I think if the weights were pushed back in the M5, it would have performed closer to the m6. I liked the comparison between the stock shaft and upgraded shaft. A bit surprising it performed very similarly. Thanks for the video. Cheers.
For pros who get paid to play with these drivers, naturally upgrade - but for most amateurs, the 4 yards gain between M1 -> M6 and 3 yards M1-> M5, doesn't make any financial sense. Rather spend your money on a good wedge - scoring difference between the "men & boys" are tour will always be the shots played within 60m. Nice comparison video
Johan Schmidt : Thanks for the comment. To be fair "financial sense" isn't everyones first consideration when making a new purchase. We see our place as offering comparison, insight and opinion to those who want it.
I want one of the TM drivers that exceeds the legal limit. How do I remove the resin? They have left us a screw to turn. Squirt a little acid that's just strong enough eat the resin and not the steal and you're there.
Good review, There are always great story’s and claims from Taylormade why they include there staffer reports never really made sense to me though. Some people will see gains from what they have and some won’t! What launch monitor do the belfry use for live fitting? Cheers
You refer to speed and spin for tour players in your comparison, but what about the high handicapper? I've heard that spin is both good and bad. Searching for a new driver, it sounds like the M6 would be better for a high-handicapper. But, to compare driver research to irons, I think about tour irons with very little "forgiveness" where a high-handicapper needs it, so tour irons are not appropriate. What do you say about the M/M6 comparison from a HH perspective?
All of the comparison videos are with big hitters and it doesn't really help the weaker players. You can get an idea from watching them but they are not geared for a guy like me. 5 Hdcp, 63 years old, and I hit my driver about 225-230 with the roll.
Steve McNally: Thanks for the comment. Tour Edge is barely available here in the UK, which is probably why British reviewers haven't had it in their hands.
Chris Clark: Apologies for the slow reply. Our test pro is hitting down on the ball, usually by just under 0.5deg. His spin numbers are high, hence why he tends to be more suited to lower spinning drivers. Driver fitting for him usually works on the basis of trying to increase launch, without upping spin. He typically hits shots a fraction towards the toe and just above centre on the face. Hope that helps.
Stephen Jackson: Thanks for the comment. Guessing you've watched our Epic Flash video too. Just to be clear the data was created on two different days (3 weeks apart) so comparing data between the two videos in our opinion isn't the best idea. We'll be doing a video pitting the pair head to head before the end of the month. The data for that video will be created on the same day which is a much more reliable way of comparing clubs from our experience.
@@todaysgolfer Appreciate that testing on different days isn't ideal as you say. Very good summary especially the part highlighting the lack of improved performance in the more expansive shaft. I've watched a few reviews and while both are obviously very good clubs many are seeing the claims of extra ball speed are not coming with the TM drivers but are with the Callaway. That being said the TM drivers seem to be launching higher and spinning lower than previous models which may pick up distance for some golfers. The head to head will be interesting, Thanks
Today's Golfer I did. To be honest I worked for Callaway as a tech rep for 8 years up to 2005 but still obviously have a soft spot for them. Not to say TM haven’t/don’t make some very good golf clubs. I just find it interesting that as both are claiming their new drivers are all about more ball speed most reviews are finding that the Flash is doing exactly that yet the M5 & 6 aren’t and their extra distance if any is due to higher launch and lower spin. I do have to say Twist face seems to be a very marmite type of design. It will help some but anyone hitting out the toe with an open clubface where roll would help bring it back a bit is heading to the right trees lol
Really liked how you compared the m5 and m6 to the 2017 versions. I have the 17 m1 and really appreciated the comparison. Thanks ! 👍🏼
chgoalie31 Thanks for taking the time to say so, much appreciated.

ThunderMk2: Thanks for taking the time to say so. The Belfry use Trackman predominantly for fitting.

Would love to see a test of the TE Exotics EXS driver. Testers seem to be avoiding it so far.

Thanks for the reply. Haven't found Tour Edge available in many places. At this price, this is their chance it would seem.

Seems to me 2017 models with Tensei shaft will also yield better results then..
Very high spin numbers...any data on attack angle?

Came for review - got a stats class 😂
phreac phreac Thanks for the feedback. It's because numbers like cameras struggle to lie.
So the Callaway Epic Flash was 10 yards longer
