervous in front of the camera but I hope it helps some people. I’ll continue to look but might end up with the Zoom after all. I usually stand when I see a bump coming but the Zoom does give some extra softness when riding on the pavement. We will do some rides with it and see how it goes.

      Thanks Pedro! I’ll probably take turns with my wife on some rides to see how it works for me on the trails we usually ride on. I feel like even a little give that it had for me might relieve some of the soreness of a longer ride. We will see😁

    YES! You must adjust the angle of the seat on the new Zoom post! Just match up the angle from the old seatpost first!
    But finally someone has shown us the best procedure to check the tension you went 13 turns clockwise and I noticed it was still bottoming out! So I decided that on my wife's suspension seatpost I'm going to crank it almost all the way because she weighs twice as much as I do and I'm going to start mine in the stock position and go from there I weigh 175lbs!

    I have the same seat post for my old ebike. I weight 295lbs and it definitely helped with saddle sore riding longer trips. The type of seat I use also helped. I used to ride on the cloud 9 like in this video but I since got my sit bones measured and went with a much thinner seat/saddle by Bontrager (trek) for my seating position for $35 and although it is not as thick or cushioned it is much easier on me riding. Squishy doesn't always mean more comfortable when it comes to saddles. Sometimes firmer is better.

    I was looking at RUclips video's of the many different suspension seat posts, and ended up choosing ordering Suntour NCX, so it will be a few days before it arrives, but as one fellow put it, you 'get what you pay for' so I thought I'd spend a little extra, for longevity. I'm around the 180 lb mark, so I won't need it adjusted too much more than it's default, but the Suntour NCX seems to have good reviews, yet there are a couple one being Redshift, the other Kninekt suspension seat posts, on the more extreme cost end. Nonetheless, I chose the best for what I believe is 'bang for the buck' for my riding style, which is pathways, roadside bike paths, and some off-road trails. I've got some longer rides upcoming, so I'll be doing some of my own testing, and crossing my fingers as to a positive outcome. One thing mentioned on the 'spring' style, being that the distance from seat to pedal changes, as the seat moves up and down, and they say that can be difficult if you're riding where the extremes of the up/down on a very bumpy trail can affect your pedalling, where the fulcrum in using the Suntour has some back/forth motion with a little up/down making the distance from seat to pedal much less. Thanks for the video, and you did just fine in front of the camera, giving us good detail in what you where doing, and you own review of the post, so much appreciated!

      Thanks for stopping by. Just remember that some posts are made for bigger frames. What I mean is that the diameter of the post may not fit into a regular bike. Make sure you measure the hole that your post goes into and make sure the suspension seatpost and seat for that matter fits your bike’s opening. They might sell them in different sizes. 👍

    You probably know this,but I am 250 lbs and have been using the spring seat post that came with my Xp 1.0. I have had no issues at 250 lbs and I guess based on your video you’re probably ok as well. Good video, thanks. I did not see any bottoming out.

    • @ReflectionsofOurLife
      @ReflectionsofOurLife  3 года назад +1

      Hi John! I feel like if I was 250lbs I would be very happy with the Zoom post but those extra 50lbs ends up making a pretty big difference. It’s really hard to tell on the video like a lot of things are but I definitely smacked a solid spot in the post when I went over moderate bumps. The bottom of the sticker on the post is where the bottoming out happens and it did make it to the top of the seat post tube several times and I could really feel that. But like I said, I would probably get one if I don’t find anything any more heavy duty. I think it’s fine for the trails I ride but beyond that and the random pothole, it’s not a lot of help. If you could tell, I was pretty torn about giving it a thumbs up or down 😂. I’m right at that line where you can fall either way.

I had a local guy who installed systems and got me a really strong motor which was good for my "generously" proportioned frame. Still came to be about the same price as the electric one. The big thing for me was the riding position worked really well for my no longer so young back. I tried other bicycles but they either had my knees in my chin or my feet way to high off the ground.

      I apologize for taking so long to reply! We've been through some issues here over the last few months and this channel has suffered because of that. But we are back now and looking forward to getting better. There is an adjustment screw in the bottom of the seat post that you can turn to tighten it up or loosen the suspension. Adjusting that screw keeps me from bottoming out and i weight close to 300lbs. If that doesn't work then you must have gotten a bad one and should exchange it.

    Hi John,
    Chris at Propel (they have a RUclips channel too) has a video published in June 2020 on sprung seat posts called “Cirrus Kinekt Bodyfloat Suspension Seat Post XL2” that have a model for riders up to 320 pounds. They are crazy expensive though at $250 list, but about $229 on Amazon.
    I had a Lectric XP 2.0 on order for most of
    July, but after thoroughly thinking about it for that time, I cancelled it due to lack of decent riding places without having to fight automobile traffic here in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Packing the bike in the car and toting off to a trail miles away just doesn’t seem worthwhile, so I suspect I wouldn’t use an eBike enough to justify the cost. Good luck with the seatpost!

      Hi Rob! The funny thing is that I haven’t gotten another shock post for my Lectric. I have found myself riding the new Rattan because of the more powerful motor and it came with a shock seat post. I would go ahead with the Zoom though. It’s a bit less expensive as some of the others and it actually works well for me when I adjust the spring tension.

    What prevents the seat shifting from side to side??? You cannot change spring for your weight???

    • @ReflectionsofOurLife
      @ReflectionsofOurLife  10 месяцев назад

      There is a bolt and nut that you can tighten that will keep the seat solid on the seat post. The seat has 2 rails and this post fits between the rails. When the bolt is tightened, the seat is kept stable between the two rails. And yes, there is a screw at the bottom of the seat post that you can turn to loosen or tighten the springs inside the post. I was able to adjust that screw to the point that it supports my weight just fine.

    What about measuring the spring size and adding another spring size that's smaller diameter in addition with the one it comes with. That way you have 2 springs in there instead of one.

      That’s a great idea Chris!! I hadn’t thought of that. Next chance I get I’ll have to research that possibility 😃.

      @@ReflectionsofOurLife Sure no problem. It reminded me of a buffer tube on an AR-15 and I watch forgotten weapons a lot and some of the older firearms have a dual spring setup where there is dual springs but a smaller one is inside of a larger one and they use them in concert instead of a side by side arrangement. You probably wouldn't need too much over what the main spring is doing and it's still adjustable as the threaded spacer is acting on both springs at once. Usually the smaller spring is weaker and is just there to support the main spring a bit. I just ordered one of these seat posts today myself. I'm not expecting any miracles, but if it even helps a bit with the garbage roads we have where I live I'll be happy.

      @@ReflectionsofOurLife After doing a quick search on Google. I've seen a few springs out there with a 24mm outside diameter for fun which should fit I'm guessing the 26mm outside diameter mainspring in the 27mm tube. There are a ton out there of varying lengths. But even if you have shorter ones you could put say 3 short ones or whatever in there inside the main spring and it would still help. Maybe Rona or Home deport or an automotive store might custom cut a spring for you? Maybe measure the inside diameter of the main spring and order a small cheap 24 or 25mm spring just to see if it will fit nicely in the main spring then you can go from there. Another option is the buy some washers to act as shims for the main spring for more compression which would be the cheapest option but might not give you the travel of just having an extra spring in there.

      I’ll definitely have to look into that. Tightening down the adjuster at the end of the tube works fairly well for now but I can see the single loosing some of its strength after a while. Those ideas of yours are very good😃

I'm asking for a refund. No word from them on any of my emails from a company that prided themselves on customer service. Lol!!! I know it’s frustrating Bert. I really hate that you’ve had that experience but I’d be just as upset. Most ebikes are built very similarly so I’d say you’ll be fine with what you ordered. Any ebike is better than no ebike 😁. I still hope you stick around and share your experience with you new bike when it comes. Even though I talk about the Lectric, this isn’t a Lectric channel. Zoom seatpost are ok until the wear and tear from the inner mechanism. Even if you disassemble it if locks are stripped or ragged you need to replace them. So average shelf life on riding depends on road ride and distance. Plus the bike your putting it on.Heavy weight is not suggested.

    • @ReflectionsofOurLife
      @ReflectionsofOurLife  2 года назад +1

      I’m sure you’re probably exactly right especially with how things are made nowadays. 😀 I actually don’t have the Zoom on my bike but my wife does. I’ve got the original solid seat post on my Lectric bike. The Rattan bike I have came with a shock suspension that I do use though. I guess we will see how long they last. Thanks for the information.

      Hi XST Media and thanks for stopping by! There aren’t many products out there designed for people around 300lbs. I like to try and show some things, including the ebikes, that still might work for us heavier people. The Zoom does work ok for me at 300 lbs and if it breaks, I’ll let people know that too. It’s only a seat post so if it does, it shouldn’t break the bank. I push the limit on my things so others like me don’t have to to see if they will work. I’m the Guinea pig.😀

      Yeah, I was a bit disappointed with it for myself at 300lbs.
