Hey Ryan, Congrats!! I've been watching your videos for a few months. It sounds like we have similar histories, at least partially. I also got my PPC in 2006, and haven't flown much since. I joined Civil Air Patrol in 2008 thinking it would be a good way to keep flying, and progress in ability, but after getting a Form 5 (their check-ride to use their planes,) I stopped flying again. I'm now BACK in CAP and doing "Rusty Pilot" to get to another Form 5 (they require them annually.) I'm also giving serious consideration to building an RV, which is why I started watching you. Depending on my wife, I'd like to do an RV-10, but may be open to an RV-9a or an RV-12. Once I get current again, my plan is to start on an Instrument rating as soon as I can (still need a bunch of PIC cross-country first.) Wondering where these 10-day courses in Minnesota are that you found? I live in the Twin Cities, and may be open to it if I can make it work. My plan had been to find a CFII in CAP just because the plane is as cheap as any club I can find nearby, and the instructor is free. However, I started "Rusty Pilot" around Halloween with 2 flights, and have only gotten in 1 flight since because of some hiccups with unavailability in November and we've been in IMC here since Thanksgiving (no joke - 1000 ft ceilings EVERY weekend since Thanksgiving; instructor not available during the week.)
Congratulations on your IFR ticket. Great video and very honest with suggestions. Hope to get mine when finished building RV-12 as I am not getting any younger (78).
Congratulations! Getting your instrument ticket is a big accomplishment.
It sure was. One of the hardest things I have ever done. Thanks for the comment.

If you just google them, they show up. Its been a fun journey getting current again.
Good job! Congrats
Thanks!
@@pilotrhino You might change the Title to "IFR Training" something. I was looking forward to watching your build video. 😉
