Matteo does a fantastic job with these videos. He's made a huge difference with your channel. There's no better channel than this one to learn more (and dream) about GA aircraft, avionics, and missions. He was a great hire, and you've got a great team at OCR Aviation.
Great video. I remember flying a 310Q back in 89 from SQL-RNO to the air races…6 on board and we climbed out quick…lots of power and great stable platform. This plane is a beauty. Tremendous avionics package.
Like your flights better when you explain the procedures ahead. It makes us non pilots understand how much better. Enjoy all your videos, keep up the good work.
The 310 is a very underrated airplane. It is over shadowed by the bigger Cessna twins and Barons, but the 310 is very good. It is a very smooth and easy to fly airplane, with awesome visibility. The 310 is very comfortable, it makes a great family sized cross country hauler. While the market on twin pistons is shrinking, the 310 is a great option as the 310s hold their value pretty well.
Flying with Rich are the best Aviation videos! Thank you! I am not a pilot but I fly Microsoft Flight Simulator and have the Cessna 301R. Its amazing how close the software is to watching this video.
Awsome video, love how you fly over Santa Catalina Island on your videos! Don't forget to land once in a while, such a fun strip and Great restaurant, cool history, I had fun shooting the VOR into KAVX ,thanks Rich!
Back in '79 I made that same flight from Compton to Catalina and back many times... looks like not much has changed except I'd bet the basin is even more crowded now..... my sight seeing run now is Whale watching low and slow along the Oregon Coast........... left in '99 and never looked back. Thanks Rich for the cool view .😊
Nice work. Looking to upgrade my panel similar setup in a 340. Flew the STEX for a long time. If you hold down the autopilot disconnect for a few seconds that load beeping stops. Cheers!
It seems that when alot of people new to GA get a taste of what it's like they catch the bug. Quite hot here right now. Nice plane 👌 by the way. Thanks Rich
I'm a non-pilot, but if I were, and had my MEL, I'd do something like this. I saw Controller has a 2022 Cessna 172 for like $655,000. If it was my money, I'd get something older and well gone over. I see Rich has a lot of planes for less then $200,000 (a couple Mooneys, etc). Prices for new planes is out the roof right now.
Rich there is a Cessna 320 that has been rotting over at Chino for the last 30 years. N48325. My dad owned it but his mechanic messed it up. I often wonder if I bought it if I Could fix it up. I have been an A&P for 30 years and I am a private pilot as well. Only thin is that I would have to get it to Kentucky
I think best to access it from a total time, complete logs, damage history point of view. Let’s say it has no damage, complete logs and low-mid airframe time. It would be definitely be worth bringing back to life. On the other hand if damaged, missing logs, high time -maybe not worth putting time/money into. Chino is close so if I can help, let me know.
@@FlyingwithRich 👍☑yea, heard they are flying comercial to the Miami Boat Show. If they had bought this from you could have done it in a little over 6 hours and had a whole lot more fun! Tks Rich
Man I want to do that so bad just so I can title the video ‘310 to Yuma’. I just can’t abuse that title unless I actually do it! Stay tuned! One of my favorite movies!
Love the 310's. I was lucky enough to get my multi in a 65 J model. Later got CFI multi in a 78 310 R N4927A. This brings back great memories. Not a fan of touch screen Navigators. Being old school partial to original panel layout. Everybody's spoiled now. Keep up the good job of presenting these nice aircraft. You guys do it right
From a professional photography standpoint, with regards to interiors, try a 360 camera between the pilot & co-pilot seats and the passenger compartment. This will make your listings pop!
Rich, love your channel and watch it all the time. My question is this, with all the different airplanes you fly, how do you manage to stay current? Thanks.
Good job Matteo! I'm thinking of starting a youtube channel that is aviation related that isn't really being done yet. How could I contact you for some advice? Would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Hey Rich, nice video. Isn’t great how those old 310s can carry on, even at 9500 hours on the airframe? The avionics upgrade really give them a new lease of life, and if the maintenance and any corrosion issues are kept on top of they’ll keep on trucking! The big question one has to ask though, is how much of a market is there for these old piston twins today? Most of the manufacturers seem to have lost faith in this class of aircraft, when compared to the proliferation back in the ‘60, ‘70 and ‘80s (with a few exceptions). Is it their operating cost, or just that high end singles can do so much these days, with similar proven safety margins? Over here in 🇬🇧 UK, operating costs are just killing us. I’m sure you think your Avgas prices in the States are crazy high right now, but for comparison the UK average is about £2.30 per litre = £10.44 per imperial gallon = £8.66 per US gallon = $10.75 PER US GALLON ……! So if your 310 is burning around 25 USG / hr we’re looking at $268 per hour, and that’s just in fuel costs. And if your tanks hold 140 USG, that makes it $1505 for a full load of avgas. Anyway, keep doing what you’re doing, and thanks for showing us Matteo and his filming skills. That’s a whole job in itself, especially the post production editing 👍
Yeah I agree most manufacturer’s have written off the piston twins - too bad such wonderful airplanes. Here in the US market seems strong for them right now - and yes if our fuel prices went to where your’s are the market would suffer. Thanks for the message and thanks for watching!
Sir just subscribed to your channel I work on the ramp at Heathrow and Ground handled B737 to B747 Since 2002 . Just got interested in your channel by Viewing on and off 😊
Likely power would be pulled back so the aerodynamic impact of the engine out is minimal. However, if the pilot panics and executes a single engine go-around and adds full power and pitches up too abruptly - likely VMC roll.
I sub to his page. Official word is Kevin and Jaime both work for the FAA in ATC, both are working tons of overtime, allegedly 6 day weeks. Kevin said they were too busy to keep the plane flying regularly, so he sold the hangar and the plane. Kevin really ghosted everyone, though, he had promised to finish the video from their last trip from 2021. Last video was posted in September, nearly 5 months ago.
@@davidfrench5407 yeahhh they dropped off like a rock and with all the ATC overtime I guess the RUclips money wasn’t that big of a deal. They seemed to be pretty active so I hope they’re occupying their lives with the kids and some fun also. Towards the end I definitely sensed a change in both of them but growth is always good.
If I may, one constructive criticism. We don't see enough of the the cabin on these planes, the video itself and the explanation is more on the cockpit work, plane capability and sometimes exterior. If we can see the cabin space, how many people it fits and help visualize the experience for a potential buyer . It will help showing the wives of pilots where they will be lounging. As a real estate developer I learned early on that the wife buys the house.
@@FlyingwithRich Well in most 1st world countries, most people can finance a $20K car. And a car can be considered a necessity esp in non-urban places. I guess my question is how much do you have to earn yearly to afford something this expensive that at best is a cool hobby (unless you are starting an airline)?
I have lots of customers who use aircraft for efficient business travel - fewer who consider it a “cool hobby.” As far as what you need to earn - really dependent on many factors, where you live, what other expenses you have, how you plan to pay for it, is it a business asset or personal use - the list goes on and on. An aircraft owner has to have income that is certainly in the higher income levels, but that can be said for a lot of things. I guess in my opinion, your question is too vague to answer.
@@FlyingwithRich I think I was interested on how one finances a plane. It's probably different than financing a car. On a $100K plane how and where does one finance that or do people pay cash? The fuel, airport storage, maintenance etc I understand. Is it like owning a $100K boat?
